OLD PAGE. GO TO THE CURRENT APP PAGE HERE

Okay so application is a very strong word and not entirely accurate, but it's a term we all know so bear with me. This is the page where you officially submit your character information for the game! Apps will not really be judged on its contents but more making sure everything fits into the setting of the game. If you want more information on the setting, please check out the FAQ!

How do I join the game?
This app page is currently open! Apps can be submitted by players at anytime. Apps are reviewed by the mod on Sundays.

To join the game, the only big thing is you'll require an invite from another player. Players can invite up to 2 people per month. Just be sure to list their name and have the person confirm that they did invite you either by contacting the mods directly or commenting to your app. Apps that do not have a invitation confirmation will not be looked at by the mods. If a confirmation does not come within two Sundays of the app's submission, it'll be automatically rejected.

A new player must be in the game one full month from their app acceptance date before they can invite another player (meaning if their app was approved on September 18th, they can invite people starting October 18th). This is so the new player has a chance to get acclimated to the game and community enough to assist any friends they later invite to the game.

Players who were in the game but who dropped/were swept will not need an invite to rejoin the game for up to one month after their drop date. After that month, they will require an invite to rejoin.

Once you submit your app, you'll get a welcome comment confirming that everything is a-okay. The only times I'll ask for revisions is if there needs to be a fix with power purchases or possessions.

Is there a player cap?
There is a player cap! Kaisou allows a total of 75 players. Should we ever reach cap, apps will close until openings become available.

PLAYER SLOTS: 46/75 filled.

What kind of characters do you allow?
Most things! Canon characters, Original characters, CRAU, AU characters - the list goes on. Double characters are also allowed so long as the doubles are notably different from one another (examples: MCU Peter Parker and Into the Spider-verse Peter Parker would be fine as they are two clearly different interpretations of the character. Alternatively, a canon version of a character and an AU version of the same character would be fine as long as the AU causes a notable difference in the character). Customizable protagonists and characters from canons with different story routes are allowed, and any characters with differing story routes would be considered AUs from one another.

The only requirement for a character is that they do require a consistent canon history. This is because many of the plot events and mechanics deal with memories and connections to their previous life (or current life if an OU). If you wish to app a mascot character that doesn't have a specific canon background (a vocalid, clippy, the trix rabbit, etc) - you are welcome to write an OC that's inspired by the character with a clear established background to work from. Characters who have multiple canon iterations (like Link from Legend of Zelda or Sonic the Hedgehog) will need to pick a single iteration to pull their canon background from. Characters must also have been properly introduced (not just a quick cameo) in their canon for at least one month at the time of apping.

How many characters can I play at a time?
You can play up to four active characters at a time! Only two of these characters are allowed to be Original Universe and there is a player cap of 25 OU players.

OU PLAYER SLOTS: 24/35 filled.

At the start of each month, we will make sure there are at least 2 OU player slots open whether it be through drops, or adding extra slots. But to keep from one cast from dominating the limited OU slots, there is a OU cast cap of 6 characters per cast. There's no cap on AUs from the canon at this time, just OUs!

Casts near Cap:
Final Fantasy XIV - 6/6, OUS CAPPED

How frequently can I submit an app?
There is no time restraint on the first two characters you app. If you join the game with the intent of playing two characters, you can app them both immediately or wait it out! However after you app your second character, you will require to wait one month between each new character app (so if you app your second character on March 2nd, you will need to wait until April 2nd to app a new character).

What type of characters can I play in this setting?
You have three options for characters!
  • Normal Modern AU: These characters have lived normal lives in a modern Earth setting, completely oblivious to anything strange up until their entry into the game. Anything in their backstory should be events that could reasonably happen in the real world. Upon acceptance, Normal AUs will be allowed to pick one free regain (canon regain or an elemental power) worth up to 3 points that will come into effect after they join the game.

  • Paranormal Modern AU: These are characters who have grown up in a modern Earth setting, but throughout their lives have experienced supernatural occurrences. These characters will get 3 extra points when they app to use for powers that the acquired at some point in their lives (if they so choose). Characters are also allowed to be apped as possessed status. Please refer to the FAQ for more information on that!

  • Original Universe Characters: Characters who hail from their original world and find themselves waking up in this world. These characters will not lose any memories, and are allowed to have any items that would reasonably be on their person when they arrive. They are allowed to retain one ability that's been weakened to beginner levels, otherwise they've been completely depowered.

Character Name: Hayato Gokudera
Canon: CRAU
Canon History: The wiki link: for the canon itself is here and Gokudera’s wiki page is here

CRAU History: CW: mentions of underage sex (he was 16)

- Tanagura/Amoi History: October 2015- July 2017: “In the distant future, a far-off planet is ruled by the residents of a capital called Tanagura. A group of wealthy "elite" are automatically revived from death, essentially making them immortal. Their law is enforced by ruthless authorities armed with the technology to stop even a god in their tracks. On the other side of the fence, unrest is stirring. The people of Midas are poor and abused, and rebels are banding together to respond to injustice with violence. They don't care who they have to kill, what they have to steal, or if they have to die trying. Things are going to change.”

Characters with blue, green, purple, brunette, or black hair are assigned to Tanagura, given a small fortune of wealth and considered elites.
Characters with white, silver, red, orange, or blond hair are considered mongrels, assigned to Midas, and given nothing.

This was a sex game. I put Gokudera through A LOT. I also did not get too active in the politics of the world setting, and so his involvement was minimal. He had all of his powers, and was kept as a pet twice during his stay, he was given an identification number, attended a protest, was seized by authorities where he was drugged and questioned (but didn’t know enough to constitute holding him), was abducted by the black market and helped lead a rescue mission for other victims.

- Redshift/Anchor History: June 2020- March 2021 REDSHIFT is a pan-fandom CRAU-focused survival game with elements of horror, set on an unnamed planet that exists in the dead space between universes. Player-driven and exploration focused, the colony of Anchor's facilities and story can be unlocked piece by piece through character actions…

Gokudera was on Anchor for roughly a year and met a castmate he’d had a previous romantic relationship with. They fought a giant robot spider and zombies together. I’d killed him and brought him back and he was living pretty easily with his powers and a boyfriend before he ended up in Avalon.

- Avalon History: November 2020-February 2022 Another pan-fandom game, but this one more of a Arthurian fantasy where Gokudera did not have his powers anymore and instead had to learn magic (with his types being elemental and light). He’s lost a lot and loved a lot, yet keeps adapting as I put him through as much hell as any player can…

Canon Personality:

- uptight
- grumpy
- tsundere
- perfectionist
- loyal
- immature
- explosive
- mercurial
- passionate
- hardworking
- intelligent
- adventurous
- lone wolf
- expressive
- kind hearted
- obsessive
- sensitive
- volatile
- detail-oriented
- proud
- independent
- reckless

AU History:
- Born and raised somewhere in Italy, father (unnamed) was a mafia boss, mother (also unnamed) was his piano teacher for three years, and also a mistress who died in a mysterious “accident”

- He’s always been interested in cryptozoology and hunting mysteries, had a knack for producing small explosions and is taken with developing his own explosives.

- Gokudera spends the later half of his childhood trying to join a mafia family after running away from home and finding out about his true mother’s identity.

- Was hired as a hitman by the Grijo family to dispose of a Vongola family member with his explosives

- Couldn’t do it, had a change of heart, disarmed the bomb he’d planted for the hit, and was sent to Kaisou by the Vongola to hide out from the Grijo and start a new life. He went with his “Uncle” Shamal (a hitman who uses mosquitoes to transfer diseases to his targets and a friend of his father’s)

- He still starts fires and explosions and has never, sadly, seen an alien

- He’s going to focus on trying to blend in like a normal teenager and develop his magic on the side

- He was staying with his sister, Bianchi for a while, but she developed all kinds of poisons and potions and would test them out on him, enough so that he can’t look at her face without getting sick. (In canon she poisoned him when they were both children, so we can say that it just persisted with a lot more magic here and essentially he was a potion guinea pig)

- He’s staying in an apartment on his own, and his sister regularly wires him money, but he’s doing well enough to get by on his own fresh out of high school

- Gokudera still makes his own dynamite in his apartment. It’s not legal, but it’s also not something he’s telling anyone about.

- He’s not eager to do anything mafia related, unless the Vongola come calling. Gokudera is curious about how the fire/smokey mini-explosions keep showing up more/are easy to create in Kaisou than they ever were anywhere else.

- Maybe if he can develop his power somehow, he can be worthy enough to join the Vongola family…

-If the boss ever shows up, he’ll just transfer into his classes like a legit new transfer student.

AU Personality Differences: Gokudera is usually obsessed with proving himself worthy of being the Tenth Vongola boss’s right-hand man. However, he went to Kaisou before meeting him. He’s now more obsessed with his worth revolving around his grasp of magic.

Regardless of that focus, and to keep it very canon-parallel, he’ll mess up if he’s working too hard on proving himself. That grinding to stand out has always caused him struggle, but without being actively involved in the mafia or his OU, that pressure will be less prevalent.

He’ll still be a reserved grump, but won’t be hyper-focused on one person (unless that one person shows up), and instead will be a bit more open to communication with others and less of a lone wolf.

He may also warm up sooner to other characters he has past CR with from other games after regaining memories, whereas in canon, he is very very very quiet and judgmental until angered. Typically he’s only nice to his boss, but… not here~ Not yet~

Character Name: Danny Fenton
Canon: Danny Phantom
Canon History: Here

Canon Personality:
  • Laid-back and easy going.
  • A little mischievous. He likes pranks and terrible puns.
  • Stubborn
  • Overprotective
  • Overdeveloped sense of responsibility
  • Prone to doubting and blaming himself
  • Curious. Fascinated by the idea of exploring somewhere no one else has been.
  • Sarcastic and a little cynical
  • Paranoid
  • Wants to believe the best of people, but also is too much of a realist to put too much trust in them.
  • Just wants to be accepted as he is, but isn’t sure if that’s possible.

AU History:
Danny grew up in Kaisou. He’s an only child, with parents that are affectionate, but very busy. And so he has been left to his own devices a lot.

He has a strong interest in astronomy and space, and can often be found on the weekends setting up his telescope. He has thought about becoming an astronaut, but isn’t sure yet whether he wants to pursue that in college or not. Lately he’s also started to take an interest in engineering and in tinkering with gadgets.

He likes terrible monster movies and video games. He’s not much of a reader, unless its something he’s interested in.

He attends the local high school, where his favorite classes are sciences. He’s not in any clubs or extracurriculars, but he’s been thinking about joining some.

AU Personality Differences:
  • Danny is a little more confident than his canon self, due to never dealing with the bullying that came from being a member of “that weird ghost hunting family”.
  • Danny is less paranoid. Here he hasn’t had to live under the constant stress of a double life, so he’s not looking for an attack around every corner. And he’s also a little more naive and much more willing to trust people.
  • In canon Danny spent a lot of time doubting himself when it came to school, and comparing himself to his family of geniuses. Even though he had the ability to do well in school, he never found the motivation to apply himself. Here he is far more confident in his ability to do well, and was able to pursue some of his interests.
  • Danny…. does not believe in ghosts.

Other Characters: N/A

Character Name: Luz Noceda

Canon: The Owl House

Canon Point: Season 2 episode 16, "Hollow Mind."

History: Luz’s history

Personality:Luz is a sweet and perceptive (mostly) girl, has been on earth and very much still is on the Boiling Isles. She ran into trouble reigning in her livelier attitude back home but on the Boiling Isles Luz understands how to control some of her wilier actions. She’s a brightly energetic person that brings her love of lore and fantasy expectations with her, even if it is that love and curiosity that brings her trouble.

Luz is absolutely dedicated to reaching her goal of being like her book hero, Azura, in being self-assured and victorious in her endeavors. Luz is fixated on becoming her own kind of witch, despite there never having been a human one in the Boiling Isles. She continues to push toward the potential she knows she has, evidenced by learning glyphs, an entirely new way of performing magic. She shares this magic with others, intent on helping people who don’t have magic themselves (Eda and Lilith) or those who want to learn it themselves (Amity/Gus). She dedicates herself to helping her friends, and comes to love the Isles as a place where magic and knowledge can happen.

Luz is an affectionate girl, leaning toward physical and emotional affection to help lift the people around her. While she could not make friends on Earth, she makes them faster in the Boiling Isles. Between Eda, King, Willow, Gus and Amity, Luz has learned not only how much all of these people mean to her, she has insight on the way they’re trying to overcome problems of their own, and she keeps that in her mind when she sees them bullied or losing faith. If there’s one thing Luz had learned being on Earth, its that it always sucks to be the person left out. She has a strong sense of justice, and refuses to let an unfair system that excludes and hurts people thrive.

This is actually tied up with one of her flaws: she constantly tries to help others and tends to forget about herself. In fact, she makes a habit of making her own problems smaller in favor of helping someone else out, enough that those that care about her have started to notice this. Luz keeps her pain pushed down because other people, in her eyes, matter MORE, and that usually winds up blowing up in her face. She tends to make her failing matter more than her successes, and this usually is a detriment to her overall morale.

Something also holding Luz back at achieving her goals is her impulsivity. Luz will leap before she looks, and this can cause her to fall into some bad situations where she is literally risking her life. The people around Luz help ground her to reality, that she needs to think things through before she acts or risks putting everything she works for in jeopardy.

Despite her good intentions, Luz is still stumbling to get the strength to follow through on her ability to help. Sometimes her “help” involved friends becoming embroiled in all NEW problems, and it is only through their help that she can win the day, or at least avoid potentially worse scenarios. There are other times that her willingness to help people can blind her to potential dangers that can arise, and she’s had to shoulder the consequences of these actions later, such as trying to remove Eda’s curse inadvertently leading to her mentor’s capture and her first real defeat.

These situations have helped to strengthen Luz’s dedication to see exactly what she is capable of. Eda getting captured lit a fire in Luz that she did not know she had, and we find Luz is both capable and offensively powerful against enemies she ran from before. She even manages to injure the Boiling Isle’s supposed legendary Emperor despite him being touted as powerful and incomparable in strength to anyone’s magic. Luz’s hard work has paid off in making her an accomplished novice witch, one of her own making.

Luz is currently dealing with the realization that the world is a much bigger and crueler place than she thought it was, whether it’s Earth OR the Boiling Isles, and that she’ll need as much help as she can to being the kind of person who can face those troubles head on. She’s beginning to see that systemic fear mongering and deception can go a long way in swaying good people to live in an unjust system, which will only push her to buck against the system even MORE.

Time of Arrival to Kaisou: Immediate.

Items: Luz will be arriving with the clothes on her back (her shorts, capris, cat hoodie and shoes) as well as Eda’s old school Grudgby jacket.

Also, a damaged “witches wool” cloak.

Retained Ability: She can cast her glyphs, but they’ll be really, really weak. Her “plant” glyph will probably just grow her bean sprouts, her ice glyphs will give her ice cubes for her drink, the fire glyph will help her light a stove, her light glyph will work like a flashlight, that kind of thing.

Character Name: Tenn Kujo
Canon: IDOLiSH7
Canon History: Tenn Kujo, formely known as Tenn Nanase, was born alongside his twin brother, Riku. The two of them grew up in a relatively happy household and had a strong relationship. Their parents owned a club that would eventually start having financial issues; another big issue in the family was Riku's health condition. Riku had respiratory problems that would often put him in the hospital. While all of this was happening, a man named Takamasa Kujou had set his sights on Tenn in his efforts to search for a new legendary idol.

He offered to help the Nanase family with their financial troubles if Tenn would enter his family instead. At the age of thirteen, Tenn accepted Kujou's offer and was officially adopted by him. His name legally changed to Tenn Kujo and he abandoned the Nanase name, hurting Riku and their parents in the process.

After being adopted by Kujou, Tenn would later debut in a group under Yaotome Productions named TRIGGER alongside his bandmates, Gaku Yaotome and Ryuunosuke Tsunashi.

Canon Personality:
Tenn is extremely dedicated to his craft and will stop at nothing to make sure his fans are all taken care of and happy. In Part 1, Tenn feels very faint and nearly collapses before a concert. He has to be carried back to the concert hall by Tamaki, and despite their worries about his current (at the time) condition, Tenn still performed flawlessly. He didn't show an ounce of being tired or feeling ill during his performance, either. Tenn takes being an idol very seriously and makes it a point to dedicate himself to his career.

Tenn will give a lot of respect to other idols when he can see their hard work come to fruition. At the end of Part 1, TRIGGER is defeated at the Black or White event by IDOLiSH7. Despite this, Tenn doesn't look the slightest bit perturbed and tells Gaku that I7's desire to win reached the audience more than theirs. He accepts defeat gracefully and congratulates Riku and the rest of I7 on their victory without any sort of hidden bitterness or resentment. Furthermore, he shows a lot of respect to Re:vale -- Re:vale is considered TRIGGER and IDOLiSH7's seniors due to being around longer and having more experience in the industry, and Tenn really admires their legacy.

Tenn's dedication to his fans ties into how selfless he can be. He prioritizes his fans over his own wellbeing; in Part Two, when he asks Riku if there's someone he likes, Riku responds that he's interested in someone. When he asks the same question back to Tenn, Tenn said that his relationship is with his fans and talks about making them happy. Furthermore, Tenn's reason for leaving the Nanase family was to protect them -- especially Riku -- and he abandoned his family name in order to keep them financially stable.

Despite the cheerful, kind smiles he wears in the public eye, Tenn can actually be ruthless when it comes to voicing his opinions, especially around TRIGGER and IDOLiSH7. He's not always the "People's Angel" behind the scenes. In Part 2, he tells Riku that he should quit being an idol, and that if Riku really wants to say, he'll clap for him when he sings karaoke. Ouch. He also gets into arguments with Gaku pretty often because of their different interpretations of what it means to be an idol.

Other than showing a different face backstage, Tenn has some issues with communication. When Riku asks Tenn why he left home, Tenn gives him a false reason: He tells Riku that he thought their parents were wrong and weren't handling their club well. He hides this because he knows the truth would absolutely break Riku and make Riku feel like a liability, but that coupled with how he always says Riku isn't his brother anymore mask how he really does feel about Riku. There are a handful of moments in which Riku dishes the same amount of hurt back at Tenn when he gets upset, such as when Riku genuinely believes Tenn never needed him. Tenn is clearly affected by this and backpedals completely, telling Riku that he always thinks of him and that they've always been together since they were twins. It's a very stark contrast to how cold he can be, and it's moments like these that bring his true feelings out.

Tenn's loyalties are all over the place. He cares so much about Riku that he wants to protect him, which is why he agreed to be adopted by Kujou; in the process, though, he's become attached to Kujou too and will cover for him if he's in trouble. While that's happening, Tenn is also very attached to TRIGGER and considers them to be his friends. His relationship with Kujou gets dicey in Part 2 in particular -- Kujou disguises himself as the legendary idol Zero and goes around doing harmful graffiti about TRIGGER, IDOLiSH7, and Re:vale. When the latter two groups catch him escaping, they end up cornering him; Tenn, however, knowing this is Kujou, turns off the lights and gives him a pathway to escape. He can't seem to dedicate himself to a cause because of how attached he gets to the people in his life.

AU History:
  • Born and raised in Kaisou and developed an interest in entertainment from a young age.
  • Relatively popular in school, though he had no interest in being a “cool kid”, just someone who had a lot of friends
  • His interest was in theater, and he had his first supernatural encounter while rehearsing for a school play in intermediate school. A ghastly woman was dancing beside him, mimicking his every move, and when he told his teacher about it, his teacher kinda looked at him funny, as did his classmates. His peers teased him a lot about it! It made him sad.
  • The ghost would follow him around throughout the rest of his life, though, and he could never really get anyone to believe him — not even his own family. This impeded his ability to perform (he was scared of her and didn’t want her around anymore, so he practiced less) and he ended up not landing many leading roles for a while. His confidence was hit and he started thinking about seeking a different career path.
  • However, in high school, Tenn's choir teacher saw his potential and could tell Tenn was troubled for whatever reason. Tenn lied and said he was having family issues at home, knowing that his teacher wouldn’t believe him if he spoke of the ghostly woman following him around. The teacher allowed him to talk about his worries, minus the supernatural stuff, and helped Tenn restore his confidence in performing.
  • He landed a leading role in his senior year of high school, restoring his desire to pursue theater as a profession. The ghost was, as always, still around, but he started learning how to live with her presence instead of trying to ward her off.
  • He is now at Kaisou University, attempting to pursue his dreams of musical theater once more.

AU Personality Differences: In this AU, Tenn is more isolated and self-reliant. He’s also less sure of himself and his abilities than he is in canon, and since he doesn’t really have a solid fanbase yet, he’s not nearly as concerned with his image and putting on a kind smile around people when he’s not feeling up for it. Tenn also doesn't have a Kujou figure in his life (thank god), so he's more free to do what he wants!!

Character Name: Moxxie – Au legal name Maxwell Lansky, though goes by the nickname of 'Moxxie'
Canon: Helluva Boss
Canon History: Here

Canon Personality: Moxxie is an anxious little imp who doesn't have the personality you'd expect from someone born and raised in Hell. He's polite, reasonable, and actually seems to have a moral compass. For example, he was horrified at the thought of killing the mother of a happy family, to the point of ruining Blitz's shot when they're hired to kill Martha and he thinks the family looks happy and wholesome. Of course, he's very much willing to kill her when she and her family turn out to be cannibals and they attempt to kill Millie and Blitzo, but even then he tries to spare her family and is horrified when the police kill them.

That said, his moral compass still doesn't point true all the time. He genuinely enjoys killing. Though some of this is likely due to his compunctions against murder getting worn down over time, even if the first episode he was excited when Blitzo offered him the kill until he saw how happy the target and her family were. He seems to enjoy watching Millie engage in extreme acts of violence, and even seems to think Loopty's implication of torturing his former business partner is 'kind of hot'. He's also been seen letting loose and going on a maniacal shooting spree when IMP was escaping from the government facility, and also shot wildly in a crowded theater hitting numerous innocent bystanders while fighting CHERUB and making out with Millie. Because of this, his compunctions against killing only seem to come into play when he's given a reason to feel guilty about it.

Aside from the small glimmer of a moral compass, another aspect of his personality that seems to be in conflict with his being from Hell is his complete and total wholesome love for Millie, his wife. He writes songs for her, cooks for her, and even when he's completely drunk to the point of delirium, all he wants to do is flirt with her. His first concern when captured by government agents isn't what will happen to him, but whether Millie will be in danger when she tries to rescue him.

Of course, despite the fact that Millie's more than capable of taking care of herself, it's not surprising that Moxxie tends to worry if he thinks she might be in danger, as he's prone to worry about things in general. He's always been too disturbed by theme parks to ever go to one, being particularly worried about the mascots. He also worries about what other people think about him, and is overly concerned about trying to win the respect of Millie's parents, even entering the Pain Games to win their respect. Ironically, it's not until he got so fed up with them that he blows up at them for blaming Millie for losing in a fight against Striker that he actually manages to gain that respect.

Though Moxxie is generally calm and well mannered, it seems surprisingly easy to get him riled enough that he stops thinking. At Loo Loo Land, he becomes so frustrated at a rigged game that he keeps buying more and more tickets trying to beat it that he doesn't really stop to think that he's never going to win because it's clearly rigged. Striker also has an easy time baiting him throughout the time he was in the Wrath Ring for the Harvest Moon Festival, leading him to try and kill a pig on his own (despite not knowing what he was doing). In addition to wanting to win the respect of Millie's parents, Striker's baiting played a part in convincing Moxxie to enter the pain games. Blitzo also regularly pushes his buttons in various ways, often getting a heated reaction out of Moxxie.

Moxxie's also the nerd of the group. Aside from the fact that Millie makes murdering fun for him, the rest of his passion seems to come from his love of guns. When he hears her family bring up war, he goes on a tangent that no one else there is interested in on guns and the use of technological advances in warfare. He also instantly recognizes the exact type of gun Striker has when he sees it, and generally seems to know a lot about the history of guns. He's also an excellent marksman with a huge array of weapons, and likely has spent a lot of time practicing his shot.

His other passion seems to be music. He loves musical theater, opera, and writes songs and plays the guitar for Millie. He also wants to know what sex with Michael Crawford, the original actor who played the phantom in Phantom of the Opera, would be like. However, he can be snobbish about the kinds of music he'll listen to, and generally acts like he's above listening to pop music.

AU History: Maxwell Lansky, or Moxxie as he likes to be called, was born to a family that was struggling to make ends meet. Until they weren't. When his father, Christopher Lansky, started working for a local crime syndicate, their family started doing much better, and Moxxie ended up raised with access to many of the more refined things in life, such as opera. At an early age, he developed a passion for opera as well as musical theater and learned all he could about it.

His father didn't want his family knowing about his lifestyle, of course, so as far as they knew he'd just gotten a very cushy job as a 'personal accountant' for a very wealthy man. Moxxie never questioned it. He didn't even question it when his father, knowing the level of danger his line of work could put Moxxie in, decided to get Moxxie a gun when he was a teenager and took him out to the shooting range to learn how to use it. To Moxxie, this was just a fun father and son bonding experience they got to do together, and he took an interest in guns after that. He learned the history of different types of guns, their use in war, and of course, how to shoot them. He even began collecting guns, particularly historical pieces.

Moxxie never worked out what his father did for a living until he was twenty one, and both his parents ended up killed by one of his father's 'associates', and the details were revealed to him in the police investigation that ensued.

If it was a movie, maybe he'd have gone on some sort of quest for revenge, but he didn't. Moxxie, honestly, was not interested in trying to track down a killer, and had no idea what he'd do even if he found the person responsible. He certainly didn't think he was ready to deal with people involved with the sort of thing his dad was apparently involved with, and besides, he was most of the way through getting his teaching degree and he didn't want to throw all that away.

Moxxie went on to finish his studies, and now, at 30 years old, has a teaching position as a musical theater teacher at Kaisou University. It should also be noted that for reasons related to the theater department at Kaisou University, he owns a ventriloquist dummy that's dressed in a suit with a red bow tie. This will become relevant when he shrinks to his canon height of 2'5 from his current height of 5'5.

AU Personality Differences: Overall his personality is pretty much the same. The only real difference is that while Max Lansky might enjoy going to a shooting range, generally his interest in guns is entirely academic. The willingness to kill, the enjoyment at seeing violence, and the blood lust once he gets into a killing spree are all completely gone. As he regains memories from his life as an imp he will also regain bits of these feelings, but at least initially, he'll be completely horrified that there's any part of him that feels this way.

He also has never met Millie, so his feelings for her don't exist yet.

Otherwise he's completely the same.

Canon History: An actual good boy

Canon Personality:

+ Diplomatic
+ Trustworthy
+ Friendly
+ Just a Good Boy(TM) in general
- Naive
- Stubborn
- Proud (at some points)
- Debates when he shouldn't tbh

AU History: Alphinaud was born into a normal family in France with his mom, dad, and twin sister Alisaie. They lived a relatively normal life until one day, Alphinaud and Alisaie gained the interest of a fae. Before the fae could sweep both of them away from their family, however, Louisoix intervened and banished the creature back to its realm. Alphinaud went on to have a rather normal childhood since, but kept his interest in the supernatural since. He's in Kaisou university on a full scholarship, studying literature instead of law, and trying to see something supernatural after seeking it for years.

AU Personality Differences: Alphinaud isn't too different from his canon counterpart- if anything, he's a bit more timid due to his father being a bit more pushy for wanting him to do law. Other than that, he's friendly and a bit diplomatic due to how his sister is.

Element: Water

Character Name: Albedo
Canon: Genshin Impact
Canon History: Lore page | In-game appearances summary

Canon Personality:
- INTELLIGENT: Albedo is the Captain of the Investigation Team for the Knights of Favonius and also known as a genius for his mastery of a long-forgotten branch of alchemy known as Khemia. He's admitted that he spends approximately 5% of his energy on his work tasks (and he spends the other 95% of his energy cleaning up the explosive messes left by his younger sister Klee) and has been shown to be quick-witted, able to draw disparate clues together to piece together a story far quicker than other people listening to the story. For instance, in the Hues of the Violet Garden event, Albedo was able to piece together that Ayato and Yae Miko were pulling the strings behind the events of the festival, and also managed to get Venti out of being arrested and called out Xingqiu on the holes of his cover story about his arrival in Inazuma.

- RELENTLESS CURIOSITY: Albedo's final mission from his master is to "seek out the truth of the world", which he takes to like a duck to water. Albedo's driving motivation is his curiosity in anomalies and researching them. With an endless thirst for knowledge, so long as it presents itself as an anomaly, Albedo is likely to pursue some form of research on it. That said, he carries with him a clinical detachment that manifests in somewhat slightly questionable morality - which may also be a product of his slight inhumanity. In his story quest, he has no qualms about feeding potentially suspicious materials to the Traveler to see how they react (what if Albedo had accidentally poisoned them?!) and also keeping a cursed sword to study it in Chalk Prince and the Dragon. Even under pressure he's cool and collected, analysing things clearly and taking into account most situations before acting - fitting of his true academic personality.

- INTROVERTED: Despite Albedo's popularity with the citizenry of Mondstadt, it's pretty much a miracle if he's spotted around town, given that he's more likely to be found on his research camp up on Dragonspine. Albedo claims that it's tiring and taxing to maintain interpersonal relationships, and would very much prefer to be up alone on an unforgivingly frigid mountain to conduct his experiments and his studies. That said, he's not totally anti-social in that sense of the word - most Mondstadters and his fellow colleagues in the Knights of Favonius have nothing but good things to say about him, and he also has increasingly made efforts to maintain relationships with a select circle of people. During the events of Golden Apple Archipelago, he literally fucked off away from the main group, choosing to abandon his companions once they got to arguing to go and do his own thing. Fast forward to the events of Hues of the Violet Garden and he actually does try to make an effort to speak to the outlanders who have arrived with him for the Irodori Festival, even teaming up to solve a couple of mysteries and offer his help.

- KIND: Despite his preference to be away from other people, Albedo has never been one to turn away someone in need, or if he happens to see someone in need. It's part of what contributes to his good reputation in Mondstadt, and he does seem to have the wellbeing of the people that he cares about at heart. Given Albedo's homuncular nature, he also worries sincerely about causing harm to the people of Mondstadt if he ever does go berserk. That said, he also has a very gentle disposition, adopting an extremely mild-mannered and polite tone and taking his time with his words almost as if choosing them carefully before he speaks. He has a little bit of a sarcastic streak to him, and will occasionally make jokes about people (joking that he would only take three strokes to draw Kaeya, for example), but they usually never come from a place of malice.

AU History: Albedo's earliest memories are from the orphanage - just dropped off on the doorstep with nothing but his name. When he was a young toddler, he was adopted by his current mother, who was a thriving academic at the local university in Kaisou specialising in biology.

At least, that was what she told everybody. Because aside from her day job at the university, Albedo's mother was also part of an underground research group that was searching for answers to the paranormal - specifically on the branch of searching for answers as to a person's spirit levels and pushing the limits thereof. While Albedo's mother held some affection for the boy, he was primarily a research subject first and foremost, so Albedo spent most of his childhood in laboratories participating in experiments one way or another. His mother taught him all that she knew, but was never directly involved in the experiments that Albedo was.

And one day, everything went pear shaped, and an experiment was too much for young Albedo to handle, and he almost died. The explosive build up alerted the authorities, and the aftermath was Messy (in a complete understatement of the word). Albedo doesn't remember much about that, due to the trauma and also the fact that he came out of that incident possessed by a dragon - but he and his mother got out of the entire ordeal relatively unscathed.

So to speak.

His mother cut off ties with that research group, and after spending a few more years with her son, received an offer for a tenure track position in an overseas university. As Albedo was still a teenager in the middle of schooling, she made arrangements for him to continue to stay in Kaisou with a friend of hers and their young daughter for a semblance of normality.

Presently, news of that incident and the child that was involved is mostly buried in the annals of history, and Albedo has no intentions of bringing that up ever again. Currently, Albedo is in his final year of university with a double science major (biomedical engineering and psychology) and keeping a relatively low profile by being quite unassuming. He has an upcoming internship lined up for the summer after graduation, does art as a hobby in his spare time, spends his time not studying chasing his energetic little sister around and corralling her back on track.

So, life is normal!

At least, that's what he thinks.

AU Personality Differences: Not much! The biggest personality differences are that Albedo doesn't find interpersonal relationships as big of a chore and is more willing and open to interact and make friends with people, and that instead of being cool and collected all the time, he's more likely to be impulsive with an appropriate side of unhinged by virtue of his paranormal possession (see below).

Element: Fire
Purchased Powers: Reduced need for sleep (5 hours) - 1 point
Conjure a fire the size of basketball - 2 points
Possession: Albedo is possessed by a dragon. As such, due to the dragon's fear masking powers, he no longer has a concept of fear, which makes him more likely to do more reckless things and get himself into trouble more often because he has literally no more concept of "this is a bad idea". Given that he has lived with this condition for the better part of his life, he's gotten a little better at controlling such impulses, but he's still more likely than not to disregard consequences and just go for it.

And as a fun fact, his blood has now turned slightly corrosive and has changed colour from red to a dark brown, almost black kind of thing. Touching his blood is not going to be a good idea.

Raine Whispers | The Owl House | Paranormal AU

Player Name: Space

Character Name: Raine Whispers
Canon: Owl House
Canon History: The most we know about Raine pre-current canon is that they used to attend a fairly prestigious witch academy purely on scholarships that relied on them making the school look good at annual competitions. After meeting and befriending Eda at one competition, they failed to get the award that would normally keep their scholarship, and transferred to Eda's school. There, they got on the Bard coven track, dated Eda for a while, then broke up with Eda before officially joining the Bard coven. As for the current canon, Raine has progressed to being a Coven Leader for the Bard Coven and one of the Emperor’s subordinates, but has realized how deeply messed up the system is and put together a small masked group of rebels to fight back. They worked with Eda to rescue some other witches from imprisonment, then was captured themselves as a traitor. As of now, Raine is pretending to have their memory erased so they can continue working in secret against the Emperor and keep Eda safe.

Canon Personality: Raine, while extremely talented at both music and their magic and is well aware of it, also has horrible stage fright and does not really like people that much. They do much better in one-on-one interactions with others, particularly those they know well. They are, however, quite sneaky and are good at reading people, especially to gain trust and steer a conversation in a way that helps Raine get what they need. They’re very protective of those they do care about, and won’t hesitate to put themselves in harm’s way for their sake. They’re quick on their feet and quick to adapt to whatever they need in most situations.

AU History: Raine was born to a lower-middle class family but showed aptitude for the musical arts. Their parents did what they could in helping Raine learn music before ultimately settling on the violin. They managed to get into a decent high school and performed in several tournaments and got a partial scholarship and grants for university. While studying throughout school, Raine met Edalyn, a rambunctious, loud student that stood out to Raine immediately. They became friends early on before eventually dating for several years. But when it came time for graduation and Raine had their next steps figured out and Eda didn’t, Raine broke it off. They felt Eda was not only considering their future, but may also have been hiding things from them and pushing them away in ways that hurt Raine to think about. Once at university, Raine did decently well for high school before eventually graduating and becoming a violinist for the local orchestra.

Which seems normal enough. Except for that one time as a child, practicing violin in their room as they pulled the bow along the strings, a resounding snap of a string before a small splash of water came from before them. The water came from the end of their bow without any other visible source. They weren’t sure what that meant, but the more they focused, the more often it happened, feeling gradually more in control of water around them. They didn’t say anything, of course. Nothing to freak their parents out or ruin anything potentially good.

AU Personality Differences: There isn’t much! Though likely a bit more secluded when they want to be alone, but able to be a little more sociable when the occasion calls for it being a performer and all. They don’t mind having one-on-one conversations, or looking through online forums and the like, but in person they just do not like large groups and will avoid it if they can.

Eda Clawthorne | The Owl House | Paranormal AU

[personal profile] traaaaaash 2022-05-01 11:31 am (UTC)(link)
Player Name: Val
Contact: [plurk.com profile] honeyfoot

Other Characters: N/A

Character Name: Edalyn Clawthorne, or Eda for short
Canon: The Owl House
Canon History: hey hey wiki

Canon Personality:

  • REBELLIOUS: Eda is as chaotic as they come, having been an infamous prankster at Hexside, one of the Boiling Isles’ magic schools. Her permanent record is thicker than most books. As an adult, she is a wanted criminal for refusing to submit to the mandatory coven system, as it restricts people to performing only one kind of magic and Eda isn’t about that. Also petty crimes like theft and running get-rich-quick-schemes that never quite seem to work out, seeing as she’s not exactly swimming in it. In general, she detests authorities of any kind, preferring to do things her own way. This even manifests when she is trying to learn glyph magic from Luz, as she declares learning the basics “boring” and proceeds to do wild and hazardous experiments. Basically, Eda is a fully grown adult who will absolutely blow raspberries at you if she doesn’t like your face.

  • CARING: Despite that, however, Eda also has a big huge heart and more than a little bit of a maternal instinct. While shenanigans are often had, Eda will generally try to keep the kids in her care out of actual danger if she can help it, and her arc over the series also sees her becoming more responsible and *gasp* making to-do lists because a kid needs a new coat or something like that. She makes a surprisingly good parent figure, as exemplified by, among others, that time she got over her personal deep disdain for the school system and did everything in her power (which included cleaning toilets) to get Luz enrolled at Hexside. And despite her often antagonistic relationship with her sister Lilith, Eda still loves her and is quick to forgive Lilith for putting her actual curse on her when they were young – while at the same time blaming herself for the ways she’s hurt her loved ones due to said curse.

  • ANXIOUS: Listen she talks a big game but there are quite a few things that scare Eda. Mostly, that’d be her own emotions. Due to her curse, she is scared to get close to people and has a habit of pushing them away and putting on a carefree façade in a bid to keep herself from going into the ~DANGER ZONE~ of actually caring about someone. And when she does get attached, the fear of losing said people looms over her. She also has a big tendency to run from her problems and pretend she’s fine when she is definitely not.

  • BOISTEROUS: Eda likes to brag! Be it about her skills in cheating at sports and games, her magic abilities, or how hot she is, Eda is often heard making quite grandiose claims about herself. Luckily for her, she can back many of them up. For example, she gave herself the title of Most Powerful Witch of the Boiling Isles and, barring Emperor Belos, that appears to be true… well, until she loses her magic to her curse, that is.

AU History: Eda was born to a lower middle class family consisting of father Dell, mother Gwendolyn, sister Lilith and her. She showed a penchant for getting into trouble early, and as time went on, became an open delinquent who constantly caused chaos at school, despite occasionally getting good grades and being a star football player. She spent a lot of time in detention.

As time went on, Lilith entered a bit of a goth phase, getting interested in the occult and witchcraft. Being very close to her sister, Eda took interest in the same and soon discovered that she had actual spirit power. She started to experiment with spells and potions on the sly.

Things went wrong when one day, when she was at home, a blast of unknown magic suddenly grabbed Eda, almost killing her. It was then that la Lechuza took possession of her, saving her life, but also, well, possessing her. Eda never found out where the blast came from, but since then, la Lechuza comes out and takes control of her in stressful situations and Eda can only bargain with her by eating small rodents every so often. Reactions in her family differed; her father was mostly absent anyway, while her mother became overprotective of Eda and started looking into about every alternative medicine and MLM scheme available. Eda’s relationship with her mother became very strained in the process, causing her to run away from home at one point, though she eventually returned.

In high school, she met Raine Whispers, whom she became fast friends with and eventually dated for a while. Raine broke it off when it became clear that, unlike them, Eda had not really figured out her direction in life, and furthermore was trying to hide her possession from them and emotionally pushing them away in the process.

Having had a contentions relationship with education at best and being impacted by her possession, the breakup was about the last push Eda needed to drop out of school shortly before graduating. She moved out of her family home and started supporting herself with odd jobs, not all of which were legal. Among her crimes are fraud and larceny, but she’s covered her tracks well enough that the police can’t pin anything on her, though they try every so often.

As of the present, she runs a small store with antiques and occult items of questionable origin.

AU Personality Differences: She’s maybe not quite as boastful, as she does not have reason to claim the title Most Powerful Witch of the Boiling Isles, but otherwise pretty much the same. Her hatred of the Coven System is transferred onto Zodiac in-game. She might also be a little less warm, as she has not met King or Luz and thus her strong motherly side lies dormant.

Element: Wind
Purchased Powers: I would like “make objects you can hold in your hands float” for 2 points and “don’t need hairspray to make your hairstyle wind resistant” for 1 point!
Possession: She is possessed by la Lechuza, a witch in the form of an owl or owl-woman from Mexican folklore. Her contract price is having to eat small rodents every so often.

Character Name: Diego Brando
Canon: Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure
Canon Point: Post series.
History: wikia

And I’m sorry, IDK how to do brevity in apps. Forgive me.

Personality: The base of Diego's personality can be described with one word: ambitious. Going beyond that he's a much more complicated individual, especially when you factor in the tragic past that shaped him into the man he became.

When he was a child he had a good attitude about things, despite the poor conditions that he was raised in. Happy, resourceful, adoring of his mother; he was definitely a very good kid without the same driving ambition we see as an adult. After she spoke out against abuse that she was suffering, she and Diego were both punished as a result; this was the beginning of the slippery slope that would eventually push him completely over the edge. His mother sacrificed her well-being to keep her son's dignity intact and eventually she fell ill, it was at this point that he began to resent those around him and their position in life. His mother's death wasn't just difficult for him to accept, it was something deeper than that: a personal slight against him. Those feelings of resentment that had formed within him had turned into something different, something far more dangerous and vengeful.

He didn't just dislike the people he'd grown up around, he hated them for allowing the treatment they had endured to continue. He vowed to seek revenge against those that had destroyed what little family he had, though that revenge didn't extend to the other workers at the farm but to the owner and even his own father (who tried to throw him in a river and abandoned them both when his mother fished him back out). His idea of revenge, however, was a little different than just going completely slasher on people; it was more about gaining prestige and climbing all the way to the top of the societal ranks.

This idea of revenge against his father and the people who had wronged him in the past his what fuels him; Diego is a driven young man that will stop at nothing to achieve what he's after. He can be cordial to others, but usually only when he's looking to get something in return or he's trying to get leverage on the other person. He is a user and a manipulator, much like his counterpart from another universe. If it will get him what he wants, he will absolutely do it, right down to marrying an old woman for her money.

The only thing that he actually seems to care about aside from fortune and glory is his horse, Silver Bullet, Diego even going as far as to call it his beloved. He's always been good with horses throughout his life, he had a way with them and from there he aspired to become a world-famous jockey (I did say he would do anything, but a jockey, really...). Despite the fact that he was already well-known, he participated in the Steel Ball Run to earn even more accolades and prestige, he saw it as just another step to his plan for some kind of domination over society. The addition of the search for the Saint's Corpse also proved to be a stepping stone for him, trying to collect pieces at first for his own benefit and then as time went on to sell them to the highest bidder; all he asked in return was...uh...all of Manhattan Island? That wasn't too much to ask for, was it?

As a result anyone that gets in his way will incur his wrath, causing him to lash out and let his true, vindictive nature show. If things don't go his way his temper can really flare, leading to verbal attacks, physical attacks, turning people into fossils (???), using his own fans as human shields? He'll lash out in whatever way is convenient for him, using situations to his advantage to move forward. He doesn't seem to be intentionally out to kill people, he doesn't possess a bloodlust, but if they die then they die and it's of little consequence to him. S H R U G. This is a lesson learned by those that have had to work with him, whether by choice or by assignment as part of a deal. He would much rather be in control of a situation and on some level in control of those that he has a need to work with, at one point explicitly stipulating that he wants a subordinate to help him secure more of the corpse parts.

Going hand in hand with his general resentment of people, he could easily be described as completely misanthropic. He considers humanity to be garbage (or more explicitly 'flock of pigeons') and tries to keep a reasonable distance from himself and other people. He would rather not be friends with anyone or to even work along with others but if it's necessary he can be rather cooperative and even a decent ally. As stated previously, though, just make sure that you watch your back because he will take the opportunity to get the upper hand if it's presented to him. He would, however, prefer to work alone.

While his general demeanor seems to be sour, if he's in the right place or feels like things are going his way he becomes rather smug. And if things are looking bleak and he can't work a way out of them right away he does have the potential to be frightened. He is a person in there, after all, just one that is constantly thinking about how to get what he wants. He's intelligent, able to calculate things and come up with precise plans at almost a moments notice; though sometimes it happens through trial and error. He is able to work out how things work, even things as abstract as stands and finds a way to adapt to the circumstances he's given; whether it's adjusting his fighting style or backing off to preserve his own life for another day.

He's a human. That hates humans.

Time of Arrival to Kaisou: Immediate
Items: A riding crop and a false sense of victory.
Retained Ability: Since he’s a Jojo he does have a stand ability but it’s not quite as straight forward most of the others. Part of his ability lets him turn other living creatures into dinosaurs, so powered down I would be happy to limit that to very small creatures like mice. Please let me know if that’s not okay and I’ll be happy to come up with something else!

Note: Hello! I’m sorry I missed activity check! I’ve been dealing with an injury to my arm so i haven’t been on my computer much. My apologies, time got away from me.

Character Name: Luca Paguro
Canon: Luca
Canon Point: After Ciao, Alberto!
History: Here

Personality: Luca is a good kid. He's polite, helpful and friendly and generally wants to do the right thing, but he's also filled with an overwhelming curiosity. He tends to be nervous and anxious, particularly when it comes to breaking the rules he's been taught all his life, but at the same time his desire to see and know the world is enough to get him to push through that fear and go places he's never gone, do things he's never done, all in the pursuit of knowledge.

The best way to draw Luca in is to offer him a chance to learn. It's what drew him in to Alberto initially, though at this point his feelings for Alberto go far beyond that after everything they've gone through together, and it's what drew him in to want to spend more time with Giulia. In the same vein, the best way to push Luca away is to threaten to take a chance to learn away. That's why he ran away from home, because his parents threatened to send him to the Deep where there's nothing to see or do.

Luca is also observant and intelligent. He was able to figure out how the crank went into the gramophone, and even without knowing what money was, when Giulia mentioned that money was the prize for winning the Portorosso Cup, he knew there had to be a way to get other things using money and knew to question her further. When he finds out information he has is incorrect, he's willing to replace his old model for how things work with a new model, like when he discovered that stars weren't fish, he was willing to accept that and eager to learn more about what they actually are.

Time of Arrival to Kaisou: He will be newly arrived in Kaisou, because I doubt he'd take long at all after his arrival to reach out to other people
Items: His school uniform that he's wearing as well as a back pack containing his text books, binders, paper, notes, as well as a few letters from Alberto and his family and pictures drawn by Alberto
Retained Ability: He turns into a sea monster when wet. Due to his form having gills and fins, he will be able to breathe water in this form and can swim faster than a human, but it's nothing beyond what one could reasonably expect from a fish.

Character Name: Tsunayoshi Sawada
Canon: Katekyo Hitman Reborn
Canon History: Katekyou Hitman Reborn started life a Gag Manga

Canon Personality:

When we first meet Tsunayoshi Sawada, he isn't really much. He's clumsy, he's bad at school, he's bad at sports, he's an easy target for bullies. He doesn't have a lot of ambition, he's lazy and he's quick to admit it. If he struggles with something, he gives up. He really only goes to school to see the girl he has a crush on. He's a loser, plain and simple and doesn't really see much future for himself, so why even try really?

This changes with the introduction of his tutor, the hitman Reborn.

Reborn is quick to notice that Tsuna is actually an earnest boy with a lot of potential. He just lacks confidence, and is a magnet for trouble with horrific luck. However, Reborn also decides that the best way for Tsuna to develop that confidence is to toss him into increasingly ridiculous life or death situations, essentially forcing Tsuna to develop the skills he will need as a mafia boss. As a largely down to earth person, Tsuna usually displays comically horrified reactions to Reborn's training methods.

Because of this down to earth nature, Tsuna is often the straight man to his friends' antics. It is a lot of work to prevent explosions, fights, potential assassinations, and provoking school prefect Kyoya Hibari, and most of the time Tsuna is not successful in his endeavours. But not for a lack of trying. And not that he'd trade it for anything, because his friends are extremely precious to him. He cares very deeply for his friends and would do anything to protect them. And as his confidence grows, his friends often look to him as a leader, trusting in his decisions and supporting him as best they can.

Tsuna has a strong sense of intuition, which usually helps him in determining if someone is an enemy or an ally. And even then, Tsuna is quick to sympathize with his enemies, despite previous quarrels. He is also quick to forgive them, and even offer the hand of friendship. Especially if he senses that they weren't necessarily evil in the first place. A second chance is available. However, Tsuna is quick to anger against unjust behaviour, and will stand against those who use their power to subjugate others. But it takes someone truly evil to face the full brunt of Tsuna's wrath.

At the same time, Tsuna can sometimes be too protective, and withhold information in order to keep others safe. This is seen particularly with his civilian friends, such as Kyoko and Haru. He doesn't want them dragged into the world of the mafia and the dangerous battles it holds. It's bad enough that his other friends are dragged into this world as his Guardians, often putting their lives on the line for his sake. He would much prefer to have his normal life, and if he has to fight, it's to protect that life. And not for himself, but for everyone as well.

He does learn that sometimes, sharing the information is the better route, and that he can trust his friends.

Tsuna has a complicated relationship with the mafia and the Vongola. He repeatedly states that he has no desire to be a mafia boss, defining his Guardians as simply his friends. If he can avoid a mafia matter, he will and often tries to get out of anything requiring him to step up as Boss. He goes so far as to state that he would rather destroy the Vongola than take charge of it, especially given its dark and bloody history. But perhaps it is because of that dislike, that Tsuna is best suited to lead. It is often remarked that Tsuna shares a lot of qualities with his ancestor, Vongola Primo, and probably stands the best chance of returning the Vongola to its vigilante roots.

Ultimately, Tsuna is a kind boy with a strong sense of justice. He is the open sky, who accepts everyone freely and fiercely protects his friends and loved ones. It might just take him a little while to get there first.

AU History:
-Tsuna has been living in Kaisou most of his life. He lives with his Mom while his Dad works overseas. He hasn't seen his Dad in several years and is okay with that.
-Tsuna knows about his Dad's mafia connections, and has heard rumblings that he is being considered the heir to the Vongola family. Something about bloodlines? He learned this the last time his Dad was in town, but he doesn't think his Dad knows he knows.
-Tsuna knows about the paranormal happenings in town, and between that and the mafia, resolutely ignores all of it in favour of a normal life.
-We're just gonna ignore the way his eyes turn orange when he's stressed or backed into a corner
-He still sucks at school and regularly skips if he can manage it.
-He can usually be found at his cousin Sora's place if that is the case.

AU Personality Differences:
-Having not met Reborn in this AU, Tsuna is still pretty lazy and lacking ambition, more prone to skipping school and not trying as hard as he could.
-He does try sometimes though
-He has a little bit more confidence though, and probably just needs someone to focus him. But grades and sports are still pretty abysmal.
-Definitely in some denial though. and will look for more logical answers to anything weird that happens around him.

Character Name: Gentaro Yumeno
Canon: Hypnosis Microphone
Canon History: Big spoilers for Hypmic! Since the wiki kind of sucks.
Gentaro's past is shrouded in mystery, but through his solos and dynamics with other characters, there are a few things that are hinted at, if not heavily implied. "Scenario Liar" is the song that gives us the most insight about Gentaro's past, and from his first interaction with Ramuda Amemura, it seems to ring true.

Gentaro is adopted by an elderly couple, who found him abandoned. He describes himself as a foundling, which means he was abandoned by his parents as an infant and found and taken in by others. While they were not well off and seem to actually have been quite poor. While Gentaro did manage to scrape together enough money to attend school, he was ostracized and treated poorly by his schoolmates. Gentaro became withdrawn, but one day someone extended their hand in friendship. While in the song this person is said to be a friend, it's implied that this is in fact a brother.

Some years later, Gentaro is a famous author and well-known; however, it is implied that his name is not actually Gentaro, and that he's taken his brother's identity in order to exact revenge on Chuohku. Ramuda Amemura approaches him to join his rap group. As it turns out, Gentaro has been singled out by Chuohku because he has a manuscript with incriminating evidence that would ruin Chuohku. Thus, Ramuda's approaching him (and Dice Arisugawa) is orchestrated by Chuohku. After forming the group, Fling Posse struggles to work together; they lose their first rap battle. This leads Dice and Ramuda parting ways with Gentaro. Of course... soon enough, they all come together and start to bond--thus, they're able to find their footing, and find success. Various events happen; they lose to Mad Trigger Crew in the first division rap battle; they find themselves wrapped up in a conspiracy involving drugs but in reality was orchestrated by one of Chuohku; and Gentaro and Dice learn that Ramuda is, in fact, a clone. However, they remain by Ramuda's side, and vow to stay there.
Canon Personality: Gentaro is a self-proclaimed liar, and for good reason. It's difficult to tell exactly what Gentaro is thinking at any given time. He often spins tales--fantastical or otherwise--and lies so much that when he is honest, it comes as a surprise. Gentaro's habit of lying started when he was much younger--it stems from his love for his adoptive family and his reluctance to allow them to make them struggle even more. Gentaro's lies are a sort of armor for him; they protect him and make it impossible for him to get close to anyone. Of course, this is rendered moot when he meets Fling Posse, but that's later.

His second lie is, again, when he's young. When approached by a young man who wants to be friends, Gentaro lies that he has no need for friends. In reality, he's scared to get close to people. For Gentaro, loneliness is painful, but being hurt is unbearable. If Gentaro were to let someone in and he were to get hurt, he would certainly close himself off completely. Of course... when it comes to his friend's collapse, Gentaro is there at his side. Underneath the armor of countless lies, Gentaro is, at his heart, caring and compassionate. Gentaro is guarded and a truly tough nut to crack, but when it happens, he's unfailingly loyal and loves deeply. After all, he becomes a writer so he can keep his friend smiling. Gentaro knows his stories and lies are sometimes too fantastical, but still, it's become so ingrained in his personality that he can't not spin, as he calls them, incomprehensible tales. It should be noted that Gentaro's lies are never malicious. Rather, they're meant to tease or help those he's lying to. Ramuda even calls this out in their first meeting, telling Gentaro that while he tells lies for no real reason, "it feels like you're not so much lying as being kind." Conversely, he tells lies--harmless ones, still--to deflect when the situation calls for Gentaro to be vulnerable or open about himself. Again, his lies act as his armor. While Gentaro is a tough read, he's not without his softer sides.

Gentaro, as a writer, is skilled in weaving tales... and teasing people. The target of his teasing is often Dice, who plays into Gentaro's teasing, much to Dice's dismay. Gentaro knows he can usually get an amusing reaction out of Dice, so he often flirts with Dice and pretends like they're a couple... or calls him out on his gambling habits or his idiocy. Gently, of course. Sometimes, Ramuda joins in to torment Dice; Gentaro and Ramuda play off each other well, even when it comes to jokes about, say... selling Dice's organs for money. It's a joke, of course, but it succeeds in terrifying poor Dice. Along with his ability to use his sharp tongue during rap battles or when he's teasing someone, Gentaro is incredibly clever. When challenged by Dice to a game of Cee-lo, in order to win, Gentaro requests a special pair of dice for himself... so that he can cheat and win. Of course, his intent is to teach Dice about his compulsive gambling. Interestingly, for someone who's intensely private and prefers to lock people out, Gentaro has no qualms about sharing a space with Dice and Ramuda.

Gentaro is interesting in that, while he is good at discerning how people should act--to him, at least--as if they are characters on a page, he struggles somewhat when it comes to truly connecting with people. An example of this is when he asks his private investigator to look into Ramuda Amemura--when he reveals this to Ramuda himself, Ramuda becomes scarily angry. Gentaro's reaction to this suggests that Ramuda's reaction comes as a complete shock. Still, he isn't incapable of connecting to people. Fling Posse truly pries open the armor he's so desperate to keep on. The manga is especially telling of Gentaro's feelings toward Dice and Ramuda; there are several panels where, after Ramuda or Dice say something even slightly affectionate, the focus shifts to Gentaro... and usually, he's wearing an especially soft look. Of course, he follows this up with teasing. And in regards to Ramuda again telling him that he hates Gentaro's "excessive prying" into Ramuda's business... Gentaro, after growing closer, counters that he doesn't consider it excessive. Ramuda keeps a huge amount of secrets, and Gentaro worries about him, especially when he knows that something is wrong. A liar knows a liar, after all.

Fling Posse is extremely important to Gentaro's character and his development. Basically, Gentaro is a big softie underneath the layers of trust issues and distaste for letting people in. While his joining the group stems from Ramuda essentially blackmailing him--or suggesting he knows everything about Gentaro--in the end, it turns out to be a very good thing for him. Since Gentaro is such a private person, his solos and the songs he writes are telling. Gentaro is a liar, but his music is honest. In "Calyx," he sings about how he's started to open up. Incidentally, the calyx of a flower are the sepals that protect the fragile bud. Calyx essentially tells of Gentaro's building up walls around himself, but how Fling Posse has helped him to open up. It's subtle, but he sings of "the light pink wind that pulls at the arm"--Ramuda--and "the dice [that] dance"--obviously, Dice. Gentaro cares deeply for his two friends, but he's still not sure how to simply say it out loud outside of the songs he composes. "Stella" is incredibly important to note--it's a song he wrote himself that parallels the groups' experiences and backgrounds. While it is very much a story, it carries incredible weight and meaning. Particularly interesting is the spoken part near the end where Ramuda expresses his disbelief at Dice and Gentaro not leaving him alone. Gentaro and Dice, however, simply accept him and bring Ramuda into their fold. Gentaro writes their relationship to each other as a "mysterious connection, clearly feeling each other's hearts." In the end, Fling Posse is a trio of lonely and unsure people who find connections in each other.

AU History:
- Gentaro grew up in a very northern city before moving to Kaisou; he'd gotten tired of the snow and ice and decided he needed a change of scenery.
- He's an only child, so there's no brother, twin or otherwise. His family has all passed away, leaving him with a considerable fortune.
- He quickly found a job at a bookstore (which is allegedly haunted; this may or may not be true but Gentaro has no qualms about spreading that rumor), as well as a nice but modest apartment and on account of his family's being fairly well-off. He took to writing books under a penname, with his specialty being light novels. He does, however, dabble in other genres, like...
- Crime dramas. Unfortunately, Gentaro has terrible luck combined with a desire to get to the bottom of things he finds suspicious. One of those suspicious things happened to be a crime ring about which he learned too much, and as a result, it painted a target on his back.
- Gentaro ended up looking down the barrel of a gun, which didn't work out well for him at all. While he lay dying in a dingy alley, something took mercy--or maybe pity--upon him and offered a contract. Gentaro didn't want to die so early when he had so much to do still, so he accepted.
- A while later, he formed a friendship with Ramuda Amemura, whom he invited to live with him after getting a bit closer to him. From then on, he's mostly just been vibin'.

AU Personality Differences: Gentaro is a little less cautious when it comes to other people, and a little more reckless (see: getting shot). He more easily lets people in, but he's still fairly cagey about everything.

Element: Light
Purchased Powers:
- Low level healing
- Low level offensive abilities
- Low level illusion creation
Possession: He's possessed by a baku. His contract price is that he's constantly followed around by ghosts that could be vengeful spirits, or gentle souls unable to move on.

Other Characters: Tenn Kujo

Character Name: Ramuda Amemura
Canon: Hypnosis Mic
Canon History: Series synopsis and Ramuda's Wiki.

Canon Personality:
HYPMIC SPOILERS!

Charismatic. Ramuda has a childlike innocence to him that is incredibly staged but endearing to many nevertheless. Most of the Hypnosis Mic cast sees through this and gets more of Ramuda’s less appealing sides, but the general public sees him as a stylish, bubbly individual. He has a knack for getting people to model his clothing for him, too, and has no qualms with using his cutesy demeanor to get what he wants.

Clever. A lot of the events surrounding the creation and downfall of The Dirty Dawg, as well as the formation of Fling Posse, can be attributed to the way Ramuda uses his words. He investigates people thoroughly, whether it be by himself or through asking a third party for information, and uses that knowledge to his advantage. For instance, he had Ichiro dig up information on Gentaro that he used to persuade him to consider making a group with him. It can be said that often times this was because acted under Chuohku’s orders, which is true -- but his wits are ultimately what allowed him to carry out those plans and successfully complete the missions Ichijiku gave to him. He’s manipulative and plays on people’s weaknesses to achieve his goals, which is not a good thing, but it typically is pretty efficient, at least...

Talented. Ramuda is renowned for being a powerful rapper. He was part of TDD, after all, and they're considered legends. His words hit hard and can bring tough opponents to their knees, which is considered a feat in Hypmic. He can improvise and make up lyrics on the fly and make them have meaning. There's a reason why he's the leader of Fling Posse. Aside from that, he's a wonderful fashion designer and can attract models to try on his clothes.

On emotion: Being able to experience human emotions is both Ramuda's greatest strength and his biggest downfall. It's his biggest downfall because it's successfully painted a target on his back; it's his greatest strength because it allows him to care for others and even defy orders from Ichijiku, such as when he chose not to brainwash Jakurai. Part of it could have been a lingering attachment to Jakurai despite their falling out, but another part of it was because he felt like it wouldn't have mattered either way, since Ichijiku essentially told him his life was meaningless in the grand scheme of things. He also has moments in which he feels like things will work out thanks to Dice and Gentaro. While battling his clones that are trying to kill him, Ramuda even reveals in his rap that he sees Dice and Gentaro as his friends.

He tries very hard not to get attached to others, especially Gentaro and Dice, because of his missions from Ichijiku that are essentially his entire purpose for living. However, again, his human side gets the best of him and he naturally starts to love and appreciate them more than he'd like to admit. They're probably the only two people so far in the series that know he's a clone and haven't seen him as being fake.

That being said, he also gets very angry and holds grudges. His grudge against Jakurai stems from Jakurai referring to him as "artificial"; his anger towards Ichijiku is so intense that he'll commonly talk about killing her. At one point, he's so upset at her, Chuohku, and his entire situation that he even says he'll kill all of humanity. It gets...pretty intense.

Secretive... Ramuda is extremely touchy when it comes to people prying into his past. He has a darker side of him -- his "true" personality, in which his voice drops into a lower register -- that usually comes out when he's provoked, stressed, or trying to intimidate someone. It comes out when Gentaro asks him about his history after performing an investigation on him (when said investigation brought up no record whatsoever); Ramuda glowers at him and warns him not to ask him those sorts of questions. Conversations like those "displease him" and he prefers not to reveal his situation to anyone in general. Other than those in Chuohku, Gentaro, Dice, and Jakurai are the only ones who know about his history, though not by choice. Still, he seems to trust the two in Fling Posse with this information since they saved his life and believe him to be the true Ramuda.

That he hasn't done anything to silence Dice or Gentaro is huge, because he had actually put Jakurai's son in a coma because he figured out the truth. (Yeah. It's a lot.)

...and yet, very transparent. That being said, Ramuda is a lot more expressive than he'd like to admit. In the first DRB, Chuohku summons him to task him with brainwashing Jakurai; he is visibly disturbed after this conversation and Gentaro and Dice pick up on it rather easily. Even Jakurai himself notices that something's not quite right with Ramuda. He tries to mask it by putting on a smile; unfortunately for him, his friends are a bit too smart for that. Ramuda likes to think he can mask how he's feeling in times like these, but really? He can't, at least not until it's too late.

On living: Despite the reason behind his creation, despite how Chuohku sees him as disposable, Ramuda really does like being alive. In fact, when he's literally dying due to not having candies to sustain his body, he begs for his life in front of Ichijiku, who denies his request. Ramuda is a mess afterwards and tries to fight for his survival. Not once does he give up on himself; even when he's on his last legs, when his clones attempt to kill Dice and Gentaro, Ramuda uses whatever strength he has left to protect them and subsequently fight with them. Even when the world seems to want him to quit, Ramuda refuses to give up on himself. And he's grateful that he's not the only one who won't, either.

AU History:
  • Born and raised in Kaisou. Ramuda grew interested in fashion from a young age and would often wear outfits that would make him stand out. He got made fun of it sometimes, but he really could've cared less.
  • He was raised by his mom for most of his life, but his mother suddenly passed away in a car accident when he was a senior in high school.
  • Ramuda had been working part-time at a clothing store, so he had some money to sustain himself up until graduation.
  • After graduating high school, Ramuda started working full-time at the clothing store. Ramuda would frequent a bookstore next door to look up photography and fashion books, since he ultimately wanted to study fashion and become a designer. He met a man named Gentaro Yumeno who worked at the bookstore, and the two would chat often enough to where they became buddies. Gentaro learned of Ramuda's situation and offered to let him stay at his place as his roommate; Ramuda accepted.
  • Some time after moving in with Gentaro, Ramuda almost met the same fate as his mother; he wasn't paying attention while crossing the street, and a car ran a red light and hit him, nearly taking his life.
  • While on the brink of death, a fae came to Ramuda and offered to save him in exchange for forming a contract with her. Ramuda, in a desperate attempt to stay alive, agreed to contract with the fae and got away from the incident pretty much unscathed.

AU Personality Differences:
  • Ramuda is still pretty bubbly, but due to being, well, way more human in this AU, he's a lot less resentful and prone to doing bad things...with the exception of his contract price (see below).
  • That being said, he's still got a nasty side to him, and it is pretty damn vindictive. The duality of Ramuda Amemura...
  • He's got more life experience, so he's more knowledgeable on how the world works in general.
  • Ramuda's also easier to befriend; he became Gentaro's friend a lot more quickly than in canon!

Element: Wind
Purchased Powers: The ability to produce lollipops at will (2 points), enhanced speed (1 point)
Possession: Possessed by a fae! Ramumda's contract price is that he has the powerful urge to cause mischief once a month, and must act upon the urge to make it go away.

Other Characters: Raine Whispers

Character Name: Jonathan Sims
Canon: The Magnus Archives
Canon History: Wiki, cw for. Basically a lot of horror. He’s a cthulu horror protag.

Canon Personality: Jon comes across a bit rude, straight to the point, and sometimes downright mean if he especially feels like his time is being wasted. He sometimes gets viewed as a stuffy academic with how he handles statement follow ups and speaks to people. He often gets called out on his shitty attitude to those around him which can cause a stubborn feedback loop. Sometimes he does things simply out of spite to prove a point. Another issue he has on the surface is putting himself in dangerous situations ostensibly to help someone else. While he won't downplay the severity of the situations, he also doesn't focus on his role in them. Jon also has a thing about deflecting, claiming he's fine even when he's not.

Underneath all the bluster and academia, Jon is incredibly kind and empathetic, even moreso as he continues to get to know people. Jon has an instinctive drive to know everything he can, learn as much information as he can about anything and everything, but usually it will focus point on one or two specific topics. He's got pretty intense survivor's guilt, and absolutely no self preservation instinct unless it's something threatening him directly and no one else. He cares deeply about his staff and newer friends as the series progresses. Jon wants so badly to protect them and try to use his horrible eldritch powers for good, often making bad choices with the best of intentions without asking anyone. He constantly enacts plans that only he himself knows and doesn't inform those around him what's going on, even when they're a part of said plan. He'd rather take it on himself than let anyone be in harm's way. Unfortunately, this plays against the fact he's an admitted coward when faced head-on with danger. But he routinely makes impulse decisions based on half-information he hasn't fully pieced together yet. It gets him into a lot of trouble because he's reeeaaaally bad at planning.

All that said, he doesn't like to partake in violence himself. He's not a fighter in the grand scheme of things, and when threatened he panics a bit.

AU History: Most things are playing out similarly to OU. His parents died when he was very young (father from a fall when he was 2, his mother from routine surgery when he was 4). He was taken in and raised by his stern, less than forgiving grandmother. He was bullied routinely and the incident with the weird spider book happened, pushing him into academia to find answers to what happened. (A possession that didn’t quite take.)

His first job with the Magnus Institute as a researcher was all right. Until it started to get… Weird. His own shadows started to react to things differently, pushing his instinctive paranoia into overdrive. He applied for and did not get the recently vacated Head Archivist position. He did receive something else though: a dream of a giant moth with many eyes greeting him and making an offer. The lack of promotion and this dream, in combination with the general weirdness of things he was seeing now, was enough that he left the Institute and came to America. He had intended to do more research about the leylines, his possession, and Zodiac, but instead found himself exhausted. And decided to go a very opposite direction: opening a café. Combined with his affection for cats and strays, and desperate to do something positive, he opened a cat café in the university district. He sleeps in the studio upstairs, and keeps the café open at odd hours for students and tourists visiting, having trivia night for college trivia, and the like. He still does research on the side though, not feeling comfortable stopping after this long.

AU Personality Differences: The main real difference between his canon and AU personality is being surrounded by cats makes him a little softer. Not by much - Jon is still quick and sharp when he needs to be, can still close a conversation as quickly as it begins. But he’s at least a little more open to conversation with strangers. He’s still naturally curious and also paranoid, still willing to put himself in danger even working for forces that clearly do not have his best interest in mind.

Element: Shadow
Purchased Powers: (2) low level shadow manipulation, (1) low level regeneration
Possession: Possessed by Mosura (モスラ), a large monstrous moth. His price is about twice a week, he has to read/hear a statement of someone’s horrifying experience with the supernatural, or witness something supernaturally horrible first hand.

Character Name: Martin K. Blackwood
Canon: The Magnus Archives
Canon Point: Post Series
History: Wiki page here!

Personality:
Martin is a soft nerd in a cosmic horror story that really, really enjoys making its characters suffer. Soft characters don’t live as long as he has, of course, so that means he’s developed (or, in some ways, always had) sharp edges underneath all that delicious marshmallowy goodness. But - softness first. Martin is an incredibly kind and compassionate individual who is devoted to the people around him, often to a fault. That may sound like of those job interview flaws that’s secretly a strength, but no. The phrase “lighting yourself on fire to keep other people warm” is used to describe him and it’s both a) deeply accurate and b) not a compliment. This is a guy who spent most of his life devoted to other people, starting with him dropping out of school at seventeen to care for his ailing mother (who hated him for no fault of his own) and continuing to being the one who cares most for the other characters in the Magnus Archive, particularly Jonathan “Bad-Plans-And-Worse-Consequences” Sims. It stems from a truly abysmal sense of self worth, which is really just a black hole in his heart instead of a functioning and positive sense of self. But he manages to make it manifest as kindness. He’s the sort of person that’s always there with a cup of tea right when you need it; he takes great joy in taking care of people in small ways, even if it’s just asking how they’re doing and whether they’ve gotten enough sleep. (Please get more sleep, Jon, he’s begging you.) He is blisteringly devoted to the people he loves, whether they want him to be or not. Jon in particular is the centre of Martin’s life in a lot of ways, both romatically and platonically. There isn’t much that Martin wouldn’t do for Jon - or anyone else who manages to work their way deeply enough into his life.

But while he reads emotions well, he’s not always good at coping with his own emotions well. Martin is extremely high strung and anxious, which isn’t the best thing to be in a horror story. Eventually he gets to the point where he can just sort of endure the crazy shit happening to him, but he never rises to the level of being happy about it. Oh no. The shouting will continue until morale improves. (The morale never improves.) He’s naturally a very fearful and cautious person, not generally prone to taking risks (although his coworkers do comment on his lack of self preservation instincts). Late in the series, Martin complains about how no one takes him seriously, how the asshole he’s talking to thinks that he’s useless and should just lie down and have a good cry and make tea or whatever. The thing is? That’s honestly pretty true about Martin in some ways. He is the type of person to make tea, and cry, and doesn’t appear to know the least bit about what he’s doing.

The keyword, however, is appear. Martin Blackwood is all of the things I’ve just described: soft, caring, emotional, nervous. But underneath it all Martin is also powerfully stubborn and very clever. This gives him a profoundly manipulative edge that, while not always actively in use, is always potentially present. He uses his bumbling soft edges to hide a sharp intellect that takes in everything he sees and files it away for later. After all, who would you rather confess your secrets to? The kind lad who makes you tea or his grumpy gremlin of a boss?

Time of Arrival to Kaisou: About a week prior to the current day - just enough to have been stalking the AU version of Jon for a lil while.
Items: Nothing but the clothes on his back and a very bloody knife.
Retained Ability: Martin has the tiniest scrap of the Lonely still clinging to him, which fades him out a bit to being unnaturally pale and makes him especially quiet. He can accidentally sneak up on people sometimes.

Endwalker
A short addendum, the important one, she gets possessed during Endwalker and has a voidsent buddy as a result. Don't ask about it, it's probably fine. Her voidsent buddy isn't here.

Can also give her personal history upon request.

Personality:Rose is a very stand-offish person. People meeting her for the first time get the impression that she dislikes most things and most people. While this is true, she does also love to travel and see new places. When asked on the voyage into Gridania why she chose to become an adventurer, her response is to explore the world. She's drawn to scenery of all kinds, but especially nature, which is why she's able to use conjury and white magic.

That being said, as good as her talent for healing magic might be, her demeanor is inescapable. Rose can hold her tongue and restrain herself when she feels it's important, but she ultimately doesn't suffer idiocy very well. If she thinks a plan is stupid or ill-advised, she's likely to call it out as such (such as Yugiri's plan to take down Zenos) and may threaten to withhold her support altogether.

"Threaten" being the key word, because although Rose may be a reluctant hero, she still understands that she's a hero nonetheless. Despite her protests and otherwise strong will, she usually ends up drawn into the conflicts. Even the conflicts she'd rather not be in, she sees through to the best of her abilities. For example, when the Scions and Alliance moved to liberate Ala Mhigo, she didn't view it as her battle, but ultimately chose to participate anyway.

She views her role as the Warrior of Light in a very pragmatic sense. When she first set out for Eorzea, she just wanted to travel, not to be a hero, but her battle with Ifrit made her realize that she didn't have much choice in the matter. Rose is the type of person who would sacrifice herself for her loved ones in a heartbeat, but wouldn't go out of the way to help someone she doesn't know. Despite this, she continues to fight primals and put herself at risk, just because she understands how high the stakes are. If nobody does anything, it might be the end of the world as they know it, and that means the end of those she cares about. Rose is very intelligent. She's aware of the enemies she's making, and she's aware that her stint as the Warrior of Light is likely to end in her death.

Because she's the Warrior of Light, her reputation often proceeds her, and this causes her no shortage of frustration. Before coming to Eorzea, she already had a off-setting personality, and used biting sarcasm as her main means of communication. Her time as the Warrior of Light has only intensified her prickliness, and many who meet her for the first time are shocked to realize that the "shining beacon of hope" for Eorzea is really just an angry red cat lady. Anybody who looks closer will realize that while part of this anger is just her personality, part of it is born out of exhaustion.

It's important to note that, while Rose is exhausted, she isn't miserable. Rose isn't the hero people make her out to be, but she doesn't feel guilty about it, either. Hydaelyn placed on her a task that was too great for one person to perform. She didn't ask to be a hero, and so when she comes off as angry or bitter, despite being the "Savior of Eorzea," she doesn't pay it much mind (except that one time she made some MoL soldiers cry before the Naadam, that did make her feel a little bad).

Her angry and bitter expression turns away a lot of people, but Rose feels lucky to have the friends, family, and allies that she does. And though there are a lot of times where the scions leave her more frustrated, she does count them as some of her dearest friends. As a Keeper of the Moon, her clan and in-group are very important to her, and she considers Ishgard to be a "second clan," so to speak. They took her in when she was at her lowest, and treated her as one of their own, and that forever earned them her gratitude. Despite her reluctance to fight most battles or primals, she didn't hesitate to go into the Vault or fight Nidhogg because it was personal.

Around those she trusts, she often lets a softer side of her personality show. Her humor is still very dry and sarcastic, but there's noticeably less of an edge to her words when she's around people she likes. She's also more likely to smile, laugh, and show genuine enjoyment when around those she cares about.

All of this together, she comes off as being very strong, but she has her moments of weakness, too. She's accepted that she's probably going to die as the Warrior of Light, but she's still very much afraid to. She's also afraid that because of her role as the Warrior of Light, the people she cares about may be hurt. Rose doesn't hesitate to show positive emotions around those she likes, but she has a habit of hiding negative emotions from everyone, even those she trusts most. When she feels excessively sad or afraid, she often goes off alone, usually finding solace in nature, and in Menphina's guidance. For example, after arriving at Camp Dragonhead in the wake of Nanamo's "assassination," Rose spent the night alone in the Coerthas highlands, trying to fight her guilt and trying to ease her fears at what would come next.

Nature is something very important to her, and while Conjurer (and eventually White Mage) was not her first choice of job, it's one she fits easily into. Her natural affinity with nature allows her to commune with the spirits more easily, which helps her have better control over her magic. And while she won't go out of her way to help someone, she's not opposed to helping people either, and she's happy to use her healing magic for whatever good she can.

Time of Arrival to Kaisou: Immediate!
Items: 1 Scythe (She can't actually use it as a weapon, but it's fine. It can channel healing magic).
1 Set of Traveling Clothes
1 Hairpiece, you know the one.
Retained Ability: Basic healing magic? Nothing fancy.

Fae | Ruggie Bucchi | OU

Player Name: Fae
Contact: Smoke signals (or like. Plurk and Discord
Invited by: MYSELF
Other Characters: August Villareal and Rhel Fashonti

Character Name: Ruggie Bucchi
Canon: Twisted Wonderland
Canon Point: End of Chapter 5 (which is currently still JPN only, but translations are available and he's only in it for a short time anyway)
History: Wiki but it's largely useless SO the tldr is as follows:

Ruggie Bucchi is a seventeen-year-old second year at Night Raven College, one of the best magical academies in Twisted Wonderland. Born in the Sunset Savannah, he was raised by his grandmother in pretty abject poverty. But they managed and survived and Ruggie was accepted into NRC where he almost instantly wound up the unofficial vice housewarden of Savannaclaw (aka the big scary jock house based on The Lion King) because the housewarden is a lazy prince. By the time of his canon point, Ruggie has:

-agreed to help Leona wreck everyone else's chances at the big sports game in October by using his signature spell to cause Many Accidents (we'll get to that)
-drank a potion to amplify the effects of said spell to cause The Stampede to try and trample their biggest opponent (this failed due to Yuu)
-nearly got turned to sand when Leona began to overblot and lashed out
-beat the shit out of Leona to get him to Stop That
-got roped into helping Yuu break the (highly sketchy) contracts half the student body had with Azul Ashengrotto along with Leona
-had winter break
-was on stage crew duty for the big arts festival in the spring term

And that's it!

Personality: -hard working! so many part time jobs
-loyal! Leona doesn't pay him but still Ruggie works for him and tries to get him to attend classes
-snarky! Leona thought his (rather terrible) childhood home was a dog house. Ruggie has not let him forget this and will never let him forget this, despite Leona being the second prince of his homeland
-tricksy! he works hard but like. if he can he sees no issues with taking a short cut or cheating
-frugal! he grew up in pretty awful poverty and despite being a magic user can survive in the wild without any use of magic whatsoever
-family-oriented! when he's going home for winter break, he takes bags of food home from the school that would go bad before the break was over, all so he could give it to folks in his neighborhood

Time of Arrival to Kaisou: Right now!
Items: -His pen and the gold gem within it. This is both a pen and something necessary for all magicians, as the gem siphons off blot (magical exhaust, basically), which can cause Problems if not properly managed
-his wallet. empty but like. that's his wallet

Retained Ability: Laugh With Me, his signature spell. This allows him to control someone's movements for a short time--he uses it in canon specifically to cause people to have a lot of "accidents" by making them miss a step and fall down stairs, drop things, and under the effects of an amplification potion cause The Stampede by making everyone start to run. He also uses it to force Grim to swap his sandwich for Ruggie's hot dog bun. For the sake of nerfing the shit out of this spell, I was thinking "anyone aware that he is attempting to use it/decently strong-willed can just no-sell it" and "Ruggie must be within two feet of his target" (in canon it doesn't seem to have that specific of a range). (Also naturally it'd be permission based since. Yeah.

Kouichi Kimura | Digimon Frontier | OU

[personal profile] flybroken 2022-05-14 09:52 pm (UTC)(link)
Player Name: Aru
Contact: PM, Discord
Invited by: N/a
Other Characters: Miyako Inoue, Hiccup Haddock III

Character Name: Kouichi Kimura
Canon: Digimon Frontier
Canon Point: In the final battle against Lucemon as he decides to sacrifice himself for the others.
History: Here

Personality: Kouichi is a young boy who has a kind heart, but still has a sense of lingering darkness within it. He learned he had a twin brother when his grandmother passed away and went to find him — Learning that his mother struggled everyday while his father remarried and his younger brother led a happier, better life led him to some initial resentment. He tries to push it aside and ignore it so as not to trouble his mother, often choosing to pretend he's okay behind a smile.

This would lead his feelings to fester and grow so that when he made his accidental trip into the Digital World, Cherubimon was able to easily brainwash him to his side as Kouichi was very unhappy with the situation. Some of it boils down to he just wanted to meet his brother and thought he couldn't — The Digital World pits them against each other and it's only in the verge of killing his brother that Kouichi is able to reclaim himself.

A naturally reserved boy, Kouichi separates himself from the group because he's guilty but also not sure how to handle finally meeting his brother (and in such a horrible way). These two things are important, because it shows he still has difficulty with handling things and despite loving Kouji deeply is uncertain of his standing; Kouichi questions his place and role throughout the story, it's in part why he sacrifices himself at the end.

He's not a cruel boy by any means — later in the series he decides he wants to help people and manages to get into one of the toughest medical schools in the country. He's easy to share smiles and hides most of his troubles behind them, but is seen encouraging others (in particular his brother). He's quick to defend and understand a situation and has shown, in the end, to have no qualms making tough decisions to protect those he loves.

Time of Arrival to Kaisou: Shortly after acceptance
Items: D-Tector Digivice
Retained Ability: As the Digivice functioning is an ability in itself, Kouichi will simply be able to see that it's working at first. (He will eventually regain the ability to evolve into Lowemon and Kaiserlowemon, with each separate ability coming with time. Duskmon/Velgemon are alternate versions of the former mentioned ones and only apply if he falls to darkness again — all other possible evolutions shown on his wikia page are not seen in Frontier and thus will not apply).

- Noting the D-Tector's powers are simply allowing the humans to digivolve into digimon, being able to detect spirit totems, and digitizing defeated digimon. Digitizing won't apply to anything in game and the spirit totems is how they evolve into Digimon and thus are being regained!

Catalina | Tangled | Normal AU

Player Name: Dante
Contact: [plurk.com profile] teenysanguini
Invited by: Myself
Other Characters: Mirabel, Napstablook, Mewtwo

Character Name: Catalina
Canon: Tangled
Canon History: Here

Canon Personality:

The first thing that's noticeable about Catalina is that she's much quieter than her sister. There are a lot of times where she lets her sister do the talking, preferring to go along with her without saying much of anything. This especially makes her feel like kind of a pushover, something she struggles with until season three.

She has a more carefree spirit than that of her sister. When Kiera wants them to move back to Corona where they have stable shelter, food, and basic necessaries because that's what's "better for them", Catalina prefers to live in their self-made treehouse in the woods. When they're shrunk down into a shell and the possibility comes up that they may never escape, her response is to claim the first couch she sees and relax.

She is a very cunning girl and a thief, having stolen from lots of people and for a long time, has evaded being caught. She knows various tricks to escape from being locked up or tied up, and can handle herself pretty well on her own. She's rescued herself plenty of times, like when she and her sister are tricked by thieves into thinking that they're their parents. Rapunzel and Eugene go back to rescue them, but the girls already tied up the thieves and dealt with the problem themselves.

Catalina also has a bit of a temper on her. She gets frustrated when people don't hear or listen to her, and that anger boils inside of her. It's what made her take on the Wolf's Curse, which transformed her into a werewolf. She was tired of not being heard, and the Wolf's Curse promised her that she would be. She learns to deal with that anger, and even starts opening up more. She becomes more talkative and more willing to voice her opinions.

She also has a dark sense of humor. She finds a bird skull in the shrunken down shell that she, Rapunzel, Kiera, and Varian are trapped in. She uses it as a puppet, making puns and talking to it. She's also a bit impatient with other people, such as the race she and Pete took part in. As Pete was trying to figure out how to cross a large gap, she almost immediately ditched him. She's also a mischief-maker. She has a history as a thief, but there are moments where she just likes to stir up a bit of trouble. Such as encouraging Lance to tamper with Varian's machine that ends up setting off a large explosion.

But overall, she's very caring and willing to help others - especially if they're people she likes and trusts. She helps Rapunzel with whatever she needs, whether it's rescuing Varian, returning stolen treasure to put her thieving days behind her, rebuilding the kingdom, or helping save it. Towards the end, she becomes very passionate towards saving Corona from destruction, willingly charging into battle alongside everyone else to defend it.

AU History:

-Catalina grew up never knowing her real family
-She's been through several families, but nothing ever sticks
-She's been juggled around in the foster care system
-She's still a thief, has been caught a few times and it's lead to her butting heads with her adoptive families
-Currently, she's been adopted by two moms - a very sweet couple who wants a daughter badly
-Goes to school, but is probably in trouble a lot

AU Personality Differences: The big thing about Catalina is that she's far more mistrusting of adults, believing that no adult truly cares about her and that even her current adopted family will abandon her once they find out what a difficult child she is. She also is more outspoken, a little more like her sister Kiera and a little more sassy.

Character Name: Yoosung Kim
Canon: Mystic Messenger
Canon History: https://mystic-messenger.fandom.com/wiki/Yoosung

Canon Personality:
- sweet/affectionate
- extremely gullible/naive
- emotional, a little unstable
- very obedient
- a little lazy, but he tries
- rarely holds a grudge, unless the death of a loved one is involved
- easily motivated by others but has a difficult time motivating himself
- enjoys escapism and games/narratives that make him strong and heroic
- tendency to idolize those who are very nice to him and pay him a lot of attention
- can be possessive, even to the point of obsession if those tendencies are encouraged and leaned into
- can also be an outright hero, and willing to face danger and sacrifice to help others
- is hinted at being a masochist, though he doesn't realize that or really even know what it means, but he kind of gets a kick out of being called a puppy or a kitty

AU History: An ordinary home life. He doesn't consider himself the favorite child of his parents because they didn't pay him a lot of attention compared to his two siblings (older brother, younger sister, Yoosung is the middle child) growing up, always maintained average or below average grades. He is in sophomore year of college and lives on his own with money from his parents, who are well off enough to afford it and even let him indulge in his gaming hobby/addiction though occasionally encourage him to learn enough cooking to cook for himself and enough cleaning to keep his place clean.

AU Personality Differences: The only thing really notable probably is the lack of Rika, his cousin whom he idolized. Instead he's only had idols in the form of actual distant celebrities, and otherwise has had regular friends who have come and gone. He's not involved in any volunteer/charity organization like the RFA but he does on occasion volunteer informally, and especially enjoys helping animals/pets and pet owners.

Canon Personality: ⚫ Lazy--Demyx hates work and tries to avoid it, often complaining about having to do anything that requires effort. He'd rather just play music all day long. And if he can dump work on someone else he will.
⚫ Laid Back--Demyx is pretty casual and laid back. He doesn't really get worked up about things and is pretty go with the flow.
⚫ Cowardly--He would rather run from a fight when he can. He hates fighting as much as he hates working.
⚫ Goofy--He's kind of a silly guy with a good sense of humor. Tends to be the butt of the joke.

AU History: Demyx grew up in Kaisou. He's a high-school dropout and took to trying to make a career as a youtube cover artist. He's achieved moderate success with this, but he still has to work a normal job to make ends meet. He's a cashier at a clothing store right now. But he's kind of bad at sticking with jobs.

AU Personality Differences: Since he has a heart in this AU, he has actual emotions. And he never joined up with the Organization. So he gets to live the lazy life he wants to. As such he's friendlier and more cheerful. Otherwise pretty similar.

Player Name: Maggie
Contact: [plurk.com profile] roseburst
Invited by: Me, myself, and I
Other Characters: Minato & Izuku

Character Name: Kashuu Kiyomitsu
Canon: Touken Ranbu (Hanamaru)
Canon History: yes

Canon Personality:
Reliable. While Kashuu definitely doesn't like getting dirty or chipping nails and while he does try to stay away from difficult emotional confrontations for the most part (he does not succeed in general) he's actually an exceedingly reliable person. He'll complain about things, sure, but he never actually shies away from hard work in terms of actually shirking it. He's been at his version of the Citadel since the very beginning as the first sword there and always accepts the responsibility of showing newbies around and looking out for them without more than a token complaint. The other swords also do tend to rely on him for certain things, and Kashuu has yet to fail to live up to their expectations of him. Kashuu also pays attention to other people (despite seeming very self-focused) and is always willing to offer up his assistance. Sure, sometimes he's just press-ganged into helping out, but he usually won't turn the other swords down when they truly need him for something (he will occasionally say no to shenanigans but he usually gets dragged in anyway so why does he bother)! Kashuu cares about his friends a lot, even though he's maybe halfway allergic to actually talking about his emotions without something forcing him to do so (he gets better about it but still isn't as straightforward as he could be).

Carefree. While Kashuu can be genuinely serious he comes off as a more carefree sort of guy. He's fussy about his clothes and nails, yes, and fishes for compliments...but he's also genuinely friendly with the other swords for the most part. Aside from some snark and the occasional burst of temper when someone messes up his appearance, he's got a habit of going with their flow - or being dragged along into their paces, at least. He's actually pretty easy for all the other swords to get along with, only rarely allowing them to see his uglier sides and never really interested in starting up any huge conflict on his own behalf. The most he'll do on his own is occasionally challenge people for sparring. He doesn't seem to have any real enemies in the Citadel and seems to be on good or decent terms with pretty much everyone, which isn't the case for every sword.

Vain. He's laser focused on the concept of being cute/beautiful and being praised for it. He equates looking good with being loved, and Kashuu's past - being born to poverty, being abandoned after he broke as a sword, etc. - gives him a lot of issues with the concept of being abandoned, replaced, or broken. He seems to believe that if he looks cute enough and takes good enough care of himself he can ward that off from ever happening again, because his master and other people will love him if he looks lovely enough and because of that they won't abandon him. It's not true of course, but it isn't something he's grown out of yet. Kashuu can let certain amounts of dirt slide in battle, but he's never happy about it.

Insecure. See the reasons for the above vanity. Kashuu is insecure about his appearance despite acting superior about it, but he's mostly insecure about the events of his past. He has had time to try to come to terms with what happened with Souji in the past, but even so the ghosts of the past seem to loom large for him especially when he is left to his own devices alone or when he perceives himself as being pushed off to the side. This is because due to his insecurities he is prone to jealousy. In particular it pops up when he feels like someone else is stronger/more cute/being loved more by their master. Kashuu doesn't exactly confront the people he is jealous of, usually, but he does brood about it alone and has been known to run off to do so. He doesn't seem to be capable of taking it on faith that he will not be pushed aside and replaced by other people, even with the character development he's gotten so far. He's not as bad as some people could be about it - he doesn't take out his jealousy on other people, for example - but it's definitely a problem he has that pops up time and again.
AU History: Kashuu grew up in town! He's always been fussy about his appearance, and a fairly decent student. Graduated high school without fuss and is currently rolling around university interested in a fashion minor and a business major. He's thinking he'd like to own some kind of store someday, or at least go into managing one? It's not super defined. He has a nail art and makeup focused youtube channel, though he doesn't consider it a career so much as a hobby.

AU Personality Differences: He's Actually Human, so he's less baffled by human things. Also has way less issues about being abandoned/wanting to be loved, since he grew up fairly normally and had built in family companionship for the most part. Somewhat less willing to straight up murder people because he's not a sword who Does That...

Canon Personality:
~ snarky/tease: only true in KH1, where he teases Sora about his crush on Kairi and they both compete for her affection, but he hands her off at the end with "Take care of her"
~ At the start of Dream Drop, he has to prove himself worthy of the keyblade so he agrees to Yen Sid's mark of mastery exam. He doesn't think he's worthy after giving into the dark, but he earns the mark "keyblade master" at the end of the game
~ Riku's quick on the uptake of things, where Sora is a bit slower.
~ loyal: He saves Sora 5 billion a few times throughout the series.
~ brave, protective, strong willed
~ Self doubting, hard on himself, over working
~ He doesn't like talking about the past, he feels a lot of guilt over it, giving into the dark is the big one here
~ He's trying to be a better person all around, do right by his friends, be the master he is.
~ He's hard on himself
~ Kind hearted and socially awkward

AU History: Riku's best friends with Sora of course! While he supports Sora in his twitch streaming career, he doesn't see it as something as long term. Riku himself is in college and just came back from an internship over the winter/spring. Riku is taking classes in IT-related courses and knows his way around technical stuff. He also holds down a part time job. He's living comfortably in a studio apartment.

Zagreus | Hades | OU

[personal profile] aspectsofblood 2022-06-01 06:18 pm (UTC)(link)
Player Name: Bookie
Contact: plurk @ bookworm12890
Invited by: I live here now
Other Characters: G'raha

Character Name: Zagreus
Canon: Hades
Canon Point: Post-game
History: Here
To elaborate slightly more on his motivation since the wiki doesn't go much into it: Zagreus is the son of Hades and Persephone, and was stillborn. In her grief, Persephone left the Underworld behind. Unknown to her, Nyx was able to revive Zagreus and he grew up believing her to be his mother. When he discovered otherwise, he was upset at Nyx and his father for keeping the truth of him, though only Nyx admitted that she was wrong to deceive him and made contact with his relatives on Olympus to aid his escape from the Underworld so he could find his mother. The Olympians believe him to be trying to reach them and do not know that Persephone is his mother or where she is.

Personality: So a previous app I did had the 4 traits sort of model, but I think the elaboration I put in here captures most of his character sooooo?

Rebellious: The motto of the Underworld is "There is no escape;" the mere fact that Zagreus is steadfastly trying to prove that wrong is probably plenty of testament to this trait. Zagreus has spent most of his life feeling like he didn't belong and had no neat place to fit in in the House of Hades, and so has turned to trying to create his own path and meaning by whatever means necessary. He is near constantly defying any and every rule his father has in place, finding ways around them with the help of others or just using his own resources and skills. He is actively insolent to Hades and they trade barbs near every time they talk to each other, just fueling Zagreus's continued attempts to escape and be free of his father's domain.

Stubborn: Trying to escape the Underworld is a fool's errand, even with the aid of the Olympians; it has a well earned reputation that no one can rob it of its inhabitants. However, Zagreus got it into his head that he was going to get out and find his mother and damnit, he was going to do it. Even though it is pointed out to him multiple times that there are some people whose lives (?) he was making considerably harder by doing so, he kept at it. Even after making it to the surface and discovering that he died after just a short while up there each time didn't stop him from breaking out and doing it again. There is relatively little that Zagreus wants to put his mind to, but when he does, he does not give up for anything.

Resentful: To say Zagreus's relationship with his father is uncomfortable would be an understatement. Not only is Zagreus something a reminder of his mother to Hades, the god also believes his son to be lazy and foolish. Zagreus has never been able to manage any of the more bureaucratic aspects of working in the House, disappointing any expectations his father had that his heir might actually be able to take over some duties. As a result, Hades often belittled Zagreus, scolding him for his (perceived and real) failings, and generally treated him like a nuisance more than a son. Combined with the fact that he lied to Zagreus for years about his mother and the circumstances of his birth more generally, Zagreus is very resentful of his father and pretty much everything he stands for. He actively defies him pretty much every chance he gets, and is often very bitter when talking to or about him. This becomes a bit eased after Persephone's return, but it is... definitely a work in progress. (They're both trying really hard, ok.)

Kind Achilles mentions in his codex when talking about Zagreus that the gods are not generally known for their kindess, but Zagreus treats him and most of the people around him like friends and companions, even when they are in vastly different stations. Zagreus is not just friendly and willing to talk to and befriend just about anyone, but he also actively uses his position to try and help those he cares about do what he can to make their lives easier, even if it earns him his father's ire. He cares deeply about everyone who works in the House and, including people his father and Nyx thinks should be 'beneath him,' and those confined in various parts of the Underworld that he has met. Much of the effort he makes on anything other than his primary goal is to help them, and he does so without any expectation of reward, just wanting them to be happy.
