OLD PAGE. GO TO THE CURRENT APP PAGE HERE

Okay so application is a very strong word and not entirely accurate, but it's a term we all know so bear with me. This is the page where you officially submit your character information for the game! Apps will not really be judged on its contents but more making sure everything fits into the setting of the game. If you want more information on the setting, please check out the FAQ!

How do I join the game?
This app page is currently open! Apps can be submitted by players at anytime. Apps are reviewed by the mod on Sundays.

To join the game, the only big thing is you'll require an invite from another player. Players can invite up to 2 people per month. Just be sure to list their name and have the person confirm that they did invite you either by contacting the mods directly or commenting to your app. Apps that do not have a invitation confirmation will not be looked at by the mods. If a confirmation does not come within two Sundays of the app's submission, it'll be automatically rejected.

A new player must be in the game one full month from their app acceptance date before they can invite another player (meaning if their app was approved on September 18th, they can invite people starting October 18th). This is so the new player has a chance to get acclimated to the game and community enough to assist any friends they later invite to the game.

Players who were in the game but who dropped/were swept will not need an invite to rejoin the game for up to one month after their drop date. After that month, they will require an invite to rejoin.

Once you submit your app, you'll get a welcome comment confirming that everything is a-okay. The only times I'll ask for revisions is if there needs to be a fix with power purchases or possessions.

Is there a player cap?
There is a player cap! Kaisou allows a total of 75 players. Should we ever reach cap, apps will close until openings become available.

PLAYER SLOTS: 46/75 filled.

What kind of characters do you allow?
Most things! Canon characters, Original characters, CRAU, AU characters - the list goes on. Double characters are also allowed so long as the doubles are notably different from one another (examples: MCU Peter Parker and Into the Spider-verse Peter Parker would be fine as they are two clearly different interpretations of the character. Alternatively, a canon version of a character and an AU version of the same character would be fine as long as the AU causes a notable difference in the character). Customizable protagonists and characters from canons with different story routes are allowed, and any characters with differing story routes would be considered AUs from one another.

The only requirement for a character is that they do require a consistent canon history. This is because many of the plot events and mechanics deal with memories and connections to their previous life (or current life if an OU). If you wish to app a mascot character that doesn't have a specific canon background (a vocalid, clippy, the trix rabbit, etc) - you are welcome to write an OC that's inspired by the character with a clear established background to work from. Characters who have multiple canon iterations (like Link from Legend of Zelda or Sonic the Hedgehog) will need to pick a single iteration to pull their canon background from. Characters must also have been properly introduced (not just a quick cameo) in their canon for at least one month at the time of apping.

How many characters can I play at a time?
You can play up to four active characters at a time! Only two of these characters are allowed to be Original Universe and there is a player cap of 25 OU players.

OU PLAYER SLOTS: 24/35 filled.

At the start of each month, we will make sure there are at least 2 OU player slots open whether it be through drops, or adding extra slots. But to keep from one cast from dominating the limited OU slots, there is a OU cast cap of 6 characters per cast. There's no cap on AUs from the canon at this time, just OUs!

Casts near Cap:
Final Fantasy XIV - 6/6, OUS CAPPED

How frequently can I submit an app?
There is no time restraint on the first two characters you app. If you join the game with the intent of playing two characters, you can app them both immediately or wait it out! However after you app your second character, you will require to wait one month between each new character app (so if you app your second character on March 2nd, you will need to wait until April 2nd to app a new character).

What type of characters can I play in this setting?
You have three options for characters!
  • Normal Modern AU: These characters have lived normal lives in a modern Earth setting, completely oblivious to anything strange up until their entry into the game. Anything in their backstory should be events that could reasonably happen in the real world. Upon acceptance, Normal AUs will be allowed to pick one free regain (canon regain or an elemental power) worth up to 3 points that will come into effect after they join the game.

  • Paranormal Modern AU: These are characters who have grown up in a modern Earth setting, but throughout their lives have experienced supernatural occurrences. These characters will get 3 extra points when they app to use for powers that the acquired at some point in their lives (if they so choose). Characters are also allowed to be apped as possessed status. Please refer to the FAQ for more information on that!

  • Original Universe Characters: Characters who hail from their original world and find themselves waking up in this world. These characters will not lose any memories, and are allowed to have any items that would reasonably be on their person when they arrive. They are allowed to retain one ability that's been weakened to beginner levels, otherwise they've been completely depowered.

Character Name: Crow
Canon: The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel
Canon History: Kiseki wiki

Canon Personality:
• Lazy
• Delinquent
• Playboy
• Gambling addict
• Caring & dependable towards friends
→ Prefers to be sneaky about that, though
• Secretive
• Hidden angry streak
• Can be won over with the power of friendship, will be sarcastic about it
• Smarter than he acts.
• Brilliant strategist.

AU History:
Crow's parents died when he was young, he never really knew them, and so he was raised by his grandfather— the beloved mayor of a small city who taught his young grandson his love of games (billiards, cards, darts, chess, etc). Or at least... his grandfather was beloved, until a smear campaign brought his career to a screeching halt and he stepped down from political office in consideration of his constituents. Without the excitement keeping his grandfather enthusiastic and engaged, however, he grew listless and ended up dying of illness within a year. Crow was thirteen.

Rather than allowing himself into the foster system, Crow ran away from the city and moved to Kaisou, where he took up residence in the Entertainment District. He'd steal and lie and did anything he has to in order to get by in life, with more than a few uncomfortable months sleeping on the streets. It's a reckless lifestyle and one that ended up seeing him near death at the tender age of sixteen— and that's when he had his first brush with the paranormal. A god had taken some interest in the lad, and agreed to keep him alive for a few... prices.

Well, he's managed to stay alive since then. Who's complaining? Not Crow, that's for sure.

He did manage to scrape enough money together to get a GED when he was eighteen, but he hasn't pursued much beyond that in the way of schooling. He doesn't really have an eye on college, he got it just to prove to himself he could. He's been keeping an eye on the world around him though, biding his time in the underbelly of Kaisou. One day, one day... he'd really like to find out more about that guy who wrecked his grandfather's career with his lies.... But for now, he'll get by on the next grift, looking out for the next mark.

AU Personality Differences: I mean, the only real difference is that he hasn't plotted any terrorism. Other than that, the core personality's pretty much the same.

Element: Shadow
Purchased Powers:
General:
• Sense presence of others within 30 feet [1 point]
• Reduced need for sleep (5hrs) [1 point]
• Low level telepathy (you can send basic images) [1 point]

Possession:
Crow is possessed by a god, though even he doesn't know if it's for good or ill. All he knows for sure is it's what's keeping him going for now....

Contract Prices:
Cannot Tell Lies. At least, not a direct one— he can manipulate the truth or omit key details, but he cannot blatantly lie.
Sacrifice. This does not have to be a life (though it can be), but Crow needs to make at least one sacrifice every day— this can range from personal (a day of abstinence) to stealing something in supplication, or even, yes, a life.... but the god within him demands recognition. This must be done specifically with the god in mind at the time, ie he cannot just forgoe sex all day and decide at midnight that oh, this is for the god. Deliberation and intent is the key to this price.

Character Name: Adol Christin
Canon: Ys series
Canon Point: post Ys VIII
History: places a wiki link here

Personality:
- Adventurous: His burning curiosity about the world has lead him to a life of seeking out adventure, traveling the world and incidentally ending up wandering into things that snowball into needing to save the world.
- Pure of heart: Wherever he is and whatever is going on around him, Adol always tries to help people, whether it be finding a lost pet to collecting medicinal herbs for a doctor to saying "sure" when a fortune teller informs him that he has to collect six books and go defeat a great evil. You know, jrpg protag stuff.
- Dumb of ass: In theory he has a decent head on his shoulders since he manages to problem solve his way through dungeons... but in practice he's pretty much no thoughts, head empty, only adventure on the brain. This has bitten him in the ass before. It will happen again.
- He's got this weird contrast thing going where he's both all chill and no chill at the same time, where he's very go with the flow about most things, but also the second he sees an adventure or injustice happening, Adol will rush right in. Protag gotta protag.

Time of Arrival to Kaisou: he's showing up the day the game opens, for protag reasons
Items: I'm being nice and letting him keep his fishing pole and boot knife, but you know I can't let him keep anything else. This is Adol "lost more legendary weapons/artifacts than most people have seen" Christin, after all.

Character Name: Narsus
Canon: The Heroic Legend of Arslan/Arslan Senki
Canon History: The only son of the lord of Daylam, a province in the kingdom of Pars, Narsus made a name for himself as a brilliant strategist by turning three invading armies against each other before they could threaten the kingdom. He then proceeded to become an absolute menace politically, insisting that slavery was immoral and all the slaves kept in the kingdom should be freed and then provided for until they could take their place as citizens. These attitudes led to an attempted assassination, and when he went into hiding, he left behind an open letter to the stubborn and warmongering king that detailed exactly what the man was doing wrong in his reign and what reforms he ought to enact to improve the lot of his people, which is how 'in hiding' turned into 'permanently exiled'.

He spent the next few years living in a cabin in the woods and working on art that no one likes but himself. Then, after said king's utter defeat in a battle against a different invading army, Narsus' old friend showed up on his doorstep with the crown prince in tow, begging for shelter and for Narsus' help as a strategist to help the prince reclaim his country. Though reluctant at first, Narsus agreed after seeing that the prince was much kinder and wiser than his father, even having the insight to offer Narsus not wealth or power in exchange for his help, but instead the role of official court painter, something he would actually covet. They've been traveling together ever since, gradually rallying what loyal forces remained and bargaining for more and more power...perhaps even enough to put the young prince on the throne in spite of his father's survival.

Canon Personality:
- The smartest person in the room and he knows it
- Arrogant and kind of pretentious
- Manipulative with the best of intentions
- Philosophical and passionately idealistic
- Genuinely kind and believes in using power responsibly
- Artistic and sensitive

AU History: Instead of being born into politics, Narsus was just born wealthy and allowed to pursue his true passion of art from the get-go. His first big gallery exhibition in the city he grew up in was a great success, and he was hailed as an up-and-coming avant-garde voice in the art world; but what no one else understood was that he was being cautious for his first showing. His second exhibition, hugely publicized without much explanation of the content, centered dramatically around showing how the mayor and the city council were failing underprivileged citizens; while local activists thought he had a point (if rather naively handled), he upset basically all of his parents' old-money friends with that stunt.

This was actually fine with him, except he didn't realize how far their power stretched: they turned the press against him and his work, keeping him from getting any further publicity through reputable channels unless he wanted to dedicate all his energy to agitating instead of making more art. Refusing to play their villain, he ended up moving away to a lower-key lifestyle here, far away from all of that drama.

AU Personality Differences: More aligned to art than politics in this incarnation, but maybe only as a matter of access; his core ideals and personality are basically the same.

Character Name: Aurelija Spica
Canon: OC
Canon History: A link!

Canon Personality:
❉ Hardworking. Almost too hardworking.
❉ Loving
❉ Anxious
❉ Lonely
❉ Secretive
❉ Vengeful
❉ More intelligent than she appears
❉ Imaginative
❉ Loose morality/views things in a very non-human way. Is actually lowkey patronizing towards humans, but isn't consciously aware of it - sees them as "cute beings that need to be protected".

AU History: Aurelija Sepetys, or Aure as she prefers to be called, was born to a large Lithuanian family who moved to Kaisou when she was very young due to her parents work. Ever since moving to the city, she's always been aware of something not being right, especially since she could see that sky looked pretty damn weird at night. And she could also do some neat tricks with light and talk to animals. She tries to keep this under wraps.

Her life had mostly been uneventful besides that, yet she felt a constant pressure to live up to all her older siblings achievements as the baby of the family - they were all great at what they did, so she needed to be as well. She had to be as pretty as her big sister, as smart as her older brother, as rich as them both - even when she moves out to study at the university, it's still something that nags at the back of her mind. Aure is at least glad that her interest in space allows her to study something she is passionate about and should give her a good career - astrophysics - but she tends not to visit home often nowadays...

Now she tries to focus on her studies in-between part-time work at the library and whatever volunteering she can squeeze in. Even if it means living on coffee and energy drinks and being lowkey envious of how her roomie is able to be so chill.

AU Personality Differences: Since she's neither the last of her kind or struggling to be an empress, she's a lot less anxious and depressed than she originally was. It's still there, it only now manifests in the form of trying to fulfil familial expectations and student life stress. She also, y'know, doesn't see humans as cute pets either.

Element: Light
Purchased Powers:
Conjure a ping-pong size ball of light (1 point)

Character Name: Jun Kohinata (Jun Nightroad in the AU)
Canon: Tokyo Xanadu
Canon History: here!

Canon Personality:
Jun is...complicated.

The simplest way to describe Jun is that he has two personas that he puts on depending on the situation: the high school student and White Shroud. You meet the student side of him first. He's introduced as one of Kou's normal friends at school, and in this persona he does seem very normal to the casual eye. He's down-to-earth, easy going, cheerful, and a bit nerdy without veering into obsessive. He doesn't have any of the strong personality traits that his friends exhibit: he's not loud like Ryouta, a workaholic like Kou, or extremely sweet like Shiori. Truth be told, he's so normal that he's almost forgettable the moment he leaves a room. He's that person in your friend circle at school that you hung out with a lot, only to realize much later that you never learned anything of substance about him.

Not long after you meet him as White Shroud, though you're unaware that it's Jun at the time. As White Shroud, he couldn't be anymore different than his student persona. He's cold and aloof, keeping his interactions with people brief if not outright avoiding them altogether. Attempting to converse with him is difficult at best, as he brushes people off with uncaring words. Gravely serious, he only cares about accomplishing his mission and nothing else. If something falls outside his mission perimeters, he's quick to dismiss it. Essentially, he's as close as a human can get to an emotionless weapon.

The truth is, neither of these personas are exactly the "real Jun", nor are either complete lies either. You see, Jun was raised to be a child soldier against a threat hidden from most of the world. The faction who raised him, Kronos Orden, were pretty extreme about it compared to the others. Seal Knights are expected to be wholly devoted to the cause, in body and soul. Not only was something done to his body to give him superhuman abilities, but he was denied any chances to form a sense of self or emotional attachments - severely impairing his emotional development.

However, things started to change for him when he was sent to Morimiya for a long term mission. Posing as a high schooler during the day, Jun was exposed to something he'd never experienced before: normalcy. Day after day, he was exposed to new experiences that most kids his age would take for granted. Slowly over time, these experiences caused Jun to start to grow and change himself. The act he put on as his student persona became less of an act as a real personality began to form, and the friends he made became truly precious to him. When he fully realized he was changing, he decided to lean into it- to see what he could learn about himself. He'd observe behaviors that others would do, and try to mimic them himself to see if it felt right to him. Some would get discarded, while others would he'd keep.

The real Jun is a mix of his personas. He's serious about his work, but quick to joke around and smile when he's not working. While he takes being a Seal Knight seriously, overall doesn't seem to take himself that seriously. He's confident in his abilities, but he doesn't have an ego about them. He's surprisingly fine with working with others so long as they understand the risks - even going so far as to vouch for allowing certain people to help when Kou refuses out of worry of their safety. As long as his missions get completed, he's not too fussed over HOW they're completed.

One very notable personality trait that Jun has developed is that he is excessively kind, often going beyond what any person would normally do without thinking about it. When the XRC all passed out and he didn't, it wasn't enough to simply get them out of harm's way. Instead he tracked down people each member cared about, brought them to spots where those people could find them, and even made sure they were laying in comfortable positions so they wouldn't wake up sore -- all before disappearing before anyone spotted him to avoid getting credit. He doesn't have a deep reason for going so overboard with it, he just feels an impulse and follows it, often not understanding why other people are surprised he goes through so much hassle. He claims he's just following his friend Kou's example...but even Kou is often like "um" at how far he goes.

That said, he's still a bit of a troll. He enjoys creeping people out with scary stories he "read online", and will tease people (he will never let poor Ryouta forget the time he mistook him for a girl and asked him out. Never.) when the mood strikes him. He has no shame about dragging his friends into his nerdy hobbies either, whether it be forcing his friend to cosplay with him or sending them manga to read. And while he's grown to be a little more emotionally honest since his friends discovered his real identity, he's still full of secrets. He's skilled at lying and half-truths, often dancing around subjects.

Yet for all the growing Jun has done over the year and a half he's spent in Morimiya, he still has a lot of issues. Many emotions are still beyond his grasp, and the warped ideas he learned from the Orden still have a habit of popping up. Even though he's happy to work with the XRC, he still has to reminded from time to time that he has a team now. He struggles to connect with people due to a lifetime of avoiding emotional attachments, but the people he does manage to connect with he sees as incredibly precious.

AU History:
- His birth parents were petty criminals, the type that just can't keep themselves out of trouble and lives in the bottom rungs of society. Jun has no real memories of them, as he was handed over to an underground group called Krusnik when he was a little kid. It's not known to Jun why they handed him over, and later attempts to track them down turns up nothing but dead ends.
- Krusnik raised Jun for several years, though it was less a proper upbringing and more raising him to be an obedient child soldier with occasional experiments, with the intended goal to get him possessed by a god.
- However that plan would fail to come to fruition, as when he was a preteen Abel found him and got him out of there. They fled to Kaisou, where Abel legally adopted the kid.
- For the next several years Abel worked hard to give Jun as much of a normal life as possible. Slowly Jun came out of his shell and started playing catch up for all the things he missed. He really took to art and anime, as well as other nerdy hobbies. He attended high school and for the most part had a normal time.
- At some point he got curious enough about his own background to do something akin to a 23andMe test. He failed to track down his parents, but he managed to locate some cousins who also live in Kaisou.
- He's 18 now and currently enrolled at Kaisou University as an art major. He says he wants to live a normal life because he knows that's what everyone wants for him-- but his interests veer into the occult a lot.

AU Personality Differences: The biggest difference that since Jun's had more time away from his crazy cult life -- he's much more in touch with his emotions. He feels more confident in having emotional attachments, having family of his own. He has a better idea of what it means to have a normal life, and doesn't feel compelled to CONSTANTLY lie. Though he does still have plenty of secrets, frequently avoiding saying how much he knows about the occult and his life before he came to Kaisou.

Character Name: Roxas (Roxas Graf in the AU)
Canon: Kingdom Hearts
Canon History: Here

Canon Personality:
Roxas displays the fact that he is a rather happy, carefree, cheerful and at ease kid when around friends. He doesn't make friends easily, but he loves to spend time with those he has. Axel was his first friend in the Organization, and they had their own tradition of meeting on top of the Clocktower. This gave Roxas something to look forward to and cherish, even with the addition of Xion into the mix. He continued this tradition with his new friends, Hayner, Pence and Olette when he arrived in Twilight Town. He expressed his happiness with smiles and teasing his friends and planning things to do with them, such as a beach trip with the Twilight Town crew.

He is also a loyal friend. He is more than willing to stand up for and defend them when someone is untoward them. He does this for his friends when Seifer refers to them as losers to goad them into a fight. This loyalty also extends into promises. He promised Axel and Xion that he would always meet them after their missions on the Clocktower to eat ice cream.

Roxas shows he can be kind and caring. When he heard that Axel may have been killed, he becomes devastated with worry, showing how deeply he cared for his friend. This is remedied when Axel does manage to make it back alive, and Roxas becomes overjoyed and lets his friend know he much worried about him. He shows his caring to Xion when he was more than willing to help her do her missions when she became incapable of wielding the Keyblade.

He is far from unintelligent. This intelligence builds over time, as he originally was at about the intellectual level of a newborn when he first entered the Organization. It made him seem naive and slow to others, but he was quick learner. In Twilight Town, he shows how intelligent and perceptive he was by seeing things for what they really were. He isn't easily fooled by his enemies, and thinks things through before making a decision. If he stays calm.

The young man can also be rather determined and competitive. Any challenge he gets is not something he will back down from easily. Being competitive, especially against friends, is fun for him, not matter who wins in the end. He could have been beaten by Hayner in the Struggle match and still cheer his friend on. His determination helps him win the Struggle Tournament against Setzer, and he proudly displays his Championship Belt to the crowd.

A temper that comes along with a devil-may-care attitude is one of his worst traits. When angered enough, his anger becomes out of control and difficult to reign in. A source of anger to him in the Organization was whenever Saïx referred to Xion as an 'it'. His rashness, cocky attitude, and flares of temper at times makes him jump into battle without thinking of the possible consequences, such as his fight with Axel. This temper also makes him more than willing to fight Sora for control of Sora’s heart, Roxas being upset that Sora was the one allowed to be free while he remained inside of him.

Roxas can be prone to bouts of melancholy, stoicism, episodes of solemn attitude, and can become distracted. When he starts finding out about who he was and what he was in his time with the Organization, he would at times withdraw from even his friends. When in Twilight Town, this occurs once more, and he starts feeling lost and confused. When Naminé reveals the truth to him about everything, it was then he truly hit rock bottom with his depression.

In his time being a part of Sora again, Roxas got to see the world through his other half’s eyes, even if the other was not aware of him. Resignation, sadness, and anger had been what he harbored inside of himself until it came to the point where Roxas got into a confrontation with Sora for control of the heart they both shared. Even after the fight, Roxas still wasn’t satisfied. He hated how it was Sora that could have things like friends while he was stuck in there.

Not much is known about how Roxas reacts during the Mark of Mastery exam until Sora walks into the trap laid out for him. Roxas does come out to help Sora again, having fully accepted the fact after all this time that Sora was the only one who could save everyone. Letting go of his resentment and hatred for the other has calmed his demeanor towards Sora considerably. Receiving his own body and heart at the end of KH3 doesn't seem to have changed his personality or demeanor in the slightest.

AU History:
- Roxas grew up in good home, but despite that he can be rather aloof about family in general. His parents aren't really talked about when he's asked about family.
- There's times when he's gotten to the point of being expelled from school due to his temper, yet he's always managed to squeak by and stay in school.
- As soon as he could, Roxas applied to a school away from home. Kaisou was picked since it was the furthest away from where he had been living with his family and felt like the best option for more freedom.
- A decent student, he is currently attending college as a sophomore in the graphic arts program and dabbling with more traditional mediums. Yes, he knows that it's not the best degree to get, but there isn't much else he has interest in.
- Since he has decided to live alone as soon as he could, Roxas works mostly freelance graphics jobs and has a part time job at a local convenience store. As long as it pays the bills, he'll take other side-jobs when he can.
- Roxas is a big fan of Sora's streams and regularly watches them and donates when he can. Despite this, he has been good about not being the "overly friendly" type of watcher and thus has never tried to meet Sora outside of streams. He would not turn down the opportunity if ever offered.

AU Personality Differences:
- Roxas is quieter since he prefers to observe and watch. Mostly for inspiration for art projects since interacting directly with what he's watching can change what he's seeing.
- Since he's not aware that his heart if still fairly new, there's no confusion about the emotions he's feeling. That'll make Roxas be more open and receptive in general.

Character Name: Sora (Sora Lockhart)
Canon: Kingdom Hearts
Canon History: Wikipedia link

Canon Personality: Sora can be described as a young boy who is still learning who he is and learning that there is both good and evil in the world. He’s young but courageous, someone who will readily jump into any situation to help. One might say he’s naive but he does everything with good intentions in his heart. He has a strong sense of justice and right, wanting to help people and defend people who’ve been bullied or wronged. He has an unshakable loyalty to his friends and to the things he believes in.

His outlook on life is optimistic, and he chooses to see the good in everyone first before making any second opinions. He’s protective and understanding and would rather forgive someone for their mistakes than make an enemy of them. The biggest example of this is Riku, who attacks Sora several times and goes as far as to take his keyblade from him, forgave Riku in the end and still claims that Riku is his best friend and a person he cherishes deeply. He never feels as though Riku is evil or meant the mean things he said to Sora and has unshakable faith in Riku. Sora is kind-hearted, forgiving and generous. He does not judge people unfairly and always wears his heart on his sleeve.

As Sora grows he begins to defend his beliefs and actions more openly. He doesn’t let people step all over him and will tell people what he thinks of them. He’s confident about himself and his abilities and feels adamant about doing the right thing. He dislikes selfishness and cowardice and will be the first person to point out someone’s poor actions. Sora talks back to Xigbar when he stands in Sora’s way going as far as trying to egg him into a fight, insults Pete when he’s being villainous and talks back to many other enemies on principle. He stands up for what he believes in and is fiercely passionate.

This makes Sora somewhat reckless, as he tends to leap before he thinks and is impulsive. His impulsive determination is what drives him to do what he does and he does not like to give up. He searches relentlessly for Riku and Kairi during his adventures in Kingdom Hearts II and refuses to stop until he’s found them. Another example of his hastiness is during the events of Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories when he separates from Donald and Goofy to chase after his lead on Naminé that he ends up leaving them behind in favour of running as fast as he can and ends up facing battles alone because of it.

Despite this, Sora knows when he’s done something wrong or made a mistake. He’s humble and will admit when he’s wrong. It is easy for him to apologize and to make amends with friends. He quickly apologizes to Donald and Goofy after they reunite for being hasty and smooths things over.

It’s Sora’s empathy for people that also stands out. It is easy for him to feel for others and to understand their feelings or what they’re going through. When Roxas returns to Sora’s heart in the prologue of Kingdom Hearts II, Sora instantly feels sadness for Roxas and understands his loneliness. Various other examples of his empathy are his drive to help Mulan prove herself, his understanding of Simba’s need to overcome his fears of being King and William’s urge to protect Elizabeth. He encourages and supports these friends and understands their goals and ambitions and often relates their experiences to his own.

Another defining trait for Sora is his honesty and his humility. During the events of Kingdom Hearts: DDD, Sora participates in the Mark of Mastery exam with Riku. Upon completion, Riku is named the new master and Sora isn't. Sora feels only joy and pride for Riku’s success and feels absolutely no jealousy, irritation for not passing. He understands he still has things he has to work on and can still improve as a person and a keyblade wielder.

Which also defines Sora ability to nurture people. He tends to bring the best out of people such as Beast when he feels unable to save Belle; Sora manages to convince him to be the strong person he is and to protect his loved ones again. Sora also readily allows Ventus into his heart to heal and desires for Roxas to become his own person. He makes his friends want to be the best versions of themselves and does his best to support them in any way he can.

In the current canon, he has gained some maturity. He seems to listen to what others are saying more often and isn’t as confused about the things going on around him. He is genuinely curious and instinctive. He is shown telling the others that they need ask Riku about how to get into the Realm of Darkness long before they actually accept the fact that they need to get there. He’s no longer the clueless kid that he used to be and he’s better at catching on, following through with plans and understanding tasks put in front of him.

He is also generally more charismatic, sassy and sharp with his words when he’s talking to other people. His jokes are fluid, his honesty is sharp as a knife and he’s better at explaining things to others.

Sora also shows a vulnerable side which shows that Sora is actually quite fragile when he thinks he’s alone. While he overcomes these fears in the same space it is clear that Sora has doubts and fears in himself about how strong he really is with or without his friends. He screams and shows tears when he’s overcome with these fears and even goes as far as calls himself worthless without support. Sora knows and that he’s just one boy and he still has things he’s afraid of and insecurities about worthlessness he needs to face.

Sora also shows more of a temper or is able to snap when he’s pushed far enough or witnesses an injustice. Some examples of this are when Sora jumps onto Davy Jones’ back to punch him in the face when he witnesses William Turner’s death. Another example is that Sora’s Antiform has evolved into a Rage From which shows that Sora holds some deep emotions of rage and hurt in his heart. This rage more than likely stems from all the hurt he’s seen in his life, growing up with so much responsibility and the frustration in wanting to save his friends. And most importantly from darkness in his heart.

Sora has other certain flaws too. He is often easily confused or angered when he doesn’t understand something such as getting repeatedly frustrated when being called Roxas in Kingdom Hearts II or getting into childish arguments with Donald. He can be gullible as well such as not recognizing that Mulan is a female until he’s directly told. Additionally, he is often teased by his friends that he’s oblivious or dimwitted. For instance, by Riku and Joshua on Sora’s slow uptake on the situations occurring during Kingdom Hearts: DDD.

AU History:
- Sora was raised in Kaisou in the same little house near the beachfront. Born and raised and he has never left Kaisou for his entire life. As much as that has made him a small-town boy he has big dreams about the future and hopes that someday he can save up enough money to travel the world.
- Although half Japanese he doesn't know the language. He was born to a larger family and is cousins with Tifa Lockhart. He lives at home with his parents and has recently finished high school at age Eighteen.
- Born to a talented family of musicians and artists it was natural for Sora to pick up something along those lines as well. He took to creative outlets online such as streaming and blogging and eventually became a Twitch streamer for whatever he feels like for the day. Be it video games, cooking, trying to build a birdhouse and failing or even singing. He has gained quite a decent following and helps his parents pay rent with his income.
- Sora is done high school but has no plans to go for post-secondary education. He's more than happy to live in the moment and follow his dreams of travelling someday. He has such a busy streaming schedule who has time for classes?
- He has an easy life where socializing and helping his family are his main day-to-day activities. Or playing with his dog and pet duck, Goofy and Donald.

AU Personality Differences:
- More openly flirtatious and confident when it comes to others as it's part of his charm as an online streamer.
- Can lose his temper a little more readily if he's provoked.

Character Name: Abel Nightroad
Canon: Trinity Blood
Canon History: Here

Canon Personality:
→ Guilt-ridden, self-hateful creature of remorse. Seeking atonement, yet quick to state he will not achieve it as he's unable to forgive himself
→ Reckless with his well-being and masochistic
→ Big ol' bleeding heart
→ Wears facades to appear harmless and more easily gain the trust of others
→ Deeply sentimental and easily swayed by matters of the heart
→ Afraid of himself, afraid of being feared, afraid of hurting others
→ Pacifist who deals in absolutes: all life is precious and he seeks understanding, even for his enemies
→ Perpetual manchild who takes a gross amount of delight in playing around/teasing with those he's fond with
→ Forms attachments easily and becomes very invested in the well-being of others, deeply compelled by their pain and happiness
→ Big Sad

AU History:
→ Abel and his twin brother were snatched up from the foster system at a young age by an underground organization known as Krusnik
→ Cue gross child experimentation regarding possessions; his brother ended up losing his life after a Possession Gone Wild in his late teen years. Abel escapes the facility with some help from the inside during the chaos. He's now on the outside for the first time since he can remember, a possessed kid with a chip on his shoulder and absolutely no social skills. It goes real well.
→ He spends the next portion of his life going off the deep end attempting to plot revenge on Krusnik with plans to burn it all to the ground and deeply bitter about a world that had failed him and children like him
→ Except during his act of vengeance, he stumbles upon a survivor among the children slotted for human experimentation: Jun. He rescues the boy and, knowing no one else is going to understand him/is equipped to help assimilate him to life outside, decides to take care of him until Jun is adjusted. Spoiler: Abel ended up getting Really Attached. They've been together ever since
→ They relocate to Kaisou in the states to put distance between themselves and Krusnik's remnants. Abel formally adopts Jun after money changes hands several times to get them passable paperwork to back up their identities. Jun enters school; Abel picks up odd-jobs. They barely make ends meet in a shitty little apartment with paper walls and some guy who cries at 3am as their neighbor. It's sketch for a long time before life is falling into a groove but they make it work.
→ Years pass and somehow the 'soft dad' act is less an act and more genuine day by day. Abel is now officially a big softie and Jun is looking at pursuing a genuine career in the arts and animation. They no longer live in the Sad Apartment. It's nothing big, but it's theirs, and it's nice enough. Life is good.

AU Personality Differences:
→ Abel's major guilt complex isn't nearly as Major, since there's a distinct absence of the whole genocide and soulmate beheaded thing. Same with the self-loathing. He has regrets, but they're much less crushing
→ His pacifism comes less from maintaining Lilith's ideals and more to avoid making waves in AU-land. He just wants a quiet life and has let go of the whole violence thing by choice of his own
→ Abel had a healthy turnabout at a much younger age and is better adjusted for it!! Amazing. Raising Jun gave him a purpose and it's been incredibly good for his well-being
→ Less inclined to hold back if provoked to anger (namely if those he's protective over are endangered), though getting Abel angy is still notably hard
→ Actually values his life?? And wants to live it???? Incredible.

Element: I won't be giving Abel any elemental affinity at this time! (Though if I did, it'd be Shadow as any self-respecting vampire must slink around menacingly.)
Purchased Powers: 2 in Enhanced vision, 1 in better than average hearing!
Possession: Naturally, Abel is possessed by a high-level vampire. The contract requires feeding (of the blood-sucking variety) from live human or animal donors... voluntarily or otherwise.

Other Characters: Also apping Ris Bancroft

Character Name: Rean Schwarzer
Canon: Trails of Cold Steel
Canon History: Aidios bless the Kiseki wiki amen

Canon Personality:

  • Kind and Compassionate: Rean's always looking out for others and wants them to be happy.
  • Loyal: Once you are friends with Rean, he will DIE FOR YOU.
  • Natural leader: Rean doesn't see it in himself, and he doesn't always have the best plans, but he's great at rallying people together for a cause.
  • Self-deprecating and self-destructive: Rean doesn't see much worth in himself, and he's all too quick to point that out. He's also more than happy to run headlong into danger for someone else's sake, never stopping to think about himself for a second.
  • Lovable but very stupid: Thanks to bullet point the first, Rean tends to wind up with a lot of people infatuated with him. Thanks to the previous bullet point, Rean has absolutely no idea.
  • Hard worker: Rean doesn't have an off button. He has no idea how to take time for himself and as a result usually winds up taking on other people's errands or checking in on people rather than taking time to relax.

AU History: Rean is the eldest child of a wealthy couple from the northeastern US. He was, as such, granted a pretty privileged upbringing, attending private school and being enlisted into whatever martial arts or kendo classes he was interested in without a second thought. Rean's always tried to be cognizant of his privilege, though, and as such never really joined any extracurriculars through his school proper - he preferred to spend his time volunteering where he could. He also never really made many friends through school or those classes, but hid it well behind a smile and a positive attitude.

During whatever downtime he had left, his family (his father and siblings especially) always encouraged his love of various aspects of nerd culture, especially anime and video games. It's a love he still carries with him, and he's on the board of his college's anime club.

Speaking of college, that's why he's in Kaisou! He's in his second year of listlessly drifting through an undecided major on his parents' dime, trying out various specialization classes here and there hoping that something lights a fire in him. Unfortunately, nothing really has, and he's becoming increasingly anxious about it.

All Rean's life, he's struggled with nightmares. He doesn't often remember them, but there's something about him that leaves him on edge and feeling like there's something more to his life that he's just missing.

AU Personality Differences: Canon Rean definitely has his fair share of Issues, all of which AU Rean will be inheriting soon, but even before that Rean suffers from depression and anxiety. He hides it well, but it's definitely something that influences how he interacts with the world around him.

Character Name: Ris Bancroft
Canon: OC
Canon History: You know what fuck it I'm going to be lazy and link to her SF app because I'm not writing all this down again

Canon Personality:

  • Loyal... to a scary degree: Once you have Ris on your side, not only will she die for you, she will also kill for you.
  • Cautious and distrustful: Ris assumes everyone is out to get her. Which, to be fair, from her limited experience, this is true.
  • Passive-aggressive and snarky: If everyone's out to get her, she's out to strike back! But also she's not like, looking to DIE or anything, so she's just going to be as paggro as possible about it and hope no one picks up on it.
  • Thoughtful and caring: If anyone makes it past the initial wall of nastiness she's put up to keep herself safe, Ris is capable of being a really sweet person, actually. If anyone's sick, hurt, or just in need of a tiny shoulder to cry on, she might not be the actual best choice, but she sure will try her best.
  • Possessive: Refer to bullet point the first, but let's also add that her loved ones are hers. And woe unto anyone who tries to challenge that... even if those people are the loved ones themselves.
  • Nasty teasing little gremlin: Ris' favorite thing is teasing other people and making them fluster. She's terrible like that.

AU History: Ris' name may be legally Iris Bancroft, but please don't call her that— that's her mother. Her mother is legally married to Dr. Varen Bancroft, a highly esteemed surgeon in Kaisou's hospital, but Ris isn't the doctor's daughter. No, she's the product of one of her mother's many affairs... who her mother just happened to drop in the doctor's lap and be off on her merry way.

The doctor, for his part, has never been cruel to his stepdaughter. Although she's not really his stepdaughter, as he never legally adopted her, but whatever. But "not cruel" does not necessarily equal "kind." The reality is that he's just never been much of a figure in Ris' life at all. He at least made sure she had someone looking after her when she was too young to do so herself and now that she's older he's always sure that she has a roof over her head and money with which to feed herself, but he otherwise doesn't take any interest in her at all. Really, the only thing he seems interested in is his work, which he throws himself into entirely at the expense of most other things in his life.

As for Ris' mother, she only bothers to stop by when she wants to show off her cute trophy daughter. Then it's right back to vanishing for months on end.

As a result of no one really giving much of a damn about her, Ris has never really given much of a damn about herself. She made it through her schooling, but her grades were middling at best and she never really took much interest in any extracurriculars. She graduated high school last year, but right now she's just taking a gap year while she figures out what she wants to do. ...Or, at least, that's what she says to keep suspicion off of her.

Ris really has no plans for herself or her future, instead choosing to just throw herself headlong into whatever seems like it will kill the endless droll of her life for even a few seconds or let her pretend someone actually cares about her. She's never strayed too far into the Realm of Extremely Poor Decisions, but you bet your ass she's dabbled if the option was open to her.

AU Personality Differences: AU Ris is more morose and depressive than her usual self, although she does a better job of hiding it. Additionally, she's way more prone to risk-taking than in canon, and doesn't value her life nearly as highly. This will change once she starts regaining memories, of course.

Fae | August Villareal | Paranormal Modern AU

[personal profile] drewthetower 2022-01-02 09:07 pm (UTC)(link)
Player Name: Fae
Contact: Plurk or DM
Invited by: Yuff
Other Characters: none yet, working on a second app though

Character Name: August Villareal
Canon: OC
Canon History: August was born to Ciela May Whitlock and an unknown man, though Ciela did say she knew where he was. It was while she was going to find him that she was killed in a car accident, leaving August in the care of his "aunts", Catherine Villareal and Marianne Villareal, née Arnaud.

Unbeknownst to August for most of his life, Ciela isn't actually dead. You see, August's father is a demon lord known to his aunts only as "Johann" and she was going to find whatever hellhole he'd crawled into after knocking her up to drag him out by the ear to help raise their son. By all accounts, she would have likely managed it if she hadn't been lost to Hell. She's still alive, and he knows this now, but it maybe a Hades and Persephone thing. He's not sure. Given that his father is Nebiros and is stated to never really have stayed in one place, August suspects she may be lost, combined with Drama in the Hells keeping her there.

August has never known life outside of the town of Solor, the town closest to the family's bird sanctuary (Crowley Sanctuary for Birds), and in fact would rather not have known life inside the town either as it is much too small for someone as...interesting as August is, with his naturally silver-white hair that he usually has dyed and weird pet raven and interest in fashion and uncanny knack for fortune telling. Guess how many times he was called a witch by someone. Just guess. (Granted, they aren't wrong, but still.)

Canon Personality: Thanks in large part to growing up weird, queer, and pagan in a small town, August is very much the cranky anti-social witch in the woods stereotype, if better dressed. He likes his family, his bird, the only other queer guy in town, the other local witch, and the baker and her boyfriend. That's it. Everyone else can go fuck right off, because August does not have the time or emotional bandwidth to deal with their shit.

That being said, when he's around the people he likes he's the sort of guy you'd expect a twenty something who grew up with crazy healing to be: a little reckless, a lot of a dork, and with some crazy stories. He's also much more personable and vulnerable when he's around the people he likes, since he feels safe with them. He's clingy at times, though he'll deny it, and he's extremely touchy if the other party doesn't mind (read: if he likes you, he will cuddle. A Lot).

Perhaps because of his heritage or perhaps because of the defenses he put up to protect himself as a child, August can also be...very explosive, emotionally speaking. He doesn't take everything personally or anything, but setbacks and bad news can send him into a bit of a spiral until he just snaps and yells or cries or runs off to be alone with his bird. He'll calm down quickly, but whatever upset him might still be simmering in the background, just waiting for another thing to set him off. Thankfully, his abilities are not emotionally powered.

He's also very likely to blame himself for whatever's happening, if it could feasibly be blamed on him. He's working on it.

AU History: Basically the same, except this time his dad is just some Spirit Realm Thing Probably (he actually doesn't know) and he has no idea where his mom is.

AU Personality Differences: Nope!

Element: Shadow
Purchased Powers: Dog Sized Familiar (Raven named Julian!)

Fae | Jun'ichi | Paranormal Modern AU

[personal profile] blindfox 2022-01-02 10:10 pm (UTC)(link)
Player Name: Fae
Contact: Plurk or DM
Invited by: MYSELF
Other Characters: August Villareal

Character Name: Jun'ichi (Jun'ichi Izumi here)
Canon: OC
Canon History: Born in the Fae Realm when his parents were lost there, a disguised Queen of Summer came to them and aided his mother in the delivery though not even she could grant him sight--and declared he would be her favored warlock when he reached adulthood. With that, she whisked the new family away to the village of Izumi-dani in the material plane where they would live in relative peace until Jun was sixteen years old. At that point, he left their hidden village to become, of all things, a courtesan. He was a smart boy and could have done anything, but he was also incurably lazy and a courtesan in the big city sounded like just his cup of tea.

Of course bandits happened and his patron had to swoop in to save him and give him his familiar, but he got there just fine in the end. That first year in the city was a whirlwind for Jun: he joined an organization working from the shadows to keep things running smoothly (that he later learned was basically the Summer Faerie Mafia), he made friends...and he had a son, thanks in part to his own foolishness as well as some machinations from his patrons that he would be unaware of until Tetsu was sixteen. Jun sent his son to be raised by his parents, moved to a city closer to the village, and continued his work for another decade.

When Tetsu was about eleven, Jun decided to leave the life of a courtesan behind and, at the request the Circle, he opened an arcana shop in a frontier town set to have something of a boom and has been running the Firelit Star since. At least until some Shenanigans occur (thanks, Your Majesty) and Jun finds himself working to stop some dracoliches from causing Problems. At thirty-five. What the hell.

Canon Personality: Jun is many things, but Jun will be the first to tell you he is an impulsive, selfish man who does things without thinking and generally without caring if other people will approve of his decisions. He doesn't bother to tell people things they may want to know (though if it's important he will share what he knows), preferring to keep his cards close to his chest in most cases. This has led to a few missteps, but he, like all trickster types, will just ignore those as time passes.

He'll also be the first to tell you that he's nothing special, despite many people telling him otherwise, though he is starting to work past this as it's hard to think you're nothing special when you're dating the Queen of Summer. And also responsible for saving the Fae. It's a work in progress, however, and Jun will always think his friends and family more spectacular than he himself is. This may be why he's always keen to buy them whatever they want if he can and shower them with affection and gifts. Shopping may be the one thing outside of work for his Queen that Jun will do without any prodding. He's talented, but he's also lazy. He's never had to try, after all, and he doesn't really see much of a point in starting now.

Unless the Queen requests it.

AU History: Born to a doctor and a professor in Osaka, Jun's early life is as close to his original version's as possible in a modern setting. The biggest differences are:

-no patron from birth
-no son (yet)
-host, not a courtesan
-at sixteen, rather than bandits-and-his-patron-helping, Jun was very nearly killed by a mugger on a trip to Tokyo when he was eighteen and he was subsequently possessed by a kitsune, which is when Jun realized that the supernatural was real

He's now currently in Kaisou because a patron of his host club that he suspects to be an agent of his kitsune arranged to get him here for...some vaguely sketch reason. Jun suspects magical item smuggling.

AU Personality Differences: This Jun is a little less refined, both because he's ten years younger than his original self and also because he never really needed to cultivate that sort of refined air. He's also significantly more unsure about what he's actually good for aside from being pretty, since here he has no destiny to save the Fae Realm.

Element: Fire!
Purchased Powers: Sense presence of others within 50 feet (General, 2 points)
Resistance to heat up to 100F (38*C) (Fire, 1 point)
Possession: Jun is possessed by a nine-tailed kitsune. His contract price is that it is impossible to hide his possession: anyone familiar with the supernatural will see nine little balls of fire called kitsunebi floating around him at all times, and both normies and supernaturals tend to just feel that something isn't Quite Natural about Jun and will generally distrust him at first go.

Character Name: Noriaki Kakyoin (AU name: Tenmei Kakyoin)
Canon: JoJo's Bizarre Adventure
Canon History: JJBA wiki

Canon Personality:
🍒 Introverted
🍒 Polite and kind of formal
🍒 Proud
🍒 Seriously, he despises having to bow down or kiss up to anyone
🍒 Doesn't have a lot of friends but cares intensely about the ones he does have
🍒 Loyal
🍒 Vindictive
🍒 Shockingly violent!
🍒 Intellectual
🍒 Quick-thinking
🍒 Analytical
🍒 Strategic

AU History: Tenmei Kakyoin was born to a rather ordinary Japanese family--the only thing that might have been a bit out of the ordinary was how often the family moved, but even that had a pretty mundane explanation--one of the parents had a job that necessitated frequent moving. Due to this, Kakyoin never really had much in the way of friends, at least not ones in real life. In lieu of this, Kakyoin turned to online interaction for a social life; he wouldn't be losing contact with them every time he moved, after all. In particular, he turned to online gaming to occupy his time.

Now, his family's moved to Kaisou with the tentative promise that they'd be staying here a bit longer than they usually do; regardless of whether or not Kakyoin actually believes this doesn't matter. He's gonna be distracted soon enough, after all!

AU Personality Differences:
🍒 Perhaps the biggest difference between Noriaki Kakyoin and Tenmei Kakyoin is the presence of Hierophant Green and the effect (or lack thereof) that has on their childhoods. While both Kakyoins have some degree of the whole Friendless Background going on, Tenmei didn't willingly withdraw from others the way Noriaki did on the basis of feeling others would fundamentally be unable to understand him. No, it was just "why get too attached to others when I'm just going to leave them behind anyway". Still not great, but better! Probably!
🍒 On that note, said Friendless Background is actually mitigated slightly on Tenmei's end! Having an online social life helped out! He's at least less lonely than Noriaki was.
🍒 Honestly Tenmei's probably a bit less violent and ruthless than Noriaki in general. Still pretty vindictive though.

Character Name: Amal Vasiya
Canon: Final Fantasy XIV (OC)
Canon Point: Post Shadowbringers (patch 5.5)
History: A very general overview of the expansions here, but something more personal follows!

Born in Radz-at-Han to a merchant's daughter and a very enthusiastic Hyuran adventurer, Amal was nevertheless consigned to a life of difficulties. He was abandoned soon after birth-- his father having run off, and his mother embarrassed by a child out of wedlock-- and taken in by the local orphanage. As these things go, times were incredibly difficult for the orphanage and he never quite felt like he belonged. He fell in with a crowd who didn't care about his heritage, and they taught him how to steal enough to survive, and then how to fight. His childhood thus troubled, he was caught and punished several times up through adulthood for petty theft and scamming people out of money. With every scar he earned from their ire, he got a new tattoo. The targets of his thievery were always the same: wealthy people, and those who seemingly deserved to be taken down a peg. And when he could, he gave to the other hungry kids in the slummy parts of the city he grew up in. When the Calamity hit he was seventeen and in chains, which would end up being a sort of reoccurring theme, unfortunately.

The turning point for Amal was a rough stay in a jail cell followed by a grueling couple of years on Radz-at-Han's infamous "pleasure barges". His disobedient nature refused to dim no matter how much he was punished, and he was traded between several high-profile barge owners until he was able to escape. The whipping scars on his back, though covered by a tree tattoo later, were difficult to miss... which was why he generally kept them covered afterward. After that experience, he decided that stealing wasn't worth nearly dying for it, and began to pursue dancing (and looking attractive) more seriously.

Radz-at-Han wasn't a terribly small port city but it was still an island, and Amal's reputation was unshakably that of a thief and ne'er-do-well by the time he hit adulthood. This penchant for trouble would earn him several misadventures in taverns during his youth and even as an adult. His passion for music and adventure and freedom only served to make him seem more like a burden than a virtuous thief, even when he had had enough and tried to earn a living the right way. He needed a new start... and Eorzea after the Calamity was a good place to do that. Despite the treatment he received from his fellows in Thavnair, a kindhearted Arkasodara helped get him onto a boat to Limsa Lominsa, a hint that perhaps things weren't as dire as he thought.

Amal wasn't looking for attachments, exactly. Living life constantly on the move made it difficult for him to make friends, let alone keep them. And it was safer that way, too, if he just helped people anonymously and vanished back into the night, as some kind of atonement for all the hurting he'd done to others over the years. That was how he made his start in Eorzea, attributing the headaches and visions and weird voices to aether sickness-- until he was told the truth and handed a destiny he didn't ask for.

A REALM REBORN
The mission of the Warrior of Light only convinced Amal that isolating himself was the right thing to do. And he was doing a good job of it too, just going from town to town, helping people, not staying long enough to develop feelings for anything in particular. He lived life as free as the wind-- until he was called back to the Waking Sands and found his colleagues kidnapped, missing, or slaughtered. Numb with shock, the care of the corpses was placed in his hands (quite literally), and Amal came to realize that this... was not a game. Not at all. There were lives at stake. The uneasy mantle of 'hero' didn't suit him, but there was no one else to shuffle this responsibility onto.

So it... fell to him, the reluctant ex-thief who danced with knives as much as chakrams. He played his part well enough, taking down Gaius van Baelsar and ushering in (what they thought) was a new, brighter turn for the Scions. But it became clear that things were not as simple as that, and suddenly, Amal found himself a refugee once again, outrunning a bloody name and wondering if he'd lost his only family.

HEAVENSWARD
Amal's reserved nature began to crack and reveal the deep-seated bitterness beneath. Though he was "exotic" to most Eorzeans, this was only magnified in Ishgard, where he was painfully outlandish and of mixed heritage. (He found some similarities with Hilda, surprising absolutely no one.) His traveling companions, varied as they were, became his dear friends-- but none more than Haurchefant, who had taken him in before. Haurchefant and Amal had quite a lot in common, but Haurchefant had purpose. Drive. A family. He was kind and protective, and Amal fell for him so very hard.

It made losing Haurchefant all the more painful. As Amal was drawn deeper into the war, he no longer attempted to mask any disdain he had for the upper class. This earned him more than a little trouble with the knights under Thordan's command, something only exacerbated as the man's ambitions came to light. By the end of the Dragonsong War, Amal had lost that little spark of optimism, or at least buried it beneath his grief. He existed only to do what needed to be done, and his victories-- though important-- felt incredibly hollow. More and more he was convinced he was the wrong man for the job, that if he had been stronger or perhaps someone else entirely, Haurchefant wouldn't have died. And this guilt would follow him into the next adventure, and the one after that, while he pushed through it for the sake of the Scions.

STORMBLOOD
Amal played the role of hero but his spirit wasn't in it. The conflict against Garlemald hit a fever pitch and he was everyone's ace up their sleeve, fighting for independence for two countries he had no ties to as a diplomatic favor. Of course he felt for the subjugated, and of course he didn't support Garlemald in the slightest, but to him it became less about the Resistance and more about taking out his anger and frustration on imperial forces as he cursed his powerlessness. More blood was spilled, and in the end he was even denied the chance to put Zenos' reign to an end, as the prince took his own life. Naturally that wasn't meant to last, though, and he would end up facing down Zenos again and nearly losing to the Ascian possessing his body, as his friends fell unconscious and were spirited to another realm.

SHADOWBRINGERS
That other realm held a familiar voice, the tone of a friend. He heeded the siren's call as he had no other choice at that point and discovered more about the workings of the reflections, the truths hidden from him by Hydaelyn, and how much he hated self-sacrifice. G'raha Tia had taken everything Amal had started and turned it into something beautiful and hopeful and everlasting, had saved these people had given his bitter journey meaning, and only then did Amal finally begin to realize he wasn't alone. No one else was going to do this hero stuff for him. He wasn't destined to be here, though-- he was doing this by his own volition, now. And so, he made a promise he intended to keep: a promise to take his old friend G'raha on a new adventure when they returned home.

Naturally, they only got a brief reprieve before Zenos and his pet cackling robed wizard started bringing about the apocalypse, so this adventure would have to be postponed.

Personality:

🔆 Charming. He is energetic, mostly positive, and very magnetic. He likes to entertain and make people laugh.
🔆 Deceptive. The other side of this is that he hides what he's feeling behind a mask of nonchalance, pretending he hasn't a care in the world when it comes to his own problems.
🔆 Manipulative. He sometimes likes to push buttons for the sake of pushing buttons. He also has a silver tongue and can talk himself out of trouble.
🔆 Puts others first. He wouldn't need to talk himself out of trouble if he stopped running headlong into it in the first place. He'll easily rush in to protect others, which has gotten him nearly killed a few times.
🔆 Impulsive. Violence isn't the answer. It's the question and the answer is 'yes'.
🔆 Thrillseeker. He likes to push the limits, whether it be climbing to great heights, exploring new places, eating food hot enough to burn skin, or simply testing the boundaries of someone's patience.
🔆 Passionate. Amal is truly creative and he loves expressing himself through dance and music. He also loves stories, whether it's telling them or hearing them.
🔆 Distant. Though warm and seemingly straightforward about some things, he keeps people at arm's length. One might realize they know him but don't know what he's thinking. This is by his own design.
🔆 Slow to trust. As a half-elf he earns the ire of some he meets for being neither Hyur nor Elezen, while others treat him as less than human because he's a foreigner and an oddity. He has a high opinion of literally no one. But if someone surprises him in a good way, he might be fond.
🔆 Vain. He takes a lot of pride in his appearance-- his scars, his tattoos, his weirdness, all of it. Dressing and acting provocatively is his way of taking control of the narrative.
🔆 Stubborn. Sometimes he needs to be yelled at a couple times for something to get through his thick head.
🔆 Despises authority. The caste system he grew up with has made him resent the rich and powerful. Ishgard, the frozen land of Catholic elves and nobility, is his least favorite city he's had to live in.
🔆 Lone wolf. He thinks he's better off alone because he just brings misfortune to the people around him, something that comes up later to bite him in the ass. He's working on it, though, and learning to ask for help.
🔆 Thinks he's weak. He still feels like he isn't worthy to be the hero everyone paints him out to be, but he does it because no one else can.
🔆 Haunted. Amal is unable to forgive himself for not being strong enough to save everyone, particularly the man he fell in love with. He has a lot of deep-seated trauma from all of the head injuries his checkered past.
🔆 Denial. Amal's solution to many of his problems is to run, though he's tired of running at this point. Still, he has held the truth of his troubled background back from the Scions and his other friends, and he ran away from home to escape jail time. Facing the truth is difficult for him.
🔆 Fears abandonment. Though he feels like he needs to shoulder his burdens alone and never tell anyone anything, by that same token he's terrified of being abandoned by the people he loves. His lowest point was when most of his friends were presumed missing or dead and he lost the man he admired.
🔆 Loves freedom. Amal values his personal freedom above all else. If he feels that he's being manipulated or used, he has no problems vanishing.
🔆 Loyal? On the other hand, if something is very dear to him, he will do everything in his power to protect it.
🔆 Share the wealth. Amal is motivated by good deeds. Though he's a shady bastard by choice, he likes to help those less fortunate. He has a soft spot for the poor and downtrodden as he was one of them. He doesn't want fame or fortune, he just wants to be free to travel and make people's lives easier for a time, to meet new people, to... make friends.
🔆 Berserk button. Amal wears so many masks and plays so many roles for people that he sometimes forgets what he's really feeling. He has deep-seated resentment and rage at the way he was treated in the past and-- on rare occasions-- this can end with him losing control.
🔆 Reluctant to forgive and forget. However, if someone shows signs of wanting to repent or they weren't all that bad in the first place, he's willing to keep an eye on them and give them a second chance. Begrudgingly.
🔆 Competitive. Amal loves a good throw down.
🔆 Do no lasting harm... unless you're terrible. Amal isn't afraid to get his hands dirty and kill someone, but he hates doing it unless it's the merciful option or there simply isn't any other choice.

Time of Arrival to Kaisou: Six months! He couch surfs, but otherwise he's been taking jobs exclusively under the table. Labor in cash, busking, bodyguarding, fetching weird ingredients-- he's also good at Miscellaneous Adventurer Stuff on top of petty crime. He doesn't like to kill people though & will only steal from people who are rich and deserve it (in his eyes), which does make him something of an oddity.

Items:
- set of chakrams for throwing
- at least four throwing knives (sorry, it's more weapons)
- one curved dagger/jambiya of Thavnairian make (oh look, another weapon)
- the dancer gear that he's currently wearing
- a well-loved lute (also a weapon, if pressed)

Retained Ability: Ummm his retained ability will be absolutely nothing because Amal's luck is either really good or really bad and nothing in between!

Character Name: makima; au is makima mastema
Canon: chainsaw man
Canon History: here

Canon Personality:
— manipulative
— pragmatic
— witty
— lacks much of human empathy
— thinly layered with kindness
— absolutely lonely

AU History:

— normal family, raised well, good grades as a kid and support (though she was the one kid who saw ghosts and shit and never said anything). she has a law degree, and began her career aimed at crime and on prosecution; interested in seeking out a federal job, possibly a field agent or intel. she's basically at their doors now because of a great cv.
— hasn't had much luck on the relationship front, but she has decided to adopt a newborn to soak up her overabundance of hormones and desire to be a mother and construct a family before she's too busy in her career to and her oocyte number runs low. 'tis a baby boy named lilith.
— pre-planned cr includes: abel, the babysitter; jun + minato, cousins, same side family; crow, the dude she locked up back in the day; naoto, looking up to makima as law senpai and milf crush.

AU Personality Differences:

— she had a healthy childhood! she has relationships. she has a baby and the start of a growing family, something that twisted the control devil into the anti-villain she was in csm.
— she can be manipulative to get what she wants, she's still cunning— but not overly condescending, unless she feels the need to be. makima can now see others as equals, as colleagues, and this makes a huge difference for her.
— because of the mentioned points above, she's kinder. she's more genuine and definitely, above all, more human.

Purchased Powers: her swirly hypno eyes. nothing special about them, only a little creepy and just there for aesthetic!

Character Name: Naoto Shirogane
Canon: Persona 4
Canon History: Wiki link

Canon Personality:

  • Defensive - Doesn't like being looked down on and hides her gender (even if that doesn't work)

  • Hardworking

  • Desperate to prove herself and willing to put her life on the line

  • ^ Secretly has a childish side that likes gadgets and Featherman Rangers

  • ^^ Also scared of ghosts, even if she'll argue blind that they don't exist.

  • No social skills - She can only talk to people in a business setting and can't do casual conversation

  • Calculating - She's the one to suggest how to murder a guy without leaving evidence

AU History:
Naoto's led a pretty simple life. For the first six years she was a cheerful child, her mother worked with the police and her father was an author. She'd run around catching bugs, climbing trees and read. Then there was a car accident and they died, leaving Naoto in her grandfather's care. That dulled the cheer a lot, for a long time Naoto would just sit and read, hiding away in her grandfather's store in Brick Alley. The only people she'd really speak with were her classmates, the few people who were persistent enough for her to talk during lunch breaks and her grandfather.

The paranormal has always been an aspect of her life, though for the longest time Naoto never acknowledged it. Partly because when she was young it was just something she got used to. Being able to always see the letters clearly or not needing to turn a light on. It was only when she got older and realised the reason she didn't need a light was because of the little dancing orb that would follow her.

So here she is, trying to work out how these powers she'd got work and what she can do with them. While also helping her grandfather at his store and studying electrical engineering at the local college.

AU Personality Differences: AU Naoto is simultaneously better and worse off in this AU. She's better because she's not under constant pressure and trying to prove herself. This makes her less defensive and inclined to be snippy with people, however, it also means she's less likely to stand her ground and hide away instead. So she's still a social failure, maybe even more so because she can't put on her detective business face to get through things.

Element: Light (Glass cannon in the games lol)
Purchased Powers:
- 20/10 vision (I thought this was a typo but it turns out 20/10 US is the same as 20/20 in UK because that makes sense)
- Conjure a ping-pong size ball of light
- Slightly improbable luck

Other Characters: I'll app Katsuki in a few and his personality will be so much longer because I have apps for him

Character Name: Minato Arisato
Canon: Persona 3
Canon History: Enjoy yourself

Canon Personality:
• Calm. Minato rarely seems ruffled by anything, and tends to seem pretty quiet and reserved as a result. He doesn't get excited about a lot and kind of just vibes with the world...

• A little bit aloof, but he doesn't really have anything against other people. He started out very much locked in his own world, and then grew to have bonds with many people, to the point he would do anything for the world that had those people in it.

• He's very kind despite being pretty blunt and occasionally seeming eccentric to others.

• Charismatic, despite his habitual quietness/distance; people tend to like him. Possibly because he's the world's best listener when it comes to being a receptacle for trauma dumping? Tends to only speak when addressed and otherwise just chills in the background. He's a cat.

• Sleepy/lethargic. He also has a huge appetite to the point of comedy.
AU History:
• Grew up in a normal family; doesn't have specific paranormal powers in his specific branch of the family tree, but Minato himself has always been slightly supernaturally sensitive...he also just ignored it for most of his life.

• Was in a pretty horrific car accident at the age of ten. No one else in his family was injured or killed (unless idk he had a sibling who doesn't currently exist, I'm open to that being a thing someday if so) but he did almost die - to the point he needed some help with the staying alive part. So, for the past decade or so he's been living under the care (?) of a god of death.

• He's otherwise lived a fairly ordinary life. ...Beyond the part where he now interacts with the supernatural on the regular, and is a part of it. Minato doesn't squander his second chance, since he knows what it is, and genuinely tries harder to spend time with his loved ones.

• He has no idea what the hell he is studying in college, that said. He's? Sort of? Just taking a bunch of general education classes as he tries to figure it out.

• Has two cousins (Jun & Makima) & rooms with Aure. Friendly terms with several other people!
AU Personality Differences:
• He didn't lose his parents as a child, so he does have a solid family around for him. This means he never got quite as distant, although a certain amount of distance popped up once he became possessed.

• He's a little more willing to interact with others as the initiator without prompting, although he's still pretty willing to let everyone else decide what they're doing.

• Essentially the same dude. He actually KNOWS about his possession, so he's ahead of the curve, and it doesn't seem to guarantee his death yet, so that's...nice? Part of his eternal chill is being possessed at a young age and learning fast strong emotions would fuck things up. But also, he was always pretty chill.
Element: Shadow
Purchased Powers:
- Low level shadow manipulation (2 points)
- Slightly better night vision. (1 point)
Possession: Shinigami/death god! His price is twofold: firstly, his basic needs such as eating, drinking, and sleeping have to be done for two people or he won't be able to function at a normal level. Secondly, he is unable to refuse to hear people out when it comes to their problems, and is required to give a solid effort to help at least one person per day who comes to him with issues. He has to determine which person will be his price before completing it or it doesn't count, so he can't get by on lazily helping anyone whenever and just assuming it works.

(I am open to better ideas for prices because I'm sitting here blanking and want to submit this, okay.)

Other Characters: Minato hopefully

Character Name: Katsuki Bakugo
Canon: My Hero Academia
Canon History: Here you go!

Canon Personality:
( + ) Despite being extremely antagonistic just in general even when he's in "neutral" mode, Katsuki isn't a bad person at his core. Yes, he bullied the main character in their childhood and yes, he is an asshole pretty regularly to everyone he knows, but Katsuki actually leans harder into the "his bark is worse than his bite" trope these days in the manga more than he doesn't and even during his bullying days he mostly bullied Deku verbally than anything else, with only one incident stepping over the line where he blew up Deku's notebook (in previous incidents he'd even returned the notebook to Deku unharmed after snatching it from his "friends" who snatched it from Deku first).

( + ) Even if he bitches to hell and back about helping his idiot friends and classmates, Katsuki will actually almost always end up helping. He just has to be a melodramatic bitch about everything, because he's an emotionally stunted moron. He wants to be a hero more than anything else, and as a result he actually does want to help people out in his own brash kind of way, but he's...not great at making it obvious?

( + ) Katsuki is also a very intelligent person despite the hair trigger temper and his tendency to overreact to everything. Katsuki, when he's calm, gives good and honest advice that's well-thought through and which usually helps those who have been lucky enough to earn it from him. He's also able to come up with regularly winning strategies in battle at the drop of a hat, relying on instinct and talent to finish things flawlessly. He's one of the top students in his class scholastically despite the way he looks like a thug, and it shows. Katsuki can occasionally show his more serious and mature side verbally as well so long as no one taps any of his many rage buttons. Even when he's being angry-grumpy, however, he can come off as more thoughtful than you'd think from the outset. When visiting the Todoroki family, for example, Katsuki yells a lot about how they should keep their private matters private, but he also loudly yells about cleaning up (he does most of it with Deku) and yell-compliments the cooking and so on and so forth.

( - ) When it comes to Katsuki's downsides, they are all pretty much centered on the same thing: his ridiculous temper and his superiority/inferiority complex. Despite having a huge ego and a lot of pride, Katsuki actually gets bent out of shape when he perceives people to be better than him, although he's getting vaguely better about this as the manga continues. His biggest problem with Deku has always been that he got it in his head that Deku thought he was "better" than Katsuki because Deku repeatedly tried to help him out - which never meant Deku thought he was weak (it was the opposite) but which the younger Katsuki took to be just that because people didn't actually usually offer him a hand up since he pretty much never needed one.

( - ) Katsuki has a hard time being traditionally nice to people (he has rude bitch disease) and he isn't always the smoothest about teamwork - in-universe, he's pulled it off because he's always worked with people who put up with his bullshit. With strangers who don't Get him, it's harder.

( - ) He appears to mostly be an extreme introvert who prefers not to hang around other people when he has the choice and who doesn't see any reason for social niceties at all ever. What friends he does gather tend to ignore his grumpiness and insults and just sort of laugh at him, and while he'll yell back at them he does just let them flit around him and hang off him with a sort of low-level grumbly sort of emotion.
AU History:
• Grew up in Japan, but moved when he was around twelve. He comes from a paranormal/supernaturally inclined family. I'm thinking sort of like exorcists, but they're not exactly exorcists; they just sort of deal with Problems. Is that a thing? If not, they're just sensitive and nosy.

• His parents are in the fashion business. Katsuki has done some modeling and hates it. His mom still makes him do it sometimes anyway.

• Katsuki's majoring in Chemistry, but takes biochem/engineering/etc because he's a weird overachiever who cannot be stopped. He works part-time as a barista, where he terrorizes the general populace because of course he does.
AU Personality Differences:
• He's only slightly less of an asshole, because he never got into a weird snit about Izuku/other childhood friends and therefore didn't spend a decade bullying someone for trying to help him stand up after he fell over. However, he's still not exactly a nice guy - he's good in many ways, he's just...not particularly nice.

• He's otherwise the same, minus the obvious "he doesn't have a huge hero thing" because that's not really a thing in modern days. He's focused on his studies and his own life and doesn't really pay a lot of attention to other people.
Element: Fire
Purchased Powers:
- Low level fire manipulation (2 points)

Other Characters: Jun Kohinata

Character Name:
Canon: Zelos Wilder
Canon Point: Post Death (aka kratos route)
History: here!

Personality:
No one wanted Zelos to be born.

This is a truth that he's lived with his whole life. Despite being born a Chosen, someone who was supposed to bring salvation to the world-- the world decided before he was even old enough to even begin to fulfill his role that he'd never be good enough. The Pope and King saw him as a threat to their power, the heavens saw him as a waste of a Chosen, the people didn't care about him beyond improving their own status - even his own parents saw him nothing more than a burden.

Which if that isn't going to screw up someone, then I don't know what will.

From a young age, Zelos learned to trust no one. No one cared about him, so why should he care about anyone else? And thus he holds everyone at arms length, and encourages no one to try to look closer by always acting like an obnoxious flirtateous asshole. While he certainly has an active libido, he plays it up as a mean of asserting power and control in one of the few ways he has. It's the same way he acts much stupider than he actually is. He's actually very bright and observant, enough so that he knows that being seen as smart will mark him as a threat.

While he's the first to proclaim that he's a crappy Chosen, deep down? He very much embraces many of the tendencies Chosens have. He's self-sacrificing to the extreme, always refraining from complaining about his true burdens (though he'll whine about things that don't matter). He has no real self-worth either, being willing to throw away his own life quite literally in order to give his sister Seles a chance at a better one (which is a stupid plan and doesn't work, but the intent is there). And he really does care more than he lets on, both about the world and the people around him.

Whether anyone will get to see that side of him however, now that his guard is higher than ever, well...we'll see.

Time of Arrival to Kaisou: It's been about a year! He's been living in an apartment Zodiac gave him and doing odd jobs for them. All while keeping a low profile for the most part.
Items: Sword, Shield, Cruxis Crystal, very bloodied clothes that are long gone.
Retained Ability: The skill we all use him for -- First Aid!

Character Name: Chongyun (Chongyun Xin for the AU)
Canon: Genshin Impact
Canon History: Here

Canon Personality:
★ Very positive
-- Even if something goes wrong he can make it a positive. Sometimes with creative thinking.
★ Hard working
-- Takes his training to be an exorcist rather seriously. Sometimes too seriously.
★ Determined
★ Stoic
-- Tries very hard to be as calm and collected as possible, which makes him appear standoffish
★ Socially awkward
-- Is so determined to be the best exorcist that he has not had much time for social interactions

AU History:
- Moved to Kaisou when he was little since his family decided this was a better place to settle down and continue the family business. What is the family business? It's not something he was overly concerned with since he had others in front of him who would take it over before Chongyun was considered.
- He'd been raised to always represent the family well, so Chongyun didn't get up to what a lot of other children did. This makes him socially awkward at times since he's not fully caught up to trends and memes. He's especially behind on memes.
- The only real friend Chongyun had for most of his life was Xingqiu. He would sometimes spend his summers with the Feiyun family.
- High school was a strange time for Chongyun. He spent a lot of time watching videos on his phone, especially of the ghost hunting variety. He had attempted to look for ghosts very unsuccessfully on his own and made a failed attempt to create a paranormal club at his school. In the end, Chongyun just became the type of student who went home and studied.
- Since he ended up as a pretty good student due to that, Chongyun managed to get into Kaisou University in the history department. He plans on becoming a historian like a few people in his family have been.
- To fit in better, Chongyun speaks predominantly English. He can understand Mandarin, but don't ask him to reply in it.

AU Personality Differences:
- Doesn't try to contain his excitement as swiftly as with his canon self when with friends
- Since he isn't aware he needs to keep cool to keep his Yang spirit calm, Chongyun might be a little more willing to try spicy foods. Then regret it by passing out from overheating. Rinse, repeat.
- Doesn't want to destroy spirits, but instead catch them on camera. Chongyun wants to get into ghost hunting because it seems exciting, not aware that most of it is just faked for the views.

Element: Water
Purchased Powers:
- Reduced need for sleep (5 HRS) (1 point)
- Withstand temperatures as cold as 0F (-18*C) without a coat (2 points)

Canon History: Wikipedia link

Canon Personality:

- Studious and well-read, Xingqiu is very astute when it comes to knowledge and reading
- Likable and social but can come off as a little chatty or snooty
- Mischievous and playful and likes to pull harmless pranks on people that he likes
- Believes in doing the right thing and has a strong sense of justice
- Tends to daydream or be dreamy about the stories he reads or writes
- Can be curt or sharp-tongued when he feels the need to be
- Calm and collected even under pressure even with negative emotions like anger or frustration
- Disorganized but tends to have a photographic memory anyway
- Sweet and kind and will go out of his way to help his closest friends
- Overprotective in the sense that he will try to stop or pay off people who have wronged the people he cares about
- Will not hesitate to pay money to see Chongyun do something stupid, he's that kind of friend

AU History:

- The Feiyun family is an affluent "old-money" Chinese family that built their money on printing. As old as when printing paper became industrialized, they have been a profitable business for generations. Most people will pick up books or textbooks these days to find them printed or managed by the Feiyun name.
- Originally his mother wanted Xingqiu to pursue a career in medicine and become a doctor while his father wanted him to take over part of the business with his eldest brother. But Xingqiu, finding love in books and literature decided to pursue writing in University instead. There is still some contention with his family as they try to convince him otherwise.
- For now, he still has all the access in the world to his family's money and a hefty trust fund to fall back on.
- Xingqiu has one older brother who is set to be the head of the family after his father.
- As he has lived in several places before moving to Kaisou he is multilingual. His first language being Mandarin followed by English, Cantonese and Taiwanese.
- Chongyun has been his childhood friend since they were small. He is very fond and protective of him. He's of mind that he's the only one allowed to bully Chongyun.

AU Personality Differences:
- He's straight-up dorodere. Xingqiu is sweet and smiles on the outside but is extremely quick to hold grudges on the inside. He'll always try to do what he wants and get what he wants but he'll always do it with a conniving but sweet face.
- A bit more openly calculating.

♬ Free-spirited
♬ Energetic
♬ Easy-going
♬ Friendly
♬ Passionate
♬ Hard-working
♬ Competitive
♬ Honest
♬ Superstitious (re: paranormal, ghosts, etc.) and spooked by it, even if she tries to act cool
♬ Stubborn
♬ Tenacious

AU History: An is a 17 year old high school student who is extremely passionate about music. Her father was a well known and extremely talented musician, so she grew up surrounded by music and fell in love with it at an early age. Unlike original canon, her father's music career brought him here from Japan to America, and ultimately when he retired, it was in Kaisou that they settled down. She knows a bit a thing or two about traveling, but she's also really fond of their home here in Brick Alley. She's passionate about pursuing her own music, and is determined to one day surpass her father's most successful event with one of her own and share with people that same incredible feeling that she got from watching him that day.

On top of school, she also works part time at a nearby cafe. When she's not at school or working, she's usually either practicing or putting on performances wherever she can. Whether it's by herself or with whoever she can get to jam with her, she always puts her all into her performances. She sings, dances and writes her own lyrics. And most of her money she earns goes back into music-- although she also keeps her own mint which she grows and uses in her teas and cookie as a little hobby on the side.

AU Personality Differences: None.

Other Characters: An Shiraishi

Character Name: Edna / Hephsin Yulind
Canon: Tales of Zestiria
Canon History: wiki

Canon Personality: On one hand, you have the way she acts-- sassy, confident, teasing, and strong. She's totally unfazed by anything, trust her (don't).

But on the other, you have the reality in which she's actually quite lonely and socially unsure of herself.

Her attitude is somewhat apathetic, spoken with a dry sense of humor about it. But she likes to say over-the-top kinds of things. Those she teases the most are often the ones she likes the most and she'll often give them nicknames.

AU History: She lost both of her parents at an extremely young age-- so much so that she really has very little recollection of them. Instead, she was raised almost entirely by her older brother. However, when he became older, he left home to follow his dream. She wanted to go with him, but he insisted he couldn't be dragging her all over, that she needed to finish school here. Of course he continues to financially support her and sends her quite a great number of gifts and a very impressive allowance that allows her to live more than comfortably.

But she does the majority of her schooling online, in her first year of college now. She's an art major, who specializes in painting, particularly landscapes and portraits. Her hobbies include video games, anime/manga, karaoke, sewing, gardening and shopping. A good deal of her sewing goes towards cosplaying or making her own outfits or accessories, but she sometimes makes merch to sell to on her own little shop for her favorite shows along with prints of some of her fan art.

AU Personality Differences: She's less bitter, less sad and doesn't feel nearly as disconnected from others as she is in canon (at least from the outset). And through cosplay and online communication she can actually be herself a bit more without all the fronting.

Element: Earth
Purchased Powers:
- Low level earth manipulation (2 points)

Character Name: Nero
Canon: Devil May Cry
Canon History: Link is here

Canon Personality:
+ Sassy
+ Smart
+ Adaptable
+ Friendly
+ Kind, but is very good at hiding it to most people on first impressions
+ Can be gentle and considerate if the situation calls for it
+ Reliable
+ Determined
- Stubborn
- Still has a temper
- Anger issues if he wants
- Also swears as much as he likes when he's upset
- Can 100% act like an asshole
- Wears his heart on his sleeve
- Can also be explosive if he wants/feels he has to be

AU History: Nero, aka Nox Miller, and has basically had a pretty normal upbringing. Born as the only child to a mother and father who were diligent and loving parents, he was raised with important morals and a drive to do well in whatever he wanted to pursue. He played basketball mostly through school, until an injury benched him for the rest of the season. In doing so, he found he enjoyed being assistant more than a player, so he served as his coach's assistant until he graduated. Fast forward several years, Nox went to college outside Kaisou, got his degree, then came back to become a full-time basketball coach at the local high school. He also works as the school's gym teacher.

AU Personality Differences: Nox is much more subtle in his emotions, having been raised in a normal household and given a good childhood by his parents. There's no sassy comments or assholish exterior, either- he's just a nice guy! And seems to be pretty calm and professional, not overly confident. Other than that, he's got around the same kind of views of wanting to help people and being pretty kind underneath.
