OLD PAGE. GO TO THE CURRENT APP PAGE HERE

Okay so application is a very strong word and not entirely accurate, but it's a term we all know so bear with me. This is the page where you officially submit your character information for the game! Apps will not really be judged on its contents but more making sure everything fits into the setting of the game. If you want more information on the setting, please check out the FAQ!

How do I join the game?
This app page is currently open! Apps can be submitted by players at anytime. Apps are reviewed by the mod on Sundays.

To join the game, the only big thing is you'll require an invite from another player. Players can invite up to 2 people per month. Just be sure to list their name and have the person confirm that they did invite you either by contacting the mods directly or commenting to your app. Apps that do not have a invitation confirmation will not be looked at by the mods. If a confirmation does not come within two Sundays of the app's submission, it'll be automatically rejected.

A new player must be in the game one full month from their app acceptance date before they can invite another player (meaning if their app was approved on September 18th, they can invite people starting October 18th). This is so the new player has a chance to get acclimated to the game and community enough to assist any friends they later invite to the game.

Players who were in the game but who dropped/were swept will not need an invite to rejoin the game for up to one month after their drop date. After that month, they will require an invite to rejoin.

Once you submit your app, you'll get a welcome comment confirming that everything is a-okay. The only times I'll ask for revisions is if there needs to be a fix with power purchases or possessions.

Is there a player cap?
There is a player cap! Kaisou allows a total of 75 players. Should we ever reach cap, apps will close until openings become available.

PLAYER SLOTS: 46/75 filled.

What kind of characters do you allow?
Most things! Canon characters, Original characters, CRAU, AU characters - the list goes on. Double characters are also allowed so long as the doubles are notably different from one another (examples: MCU Peter Parker and Into the Spider-verse Peter Parker would be fine as they are two clearly different interpretations of the character. Alternatively, a canon version of a character and an AU version of the same character would be fine as long as the AU causes a notable difference in the character). Customizable protagonists and characters from canons with different story routes are allowed, and any characters with differing story routes would be considered AUs from one another.

The only requirement for a character is that they do require a consistent canon history. This is because many of the plot events and mechanics deal with memories and connections to their previous life (or current life if an OU). If you wish to app a mascot character that doesn't have a specific canon background (a vocalid, clippy, the trix rabbit, etc) - you are welcome to write an OC that's inspired by the character with a clear established background to work from. Characters who have multiple canon iterations (like Link from Legend of Zelda or Sonic the Hedgehog) will need to pick a single iteration to pull their canon background from. Characters must also have been properly introduced (not just a quick cameo) in their canon for at least one month at the time of apping.

How many characters can I play at a time?
You can play up to four active characters at a time! Only two of these characters are allowed to be Original Universe and there is a player cap of 25 OU players.

OU PLAYER SLOTS: 24/35 filled.

At the start of each month, we will make sure there are at least 2 OU player slots open whether it be through drops, or adding extra slots. But to keep from one cast from dominating the limited OU slots, there is a OU cast cap of 6 characters per cast. There's no cap on AUs from the canon at this time, just OUs!

Casts near Cap:
Final Fantasy XIV - 6/6, OUS CAPPED

How frequently can I submit an app?
There is no time restraint on the first two characters you app. If you join the game with the intent of playing two characters, you can app them both immediately or wait it out! However after you app your second character, you will require to wait one month between each new character app (so if you app your second character on March 2nd, you will need to wait until April 2nd to app a new character).

What type of characters can I play in this setting?
You have three options for characters!
  • Normal Modern AU: These characters have lived normal lives in a modern Earth setting, completely oblivious to anything strange up until their entry into the game. Anything in their backstory should be events that could reasonably happen in the real world. Upon acceptance, Normal AUs will be allowed to pick one free regain (canon regain or an elemental power) worth up to 3 points that will come into effect after they join the game.

  • Paranormal Modern AU: These are characters who have grown up in a modern Earth setting, but throughout their lives have experienced supernatural occurrences. These characters will get 3 extra points when they app to use for powers that the acquired at some point in their lives (if they so choose). Characters are also allowed to be apped as possessed status. Please refer to the FAQ for more information on that!

  • Original Universe Characters: Characters who hail from their original world and find themselves waking up in this world. These characters will not lose any memories, and are allowed to have any items that would reasonably be on their person when they arrive. They are allowed to retain one ability that's been weakened to beginner levels, otherwise they've been completely depowered.

Character Name: Levi Ackerman
Canon: Attack on Titan
Canon History: Wiki!
Canon Personality:
  • Loyal: Supposedly, the Ackerman bloodline predisposes one to forming a strong bond with one (and only one) other person, sometimes referred to as a 'liege'. Though largely unbeknownst to the three Ackerman characters with significant screen time, the pattern shows an intensely protective instinct and an unrivaled sense of loyalty towards this one person. At the end of the No Regrets prequel series (which chronicles his journey from underground thug to indispensable soldier), Levi decides to follow the now-commander of the Survey Corps, Erwin Smith. It's an abrupt shift after spending the whole rest of the prequel wanting to kill him, but by the time the main series begins six years later, Levi has clearly become Erwin's right hand man—his closest friend and his most-trusted advisor. Put simply, Levi would (and does) do anything Erwin asks of him. Though Erwin obviously outranks him, it's not out of a sense of obligation; as humanity's so-called strongest soldier, he could easily have chosen not to do any of these things or to follow Erwin's every order, but because he's decided to trust Erwin implicitly, he always does as he's asked. It's a mutual trust, and Erwin views Levi as more of an equal than a subordinate, but Levi still always functions under the assumption that Erwin knows best. He values Erwin's life more than anyone else's, including his own. It would not be an overstatement to say that Erwin is the center of his world.
  • Neurotic: "Fastidious" would be the nice way of saying it. Levi is the definition of a clean freak—it's something he's notorious for, and any soldier who's worked under him for more than an hour knows they're going to be doing a lot of cleaning, even if that's not really a part of the mission at hand. He has basically zero tolerance for a dirty environment and an aversion to blood—even titan blood, which evaporates on its own after a short time. This may be a result of growing up in the (filthy) slums underground and losing his mother to an illness, but it's also worth noting that he is able to set this neurosis aside when the situation is dire enough to call for it.
  • Crass: Looking for someone who has a way with words? Better look elsewhere. Truly, the only dirty thing about Levi is his mouth. He has a fairly rude way of speaking and no qualms about cursing whatsoever. Worst of all, his idea of humor is rooted primarily in... well, the toilet. Poop jokes are his go-to, unfortunately for everyone around him. And it's no coincidence that Kenny, the sociopath (and uncle, it turns out) who took Levi in after his mother died, spoke the very same way. Levi's potty mouth is the result of being partially raised by someone who really, really isn't good with kids.
  • Warmhearted: This one's a little bit harder to see. It's often hidden under layers and layers of blunt language, an unapproachable demeanor, and a tendency to solve ("solve") most of his problems with violence. It's true that Levi comes off as cold and standoffish, but believe it or not, there's a heart of gold down in there somewhere. According to Erwin, no one cares as much about their comrades' lives as Levi does. Every loss hits him hard, even if he rarely lets it show. He may not be the best leader (a series guidebook gave him a teamwork score of 2/10), but his squad never has to second-guess whether their captain has their best interests at heart, and more than once he's been shown giving them an order to simply stay alive. Even if it's less about sweeping displays of good will and more about small gestures of warmth, anyone who thinks he's just an asshole is deeply mistaken.
  • Strong: Levi's strength goes far beyond being humanity's strongest soldier. While that kind of strength is obvious to anyone who's ever seen him in action, there's a more hidden kind as well—an inner strength that has kept him going through tragedy after tragedy, from one heartbreak to the next. It would take far more than the word limit allows to list them all, but he's spent his entire life watching every person he's ever cared about die, and yet he somehow finds the strength to keep going every time without losing sight of who he really is and what he believes in. This strength has kept him alive just as much as the physical kind.

AU History:
  • in contrast to his canon status as humanity's strongest soldier, in Kaisou he's Just Some Dude - he works security at the university and then goes home and plays video games
  • he went to high school here but was pretty withdrawn and standoffish, though he did do well playing soccer because he's small and quick. unfortunately he suffered a nasty injury during a game and was thus banished to a sedentary lifestyle (this is where the video games come in)
  • he lives alone with a very ornery cat, but can be found frequently running errands for his grandmother, who's his last living relative because his life still kinda sucks here

AU Personality Differences: The major difference between this Levi and his predecessor is that this Levi's life isn't drenched in death and despair. The result of that is that his world view (and thus his general attitude) is not quite as bleak, and you may even see him crack a small smile every once in awhile. While still quite responsible, he's not as strict with rules and structure as the original, because he hasn't seen the horrible things that can (and have) happened when they aren't abided by. In general, his personality isn't as severe, but he's still far from being someone others would call "friendly" or "sociable."

Player Name: Trent

Other Characters: N/A

Character Name: Erwin Smith
Canon: Attack on Titan
Canon History: a wiki link

Canon Personality: → stoic/calm
- He doesn't really "break down" in any sense until right before he dies. He gets his arm eaten and he essentially tells his troops to go on without him because he's replaceable. He gets tortured while he's a prisoner to the point that he's almost executed but he still stays stoic, he keeps his head in the game even when he's in crippling pain.
- When he does crack it's only in front of his closest friend and confidant Levi Ackerman, and he isn't loud or tantruming, more like letting the mask crack just a little so that Levi can see the vulnerable bits beneath.

→ intelligent
- He's behind all main plans even when he's not yet commander. He games the system to prevent the survey corps from losing expedition funding. He keeps on with machinations like this throughout his career.
- He correctly predicts many things that happen, for example he correctly figures out that one of the titans is actually human (which allowed her to escape) and would fight them again, which is further evidenced by his ordering equipment refueling and so on when they normally wouldn't have needed it yet.
- He orchestrates an uprising, an entire uprising including crowning Historia as queen... from jail. He's in jail for most of that arc and he still plans everything thoroughly.
- His actions allowed others to learn more about the outside world and technology even though he didn't live to see the results.
- He created a formation for the squads to use to travel outside the walls that allowed communication between the troops and for things to essentially turn on a dime whenever something got in their way. It was extremely successful and kept more people from dying.

→ shrewd/calculating/ruthless
- A lot of people have died on his order, but it wasn't a matter of cruelty as they were all soldiers who knew what they were getting into—it's just that he doesn't shy away from sending them to their deaths to further the goals. They knew they would probably die, and still went for it.
- In essentially every arc he's a significant part of, he's at a major disadvantage for many reasons, not the least of which being that he's on the human side of the fight, but even when the cards aren't in his favor he manages to (in part due to his calculating everything to a T) he comes out on top.

→ intensity
- He turns this on and off as necessary. He's very soft with Eren in the beginning because he's trying to cajole him to work with them after Levi beat him publicly. He does proper damage control. That said, not long after that when he realizes there's a mole in the corps he becomes deeply intense, showcasing it in a query he makes to Eren about who could be untrustworthy.
- His other intensity varies: from the No Regrets manga when he screams at Levi to convince him to join the cause, to how he shouts before expeditions to build up the morale of his troops even though he's reminding them of how many of them are going to die. He screams at other points and it always works out for him, one such occasion being when he's leading a suicide charge, pulling the others into it without much issue because his intensity is catching.

→ doubt/guilt
- While he keeps it mostly under wraps, the most blatant show of this being when he imagines himself standing atop a huge pile of dead bodies, those being the soldiers he's sent to their deaths; people who died on his order. In a way he sees himself as a monster because of this.
- There's a point where Levi tries to convince Erwin to not go to the basement in the first place, but he says his dream has priority over humanity's victory, but near his death he seems to feel guilt for this too.

AU History: Erwin grew up in a relatively normal family: his father was a teacher and his mother was a homemaker, so he had a lot of support growing up. His father was passionate in his beliefs, some of which were a little contentious: he had become obsessed with the idea of life on other planets, and it bled into his classes enough that parents kicked up a ruckus and he ended up losing his job when Erwin was still in high school. Though his father was discredited at the time, Erwin still picked up on his father's beliefs and clung to them, inheriting the passion for the unknown. Once he graduated high school he moved on to university, a charming student, if intense and sometimes unnerving in his fervor. Erwin dove into his studies and graduated with honors after working several semesters as a TA for one of the professors of myths and legends. He went on to postgraduate school and by the time he was finished his mentor was retiring, so Erwin took his spot as the quite young myths and legends professor. That's what he does to this day, and though at times during lectures he can get a little impassioned about extraterrestrial life his students normally take it into stride.

He really loves whatever passes for the X-Files here.

AU Personality Differences: He's not quite as intense as his canon self, but he's still pretty high up there. Since things aren't as dire when you're a professor in a university as opposed to a commander overseeing soldiers in a bleak and cruel world, he's a little more laid-back. He still expects obedience from his students, of course, but consequences are obviously milder.

Other Characters: Tifa Lockhart (app to follow soon)

Character Name: Guizhong
Canon: Guizhong Chen
Canon History: Wiki Link

Canon Personality: A gentle and mature lady. In Genshin Impact's lore, she's described to be brilliant and wise but also playful and mischievous, adored by all her people. As the "brains" to Zhongli's "brawn", she was knowledgeable about many things ranging from machinery to agriculture to the arts. She used that knowledge for the good of her people, and took joy from bringing others joy— but she was also the kind of person to be prepared for the worst as well, as evidenced by her decision to create weapons to protect her people. An optimistic realist who was, perhaps, closer to a human than the goddess she really was.

AU History:
— Guizhong was born and grew up in a small town overseas, but her insatiable desire for knowledge very quickly made it possible for her to leave and study at the top schools in the nation.
— She accelerated through her classes and went to university at 15. There, she studied civil and mechanical engineering, and even some bioengineering on the side.
— By her mid-twenties, she had several master's degrees and was putting her knowledge to good use, helping her hometown and other impoverished, rural areas to flourish, while spearheading new, innovative projects in the nation's capital.
— However, not everyone was appreciative of her efforts. One particular town was extremely resistant to change and modernization. Discussions got violent, and Guizhong and her team were forced to leave. The night before they flew back home, they were attacked. Guizhong was stabbed and severely wounded, made worse by a poison coated on the blade. It was only thanks to her team members that she was able to get away.
— Rushed to the hospital and on the brink of death, Guizhong begged the gods for more time. She slipped into a coma just as she thought someone answered her...
— After that, she made a miraculous recovery, but she was still in desperate need of a quiet place to deal with her PTSD. She moved to Kaisou where her extended family lived, and found work as an antique repairer.

AU Personality Differences: None!

Element: Geo Earth
Purchased Powers: Slow aging (3 pts)
Possession: Guizhong is possessed by the Chinese goddess of the moon, Chang'e.

(Not sure if these contract prices are okay or not, let me know if I should change them!)

The first price is that she is unable to physically be around a person she recognizes as a lover. If they try to get close, they'll find their way blocked by mysterious (sometimes comical) means, such as a sudden crowd, a wild animal attack, a strong gust of wind blowing them away from each other, etc. They can still see and talk to each other if they're in the same vicinity, but there'll always be about 100 feet between them.

Her second price is that seeing the moon in any of its phases (save a new moon) puts her in a worshipful stupor of sorts. She will always feel a pull to it, and she has to be watched or restrained, else she'll constantly chase the moon in an attempt to "fly" there, whether it's by walking for hours straight towards it or flinging herself off a cliff.

Character Name: Tifa Lockhart
Canon: FF7R
Canon History: Wiki Link

Canon Personality:
🎔 Compassionate & Empathetic: Tifa is a woman who cares very deeply about the people around her. Ever since she lost her hometown, her community is incredibly important to her, so she does her best to be supportive of her friends, neighbors, and people she meets in any way she can be, showing kindness when she can, even if it might not be warranted. She's a person who tries to understand things from another's point of view, to the point where even when she's fighting against the enemy, she wouldn't wish for lives to be unnecessarily lost.

🎔 Shy But Personable: As a bartender, Tifa is the type of person that is easy to talk to, and small talk usually never feels like such because she genuinely cares to know about all the little things in another person's life. She's friendly and seems open at first glance— and so long as the subject isn't about herself, she is happy to converse about any old thing under the sun. But in reality, outside of that persona, Tifa's quite reserved, reluctant put herself in the spotlight and easily flustered when she's caught off guard.

🎔 Emotionally Closed Off: Because of the many tragedies that have happened to her, Tifa finds it difficult to be open about her own feelings. She has a tendency to avoid confronting her emotional issues until it's absolutely necessary, believing it better to go with the flow or wait for a situation to possibly improve. She's often content to let louder voices drown hers out if their decision seems reasonable to a certain point, and even when she's with her closest friends, it's difficult for her to be frank and straightfoward about her opinions. Especially when she's with them, really.

🎔 Self-Doubting: It wouldn't seem like she has self-confidence issues when she could pile drive a monster into the ground or handle drunk customers at the bar, but in reality Tifa can often feel torn and almost wishy-washy about about her feelings and actions. As a consummate Miss Independent, she's completely aware and proud of her capabilities, but at the same time she's often critical of them too, always imagining that she could do better and, perhaps tellingly, wanting to do better for other people instead of herself.

AU History:
🎔 The Lockharts are a long line of music lovers, and all of them work with it in some shape or form. For Tifa, that love manifested in piano, just like her mother. The two of them could spend hours playing together.
🎔 Tifa was a veritable prodigy, and her mother's death when she was eight years old only fueled her passion for it. Her father, seeing her potential, took on a managerial role for her, and with his help she was able to count herself among many other famous music players by the time she was in high school.
🎔 Nowadays, she's keeping incredibly busy with a variety of projects, ranging from competitions, charity events, and work with all manner of industries who'd like her music skills. Tifa is also a part-time university student, and in truth she'd like to take a hiatus from her career to properly enjoy it, but her schedule doesn't really allow for it.
🎔 Or rather, her father doesn't really allow for it. He can be a controlling father, but Tifa finds it difficult to argue against him when he did and sacrificed so much of his life to help her growth as a pianist.

AU Personality Differences: Tifa's much more shy and private than in canon. Though she yearns to be and feel 'normal', fame has isolated her from people her age, and she finds it hard to find anyone to relate to. Also, because of her deep feelings of gratitude for her father, she has a strong sense of obligation to him, and finds it hard to speak her mind or put her foot down when making certain decisions that oppose his.

Character Name: Bruno Madrigal
Canon: Encanto
Canon Point: End of the movie
History: We don't talk about Bruno

Personality:

It's a heavy lift with a gift so humbling
Always left Abuela and the family fumbling
Grappling with prophecies they couldn't understand

Like all members of the Madrigal family, Bruno's life has been shaped by the traumas of the family matriarch, Alma. The loss of her husband, Bruno's father, made her hold a vice-like grip on her children (and their children after them) lest they were "lost" too. This manifested in a drive for perfection, to be "worthy" of the magic they had been given, to earn it by helping the family and the town the encanto protected. Making Alma proud, being a perfect pillar of the community, using their gifts for good mattered far more than personal desires. Needless to say, growing up in a household where putting one foot wrong was not only unacceptable but seen as a threat to the very lives of hundreds of people was not a healthy environment to grow up in.

Enter Bruno. The last born of Alma's triplets, his gift of prophecy was one that has caused him very little comfort. His social skills were always lacking compared to his more outgoing sisters. Bruno liked to keep to himself, and lacked the social graces to really help him connect with others outside his family- he very clearly shows that he struggles to pick up on social cues from his conversations with others. This led to him coming across as a little blunt - more prone to just blurting out what was on his mind rather than ease his way into a delicate matter. Already being on the socially awkward side is not ideal for a figurehead of the community, even less so when that figurehead is expected to tell people what their future holds.

His blunt way of delivering futures (even bad futures) meant that people started to see his gift as malicious. A classic case of shooting the messenger, they began to blame him for the bad futures he saw- believing (wrongly) that he controlled them, that he willed them into being. And so people began to avoid him, or worse- actively treat him like some sort of villain in their midst. Already not the best with people, Bruno drew further into himself. He felt like his gift was a burden to those around him- the message of having to help the community to be worthy weighing more and more with each passing year. As his sister, Julieta pointed out: he "lost his way in this family". In trying and failing to reach Alma's impossibly high expectations, in not being the person she expected him to be, he felt like he didn't belong.

The way he deals with his prophecies really does show how heavy that weight has gotten over the years. What likely started as a simple means to access the future slowly turned into a more and more complicated ritual. Bruno shows some pretty strong obsessive-compulsive tendencies around superstition (wild for someone who can literally see what's coming ahead) knocking on wood, not stepping on cracks, crossing his fingers and holding his breath and the like. These compulsions rode into his visions too. It was a means to ease the anxiety that having them caused, knowing how people tended to react to them and blame them for him. Like most obsessive-compulsive behaviours, it was a means to find control where he had none- no matter what people believed otherwise.

And yet Bruno loves his family, as much pain as being part of them caused, he loves them deeply and fiercely. When Mirabel's door never appeared, and he saw a future that looked like it would be her that destroyed the magic of the family, he realised if he revealed this to Alma, Mirabel would face the same persecution that he, himself had lived through for decades. Wanting to protect his youngest niece, he decided to vanish away, to take the secret of the prophecy with him. His magical room (fittingly already separate from the rest of the house in a tower) fell to ruin, becoming more and more inhospitable as his family assumed he has left the home completely- refusing to speak even his name for the disgrace of abandoning them.

Of course, Bruno never left. He loved his family too much- the thought of completely abandoning them was unbearable. So he lived in the walls- where he could still watch them through the last decade, even if he could never speak to them. Heartbreakingly, even drawing his own plate on his table, so he could at least pretend he was still a part of family meals, even if a wall divided them. His social quirks only grew with time, relying on them as a crutch to deal with the crushing loneliness he felt with only his rats for company.

He made up little rat telenovelas or pretended he was different people (his real gift was "acting!" don't you know!) always patching up the cracks that appeared in their home as his family fractured further and further. He definitely had a habit of deflecting his pain with wry humour - like saying living in the walls was better than the tower because instead of having a lot of stairs he was not kitchen-adjacent and the like.

Despite his people skills taking a severe nosedive (and REALLY not wanting to have any more visions, which he saw as the root cause of all the pain in his life) he was still willing to help Mirabel. To face another vision, to try and nudge her in the correct direction to save the encanto. When the house itself collapsed and the magic died, Bruno threw all his fears and cautions to the wind, immediately racing after her and Alma to defend Mirabel. He was desperate she was not blamed for it - finally facing up to his mother after ten years of hiding from her. The wind was...pretty much taken out of his sails thanks to Mirabel resolving the issue like the Big Damn Hero she is, but the fact he was ready to argue with the woman who'd had a stranglehold of his existence since he was born said a lot.

He's now settling back into family life, awkwardly and clumsily and he lands in Kaisou just after the final big family picture. Finally understanding that he's allowed to be imperfect and that his general personality or gift isn't soothing to be ashamed of. He'll definitely need more time to put that into practice- he's taken the first steps towards it- but he's on the right track for it.

Time of Arrival to Kaisou: Pretty much an immediate arrival!
Items: The clothes he's wearing at his canonpoint: sandals, trousers, shirt and his dog-eared ruana.
Retained Ability: Precognition - His canon is a confusing mess with powers so I'm gonna go into a bit here.
Thanks to the miracle placed upon his family Bruno was given a magical gift at the age of five. This is connected to the magical candle which exists in his home and his door which is the epicentre of his abilities. It's SUPER unclear if a Madrigal needs to remain in the protective encanto to be able to connect to their powers. The only thing we know for certain is if the candle goes out, the Castia collapses and the Madrigals are rendered powerless. So who the heck knows really!

Bruno has the power of prophecy- he can look into the future. These can come as involuntary visions, or he can properly focus them where he actively aims to look at a certain aspect of someone's future. To do the latter, he needs a wide, open space and access to sand. He has a little ritual he goes through in order to start a prophecy up (namely throwing salt over his shoulder and setting fire to some tinder in an X symbol) this has become a ritual he's invented himself for peace of mind and focus over the years. Another little compulsion to add to the list.

Regardless, when he activates his gift, the wind around him whips into a cyclone, creating a dome around him to view his vision. In a focused vision, the sand forms a jade glass plate, which shows a picture of the prophecy. This can be broken easily. But hey, people can have a super fun souvenir of the vision! He can bring other people into a vision with him, and they will witness the same thing as he does. He can focus on certain points in the vision, though sometimes they can be out of order. Others can nudge his focus onto certain parts of the vision if they notice something he didn't when they're along for the ride.

In Kaisou, to start with this will all be at a VERY low level- sometimes not even working at all, and when it does work, he will not be able to focus on anything for long enough to give a very helpful prediction beyond some vague nonsense like "something bad might happen if you wear that hat".

Canon: attack on titan
Canon History: here

Canon Personality:
— clever
— rational
— strategic
— charismatic
— ironic, sarcastic
— curious
— monke (yes, that is a personality trait)

AU History:
Zeke (as his friends call him!) grew up in this city in an average American home and family. He has a mother, father and younger brother (tbd in case someone wants to take that position), is closer to his mother due to his father working around the clock as a physician, though they all tend to be on comfortable terms. He now works as a single man, no kids, a Primatologist with a focus on Gibbons, a Bachelor’s degree directed to Zoology, a Masters in Anthropology and finished PhD for full on monke. He works as an new professor for biology and animal science + zoo research, getting lost in orangutan YouTube channels at 2am, and when time allows it: a volunteer assistant baseball coach for children. He craves social interactions, he started smoking to put off the study steam, but his crammed hours working towards his dream in field research is what takes up most of his time rather than getting himself an SO.

The supernatural catch is that he’s been a bit of a Doctor Doolittle since he was a kid, starting with amazing empathy toward what other creatures are feeling and sensing. He never told anyone.

AU Personality Differences:
— He doesn’t take mistakes well. He tries to, but it’s pretty clear that when something derails from his predictions, he smokes more often to keep his stress on the borderline and usually wears quite the sour face.
— Charismatically, a bit of an oddball but always genuinely meaning well. He’s more open with his emotions and thoughts compared to his canon counterpart, as he’s grown up with the freedom to express himself and having little to hide.
— Science. He loves having something to focus on. He loves collecting data for papers, he loves studying his childhood favorite animal and he loves passing down that new knowledge. The prospect of discovery is grand for Zeke— curious as his apes are.
—Zeke wants to find professional fulfillment and believes that will bring him happiness— in the end, that’s all he really wants. To succeed, live well, and be happy with his passion…. Unlike euthanizing an entire race of people due to engrained self hatred 🙊

Character Name: Mirabel Madrigal
Canon: Encanto
Canon Point: Post-movie
History: Here
Personality:

Mirabel is part of the magical Madrigal family, and she's the only one (outside the two men who married into the family) who doesn't have a magical Gift like the rest of her family members. She takes this in stride though and still considers herself part of an amazing family, which she loves dearly. It doesn't matter that she doesn't have magical powers, because she's just as special and the fact that she's part of the family at all is a Gift in itself!

... Or maybe it's not. Mirabel has unyielding optimism and does love her family, but she feels like an outsider without her own Gift. She doesn't really feel like she's part of the family, and that's apparent in the song "the Family Madrigal" where she sings about everyone else in her family BUT excludes herself. Even when the kids ask about her power, she doesn't want to admit she doesn't have one. She just sings about her family all over again while trying to avoid the topic of herself.

To make up for having no Gift, Mirabel tries to work extra hard to make herself part of the family. When the family prepares a party for her cousin Antonio to get his Gift, she's seen trying to make decorations to put around the house as a surprise and trying to help out in her own way. Because this is how she tries to find value within the family, and her attempts are kind of brushed over as she's told by her Abuela to basically stand aside and let everyone else do their part.

Deep down, Mirabel feels kind of jealous of the rest of the family. And though she tries to stay positive and happy all the time, the moment she's left out of a family picture makes it apparent that she's an outsider. During "Waiting on a Miracle" she laments over not getting a Gift and that she wants one too so she can finally be "seen" by the rest of her family.

This feeling of being left out is fueled by the family's matriarch, Mirabel's Abeula. The night when Mirabel didn't get her Gift, she told Mirabel to "make her family proud" and that line stuck with her. When she didn't get her Gift, Abeula turned cold towards her. She always acts like Mirabel is in the way, despite Mirabel's best efforts to prove herself.

When the family's magic candle, the object that gave everyone their powers, threatens to go out, Mirabel takes it upon herself to save the Miracle and everyone's gifts. This is where Mirabel's adventurous nature comes in - she doesn't know how to save the Miracle, but she's willing to do anything to keep her family happy. And there's a slightly selfish reason to it too, that she wants to do something that will finally make her family notice and accept her.

Mirabel is brave, and a little reckless too. When she goes into Bruno's Tower to find out why the Miracle is fading, she has to climb tons of steps. She still tries to stay upbeat and positive about it before breaking down in a tired mess. And then she has to cross a huge gap that would be fatal if she were to fall. She uses a rope to swing across instead of giving up. When the room Bruno has his visions in starts to collapse with sand, she risks her life collecting the fragments of his vision instead of immediately escaping. She does this again when chasing Bruno through the walls in the house, after she finds out he's been hiding in there. There's a huge gap in the floor, and she basically risks falling to jump across.

Out of all the family members, Bruno is probably the one who she relates to the most. He's an outsider, like her, and his Gift caused more harm than good which caused him to eventually "leave" the family when Mirabel was young. But despite "leaving" he ended up living in the walls because he still loved his family, something that Mirabel can relate to. She has no Gift, she can't help, but she still loves her family and wants to do what she can.

Perhaps one of the most strained relationships in the movie is between Mirabel and her older sister, Isabela. Isabela is pretty hard on Mirabel, telling her that she's getting in the way and when Mariano comes over to dinner she tells her that she doesn't "want a word out of her". Her sister is pretty hostile towards her, but Mirabel doesn't really make things easy either. Mirabel isn't so much as jealous, as she is thoroughly annoyed with her sister's seemingly perfect life. Mirabel sees Isabel as selfish and spoiled, and when it turns out that in order to save the magic they have to "hug it out", Mirabel is upset by the idea. When Mirabel goes into Isabela's room to "hug it out", they fight, and it isn't until Isabela's magic grows something "imperfect" that Isabela realizes she doesn't want to be the perfect child either, and Mirabel finally manages to connect with her when she understands that Isabela's life is a facade. It isn't until Mirabel lets herself see more than the perfect Isabela that she can finally have a better relationship with her sister.

Similarly, Mirabel and Abeula end up having an understanding of their own. Mirabel finally confronts her, telling her off for basically putting too much pressure on the family and that Mirabel feels like she'll never be enough for her. The house collapses after their fight, and Mirabel runs off thinking that she basically destroyed everything. Abeula shows up and apologizes, telling Mirabel the story of why she is the way she is, and Mirabel ultimately forgives her for the way she was treated. When she and Abeula with Bruno in tow return to the family, and the family rebuilds their home, Mirabel finally discovers her worth. She doesn't need a Gift, because her real Gift was bringing the family together again. The house is rebuilt, the family's magic is restored, and Mirabel is finally accepted as part of the family.

Time of Arrival to Kaisou: She'll be a recent arrival.
Items: Just her clothes! She'll be wearing her white blouse and teal skirt with embroidery on it that she's done herself. And her glasses and bag!
Retained Ability: She has no magical/special abilities.

Other Characters: n/a

Character Name: Dolores Madrigal
Canon: Encanto
Canon Point: End of the movie
History: Cousin Dolores can hear a pin drop.

Personality:
My cousin Dolores can hear this whole chorus a mile away!

Dolores is the eldest child of Pepa and Félix, but despite being the oldest of their three children she is heavily overshadowed by her beautiful and beloved cousin Isabela. Despite this, Dolores shows no outward animosity towards her cousin or indeed to any of her family, who she is very close to. She clearly dotes on her brothers and is helpful to her cousins, even giving Mirabel the clue that Luisa's eye had been twitching and putting her on the path to finding out what was wrong with the encanto's miracle.

She is a quiet person who keeps to herself and has a tendency to fade into the background during family occasions (though not quite as much as Mirabel). The nature of her gift means that she hears everyone's gossip and secrets even if she doesn't want to, and she can sometimes have trouble keeping those secrets to herself! It is implied that she is something of a gossip (Mirabel's comment that Dolores would 'tell everyone' about Bruno's vision), but she does not do this from a place of malice and is able to keep secrets if she believes that it would be the best thing for the family (such as Bruno's continued presence in the house). It's possible that she keeps herself held slightly apart from the other people living in the valley to avoid potentially awkward situations, as her gift is no secret and everyone would know that she can hear everything they say.

As well as this, she also tends to not express her own thoughts and feelings and puts those of other people above her own in many cases. She will also always put the good of the family - or the perceived good of the family - above her own wants and needs. Though she is in love with Mariano, she says nothing as she believes she is fated to never be with him due to Bruno's vision, and pursuing him would cause difficulty in the family as Alma wants him to marry Isabela.

Dolores' gift means that she is very sensitive to noise, and although she will put herself into situations that are hard for her to cope with (usually for the sake of the family) she will often put her hands over her ears when things around her start to get loud.

Without her powers, Dolores remains a kind and diligent person who is always willing to lend a hand and to get her hands dirty if need be. She searches for her missing cousin with the rest of the family after helping Alma sit down following the collapse of the house, and happily helps with the rebuilding work. The loss of her gift as well as the rest of the events surrounding the house's destruction also seemed to give her more confidence, allowing her to finally confess her feelings to Mariano.

Time of Arrival to Kaisou: Recent arrival!

Items: Just the clothes on her back at her canon point - white and yellow shirt with golden-colored trimming on it, a long red skirt with yellow streaks, a red choker with a golden gem adorned with a ruby on the middle of it, and heart-shaped golden earrings, and red sandals. She also wears a red ribbon which holds her hair up in a bun.

Retained Ability: Enhanced hearing: Dolores can literally hear a pin drop, and can hear a conversation happening a mile (or more) away if she is concentrating on it. To start with her hearing will only be very slightly better than your average person, which is honestly a good thing because Dolores can be a terrible gossip.

Other Characters: Mirabel Madrigal

Character Name: Horse
Canon: Centaurworld
Canon Point: Episode 4
History: A wiki! and episode summaries if the wiki isn't enough!
Personality:

Horse is a war horse, and a life of war and fighting is all she knows. So it really shakes up her world when she's whisked away the colorful, happy-go-lucky world of Centaurworld. It freaks her out at first, because all she's known is fighting, death, and loss, and she's eager to return back to the war where things feel "normal" to her. Because of her lifestyle, she's very serious. She's not at all amused with her new Centaur friends' singing and attempts at friendship. In fact, she bails on them as soon as she gets the chance while they're distracted with singing.

Horse is very stubborn. She feels like her way of seeing things is the "right way", and refuses to see anything from a different perspective. During the song "Fragile Things", Wammawink sings about how she'll protect her Herd from danger, and Horse interrupts basically telling them that she'll teach them how to be strong and brave. She thinks that being "fearless" is the only way to approach situations, and that she needs to approach danger head-on. In fact, she's delighted when facing danger, because it reminds her of home.

Because of her human, simply known as Rider, Horse has tunnel vision only for her. Her ONLY mission is to reunited with Rider, who she loves more than anything else. For as long as Horse can remember, it's been just her and Rider, and the whole reason Horse goes on a journey with the other Centaurs is to collect key pieces so she can return to her. In fact, when Horse starts to forget Rider's face due to being in Centaurworld for too long, it distresses her to the point where she doesn't even take the final key piece from the last Shaman because she doesn't think she deserves it.

Horse is reckless and brave, but sometimes a little too brave. When a giant Taurnado (a centaur version of a tornado) touches down and puts everyone in danger, Horse charges right at it, nearly losing everyone she's with in the process. She can also be pretty careless, as she ends up kicking the magic protective "ball" the rest of the Herd was sealed in directly into the Taurnado. She also pressures the Herd to spend the night in a cave, despite warnings of a Beartaur that lived there and could eat them.

Despite everything though, Horse does have a good heart under it all. It takes her a while to warm up to the other Centaurs, especially Wammawink, who she initially fought with because she disagrees with Wammawink's coddling of the other Centaurs. When the Tree Shamans show Horse Wammawink's history, Horse finally breaks down and sympathizes with her, singing a lullaby to her to comfort her and getting angry at the Tree Shamans on Wammawink's behalf because they didn't do anything to help her. She ends up kicking the Tree Shamans out of revenge for Wammawink.

Time of Arrival to Kaisou: Immediate arrival!
Items: The artifact - which is actually a piece of a key to open up the portal between Horse's world and Centaurworld.
Retained Ability: No special abilities

Character Name: Hunter
Canon: The Owl House
Canon Point: Season 2 episode 9, "Eclipse Lake." Beginning of the episode, after Belos and Hunter talk and Hunter runs off to Eclipse Lake.
History: Hunter's entry on the Owl House wiki.

Personality:
CW: Child abuse

At first glance, Hunter comes off as a straightforward smug bad guy, but Luz puts it best when she describes Hunter to Eda after their palismen encounter: "'A beat-up blonde with no magical powers,' she called him, and these are her words: A bad but sad boy."

As the Golden Guard Hunter wears a mask, one that is both literal and figurative. His Golden Guard persona is confident to the point of arrogance, he's the epitome of Lilith's "genius teen prodigy." He's resourceful, he's intelligent, and he's extremely smug about it. He toys with his enemies, trounces them in battle, and doesn't hesitate to threaten them when the situation calls for it. The Golden Guard is a figure that inspires fear and awe to people in the Boiling Isles. Standing at the Emperor's right hand and later taking over as the head of the Emperor's Coven he commands respect from the rest of its members, and won't hesitate to use his title to (try) and throw his weight around. It's about the only way he can get any respect, after all, since he sure as hell doesn't get it as Hunter.

Hunter's actual self is very different from his Golden Guard persona. While the Golden Guard is cool and smarmy, sassing his enemies and ruthlessly threatening them, Hunter is a lot more emotional, nerdy, and even downright loving when it comes to certain emotionally abusive family members.

He's defined heavily by his relationship with Emperor Belos, and by how much deeper it goes than simply being a loyal subject. The two are family, and Hunter cares deeply for his uncle and his cursed state. Their relationship is an unhealthy one though, with Belos heavily manipulating Hunter so badly that Hunter essentially lives for the man. Belos is the sun and Hunter merely orbits him; he claims Belos found him and raised him up, a magicless witch in a world that demands magic and power. Belos gave him a life, a future, and a purpose (the details of which Hunter is not privy to, because that purpose is another method of manipulation). He's grateful for this, and he clearly loves his uncle. Despite Belos' warnings (and it supposedly being the reason for the destruction of their family), Hunter researchers wild magic and makes reckless, dangerous decisions in order to try and help with the Emperor's curse. Even when others reach out to him with friendship and empathy and maybe even the freedom he desires, as Luz and Amity do, Hunter chooses his love and loyalty for his critically ill family member. Belos' wants and needs supersede his own.

His body language reflects his emotional state. When he's trying to be professional, be the Golden Guard, he holds his head high. His shoulders are squared and he exudes confidence. When in the company of Belos he adjusts his language as he tries to anticipate Belos' moods, shrinking back when he's displeased his uncle, standing tall and formally when he thinks Belos expects him to act the part of the Golden Guard. He doesn't cringe away from affectionate touching since he desires that acceptance and validation so much, though when Belos is angry and threatens him he can and does flinch away. He's expressive with his hands when he's discussing something he finds interesting. When something is really fascinating to him he lets his walls down, forgetting himself and losing himself in whatever it is that's caught his interest. It's probably something nerdy, too, because he's kind of a nerd.

He's quick to bond with Luz over glyphs and wild magic, though he stops himself before they get too friendly, and he protects her from Kikimora's magic attacks later on. He also displays a measure of empathy with Amity (though it crosses into him projecting his own issues onto Amity and Luz's relationship), and even though he tells Lil' Rascal to buzz off it's half-hearted, and he clearly enjoys the paliman's company. That he's hiding Rascal from Belos instead of handing him over immediately to be eaten makes it clear that he does have a heart, he isn't always a villain. He has the capacity to be kind and caring, even if it goes against Belos.

Not that going against Belos is something he's willing to do often. He defines himself by Belos' opinion on how valuable he is, and he's in a shaky enough mental state that when he thinks Belos is going to replace him he has a complete and utter breakdown. We're talking cheerily digging his own grave breakdown. The kid really needs therapy, and a long nap.

Time of Arrival to Kaisou: He'll be an immediate arrival.
Items:
Palisman: A cardinal sentient magic totem, nicknamed Lil' Rascal by Luz. Normally a palisman can transform between a creature form and a staff form and allow anyone who wields it to cast wild magic, but Rascal will be almost completely depowered and will have to get his magic back via regains.

Golden Guard uniform: Includes his helmet and detachable mask.

Retained Ability: Rascal will retain his ability to turn into a wooden figurine, and a wooden staff.

Character Name: Ghaleon
Canon: Lunar series (CRAU)
Canon Point: post-Sol Raveh
History: ...There's. a lot. So please bare with me.

- Born as one of the last Vile Tribe peoples remaining in the floating island Vane, famous as home to the Magic Guild. His parents die before he can remember them, so Ghaleon's brother raised him. ...Kinda.
- Ghaleon's seventeenth winter consists of learning engineering in three weeks, finishing an airship with help from actual adults, having the remaining tribe go from six to three members in increasingly traumatic ways, and leaving Vane to travel the world. Ghaleon spends around the next hundred years being a traveling cleric of the Goddess Althena.
- Ends up traveling with a guy he met during the solo clericing years, Dyne, who becomes Ghaleon's best friend and Most Important Person. Over the course of adventuring they pick up Lemia Ausa, descendant of a childhood friend, and a quickly-made-former pirate named Mel. The party becomes living legends, even working with and befriending Althena herself.
- After a time, Althena decides to leave her post and reincarnate into human baby for Reasons, informing only Dyne and Ghaleon, causing a big falling out. Dyne ghosts absolutely everyone afterward, and Ghaleon eventually spirals into grief and spite-fueled supervillainy over the next 15 years. The supervillainy bit goes unnoticed until he, with the help of the descendants of the Vile Tribe peoples Althena had banished to the wastes, properly launch the plan to install Ghaleon as god in a bid that was part revenge against Althena, part "I've seen way to much shit to think humanity won't stick their collective finger in the metaphorical wall socket without supervision, and nobody else is gonna do it". The plan nearly succeeds, only for Ghaleon to fall to a plucky group of teens, including Lemia and Mel's own daughters.
- A thousand years pass, and Zophar, the God of Destruction revives Ghaleon with the intent of using him as a pawn in his own revival and bid to take over the world. This turned out to be a big mistake, since Ghaleon does not want the world destroyed and secretly works to ensure another plucky group of teens will shank Zophar.
- Unfortunately, canon gets derailed by an outside force destroying Ghaleon's and many other worlds, leaving the former villain as one of the survivors in Bastion (exploration/survival game based on Supergiant's game of the same name). He quickly ended up being the settlement's doctor (and was eternally stressed about it), and grew to care about the place and people enough to consider it a new home over the months, and would do anything to protect it. Voted to use the Monument to create a new world from the pieces at the end.
- Was isekai'd again a week post-endgame to a castle controlled by the servant of the local god of darkness in order to defeat her at the behest of Sol Raveh, god of light (and the guy who the game was named for; it was based largely on ICO). Salty about getting dragged into a conflict between gods again, Ghaleon spent the time largely looking after the physical and mental health of others until the Queen's defeat. Was able to gain some closure about Dyne along the way.

Personality: - simultaneously has Big Theatre Gay energy and Exhausted Babysitter energy
- really good at lying is properly motivated, but prefers (sometimes brutal) honesty
- the well has runneth dry on the number of fucks they have to give
- generally slow to bond with people, but cares forever once friendship is reached
- actually pretty stable in spite of the whole going batshit insane a thousand years ago thing
- six feet and eight inches of highly condensed salt
- understands memes
- highkey nerdy
- kind at heart, but absolutely down to be a right bastard if the situation calls for it

Time of Arrival to Kaisou: February at some point
Items: clothes, sword, first aid kit (it's a belt pouch situation)
Retained Ability: hearing somewhat better than a human's

Rhel Fashonti | FFXIV WoL | OU (ish)

Player Name: Fae
Contact: Plurk or DM
Invited by: Myself!!! or Yuff I guess if that doesn't count
Other Characters: August Villareal

Character Name: Rhel Fashonti
Canon: Final Fantasy XIV
Canon Point: Post 6.0. I will have a spoiler opt-out post just in case
History: A write-up. That just covers her pre-game history. As for the rest of it, this basically. Some Rhel specific things, however:

A Realm Reborn:

As she'd been in Ul'dah for several years prior to the start of the main story, some of the beginning adventurer side quests were done then. While escaping the Bloody Banquet and the betrayal of the Braves, Rhel took a poisoned arrow to her left thigh. She recovered, but she has a scar and limps from time to time.

Heavensward:

Rhel fell for Haurchefant and losing him devastated her in a way only the Bloody Banquet had before. The only reason she kept going was a strong desire to shove her rod up Thordan's arse.

There was also much loud and protracted yelling at Estinien when he refused to wash his armor of dragonblood. And again when he woke up.

Stormblood

The stress of everything starts to get her at this point, and after the events of Doma Castle, Ala Mhigo, and then fighting Shinryu, Rhel was sent first to Ishgard then to Limsa to recover from some fairly major aetheric injuries that came about from pushing herself too far. Because of this, she was not actually present for most of the story events that take place in "Patch 4.1 The Legend Returns". She is called back for the rematch against Sri Lakshmi and all events following that, though she had not fully recovered.

Shadowbringers

Pretty much exactly as shown in MSQ, though being a black mage Rhel knew that something was wrong with her taking in all this Light-aspected aether. Otherwise: there was a lot more crying and calling certain Exarchs out than we see in-game.

Endwalker

I won't go into detail here, just know that Rhel will be looking at all of this as a fucking vacation. A shite vacation, but a vacation.

Personality: Though Rhel now seems generally calm and a respectable adult, that’s only half true. She really has mellowed out from her wilder childhood days (amazing what having to manage umbral and astral magicks can do for one’s self control), but it’s not hard at all to get her involved in shenanigans. Just ask her students, who love to get Rhel on a tangent about proper thaumaturgy or mistranslated texts, or her friends who know exactly how make Rhel's "umbral facade" crack like so much plaster. Or ask her family, who only really ever see Rhel's troll side unless they happen to brave the sands and visit her in the city. (Spoilers, only two of her siblings have ever seen that side of her.)

Being a teacher really did help Rhel mature, though, and she is very often the only person keeping a cool head in the middle of whatever crisis. She might have a moment afterwards, but Rhel will do her best to be the rock other people can cling to. There have been a few times where she failed to do that, times that have only gotten more numerous as she’s traveled about as the Warrior of Light.

She still hasn’t forgiven herself for the incident with the Braves or Haurchefant.

Though Rhel herself has no desire to make a clan like her older sisters, she tends to half-adopt anyone who needs her help. Some people eventually become "clan" to her, like the Scions, Subetei, and Ivanis. (Vint, being a childhood friend, doesn’t count here and anyway she’s godmother to any of his children provided she lives long enough for that so they’re basically actually-proper-clan.) It’s hard for her to turn away people who need help out of hand, though she’s thankfully learned to be a little skeptical thanks to her years in Ul’dah. Still, if she feels you’re being truthful she’ll do everything she can to get you whatever help you need.

Rhel is incredibly sociable, constantly needing people around for at least background noise if not conversation. The idea of being alone terrifies her and is in part why she has such an expansive collection of mammets. It may be childish or odd, but she genuinely feels better if she has one of her little toys with her and has for most of her life. It’s hard to explain where this fear comes from, but it’s there. It hardly bothers Rhel, though sometimes it may bother other people if she’s in a Mood and chatting up a storm. Still, everyone knows to worry if she isn’t interested in socializing.

And if she isn’t interested in reading? Panic. The only thing Rhel loves more than people and adventure is reading. Every room she’s ever claimed as her is filled with books and scrolls and maps and tablets in all languages; it took the Scions a week and a half to gather up all her books and move them into a room in the Stones once she finally agreed to claim one. She’s trying to get Cid to make her some automata that can organize her vast library. So far it hasn’t panned out--they all break under the stress.

Time of Arrival to Kaisou: New arrival!
Items: -Neo Isghardian Rod (but with a red gem)
-This outfit minus the hat (all dyed the color seen in her icons)

Character Name: Camilo Madrigal
Canon: Encanto (OU)
Canon Point: end of movie
History: Disney Wiki Character Page

Personality:
"Mi primo Camilo won’t stop until he makes you smile today!"

Camilo is a bright, good-humored, vivacious 15-year-old Colombian boy, still trying to determine who he is and who he wants to be. Having never left his small, isolated, self-dependent village, full of people who’ve known him his whole life and known his family for the past 50 years, when his grandmother helped found the village, there are a lot of expectations on him to make himself useful to the community and honor his family’s values. …He can also magically shapeshift into everyone else around him at will and on demand, ever since he was five years old, so, uh, that also makes finding one’s footing with a budding sense of self a little more difficult. He’s still just a teenager like any other teenager, trying to define his identity slowly but surely, figuring out what he can offer the world as himself, but when all your life people have expected you to turn into other people, when that ability has become a primary hobby and knee-jerk source of entertainment, even a habit, feels like a part of who you are…? It’s a bit more complicated. But lately he is steadily learning that he is more than just his Gift, regardless of what other people expect of him, just like the rest of his uniquely magical family.

He has a vibrant and animated disposition, taking after his warm and affable, un-magical father. Camilo has a strong sense of humor, a flair for the dramatic (being dubbed “the theatre kid” of the family), and a mischievous streak, finding enjoyment in using his shapeshifting Gift to tease his prim and proper cousin Isabela, his quiet sister Dolores, and his good-natured father. Camilo’s very much a jokester, with a quick wit, a wry, sometimes sarcastic sense of humor, and a great sense of comedic timing. It’s sometimes at the expense of others, but he knows where the boundaries are drawn, and has a certain “no-no” list of people he won't tease in his family. He’ll exaggerate stories for funsies, laying on the drama thick for entertainment value, even if he makes something seem a little scarier than it actually is. But it’s all in good fun.

While he’s a bit of a prankster, it’s never mean-spirited. Camilo has a gentle and soft disposition at heart, able to comfort and soothe others just as well as he can make them laugh. His mother, unlike his father, is a lot less even-keel. She has a magical ability to control the weather around her, but feels her emotions on fairly high intensity compared to others in their family (and, let’s be frank, has a bit of a flair for the dramatics, too; Camilo gets it from somewhere!), which often results in thunderstorms and snowstorms when she’s upset, even hurricanes…! So growing up with her intense moods as an almost daily norm, he’s had plenty of practice calming his mother in her heightened emotional states, seen serving her tea and speaking gentle mantras to her. He’s got a great way with younger kids, as well, especially known around town for entertaining them with his shapeshifting abilities. He is enthusiastically encouraging of his comparatively meek five-year-old brother Antonio, and is always determined to make him laugh when the little boy is nervous. He’s trusted to babysit for other villagers, happy to help the community with humble tasks like comforting an infant while the mother takes a surely much-needed siesta. He likewise uses his shapeshifting abilities to help when he can, such as making himself taller to match a man hanging a banner and help him hang the other side evenly. He’s always shown to be eager to help out in any way, for both his family and his neighbors. In his village, everyone helps everyone — and everyone also relies on his family for extra help, y’know, with the magic powers and all…

Time of Arrival to Kaisou: immediate arrival
Items: Arrives wearing a striped yellow ruana with chameleon motifs on it, a plain white long-sleeve shirt, plain dark trousers, and embroidered sandals.
Retained Ability: shape-shifting; in canon: cannot obtain other people’s powers while shape-shifting, cannot shape-shift into animals, can choose to take on the person's voice to some degree but only with practice, can shape-shift to people of different sizes, ages, sexes at will and back at will with incredible speed, ease and accuracy.

Weakened state at arrival: this ability will not come with the usual ease it normally would, will require more focus, familiarity and practice to create a perfect match when taking the form of others, will have less stamina to maintain the form, his transformations might be volatile (as in, he may spontaneously shift back without willing to, shift to the wrong person or unintentionally shift depending on external triggers like pain or shock, what’s on his mind, or his emotional state, may lose control of random characteristics, face might get stuck mid-transformation more often); generally less precision, accuracy or control…

Character Name: Luisa Madrigal
Canon: Encanto (OC)
Canon Point: post-movie
History: Disney wiki

Personality: Granted with the gift of super strength, Luisa is reliable as she is powerful. Whether it’s retrieving and lifting something heavy, rounding up some escaped donkeys, or even rerouting a river, no task is too big nor too small for her. She is always willing to lend a hand for her family and community, and does what she can to help with no complaints and no hesitation. She is dedicated and hard-working, so people know that they can count on her assistance.

And unfortunately, that was part of the problem. While Luisa does genuinely enjoy helping others, she often felt overloaded by the amount of work that she is asked to do. There was a constant pressure to perform and a need to please others, both at home and in town, that Luisa felt unable to turn down any request made of her. Despite her vast strength, she struggled to carry all the burdens that were placed on her. Yet she kept her feelings of anxiety bottled up inside her, because she was the “tough one” and felt she could not show any weakness. It wasn’t until she was confronted by her sister, Mirabel, when the family’s magic was threatened, that she was finally able to reveal how she truly felt.

Because deep down, Luisa fears that she has no worth beyond her strength. Having used her gift to serve her family and community since the age of five, when she first received her power, she felt that her strength was the only thing that made her important. Her strength was all that was ever called upon or needed, so she grew to feel as though she had nothing else to offer. When the family’s magic was fading and she began losing her gift, she grew very distressed and fearful of not being able to meet the expectations placed on her, because she didn’t know how else to be useful.

With the help of her younger sister, though, and with the support of the rest of their family, Luisa is beginning to learn that she is more than just her gift, that her value as a person is not dependent on what she can do. She is learning that it is okay to express her emotions, and that she can still be strong while asking for help. She is still a young woman who cares deeply about her family and community, and would do anything she can to help and protect them. But now she is starting to learn to take some time for herself as well, and that it’s okay to show the sensitive side of her that lies under the surface of her tough exterior.

Time of Arrival to Kaisou: immediate arrival
Items: Just the clothes she's wearing
Retained Ability: Super strength: in canon, Luisa is easily able to lift heavy objects, and even buildings and bridges, without any strain on her part. Her body also has increased durability, and can withstand an immense amount of force without a scratch or injury (though she is not invulnerable, it is just uncertain as to what extent she can be injured). In a limited state, her strength will be weakened to that of an average bodybuilder, and will require much more effort. She will also be able to receive injuries easier.

Character Name: Julieta Madrigal
Canon: OU
Canon Point: Post-Movie
History: Wiki Link

Personality:
"My mom, Julieta, can make you feel better with just one arepa."

The eldest of the Madrigal triplets, Julieta was given the gift of healing through food. She's loving, caring, understanding, and willing to listen to whomever may need it. She sees how wonderful someone can be with or without a Gift. She has some of the most interaction with the townspeople due to her abilities to heal. She does her best to help take care of everyone not just because her gift is healing but because that is her general nature to be nurturing.

Just like the rest of her family, Julieta was tasked with the pressure of helping the town with her Gift. Unlike her brother, Bruno, and her sister, Pepa, Julieta's gift is only seen in a positive light but it also demands she has to always be available. Being able to heal meant the town as a whole required her abilities daily for everything big or small. And all of this has to be through her cooking. She not only has to cook to help heal people, she has to cook for a family of 12 morning, noon, and night, and any and all celebrations that occur in the Casita (and by extension, the town). Even at a young age, Julieta was helping her mother and the town take care of everything.

However, unlike many of the other Madrigals, Julieta is much more willing to stand up for herself and the needs of her family, especially against her mother, Alma. She chose her husband, Augustin, despite her mother not initially liking him, she told her mother to be nicer to Mirabel when Alma was being unkind, and she constantly supported Bruno, never having a bad thing to say about him, to name just a few things.

While Julieta is presented as the most calm of the three triplets, nothing makes her panic faster than the thought of her family being hurt, in danger, or being upset. She puts a lot of pressure on herself to help guide and encourage her family as much as she can. When she initially thought Bruno had disappeared, Julieta didn't want to see that happen again with other family members, in particular, Mirabel. Julieta spoils her youngest, Mirabel, the most but she is deeply affectionate with all of her loved ones, quick to hug, hold, or have some form of physical contact with any of the Madrigals. She is also just as prone to theatrics as the rest of her family just in more one-on-one ways when she over-acts with Mirabel or Augustin.

Julieta, above all else, is family first, more than willing to forgo the miracle gifted to her family for all of their safety and willing to stand up for them.

Time of Arrival to Kaisou: Immediately
Items: A mortar and pestle, her clothes
Retained Ability: Julieta can cure a LOT of things with her cooking from a black eye, a fractured wrist, swelling, allergic reactions, bad vision, open wounds, to name just a few and all of this instantaneously. She also has extensive knowledge of herbs and medicines. Her ability will be limited in that she can no longer do severe injuries like giant wounds, fractured wrists, etc. and instead of being instantaneous it will now take anywhere from 24 to 48 hours to heal.

Character Name: Joseph Joestar
Canon: Jojo's Bizarre Adventure
Canon History: https://jojo.fandom.com/wiki/Joseph_Joestar#History

Canon Personality:

◽ First and foremost, he is a charismatic, theatrical loudmouth. He tends to blurt whatever comes to his mind and often places his own thoughts and feelings before that of others at this stage in his life, which is funny for him and infuriating for everyone else.

◽ There are times where Joseph will treat any given situation that isn't life-threatening as if it is a joke to him. Might treat it like it's a joke even if lives are at stake. This is, also, something that grates on the nerves of other people and can make him very unpleasant, as there is only so much laughing a guy can do before it's only funny to him.

◽ Bluntly, he thinks he's hot shit. He is confident and self-adoring to the point of overpride at times, though he is mindful of not allowing this to create too many immediate problems for him. He is very self-assured in his skills as a martial artist and his quick-wittedness (he thinks he is pretty damn clever, at least), and will not mince words when it comes to talking about this.

◽ Lastly, he is belligerent. Goading him into a fight is easy no matter how smart he thinks he is, and every now and then not only will he fall for obvious bait, he will cast it thinking that everyone else is a gigantic hothead like him.

AU History: Joseph Joestar is a martial artist who comes from a long line of men plagued by the supernatural, especially that of vampires seeking to destroy their entire bloodline. He spends a decent amount of his time learning about the origins of vampirism and especially seeking out cases of their ilk preying on civilians. After hearing about the various oddities in Kaisou, he packs his things and sets off to take up residence there for the foreseeable future ...

AU Personality Differences: None. He is universally intolerable.

Element: General

Purchased Powers:
◾ Rather improbable luck.
◾ Medium level regeneration.

Character Name: Tsukasa (An Shouji)
Canon: .hack//SIGN
Canon History: Here you go.

Canon Personality:
  • Closed off. Tsukasa is extremely withdrawn. Some of it is definitely shyness, some of it is simply being introverted, but a lot of it is simply instinct for him. He opens up as the series progresses and he warms up to the people he meets.
  • Avoidant. He'll usually leave a situation he doesn't like if he has the option.
  • Mischief. While not the type to indulge in pranks, he does enjoy seeing people who deserve it get their fair share of bad karma. Until his Guardian went too far, he certainly seemed to enjoy beating the snot out of people who underestimated or hurt him. And sometimes he smiled while saying mean things! Troll detected.
  • Rude. Tsukasa has no issues holding back his words when he's annoyed, which is frequently; he claims he doesn't like people wasting his time, and purposely says mean things to drive people away.
  • Insecure. Naturally, the reason he makes people mad is because he... doesn't like to be vulnerable! He recognizes this when speaking to Morganna at the end of the series: "You act like this because you're very sad, very anxious..." Just like himself.
  • Determined. Tsukasa has one last little inch and he will not run away if it means leaving people to die for him.
  • Helpful. A bit of a doormat, maybe, but he does end up taking care of a baby pet for a stranger in the World. He also spends hours looking for a cure for it, and while he's not successful in saving it, the fact he tried so hard says a lot about his true nature. He might be coarse at times, but he isn't cruel.
  • Surprisingly soft. Despite losing most of his mind and literally suffering after being tortured, he offered some Aromatic Grass to the vagrant AI that had been taking care of him... a sign of such pure intent that Macha couldn't help but turn against her maker. After the series, he also pulls the player-killer Sora into the group and says, "We're all friends now, okay?" because he found him crying and sad and alone.
  • Socially awkward. If it wasn't obvious before, Tsukasa has a habit of saying the wrong thing or not being able to communicate his point because he isn't sure how. Subaru describes it as "not having enough words", and that's exactly it; Tsukasa struggles to make connections and only starts to become better with words when he opens his heart.

AU History: Tsukasa was born 18 years ago in Kaisou and soon adopted by a Japanese-American couple. His father, Ryo Sakuma, renamed him Annwn. A prolific author, he would later go on to write a novel of the same name, and the novel would be so famous as to be assigned reading curriculum for many high school students. However, Ryo's profession put a strain on the couple's marriage, and they ended up parting ways amicably when An was in elementary school. The divorce was of course made more complicated because of the lack of prenup, but An's parents remained good friends.

Still, this did affect An's studies as An split time between both parents. An struggled through middle school, occasionally being picked on, yet it was the usual adolescent soup of depression and stress that prevented the teen from reaching his full potential. During this time An's mother moved across the country and was no longer easy to visit, so An lived with Ryo full time. At the beginning of high school, An realized he was in fact more of a boy than a girl and no longer wished to go by An as it was too feminine, so he started going by "Tsukasa" after a character in an anime that he liked.

After getting his feelings on gender sorted out, Tsukasa's studies improved dramatically. Supposedly his marks are good enough to get into some expensive colleges, but he's content with staying near home and the familiar. Now a senior in high school finishing up his last year, he's been taking classes to fill the gaps in his schedule at the local college and amass the credits he needs for his eventual computer sciences degree.

He's a completely normal teenager raised on video games and social media, and he has absolutely no goddamn idea what has been lurking beneath Kaisou forever.

AU Personality Differences:

Tsukasa is more socialized in this AU because he actually had friends growing up. He also has a more supportive parental unit and grew up fairly comfortably money-wise. With less of an instinctive reason to push people away, Tsukasa's personality is still reticent and introverted, but his softness is more easily detected and he feels far more guilty when he hurts someone. It can also be somewhat attributed to Tsukasa simply liking a certain character archetype in anime and video games and unconsciously modeling himself after that, as childish as it may sound; Tsukasa displays other childish tendencies in canon (mostly with regards to how he treats strangers) so it isn't too far-fetched.

Character Name: Spinel
Canon: Steven Universe
Canon Point: Right after Spinel gets her memories back
History: Here.

Personality:
Spinel is a fun-loving gem and Pink Diamond's playmate. She loves games, she loves making people laugh, especially Pink Diamond, with her cartoony antics. When Steven reset Spinel's memories by using her Rejuvenator against her, she latched onto him as her "best friend". To her, friendship means a lot of physical affection, lots of play, and trying to get her best friend to laugh by goofing off or singing and dancing. She treats serious situations like a game too, because she doesn't know any other way to interact with the world. Her entire purpose is supposed to be fun and games. For example, when Steven is about to cry because he doesn't know how to save the world from Spinel's Injector, Spinel immediately tries to cheer him up by acting silly instead of acknowledging the stress that Steven feels.

Spinel's world revolved around Pink Diamond. She was there when Pink Diamond was given her own planet. Spinel was delighted, because it meant a new place to play with her best friend, Pink Diamond. Pink tells Spinel they're going to play a game, which involves Spinel standing very still in the garden. Pink Diamond leaves her behind to go to Earth, and Spinel never leaves her spot for the next 6,000 years. Spinel's game ends when she learns through a transmission that Pink Diamond never planned on coming back for her, that she no longer exists, and now all that's left is her son - Steven Universe. It's then that she realizes the truth, that she'd be left behind for thousands of years waiting for someone who had abandoned her. Spinel's gem turns upside down, she loses her heart-shaped pigtails, and she gets black lines down her face that resemble tears. Spinel's fun and happy personality was replaced by bitterness and jealously. Her need for revenge is what drives Spinel to go to Earth with her Injector, intending to destroy the planet and ruin Steven's life forever.

Spinel develops a short temper after her transformation. She's always on edge, looking for the meaning in between what people say. She wants to hurt Steven, because it's her only way of lashing out at Pink Diamond for abandoning her. When Steven convinces Spinel to remove the injector, he says afterwards that they can go back to forgetting this incident ever happened. Spinel however, interprets this as Steven abandoning her. After all, Steven can't forget what happened and have his happy ever after with Spinel around. And after Steven accidentally drops Spinel's Rejuvenator, she assumes the worst. She thinks Steven is going to use it on her to erase her memories so she can go back to being the fun and cute Spinel again. She doesn't give Steven a chance to reason with her. After all, it's easy to assume the worst when she's been betrayed and left behind by the person she trusted most. Now, she has trust in no one.

Spinel also develops a fear of being abandoned, which she shows several times with Steven. She panics when Steven talks about forgetting the Injector incident, assuming that Steven is going to leave her on her own. Similarly, even with her memories erased, she still refuses to leave Steven's side. She even gets angry at Steven when he tries to make her stay. It shows that Spinel has a really hard time being alone, that she knows what loneliness feels like and never wants to experience it again.

Spinel sees herself as a bad person and has a low opinion of herself. When Steven helps Spinel get her memories back, and reintroduces her to the Crystal Gems, she's hesitant because she's not sure if they'll like her in her current form. She's also hesitant about meeting the Diamonds for that exact reason. She started off as cute and innocent, and then became vengeful and bitter - so much so that it altered her form. She gets angry at Steven for telling her she can change, because he changes for the good, but Spinel will always change for the worst. She calls herself "no good" while fighting Steven. She feels like people like her better as the old Spinel, the fun and innocent one, and that no one will love her as the gem she is now, because she's "bad" now.

Still, Spinel is given a second chance when Steven introduces her to the Diamonds. The Diamonds are thrilled with Spinel, knowing that she was once Pink Diamond's friend, and invite her to live with them. Spinel agrees, and her broken heart is mended a little by having someone who wants her.

Time of Arrival to Kaisou: Recent arrival

Retained Ability: Stretchy body! It’ll be severely weakened so she can’t stretch that far.

Character Name: Tachibana Hinata (Japanese order)
Canon: Life With an Ordinary Guy Who Reincarnated Into a Total Fantasy Knockout (Fantasy Bishoujo Juniku Ojisan to)
Canon Point: After Volume 5, chapter 68 (which should be around where the anime season ends too)
History: The actual wikipedia page has episode summaries for what's out of the anime, but that's about it. So have a real history section!

Tachibana Hinata is an average 32-year-old office worker. If anything set him apart, it was the friends he kept - or specifically, his best friend, Jinguuji Tsukasa, an incredibly handsome, insanely talented, level-headed, and freakishly adept man that Tachibana grew up with.

Tachibana and Jinguuji became friends as children, when Jinguuji saved Tachibana from some bullies. Tachibana always respected Jinguuji's strength, good nature, and skill, and saw him as a hero. In return, Jinguuji was drawn to Tachibana's friendliness, openness, and ability to draw others to him.

Then one day, heading home drunk after a mixer, Tachibana wished he could be reborn as a pretty girl so that he could be as popular as Jinguuji. A goddess overheard his wish, and transported Tachibana and Jinguuji into her world, where she gave Tachibana the body he had wished for - a peerlessly beautiful girl - and declared that Tachibana was a hero meant to defeat the demon lord.

Unfortunately, her new body was laughably weak. But Jinguuji was there, ever Tachibana's hero, and strong enough to stand up to anyone and anything that would threaten her. The powers Tachibana was given, more like curses, caused a lot of problems - including causing a lot of confusion between her and Jinguuji as they began to fall for each other. Was it because of Tachibana's charm effects, or...?

They've been through a lot in their new world - learning about their powers, fighting monsters, fighting more monsters, leading a revolution, even fighting each other. But in the end, their bond always paves the way for their triumphs.

Before arriving, the last things Tachibana did were pilot a giant fantasy-mech against Jinguuji, have an extremely tear-fueled heart-to-heart, find out about the demon lord's location, and then... suffer the Charmed effect herself upon seeing a shirtless Jinguuji. And then, she gets to wake up somewhere strange and new... again!

Personality:
Tachibana wants to be friends with everyone - this is something that was true for her childhood, adulthood, and even more recently. In school, she was surrounded by friends. At work, she was always trying to befriend her juniors. And in the fantasy world she was reincarnated into, she still makes friends easily, making every attempt to be sociable with those around her.

She's genuinely friendly and kind. She'll be the one to say they need to save somebody, or help somebody in need, even if it's not practical. And it's not heroism, she just immediately jumps into doing the right thing because it's the right thing without thinking about it.

The flipside to her friendliness and good nature is that Tachibana hates confrontation. People being upset with her or disliking her upsets her, and she can't deal with it. Even people being upset at OTHER people upsets her, making her feel like she's on the receiving end herself. That's one of the reasons she tries so hard to smooth out social situations, calm everybody down, and settle things peacefully. It might be a negative, but it's led to a useful skill for her. Especially with Jinguuji - it balances out, since Jinguuji is very stubborn and refuses to compromise.

She does take it too far at times, though. She has no pride when it comes to pacifying somebody, completely willing to take blame, grovel on the ground, or just, in general, refuse to stick up for herself. This is another place where having Jinguuji with her balances things out, since Jinguuji will stick up for her when she won't stick up for herself.

Another sticking point with Tachibana is her jealousy. When she sees people that have something she doesn't, she feels jealous, wishing she could have whatever it is - skill, popularity (in romance specifically,) dashing good looks. She feels like she doesn't have anything good actually going for her, and when she sees the things she desires in others, it can lead to darker feelings.

So it could be said that Tachibana doesn't have a lot of self-esteem. This is true. She doesn't see her own good side, and fixates on the negatives when it comes to herself. It doesn't help that her best friend in the world has everything that she wishes she had - even when he views her as the best.

Under it all though, Tachibana has fairly average habits and tastes. She enjoys video games and manga, has fairly typical tastes, enjoys going out and drinking and always has some beers on hand. But she's always looking out for others and that's what counts.

It should be stated that as an on-going series featuring a genderbent protagonist, the final verdict on Tachibana's gender isn't in. She claims to be a guy, and it's possible the series will end with her returning to her original body. But given several scenes about the matter, and her general willingness to engage with (plus ease and lack of distress in) appearing and acting female, I'm rolling with a "trans woman whose egg hasn't cracked" reading, but willing to course-correct if more information comes out in the manga later.

Time of Arrival to Kaisou: Present day, present time
Items: Her travel outfit (pink jacket w/ ribbon, white dress, black leggings, fingerless gloves, boots, boxers) and her magic... tiara-thing (effect: makes people's eyes pass over her unless she draws attention to herself. I'm unclear if item effects are also depowered, so please let me know, but I'm fine either way.)
Retained Ability: Status: Tachibana can view the status of herself and others by summoning up an old-school RPG-like interface. This display exists in real space and can be viewed by others. The displayed information includes name, occupation, level and stats corresponding to strength, agility, intelligence and luck. In addition to that, it shows the subject's active and passive skills.

In addition, Tachibana operates on a sort of RPG-like logic. When afflicted by a status effect, a small display (also visible to everybody around her) will show the status. She can gain "EXP" and level up, though the rules for it are unclear. The only stat Tachibana has that will grow is Luck - Intelligence remaining firmly at 50 and both Strength and Agility are locked to 1.

...I don't know how to weaken the skill itself, so maybe being weakened just means that Tachibana's level is reset to 1.

Special Note: Tachibana's main canon "power" (curse) (that she'll likely regain fairly shortly) is called "Perfect Beauty" - it basically charms everybody who looks at her. Extremely - to the point of causing a horde of bandits to fight each other to the death over her, or have a village worship her like a goddess. I plan on putting up an opt-out/opt-in when she regains this; explaining it as not being regained at full strength, so people with more willpower can resist it. But feel free to advise me if I need to do anything else for that.

Character Name: Nina Lora (aka: Imila Tera)
Canon: original character (information post here, click section headers to expand)
Canon Point: Almost immediately after the third tower. (This is the point where the info post's history section ends.)
History: Refer to the above-linked info post for, among other things, a write-up that goes up to Nina's canon point. The tl;dr of it is that she was given up by her biological parents for her own safety, and then more than a decade later her adoptive older sister decided to be a jrpg protagonist after hearing some news and got herself, Nina, and their friends into some kind of a mess that they'll eventually have to help clean up; she's being pulled right out of the middle of this adventure, and inconveniently enough it happens to be right after some Stuff just went down so she may not be in a super-great place at first.

Personality: Refer to the info post for a write-up. Bullet points are provided below for summary purposes.
• nervous around people she doesn't know well because Reasons, is basically always at least a little worried that she could hurt them
• difficult to anger, but easily makes it clear when she is angered, and just as easily backs down if she realizes she's causing a scene
• ignorant of a lot of things due to sheltered upbringing, is interested in simply learning about things new to her as a result of this
• feels as though she has very little control over her own life, fights this feeling by keeping herself organized but sometimes lets herself slip
• being exposed to cold for too long without adequate protection can potentially mess with her head depending on how cold it is
Note: Depending on who she talks to, Nina goes by either "Nina Lora" or "Imila Tera". Both names are correct; Nina is her birth name, while Imila is the name that was given to her by the family that adopted her. She generally reserves the "Imila Tera" name for use when around her adoptive family or any friends that she feels comfortable enough with, effectively making that name a symbol of her trust, while in regard to anyone else she prefers the "Nina Lora" name.

Time of Arrival to Kaisou: Nina will be an extremely-recent arrival, either still in the labyrinth or having just managed to get out.
Items: A couple layers of clothing, with the visible layer being a dark gray shirt and pants, plus boots, gloves, and a heavy jacket, all matching the aforementioned visible layer with the jacket being slightly darker, and all of this is being worn simultaneously because of course it is. There is a flint and steel tucked away in an inside pocket on the jacket itself.

Retained Ability:
Pyrokinesis: Like other Denicinians, Nina is capable of manipulating fire, but she is canonically pretty weak in this regard due to a lack of experience, which in turn is from a lack of willingness to use this ability (itself out of having had a need to avoid drawing attention to what she is). Flames that are larger than a campfire are difficult for her to handle and become closer to impossible the larger they get; even smaller flames can be dangerous, but should she cause something to really light up, she'll quickly lose whatever control she had over it. She is incapable of creating her own flames and must rely on external methods to do so (hence the flint and steel that she keeps on her just in case she actually needs to make a fire).
Note: Canonically, in addition to the minor pyrokinesis, Nina also has a heat-stealing touch and an intolerance for cold, both detailed in the info post. The touch itself is not being retained (due to pyrokinesis being retained instead) and that by itself will likely change the way she acts around others once she realizes it, but please note that I am planning for her to retain her cold intolerance due to it being a weakness rather than any sort of ability. If the mod wants her to start without that intolerance and leave her wondering why the cold doesn't hurt, I can work with that.

Pasqualo Trianglini | Please Forgive Me!!! | Original Universe

Player Name: Doom

Other Characters: N/A

Character Name: Pasqualo Trianglini
Canon: Please Forgive Me!!!
Canon Point: Comic #200, "Mother Night, Sweep Me Away"
History: Pasqualo is a relatively ordinary high-school student in the extremely un-ordinary New Jersey town of Runoff Falls, a place where a snake person can be the student council president, there's a witch with a tumultuous relationship with the school janitor hiding in the woods, and a giant magma spider is the beloved new transfer student. Pasqualo was raised by her father, the brilliant scientist and garbage human being Obtusangelo Trianglini, and without another parental figure she had to learn how to fend for herself and withstand her father's never-ending verbal abuse.

Despite her dismal home situation, Pasqualo's made a number of friends, is a serial volunteer, and is popular around town for her relentlessly helpful attitude and cheery disposition. However, ever since her first year of high school her mental health has been on a rapidly accelerating downslide due to various Wacky Teenage Shenanigans* straining her relationship with her best friend Ally and imperiling her self-appointed position as Nicest Person in Runoff Falls. Even while her bond with her new friend Katie blossoms, Pasqualo is realizing that she can't imagine herself having a future because she'd always figured she'd die before she became a proper adult, and was contemplating her lack of a fate on a lonely hillside at night before she got swept away into one of Kaisou's Labyrinths. The head injury she sustained in her "fight" with a mutated dreadbear that escaped from Runoff Falls' abandoned uranium mines likely isn't helping matters.

*(Wacky Teenage Shenanigans including but not limited to as of her canon point: hunting for the L'il Jersey Debbil in the haunted woods outside of town lest she and her friends be made the student council's "pages," a task that she notably failed at, stalking and befriending an acclaimed YA author going to their school on the student council's presidents orders, a failed attempt to bust her best friend out of a mental institution that fumbled at the last second because Ally wanted to be there, going on a disastrous date with the lead singer of a metal band, helping the student council president with her younger sister's "bullying problem" and stopping said younger sister from bullying the rest of the school, [REDACTED] during a snowstorm, realizing that she was no longer the most important person in her best friend's life after Ally got together with their mutual childhood friend and spiraling about it, a failed attempt to rescue her friend Patience from her family's religious compound that succeeded by accident by drawing the attention of her father who knew Patience's dad, bettering her writing skills with Katie, and helping the volunteer militia contain an escaped dreadbear.)

It's worth noting that Pasqualo's existential position within the world of Please Forgive Me!!! is somewhat unique compared to the other characters. In the universe of the previous comic, It Hurts!!, a lonely middle school boy named Pasqualo made a prayer to an anonymous deity to give him whatever part of himself he was missing that would make him happy, and the cosmic force of Harmony granted his wish by creating an idealized girlfriend for him that was the incarnation of his missing self-love and repressed desires: Aurora. Unfortunately, when Pasqualo and Aurora fell in true love, it triggered the apocalypse (and Pasqualo's transformation into a superhuman cyborg courtesy of his father's modifications to his body). At the end of It Hurts!!, Pasqualo completed the journey to the end of the universe assigned to him by God after the deaths of everyone he knew and loved—notably a different event from the initial apocalypse—and as such was given the privilege of determining the nature of the next universe by Harmony and her counterpart, Chaos. When he was informed that Aurora couldn't exist as a separate entity from Pasqualo without causing the apocalypse, he made the universe of Please Forgive Me!!! and had "Aurora," the physical manifestation of his self-love and capacity to be confident, take "Pasqualo's" place, erasing the boy Pasqualo from existence in the process. i.e. Pasqualo 2.0 is a trans girl.

Personality: In Please Forgive Me!!!, the chief narrative tension lies in the carefully constructed front Pasqualo puts on for her friends slowly falling to pieces to reveal the deep, yawning abyss of depression and self-loathing that she wallows in. As far as the rest of the world is concerned, Pasqualo is a model citizen most of the time: always happy to help with whatever her friends are going through (to a fault, she's later referred to as "that white girl who gets herself involved in everyone else's problems" and that description is painfully accurate), perpetually energetic and upbeat to an almost uncanny degree, and a rock-solid pillar for all of her friends to rely on. In fact, the worse she's feeling, the more Pasqualo doubles down on her "genki girl" image and the more selfless and energetic she acts. This has legitimately adverse effects on her health, as Pasqualo is so invested in being as nice as possible that she takes on dangerous jobs like holding the line against radioactive bears just to be even more helpful, and refusing to take care of herself so that it doesn't seem like she's having a bad time—even though this ultimately worsens her visible state. Her mask is so precious to her that she takes any criticism of anything that she's remotely involved in extremely personally and obsessively works to fix whatever fault that's perceived; such as staying up for forty-eight consecutive hours furiously working on her comic thanks to Katie's legitimate constructive criticism of it.

Pasqualo is so invested in maintaining this image that she almost never lets anyone see how wretched she really feels all the time. She's practically a living mass of self-loathing kept shambling along through sheer discipline and force of habit, both of which are starting to fail her. Pasqualo even berates herself for being nice to people, arguing with herself in the mirror that she's doing it to just make herself feel better and if she was really a "good person" she wouldn't feel jealous of Ally and would try and help her get together with their mutual childhood best friend early on in the comic. Pasqualo's self-loathing is so evident that her "shadow self" conjured by a witch was a depressed, sobbing, broken mess who begged for help from her friends while the real Pasqualo gleefully murdered her and made jokes about it. Said shadow self's final words were, "I'm so... lonely..." as Pasqualo's desperation to keep up appearances has ended up creating a nigh-impassable barrier between her and her friends, making it difficult to truly connect with them.

It's important to note that while Pasqualo is obsessed with being as nice as possible, there's a hidden well of anger that's almost as deep as her self-loathing that turns into a geyser whenever she's pressed too hard. She fantasizes about brutally beating her abusive father to death with a bat and erupts into a rage when he smoothly solves problems that she'd failed to work out herself, but her anger isn't limited to Obtusangelo. Whenever she feels like someone is talking down to her or making her facade of the Nicest Person in Runoff Falls fall apart, she can become a relentless bitch in a number of ways. This fury can manifest positively, though, as a fierce protectiveness of all her friends and a desire to see justice done.

Time of Arrival to Kaisou: Mid-February 2022
Items: Nothing but the clothes on her back and her art notebooks.
Retained Ability: N/A, this version of Pasqualo is a perfectly ordinary human... but she may be able to regain the previous version of Pasqualo's cyborg abilities.
