THIS IS AN OLD POST. IF YOU WISH TO SEE THE CURRENT APP PAGE, PLEASE GO HERE.

Okay so application is a very strong word and not entirely accurate, but it's a term we all know so bear with me. This is the page where you officially submit your character information for the game! Apps will not really be judged on its contents but more making sure everything fits into the setting of the game. If you want more information on the setting, please check out the FAQ!

To see the previous app page, you can find it here.

How do I join the game?
This app page is currently open! Apps can be submitted by players at anytime. Apps are reviewed by the mod on the first and third weekend of the month, ending at 6pm EST on Sundays (so if you submit an app at 9pm on Sunday it won't get read until the following relevant weekend). Please check the calendar to see when apps will be processed next.

To join the game, you'll require an invite from another player. Players can invite up to 2 people per month. To invite someone, have the person apping list the name of the person inviting them, and then the inviter should comment to their app confirming the invite. Apps that do not have a invitation confirmation will not be looked at by the mods. If a confirmation does not come within two app processing weekends of the app's submission, it'll be automatically rejected.

A new player must be in the game one full month from their app acceptance date before they can invite another player (meaning if their app was approved on September 18th, they can invite people starting October 18th). This is so the new player has a chance to get acclimated to the game and community enough to assist any friends they later invite to the game.

Players who were in the game but who dropped/were swept will not need an invite to rejoin the game for up to one month after their drop date. After that month, they will require an invite to rejoin.

Once you submit your app, you'll get a welcome comment confirming that everything is a-okay. Sometimes revisions will be requested if there is a need to fix with power purchases or possessions.

Is there a player/cast cap?
There are a couple caps! The first cap ia an overall player cap. Kaisou allows a total of 75 players. Should we ever reach cap, apps will close until openings become available.

The second cap is on the number of players with an OU (original universe) character. To make sure OU characters do not dominate the game, there is a current limit of 35 OU players. At the start of each month, we will make sure there are at least 2 OU player slots open so new players get a chance to app an OU. Finally, to keep one cast from dominating the limited OU slots, there is an OU cast cap of 6 OU characters per cast. There's no cap on AUs from the canon at this time, just OUs!

PLAYER SLOTS: 33/75 filled.
OU PLAYER SLOTS: 14/35 filled.

Casts near or at Cap:
Final Fantasy XIV - 4/6, NEAR CAP

What kind of characters do you allow?
Most things! Canon characters, Original characters, CRAU, AU characters - the list goes on. Double characters are also allowed so long as the doubles are notably different from one another (examples: MCU Peter Parker and Into the Spider-verse Peter Parker would be fine as they are two clearly different interpretations of the character. Alternatively, a canon version of a character and an AU version of the same character would be fine as long as the AU causes a notable difference in the character). Customizable protagonists and characters from canons with different story routes are allowed, and any characters with differing story routes would be considered AUs from one another.

The only requirement for a character is that they do require a consistent canon history. This is because many of the plot events and mechanics deal with memories and connections to their previous life (or current life if an OU). If you wish to app a mascot character that doesn't have a specific canon background (a vocalid, clippy, the trix rabbit, etc) - you are welcome to write an OC that's inspired by the character with a clear established background to work from. Characters who have multiple canon iterations (like Link from Legend of Zelda or Sonic the Hedgehog) will need to pick a single iteration to pull their canon background from. Characters must also have been properly introduced (not just a quick cameo) in their canon for at least one month at the time of apping.

How many characters can I play at a time?
You can play up to four active characters at a time! Only two of these characters are allowed to be Original Universe and there is an overall OU player cap as mentioned above. As of September 2023, you may only play 2 characters from the same canon.

How frequently can I submit an app?
There is no time restraint on the first two characters you app. If you join the game with the intent of playing two characters, you can app them both immediately or wait it out! However after you app your second character, you will require to wait one month between each new character app (so if you app your second character on March 2nd, you will need to wait until April 2nd to app a third character). This wait time applies even if you drop a character.

What type of characters can I play in this setting?
At this time, brand new players have the option of choosing between Normal AU, Paranormal AU, and Original Universe. Players who have been in the game at least 3 months also get the option of apping characters from the Black Order or POKEGO factions. Details for each category are below:

Normal Modern AUs
Normals AU are exactly what it says on the tin: they're normal people. These characters have lived entirely normal lives on modern day Earth. Up until the day they joined the Libra app (aka when they join the game), they've been completely oblivious to anything strange about the world. Even if something paranormal-related did happen to them, their memories remember it as a more mundane event (for example if they got attacked by a monster, they'll remember it as a dog attack) - and it's only once they join the app may they remember how those events occurred. For the most part, their AU backstory should consist of things that could reasonably happen in a modern day Earth setting.

Upon acceptance, Normal AUs will be allowed to pick two free regains (canon regain or an elemental power) that can be worth up to 3 points each. These regains will ICly come into effect after they join the game.

Paranormal Modern AUs
Paranormal AU characters are characters who also grew up in modern day Earth, but have experienced supernatural occurrences throughout their lives. Their experiences with the supernatural can vary wildly as long as it fits into the setting of Kaisou. Maybe they've been raised by a family aware of the supernatural, or they started as normal people and ended up crossing paths with the paranormal at some point in their lives. They may even be involved with a player-run faction (aka any faction that's not Zodiac, Black Order or POKEGO), or a new faction that you made up yourself!

These characters will get 6 extra points to be spent on elemental powers (aka Kaisou original powers) they obtained during their AU backstory. These points cannot be used for canon regains (though you are welcomed to purchase elemental powers that are similar to their canon powers, or pick something entirely new!). These points can be used for monster traits, but you need to include some explanation for why they are a monster (were they cursed? An experiment? Are their parent a monsterfucker?) and they will need to be at least half-human.

Paranormal characters can also be possessed. You can read more information about on the possesion info page.

Original Universe
Original Universe characters hail from their original world and find themselves arriving into this world through the Spirit Realm. They will not lose any memories of their canon lives, and are allowed to have any items that they could reasonably carry on their persons upon arrival without any enchantments (in other words, no cheating with a mary poppins bag). If they were carrying a magical bag, the bag will split open in the Spirit Realm and all the contents will come spilling out on the ground, forcing your character to grab only what they can carry.

Power wise, OUs can do one of the following options for their retained options. Feel free to consult the regain page for clarity on the point values.
  • 3 abilities that have the power equivalent of a 1-point regain (very low level power)
  • 2 abilities that have the power equivalent of a 2-point regain (medium level power)
  • 1 ability that has the power equivalent of a 3-point regain (advanced level power)

Retained abilities can apply to any magical items they have with them EXCEPT for anything that'd increase their inventory or would be considered otherwise gamebreaking. Any other abilities or items that don't have their powers retained will be completely depowered and will require regain points to gain back.

Black Order/POKEGO AU
PLEASE NOTE: Due to this character type requiring a thorough understanding of the game setting, this option is only available for players who have been in Kaisou for at least 3 months

As of April 2023, players are limited to only have ONE character from each faction at a time (meaning you can have one Black Order member and one POKEGO character, but not more than one in each faction)
.

Black Order/POKEGO characters are AU characters who started either as Normal or Paranormal AU characters. However, unlike the other AU types who only begin regaining canon memories once they join the game, these characters began remembering their past lives and regaining canon abilities at an earlier point in their life - usually after a traumatic or high stress incident. Sometime shortly after they began remembering their past lives, they were approached by one of two factions:

THE BLACK ORDER: A secretive group devoted to protecting and preserving the Spirit Realm, particularly any realms that are considered sacred, by dispatching agents known as "Guardians" to manage supernatural incidents of note. While it varies from member to member, the Black Order aren't exactly known for being a chill group. Some Guardians join willingly while others were "strongly persuaded" to join. While you don't need to be religious to be part of the Black Order nor does it adhere to a particular religion, it is said to be funded by numerous religious denominations around the world. Thanks to that, Black Order Guardians will enjoy free housing (within reason, no mansions) and a comfortable salary to live on - though some may get a daytime job/go to school to keep up a persona. The Black Order itself is run by a mysterious council of leaders, who give orders to their Guardians to fulfill. Thanks to the constant unusual activity in Kaisou, they have decided to send members to Kaisou and join the app in order to investigate what's going on.

POKEGO: A group devoted to the research and understanding of the Spirit Realm. All in all, they tend to be less hardcore than the Black Order and all members join willingly, though sometimes it's by means as a way to avoid joining the Black Order. POKEGO is less structured than the Black Order, with the group actually being made up of several different cohorts that focus on different areas of study related to the Spirit Realm (such as flora, fauna, gate locations, gods, etc etc). For a long time they held a positive reputation in paranormal circles, but that recently took a serious hit thanks to Professor Willow and his faction's deeds. Thanks to that, a lot of sponsors (including Zodiac) have pulled out and funding has really dried up. This means POKEGO researchers will have to find their own housing and find ways to make ends meet (in other words, you're broke). These days, the remaining members of POKEGO are working towards rebuilding their organization and repairing the bridges that have been burned.

Characters apped will either be in the role of Black Order Guardian or POKEGO Researcher that's been sent to Kaisou to help investigate the situation, and will join the Libra app in the spirit of cooperation with Zodiac (and to keep an eye on everyone). It's up to you if the character had already lived in Kaisou for some time, or is completely new in town. While both of these groups are made up of people who remember their past lives, before the events of Kaisou it was well understood among these group that regaining past memories was an extremely rare occurrence (like 1 in a few million rare), that memories of their past lives were to be kept hush-hush from outsiders - and anyone who refused to comply with the rules would have their past memories erased and powers sealed. So some may not be entirely sure how to feel about these Zodiac app users that have a lot less rules to follow. Typically POKEGO/Black Order characters should be at least 16 years of age. If you wish to app a younger one, they will be considered a trainee and special accommodations will need to be made (aka you need to talk to the mod about it).

Due to their special situations, Black Order/POKEGO characters can start with 16 regain points for their pre-purchased powers (versus the 6 that paranormal AU get). These regain points can be used for both Kaisou elemental powers AND canon regains. Black Order/POKEGO characters may also be possessed, which works the same way as Paranormal AUs.

As of April 2023, POKEGO characters will be allowed 1 free pokemon that's up to horse size (and isn't a legendary) upon apping. This Pokemon will be completely depowered, but for 1 point you can unlock up to 4 of the abilities that are available for the Pokemon at Level 1 in the games. Any abilities beyond that would cost the same rates as if those abilities were on a player character. Additional pokemon would cost the same rate as a magical animal companion (aka based on size and they'd start with their level 1 abilities).

FINALLY, PLEASE BE AWARE THAT DUE TO THEIR FACTION'S REPUTATION, BLACK ORDER AND POKEGO CHARACTERS (ESPECIALLY POKEGO) ARE LIKELY TO HAVE A GOOD DEAL OF NEGATIVE CR FROM OTHER CHARACTERS EARLY ON. Please be prepared to deal with this should you choose to app from these factions. Even if your character is a nice person, they will likely have to work extra hard to gain the trust of those around them.

Character Name: Larry
Canon: Pokemon Scarlet/Violet
Canon Point: After post-game
Birthday: January 5th
History: wiki page

Personality:
-Extremely cynical, and is very open and blunt about this aspect of himself. It’s to the point that he tells a kid that life isn’t all about “being true to himself”.
-Hard working, works three jobs and doesn’t exactly complain about it beyond saying “unfortunately, I work here too”. While it seems as though he dreads having to work so much, he is resigned to the fact that this was his life and didn’t have any real say in it
-Is extremely talented, but seems to show zero passion in it. It’s clear that he’s a good Pokemon trainer for Geeta, the top champion, to have him both a gym leader and elite four member, even though it’s implied that they mutually don’t like each other. However it’s clear he hasn’t have much joy in battling in a long time.
-Generally keeps his emotions to himself, presumably due to his cynicism. He considers a facade his signature move, both for his Pokemon and for himself, and it's clear that he thinks that the only way to make it through life is to try to keep his head down and do the work assigned to him. This is also likely why he has not turned down any of his jobs despite clearly being overworked.
-Has opened up to Florian/Juliana, however, about how he needs to work on regaining passion in his life, and that he can take a break from work every now and again. It will likely be slow going for him to regain his passion for life, however, as he just realized this after likely decades of being emotionally dead

Time of Arrival to Kaisou: (they can arrive anytime up to a year before the start of the game aka January 2021. If they've been around awhile, what have they been up to? Additionally, OU characters will arrive through a labyrinth that will reflect the character's mental space or a significant place in their lives. If you have a specific idea of how you'd like this labyrinth to manifest, suggest it here! Otherwise the mod will come up with a labyrinth based on your app. )
Items: - Wallet (contains IDs, some Pokedollars, and pictures of his pokemon)
Retained Ability: His Komala, with her powers returned. This gives her the moves of
-Yawn
-Sucker Punch
-Wood Hammer
-Zen Headbutt

Character Name: Morpheus, Dream of the Endless
Canon: Sandman (Netflix)
Canon History: https://sandman.fandom.com/wiki/Dream_(Netflix)

Canon Personality:
- Arrogant/Proud - Morpheus has the nasty habit of looking down upon the mortals he attends to the dreams of. He's learned to respect them more than he used to, but he still sees himself as their superior, as something greater and more important than they are.

- Aloof - Even among people he likes, he tends to have a hard time letting people in. It's easier to run something like the Dreaming if he holds a level of detachment...or so he thinks.

- Temperamental - Angering him is risky at best and dangerous at worse - for a man who tries to keep a cold guiding hand on the Dreaming, he is notorious for swift and often excessive retribution should he be crossed.

- Artistic - Every dream, every nightmare, every scene in the sleeping minds of mortals has been crafted by the Dream Lord's hand. He takes great pride in his work, sculpting from the fabric of unreality beautiful and terrible things.

- Serious - Sense of humor? What's that? Any laughs you get out of Dream are dry to say the least. He comes off often as dour and moody, so devoted to his work that he cannot see the forest for the trees.

- Strange - I mean...have you ever had a dream that made you wake up and wonder why you dreamt it at all? He did that. It made sense to him. He's not bound by human concepts of what is odd and what isn't.

AU Name: Morpheus "Dream" Dante
AU Birthday: October 21st

AU History:

Ever since Morpheus was a kid, he has been plagued by vivid dreams and even more vivid nightmares. It was clear from infancy that there was Something Not Quite Right about the extent to which the child seemed to recall the dreaming hours, but his parents elected not to make much of it unless it got dangerous somehow. After all, they were only dreams, and not even lucid ones at that.

When the dreams were good, it was fun for the little boy...but when they weren't? He got good at keeping himself awake from a young age. Developed a taste for strong black coffee.

He grew in a fair home, despite the strangeness of his night hours - sibling rivalries, too much daydreaming at school, a common enough story. As a teenager, he stopped telling people of his dreams, realizing how they made him sound. Art became his outlet where he had no other - a way to try and process the immense and strange things that would come to him in his sleep. And he was GOOD at it. Amazing how fast you can progress in a skill when you forfeit social interaction for the sake of it.

Soon enough, he was out of school and on his own, getting an apartment in midtown, a job as a library assistant, working towards the day he could be doing art professionally. He's always been aware that there are strange things in the world...after all, with the things he dreams of being as vivid as they are, how could he discount strange things glimpsed between distant bookshelves in the silence? (Besides - trying to find answers about his dreams in the dustier, more esoteric segments of the library was...enlightening.)

His art career was slow to start, his work being deemed often too esoteric to have a market. It proved hard, balancing work with art with how dreadfully difficult it often was for him to sleep properly. He found a little success selling some of his sculptures, but restlessness continued to sing through him. It wasn't enough. He needed to be doing more.

One night, during a serious bout of insomnia, he decided to try to take a drive to clear his head. While out, his lack of sleep caught up with him, and he dozed off behind the wheel. It would have been enough to kill him, the car a twisted cage of glass and steel around his body...if a raven hadn't landed upon the wreckage, offering him a choice.

Miraculously, he survived the accident, and began to create more art than ever before. Since then, he has gained some popularity - under his moniker "Dream" - for his dark, surreal paintings and sculptures, moving into a better studio apartment and doing the occasional art show. The income has been enough that working at the library is more of a sideline, just something to keep stability between galleries.

But the question is...how much of his art now is because he wants to create these pieces, and how much is because he has no choice?

AU Personality Differences:

- Tortured - Having to create art in the service of the demon who saved his life has him ragged - not only are the nightmares terrible to have to revisit for long enough to depict them, but the sheer creative energy it requires rakes him over the coals. It doesn't matter if he's sick, if he's burnt out...he HAS to work. Or else.

- Awkward - Being glued to one's work doesn't make for the most social graces. While canon Morpheus isn't necessarily always the most pleasant, he does carry himself with poise - but this human Morpheus lacks that regality, and tends to spend a lot of time at his own gallery shows hiding in a dark corner nursing a glass of punch.

Element: Shadow
Purchased Powers: General - 3 Points - Basic conversations with animals
General - 3 Points - High Level Telepathy

Possession: Morpheus is possessed by the Goetic Demon Marquis Naberius, an entity with ties to the arts, and to reclaiming or destroying honor. The price of being with the power of this demon is that he must create a piece of art from the things he sees in his nightmares at least once every three days. This art must be up to Naberius's exacting standards, and at least three hours must be spent working each piece.

Character Name: Kanade Yoisaki
Canon: Project Sekai
Canon Point: post-Mirage of Lights event
Birthday: February 10th
History: Kanade @ Prosekai wiki

Personality: Kanade is a deeply troubled, traumatized girl who nevertheless is extremely kind and compassionate and does her best to help others.

At first glance, Kanade might come off to some as cold or distant; she doesn't often talk more than she has to, and her face is usually a mask of neutrality. When she does show any kind of expression, it's very muted. This, however, isn't because of any kind of stoic or cold attitude - quite the opposite, in fact. Kanade is surprisingly friendly to anyone she meets; she treats her housekeeper, Honami Mochizuki, more like a friend than someone paid to clean for her, asking her for help or advice on more than one occasion. She'll give away a copy of a rare CD from an artist she admires if it's the last one, purely because the girl next to her seems to want it as much as she does. No, it's not stoicism that holds Kanade back from expressing herself. Really, it's just... pure awkwardness. Kanade has spent the past two years alone in her own home, with most of her social contact being online or with the previously mentioned Honami. She's not used to dealing with people or many social situations, and in the rare times when she's outside not running errands, she'll let her friends take charge on what to do.

Tied into this is a deep sense of compassion as well. Kanade is endlessly supportive of her friends, and is a stalwort rock of support for them. Though she knows more often than not the answer is "i don't know", she often asks Mafuyu how she feels or what she might want when they're working on songs, or if they're out as a group. The answer is almost always the same, but she's still determined to give Mafuyu that choice, something she isn't given in other aspects of her life. She's incredibly encouraging of Ena's art as well; she knows that it's one of her friend's biggest insecurities, and she does her best to point out things she likes about all of Ena's pieces. They're not empty words, either! Kanade truly enjoys Ena's work. She's even encouraging of people she just met, like complimenting Ichika's lyric writing even after only reading one draft of one song. Kanade truly cares, deeply and earnestly, and knowing that others are happy is enough to make her happy.

Kanade's shut-in tendencies are, sadly, rooted in deep trauma. Kanade is a profoundly hurting girl, struggling with depression and most likely some level of PTSD from seeing her father collapse from the stress of his job. As a musician, Kanade's father loved to make music that made people happy. Kanade greatly admired him, and took after him in many ways because of this. She developed a deep love and talent for music, even at a young age, and her father would often say she was "loved by music" in return. But her father struggled greatly with keeping up with the current music trends and the demands of his clients, and after many months of stress and fatigue building up, he collapsed and was hospitalized - and has been for over two years now. Kanade completely blames herself for this; she thinks her father struggled so badly because her own musical talents surpassed his, and thus it was her fault that he had to work so hard. She sank into a terribly deep depression after that, and became obsessed with the idea of "saving others" with her music; her father wanted her to keep composing to make others happy, but this twisted around in Kanade's mind to the point where she views it as a curse. She now believes that composing music to save others is the only way to "atone" for her sin, and for two years now, it's more or less her only reason for living.

This is starting to change, though. Kanade still believes she's to blame for what happened to her father, and she still views herself as cursed, but her priorities are beginning to shift. After meeting Mafuyu Asahina, a girl who believes she's "cursed" just as Kanade is, who's as lost and hurting as Kanade feels, she realizes she wants to save her. And while that is still her major goal, she's slowly realizing that it's not just because of her own complex that she's writing songs for Mafuyu. As much as she wants to help Mafuyu find herself, she's also writing songs because she genuinely wants to see Mafuyu smile, to see her happy. It's a much more tangible goal, one that she doesn't have to destroy her mental and physical health over, and she's slowly but surely started to take steps forward into bettering herself so she can continue to help others.

Time of Arrival to Kaisou: Immediately on acceptance
Items: Her cellphone (a totally normal phone, mostly loaded with music)
Retained Abilities: n/a; she has the same ability to enter an alternate world as Mafuyu, but as that was completely nerfed upon Mafuyu's arrival, it'll be completely nerfed for Kanade as well.

Character Name: Crito
Canon: Original character
Canon History: Once upon a time, there was a lonely goddess. She'd lost the love of her life, and found herself alone in an empty world. Seeking a cure for her heartbreak, she began to make a bird out of clay - but she mis-sculpted and made a person instead. She named this person Crito, and she granted them a blessing to traverse the lands between the living and dead. From iron she forged a small railway leading to the other side and gave them a job: bring in wayward souls - ones destined neither for heaven or hell - to this empty world so she wouldn't be lonely anymore.

Crito took this job to heart and became a psychopomp for stray souls, hoping that one day - through their efforts - they would be able to see Mother smile. However, she soon became distant, and they found themselves in the company of only the dead. Where Crito started out passionate and earnest, they soon became more jaded and irreverent once they realised that Mother cared only for the dead - still doing their job, but with the vibe of a burnt out customer service worker.

Canon Personality:

- Crito, only ever socialising with the dead or their Mother, isn't so familiar with interacting with other people and therefore ignores some of the expectations of social conduct; talking over people, being painfully direct at times, acting on first thought/impulse rather than according to etiquette.
- They can be flippant and irreverent, generally not showing much respect for most and taking little seriously.
- They're dedicated to their duties, however, and take that seriously at least.
- They're playful with others and try to find fun where they can - sometimes at other peoples' expense.
- Despite everything, they have deep and unshakable loyalty to their Mother.
- By way of their upbringing, and having so little meaningful connections with others, they're quite lonely inside.
- Easily bored.
- Detatched from the living/humanity, and jealous of the dead's favour with Mother.

AU Name: Crito Galanis
AU Birthday: 5th April

AU History:
- Crito is an orphan, adopted by Eurynome Galanis as an infant.
- Eurynome's family line is one well versed with magic, involving themselves in matters of ghosts and echoes and taking care of spirits.
- Crito is raised learning magic after discovering they have an aptitude for it. Eurynome raises them to be a "shepherd" for lost souls, guiding echoes and ghosts to rest or keeping them outside of where they can cause harm. Crito does not get much socialisation with anyone else during this time.
- At 21, Eurynome leaves Crito with only the request that they continue to carry out this task for her.
- Wanting to make her happy even in her absence, Crito devotes themselves entirely to this job.
- As a front, however, they sell model trains.

AU Personality Differences: They're less detatched from humanity/the living, now counting themselves as technically part of that number, but they do still see a divide between themselves and most other people. They harbor less jealousy towards others as they are less isolated and there is less favour from their mother towards the dead, but still, they do feel a twinge towards those who don't hang out with dead people constantly. They haven't quite reached the stage of burnout yet, either.

Element: Wind
Purchased Powers:

- General: Detect if something/someone is magic and general information on element-type and strength (2pts)

Character Name: Flat Escardos
Canon: Fate/strange fake
Canon History: here

Canon Personality:
Happy-Go-Lucky: Flat is a character that can, undoubtedly, be considered to be "happy-go-lucky". He's someone that always has a genuine smile on his face. Unlike most Magi in the Clock Tower, he seems to lack any and all forms of seriousness. Even while in the middle of the Holy Grail War, his top priority is to make friends with all of the Masters and Servants--aka, his enemies. It's this friendly attitude that seems to attract people towards him, as they realize that he truly does not have a single bad bone in his body. He's someone that tends to wear his heart on his sleeve, putting his feelings and intentions out there with little to nothing underneath it.

Lacking motivation: Unlike most other Magi in the society, something that Flat seems to greatly lack is a drive to do things. Instead, Flat is someone that drifts from interest to interest, absorbing information about all that surrounds him before moving on to the next shiny thing. For the biggest part of the war he didn't even care about obtaining the Grail or even getting a wish from it. He's happy enough with just seeing it, as long as he's able to make some friends along the way.

Amoral: His morals do not line up with human morals at all, and his world view is far removed from both Magi and normal humans alike. As his parents describe it, it's as if the telescope they had been looking through had actually been a cannon this entire time. He shows that he's capable of murder, even, but does not because he considers that a "waste".

Loyal: Flat is extremely loyal to his professor, Waver Velvet, and the classroom that he teaches. This is due to how Waver influenced his life, by saving him when Flat was in his darkest moment. This loyalty influences Flat's normally amoral personality, as he has tried to adapt Waver's moral compass as his own, and won't do things that he thinks would disappoint Waver.

AU Name: Technically N/A. "Flat" is his nickname in canon, so it's his nickname here.
AU Birthday: 12/1

AU History:
  • A boy is born to the Escardos family, a Monegasque family that is currently headed entrepreneurs who founded and run various businesses in Europe, ranging from solar energy to cruise tourism companies.

  • Living in Monaco, his parents laud him as a genius. All developmental milestones are reached earlier than expected, and his parents pour their efforts and wishes into his growth, trying to mold him into their future heir. Etiquette classes, language classes, private tutors-- you name it, and he went through it. The child was never allowed to have his own interests or wishes, as he is simply a vessel, filled with hopes for the family.

  • As the child grows, at eight years old, his personality begins to show through the cracks, along with some things that they can't comprehend. The boy talks to the thin air and claims to see things that they can't. Though they take him to a plethora of doctors across the European continent, no one can pinpoint what is wrong with their son, until one of them does: Your child can sense and interact with the supernatural.

  • The Escardos' do not accept this. They shun the boy that they had, until just recently, rejoiced over, and claim that he's sick and wrong. Simultaneously, things go wrong among their many companies. The sales fall and their stocks crash, their profits turning to dust. The reasoning is clear— if the supernatural is real, then this child of theirs is a bad omen. Feeling their terror, the boy grows scared of his own power, but he has no idea how to make it stop.

  • Ready to rid themselves of their cursed child, the Escardos couple send him away. They send him to a boarding school countries far away, where the supposed curse would not be able to reach them. In months, the child is kicked out due to behavioral issues— disrespectful and dangerous, they say. They send him to another one, and the same thing occurs. When they send him to the third one, it's almost not surprising for either the parents or the boy when he gets kicked out for the third time.

  • The boy tries to mend his ways in the fourth school, but finds himself falling into the same patterns each time. To compensate for the differences between how he and the others see the world, he acts out in class, gaining the notoriety of a class clown and a troublemaker. He realizes that there is no way to make his ability stop, and that the most he can do is pretend and copy that which he sees. He takes inspiration from movies, manga, and anime to create the persona that will scare/intimidate others the least; he becomes a slacker and a goof and tells no one about his powers. In doing so, however he makes himself miserable and grows to resent what he sees, because it's the reason that he's in this situation in the first place. His grades dip as he sees himself falling into a depression, but there's no one there to catch him as he continues navigating his school life into secondary school.

  • At 16, his family goes bankrupt, but they use a good chunk of their remaining money to ensure that their son stays the fuck away from them, by sending him to Kaisou City where he finishes his studies. Though the boy— now a young man— appears to be energetic and the life of the party, he is in fact mostly apathetic and simply coasting without purpose. Once he graduates high school, his scores are too low to go to college, nor does he have anything that he really wishes to do as a career. It's only on the Internet that he finds some solace, and he ends up finding interest in talking about pop culture with other people. On the Internet, he names himself "Flat", and slowly gains popularity with others. Popularity among forums and chat servers gives him the confidence to be bold and try out...game streaming! And it's successful!

  • "Flat" Escardos becomes a rather popular video game streamer. He streams every day to a rather wide audience of teenagers and young adults, charmed by his eccentric, comical personality and variety in content that he brings to his streams. He streams mostly games, but will also talk about Internet culture, rare movies, television shows— you name it, he'll talk about it. At 19, Flat has almost fully adopted his Internet persona as his own and become a successful streamer, making a good chunk of his revenue from it. The other seems to be from whatever random commissions he can get and is interested in. He codes, he draws, he mixes music— whatever you want and he finds interesting, he'll do it.

  • Through his internet deep dives, he finds more about the moonlit world. And though he has hardly any contact with his parents , but Flat still feels estranged among normal people due to his differences and unable to connect with the magical world because of his isolation from it for years.

AU Personality Differences:
  • Apathetic: Flat is far more apathetic than his original canon self, due to years of having to pretend to be someone and something that he isn't. His true emotions have been muted under years and years of having to suffuse them in order to act like a more normal person. It's been a long time since he has given someone a genuine, heartfelt smile or laughed a real laugh.

  • Distant: Having been unable to connect with either side of the world, both normal and paranormal, he's far more distant and impersonal with other people. He has his streamer persona when he wants to talk to people he doesn't know, and he has many people that he's acquainted to, but it's rare for him to actually form an emotional connection with anyone.

Character Name: Jusis Albarea
Canon: Trails of Cold Steel
Canon History: CS1, CS2, CS3, CS4, Jusis

Canon Personality: 🐎 Looks like a tsundere, talks like a kuudere

🐎 Jusis is usually a pretty calm and chill dude...when not around Machias, admittedly. That being said, he can come off as very cold and anti-social.

🐎 He's very soft around horses and children. His real friends will also get to see that soft side of his more often.

🐎 Jusis is very loyal to anyone who earns his trust and friendship. Being born in a noble family, he's had to learn that people will try to befriend him for the benefits of having a Great Noble friend, so he keeps people at arm's length.

🐎 He's literally ride or die for Class VII and just about nothing will sway him from them.

🐎 His relationship with his family is, in a word, complicated. In several words, it's a complicated mess of emotions ranging from neglect to emotional manipulation, usually from his father. He thought his older brother was super cool until Rufus betrayed him for the Chancellor seemingly without hesitation, and that completely rocked his entire world in CS2.

🐎 He's very proud of being a noble, but absolutely despises those who abuse their position and their people. Jusis views this as very short-sighted, and believes that nobles need to conduct themselves as protectors of the people they have responsibility over.

🐎 Fighting is a form of flirting, just ask Machias and Rean.

AU Name: N/A
AU Birthday: January 20th (Headcanon)
Faction: The Black Order

AU History: Jusis was born to a single mother who worked at her brother's restaurant in a small town in Dusseldorf, Germany. It was a struggle sometimes, but he would look back on those days very fondly. They lived close to the restaurant, so Jusis would bring books to read there while his mom worked. The other staff would visit him at times and kept an eye on him. Jusis even had a few friends he could hang out with when his mom knew she'd be working longer than normal. By the time he started middle school, he thought he had a pretty good life.

Until it wasn't. In the middle of the school year, he and his mom were visited at their apartment by a couple of people in suits. His mom seemed resigned, but put on a brave face for her son and allowed them to escort the pair to a car with tinted windows. They were brought to the airport where a private jet was waiting for them. Jusis hadn't been sure what to think of it all at the time, and his mom didn't really know how to explain it to him. In the end, she told him that they were going to meet his father in Berlin, but she didn't know why.

The first time he ever met his father was in his office at the top floor of Kreuzen Corp. His father, Helmut Albarea, was the CEO. Jusis would never forget how his father barely even looked at him before having Rufus, apparently his older half-brother, entertain "the brat" while "the adults talked." Rufus, at least, was good enough with children that Jusis took an almost immediate shine to him. That would be very important for him, as his mom broke the news hours later that they would be living with Helmut from now on as a family. Rufus was there to help coach him in how to present himself to the public, at least enough so that his first public appearance on international television wasn't a disaster. He was able to smile convincingly enough for the camera, even if all he wanted was to go home and pretend that he wasn't a major corporation's CEO's son.

His 'debut' to the world alongside his mom was all a show to bring more positive press, as well as to silence some rumors that had been circulating around that time. A fact Jusis would never know about until high school. He kept his distance from kids his age as he transferred into a new private school, especially when he very quickly found out that the majority only wanted to be his friend because of who his father was. Jusis's loneliness was something he ignored in favor of doing as well as he could in his classes, and avoiding any 'social events.' About the only thing he genuinely loved was the equestrian club he joined. He learned how to take care of horses, tack, how to ride for sport and for leisure. His father hadn't cared in the slightest, but his mom and half-brother encouraged him to keep up with it since he enjoyed it so much.

It was during the summer of his junior year of high school that his world was once again shaken to its foundation. Since professing an interest in pursuing law like Rufus, he was allowed to shadow his older brother and learn from observation. On one such day, Helmut came down to have Jusis follow him for the day, as there was something he was required to learn in order to work for Kreuzen. On that day, he learned that the supernatural was real, tangible, and his father was... using (read: abusing) it to either strike down the competition or simply to further his personal goals. It didn't matter if it was animals or people. If it could give him an advantage, he'd use it until it was no longer useful. One of them was a kid around his age, being kept as leverage over some sort of opponent of Helmut's. Jusis wasn't entirely certain. All he could honestly remember was going back to his room numbly, and having a breakdown that resulted in reliving a memory that felt like his, but also didn't. A memory of another boy his age being held in a cell, and helping to break him out with a group of other teens his age and escape.

After that day, Jusis withdrew into himself and applied himself even more to his studies. Whether the memory was real or not, he couldn't stand the thought that his father was not only getting away with it, but his brother seemed to be either ignorant of what he was protecting with the law or aiding and abetting it. He didn't want to think about the latter, so he didn't. Jusis sent out applications to prestigious law schools both in Germany and abroad during his senior year, though it worried his mom and brother with how hard he was working himself. While on winter break, he overheard his brother and father discussing their more covert business, and how they wanted to start working with some group called Krusnik. Jusis didn't stay long enough, though, since there was too high of a risk of getting caught to hear more. Still, it broke his heart to learn that Rufus was in some way condoning what their father was doing. Another memory broke through that day, when someone disturbingly like his older brother betrayed him and aided in burning down a small town in a mountain region. To help clear his head, he left home and went for a walk in Berlin.

During that walk, he was approached by someone with features he couldn't remember. At first, Jusis thought they were completely nuts when they started talking about how they know that he was starting to remember his past life. They promised him that the next time something strange happened, they would be back with an offer that he couldn't refuse. Understandably creeped out by the whole encounter, Jusis took himself back home in a roundabout way in order to hopefully throw anyone off his trail. Whatever those weirdos were, he didn't want them anywhere near his mom.

As it happened, near the end of the school year, another strange thing did occur to Jusis. When he came home from school one day, he found a sword in his room. On asking his mom about it, she told him that he'd always had that sword, which he most certainly never did. He had no idea how to use the thing, but it felt familiar in his hand regardless. Not long after graduation, he was approached once more by a shady person. They weren't taking no for an answer this time. Either Jusis joined The Black Order and lend his power to help their cause, or he was their enemy and no better than his father. Reluctantly, bitterly, he agreed to join the Order.

Out of pure spite, and in a desperate attempt to get as far from his father's side of the family as humanly possible, Jusis decided to study abroad. He managed to convince his father that it would be for their best interest to have him go to their branch in the USA. Since Rufus was set to inherit the business, it only made sense to have Jusis study elsewhere and have a finger on the pulse across the pond. Helmut agreed, and he immediately applied, and was accepted into, Duke University. Jusis was able to convince his mom to move with him, since he had no plans on returning home and he knew that his mom was absolutely miserable here. After some time thinking about it, she agreed. Fortunately and unfortunately, Helmut didn't really care where she went so long as she remained married to him. So, she would stay in one of the Albarea vacation homes.

Jusis devoted himself wholly to studying law with the intent to become a prosecuting attorney. After six, long, grueling years of blood, sweat, and tears, he graduated with honors and passed the bar exam. He began working at a police force as part of a firm unaffiliated with the Albareas, but he swiftly found out that he had to be just as careful with who he befriended here as he did back in Berlin. Some tried to persuade him to neglect key evidence or holes in their case in order to get a conviction. Some even tried to use bribery to sway him to their way of thinking. Most of the work he did was good enough to offset the bad, but Jusis couldn't help coming away jaded and a little disheartened. Still, with this as his persona, he was able to use The Black Order's funding to help get his mom more financially independent so that she could get a home all of her own. At the same time, more weird, supernatural things occurred to him and a few more memories of the friends he wished he had were remembered.

He was around 29 when the Order approached him about a new job. One where certain strange incidents kept occurring in a town called Kaisou. They wanted him there to keep an eye on things and report back his findings. Jusis couldn't really say no, so he agreed and sent in his two weeks notice to the firm, and then applied to the prosecutions office in Kaisou.

AU Personality Differences: 🦄 His mom being his only real support in a massive hellhole that is the Albarea family has helped tremendously in keeping himself from being too bitter. He'll move planets for her if she asked.

🦄 Jusis is still very unsure of his brother's stance. He holds onto the hope that Rufus is simply going along with it until he replaces Helmut. His feelings for his brother are complicated as a result, but he knows he still loves his big brother.

🦄 He's a lot more tired, that's for darn sure.

🦄 Taking a break is for people with healthier coping habits and friends.

🦄 He has a burning hatred for his father. Calls him father to his face and in the public eye, but Helmut when he's safely in private.

🦄 Where Jusis in canon believes that nobles should be more than what they are, this version of Jusis has a more intimate and long-term view into what victims have to go through in the criminal justice system, so he says eat the rich I'm tired.

🦄 That crippling loneliness when he was a teen in Cold Steel 1 is now even worse as an adult! He just ignores it even more.

🦄 Though he now believes that the memories he's remembering are real, he still has moments of doubt and sometimes thinks he's finally cracked from the pressure he's under.

Character Name: Ann Takamaki
Canon: Persona 5 Royal
Canon History: Please read both Persona 5 and Persona 5 Royal

Canon Personality:
- Kind and compassionate; willing to forgive people if they seem appropriately penitent. She’s also the mediator of the Thieves, keeping the members from fighting with each other (looking at you Ryuji and Morgana...)
- Good judge of character; being able to see through people’s masks (haha...ha)
- Hard on people who are cowards or self destructive (including herself)
- Lively and energetic (after becoming a Phantom Thief)
- Prefers honesty over sympathy
- Can be scornful and cruel at times… kinda takes pissing her off a lot (see leaving Kamoshida alive so he can suffer and be remorseful)
- Not book smart (good at English, not much else… but she’s bilingual)
- Confidant about her body/physical appearance, but gets embarrassed when she’s forced into a situation where she’s exposed without consent or wanting to.
- Hates people valuing her for just her body and nothing else

AU Name: Ann Takamaki

AU Birthday: November 12

AU History: Up until Kamoshida, Ann’s life is the same. When Shiho attempts to commit suicide during his time at the school, Ann’s mental health takes a big dip. Her parents end up sending her to the west coast of the US to complete high school and possibly college. Since she was bilingual and had experience living abroad. They did send her to live with family members (aunt and uncle) so she wasn’t completely on her own.

She doesn’t become a Phantom Thief, she only sees the hype online because it’s connected to her hold school. Panther just… doesn’t exist for her. No Carmen, no nothing. Because her parents sent her across the ocean to get away, she never really had a chance to get to know the Protagonist. Just as the guy who sat behind her for a while who had a bad reputation from being on probation. He was definitely nice to her though.

She got a job modeling during breaks between school sessions, and finds herself traveling across the US for different shoots. That’s how she ends up near the city for her to be pulled in.

AU Personality Differences: There aren’t many personality differences, as she’s still Ann. But, she tends to play her cards close to her chest. After what happened with Shiho, she got shipping off to another country and had to start all over. So, she’s a bit shyer, and a bit more introverted until people get to know her. Unless she’s working, but that’s a different side of her because that’s what models do, right? It’s just a mask…

She’s trying to study harder and get better grades even if she has a modeling career ahead of her. She’s not Makoto smart, but a bit more book smart than her canon counterpart. Outside of that, she sticks to herself, so that she doesn’t end up dealing with something like Shiho again. Other than those changes, she’s a lot like canon Ann.

- wise, by which I mean he's a big nerd who still has actual street smarts
- has zero hesitation to help people, even if it means going into danger with only a stick and healing spells to defend himself with
- has a measure of seer powers and has no qualms making major decisions based on them

AU Name: Minwu Nasir
AU Birthday: July 29th

AU History: To begin with, Minwu had a fairly unremarkable upbringing, at least relatively speaking. A child in a family of academics is still expected to wind up a scholar eventually, long tradition of being at least somewhat magical or no, and Minwu was of no mind to disappoint.

...Of course, when you have a curious child that surprisingly is equally as fond of the outdoors as staying in with a book and has very little of the common sense he'd grow to have in adulthood, inevitably, a few near-death experiences are bound to happen. After the first incident (a relatively minor thing where he slipped down a hill), he started getting flashes of precognition, almost as if the world trying preventative measures to keep him from pre-emptively biting it.

It only marginally worked until one winter he ignored that feeling at the insistence of several other kids, and he and they fell through the ice they assured him had been thick enough to skate on yesterday. He survived thanks to the ability to breathe underwater kicking in. Everyone else survived as well, if with longer term effects, but the incident taught Minwu two things: 1) that he wants to learn medicine so he can do more in similar situations, and 2) never again ignore the pull of what he came to consider destiny.

Fast forward a decade and change, and Minwu'd managed to gain a healthy amount of common sense, a degree in nursing, minor healing powers after another small series of emergencies, and a reputation for being reliable if a little odd at any place he’s worked. People tend to notice when you’re not super great at hiding the ability to see the future, after all, even if normal folks mostly brush it off. Thanks to a vacancy opening up due to Kaisou High’s last school nurse deciding the unexplained long night was the last straw and a sense that destiny was pulling him in that direction, he has now taken up residence in Kaisou.

AU Personality Differences: - Somewhat amusingly, the echoes of memory from his past life of royals that were actually good people has lead him to lean harder into “eat the rich” than he would have otherwise.
- Understands memes.
- The likelihood of being willing to sacrifice himself for a cause has gone down since he has living family.
- Constantly carries at least a first aid kit with him because his healing powers are weak.

Purchased Powers:

Diluc Ragnvindr | Genshin Impact | Normal AU

[personal profile] burntilldawn 2023-01-13 06:51 pm (UTC)(link)
Player Name: Bon
Contact: DM or Bon#5666
Invited by: I go here
Other Characters: Takame Kesi

Character Name: Diluc Ragnvindr
Canon: Genshin Impact
Canon History: Here!

Canon Personality: - Closed off. Diluc keeps his cards close to his chest and dislikes discussing his past or much beyond a surface level of himself. He’s the very definition of a closed book, and it’s one that has five types of locks on it just to open the cover.

- Jaded. This is a stark contrast from who he used to be when he was younger, a wide-eyed idealist who sought to be a knight of the highest caliber to make his father proud and protect his home. Diluc still loves his home, he would still do anything and everything to keep it safe and take out anyone who dared to threaten it before the very idea of danger sparked in their mind. But his world view being destroyed and the knights being revealed as corrupt has irreversibly changed his perception of them and thus of his world. He finds them to be unreliable and generally useless with a few exceptions.

- Serious. Diluc has no tolerance for fools and if he believes you to be intentionally wasting his time, he won’t hesitate to let you know it and when you're being annoying or prying too much into his business he also will be glad to inform you. He’s a prickly man with a bit of a temper, though rarely is he openly explosive. You don't want to see when it does become explosive.

- Massive trust issues. Between the Knights and Kaeya’s bad timing of revealing his past so soon after Crepus’ death, Diluc is slow to warm and even slower to trust. It’s climbing Dragonspine to earn this man’s trust but once you have you’ve earned it for life. That said he still does prefer to have control of his fate in his own two hands and dislikes relying on anyone else, but will if he must.

- He says he’s let go of the past. He has not. He 100% has not, and the proof is in said trust issues and even more his world view. Diluc faces the world clean with not a single smudge on his frame when his feelings on the past cling to the underside of his boot like stepping on gum in the parking lot. That was chewed on by a giant. Twice over.

- Validation from his father was infrequent and only seemed to happen, unbeknownst or unacknowledged by him, when Diluc fulfilled one of his older desires. Like receiving a vision. Deep in his heart it’s something he still wants.

- Kind and Noble. Diluc is a grump to be sure and has little patience for nonsense but at his core he’s still kind hearted. His anger stems from a deep devotion and love for his people and the few that he chooses to trust. His love for Mondstadt is endless after all. Honestly, Diluc is very much a perfect gentleman. Polite and cordial and he’s not above apologizing for when he makes mistakes or comes off as insulting where unwarranted. There is a reason he’s an eligible Mondstadt bachelor after all.

- Modest. Diluc isn’t exactly someone who relishes in the fame and wealth he’s acquired. He acknowledges it sure but he’s not immune to hard work (in a way prefers it even, paperwork aside) and he’s not a spoiled prince or entitled king. He gets his hands dirty.

- Extra. This is the kind of guy who says that criminals use the wind to hide their crimes and wonders if rain could cleanse the sins of evil and means it without a shred of irony. These are casual conversation quotes.

AU Name: N/A
AU Birthday: April 30 (Canon)

AU History: Diluc’s backstory is, for the most part, the same as canon though with some key differences. He was still born into wealth through a multi-million dollar wine industry. Crepus Ragnvindr still raised him with high standards, somewhat pushing his desires and ideals onto the young, spry and idealistic Diluc who liked the idea of becoming a hero rather than the industry he was born into, but he didn't resent the industry either. It as his father's, and it was important. One of his few defiant acts was sneaking out with his closest friend to get some comic books and was a particular fan of Batman even though he didn’t fully understand him at the time. Just thought that Batman was cool! Deep down that love for comic books never really faded even in his adulthood.

He still sought approval from every angle from his father and idolized him greatly, but one day they were both mugged by an organized crime faction and left for dead, eventually succumbing to his wounds because even after calling 911 no one arrived in time. And when trying to report the case, the police seemed unsettlingly indifferent to the situation. Through some eavesdropping Diluc eventually learned the police were in the pocket of the ones who killed his father. As if his father being murdered didn’t destroy his world enough, even his perception of the justice system was shattered to pieces.

He grew, he inherited his father’s business as was Crepus’ desire, and he just became much more jaded. He didn’t have the means to disappear but he wanted to. This world didn’t give him the means to take justice into his own hands but if it did he would take that chance. But life doesn’t work that way, does it?

It didn’t stop him from running the business effectively, his approach was surprisingly proactive as a CEO, but eventually people within his extremely small close circle gave him the means to branch out on his own and conduct his business elsewhere. And so he found himself in Kaisou.

AU Personality Differences: - A bit more trusting of other people since he didn’t have Kaeya’s horrid timing to mess him up.

- He’s a little more down to earth, but only a little. He’s cringe, but he is not yet free. But if we're being honest all he needs is the opportunity.

- Has actually had wine and tries it somewhat regularly, though only to taste and critique. Still dislikes drinking heavily.

Canon: Fate: Grand Order (OU)
Canon Point: Post Solomon
Birthday: Let’s just go with January 1 for this guy. Old Servant is Old.
History: Boop

Personality:
Flirty, but mostly respectful to women (his epic has some Moments)
Quick to a fight.
Normally happy go lucky.
Hates being a Caster, would prefer being a Lancer.
Is considered a ‘protector’ and ‘guide’ due to his class. (And he’ll do it too…. It comes in at a later Singularity though)
He’s summoned at his prime, so he’s physically strong… but due to being a caster, has a lot of limits to his strength.
If a red archer shows up, pls expect a fight.

Time of Arrival to Kaisou: He probably arrived a month or so ago, after wandering through a labyrinth that manifested like an Irish forest. He’s just been laying low and watching things happen to gather information.

Other Characters: Amal Vasiya ([profile] geodancer) - though from the same canon, Amal isn't updated and quite honestly she is not his type so I doubt he would pry.

Character Name: Zero
Canon: Final Fantasy XIV (Paranormal Modern AU)
Canon History: (CONTAINS SPOILERS FOR THE NEWEST PATCH 6.3) Here. Surprisingly detailed for a wiki.

Canon Personality:
🌒 Honest. Zero has no reason to spread lies, which means she's honest. Brutally so, at times.
🌒 Detached. Emotions are a luxury that she does not have as a voidsent. Emotion is a human thing. She regards her world with a cold, logical detachment that has kept her from perishing.
🌒 Curious. Though she has little reason to be, Zero is very curious about the Light in the world and the way that Etheirys' people work. Her natural curiosity is what leads her to join the Scions in their quest to find the dragon lost in the Thirteenth. She asks a lot of innocent questions, and a lot of why—even if it makes her stand out to ask things like "why don't you just leave that person for dead?"
🌒 Tenacious. She is scrappy even when outnumbered, fighting til the very last of her strength. Refusing to be conquered, even when helpless her spirit does not break. She simply waits for her chance to break free.
🌒 Independent. Zero spent considerable time under the oppressive thumb of Zenos, who stole her power and forced her into servitude. She remembers this time well and despises being under the thumb of others. She ran off on her own rather than serving a stronger voidsent in exchange for safety, and her domain eventually became the home of misfit demons who were too cowardly or had lost their masters.
🌒 Rudderless. She has little in the way of her own motivations. Instead, she follows her curiosity and a quietly understated sense of adventure. She takes interest in the Warrior of Light and the Scions and follows them partially because she's curious about what they'll do, but she has no strong attachment or goals until she realizes that a "fire burns in [her] breast." Up until then, she seems to follow her own whims.
🌒 Logical. Zero has a very particular set of rules. She declares she'll only aid the party if given payment. However, the price of this payment can vary depending on her mood, from someone's mana reserves to a simple apple. She obviously isn't above tweaking her own rules or making excuses to do what she wants, though she'd never admit it.
🌒 Tactless. Owing to her slow reacclimation to humanity, Zero can say things that are strange or downright rude without realizing she's broken some rule. She also doesn't... care if someone gets upset, though she seems to be aware of her misstep if she doesn't receive the expected reaction.
🌒 Impulsive. Though she's out of touch with her own emotions and her own heart, that doesn't stop her from rushing into situations that defy "proper" logic-- such as protecting innocents or taking on a veritable army by herself. Sometimes she'll do these things and not understand why she did them.
🌒 Protective...? Zero may have no desire to be a leader, but others gravitated to her strength on the Thirteenth, and she watched over them with a keen, discerning eye that could tell when something was amiss about them. She also won't stand by while people perish unnecessarily, when she knows that she could easily help them. Despite her insistence, others see her as something of a guardian, if not exactly maternal.
🌒 Strong-willed. For a voidsent, it's kill or be killed, eat or be eaten. Even so, she despises the act of consuming others' life force because it dulls the sense of self, and consumes energy only. The fact that she's lived for possibly centuries and kept her form speaks to her sense of self.

AU Name: Cecilia Black
AU Birthday: November 1st

AU History:

(cw: child abuse/experimentation)

Hailing from a rural part of Ireland, Trista was an impoverished woman in a bad situation. Unfortunately, this made her the perfect prey for Krusnik. They coerced her into cooperation with the promise of shelter, food, and money. What they did was far from charitable. They immediately recruited the woman into their current twisted project, which involved combining humans with the mana and genetics of supernaturals (monsters).

Though Trista was not strong or gifted, she was resilient enough to carry her unborn child to term... though not without consequences. The experiments that Krusnik forced on the woman had touched the baby in her womb, gifting the child a half-existence. Cecilia was born a normal-looking baby with brown hair and gray eyes, but she radiated a soul-deep darkness that made her ideal for further experimentation.

Surprisingly enough, Cecilia's mother lasted a few years longer. At night she told her daughter fanciful stories of heroes waging war against evil, mostly based on books and radio shows she had heard in her youth. As Krusnik ramped up its experiments, Trista grew weaker and eventually succumbed to her poor health. Cecilia was only about four, and reacted about as well as anyone can expect—by taking out her rage and grief on everything around her with her powers.

This was precisely what Krusnik wanted. They subdued her and subjected her to countless trials, buffeting her with all kinds of magic to test her limits and see what else they could awaken. They even threw her into battle against both beasts and true monsters, and whatever horrors their lab could create, but they never let her die. Whenever she got close to death they'd bring her back from the brink and start it all over again when she'd healed. This was how she grew up: knowing very little save for pain and experiments and the briefest moments of mercy from handlers who usually didn't last long. She retreated into a corner of her mind to keep her sanity and thought only of survival, a void where no one and nothing could touch her.

Krusnik realized at some point that, though Cecilia had survived and most of their other subjects in this division had not, she lacked the chimerical qualifications they had hoped to cultivate. She showed no signs of turning into a shade, nor even possession. Though they'd sunk countless years into the fortification of their shadow child, something had to be done.

The atmosphere in the lab changed enough that even Cecilia noticed. In the middle of the night, a team of scientists and muscle were sent to dispose of their failed experiment. She fought like hell against the injections, so they grabbed guns. When the guns weren't enough, they tried for magic, but it was too late: nothing is more terrifying or unpredictable than a cornered animal. Sensing her chance for freedom, Cecilia tore through her attackers with shadow magic and made her escape.

Her identification bracelet gave her designation as 02943 so she took the alias Zero when asked her name. Through the kindness of strangers she was given clothes and a chance to get on her feet in a small town. It wasn't long before some strange men came asking around about an escaped "hospital" patient. This kicked off a game of cat and mouse; every time Zero started to get established somewhere, she would have to run away again. A few years ago she realized that North America might be safer, so she secured a plane ticket and landed on the east coast. In order to avoid detection, she made her way inward, until she heard a rumor about Kaisou's supernatural happenings.

Curious despite herself, and craving stability more than she cared to admit, she hitchhiked to Kaisou to investigate.

AU Personality Differences:

This Zero is a little more traumatized than the Zero in canon, who may not remember how things were before the war, but would at the very least recall the world before it was swallowed by the void. Zero had very no memories to go on since she was raised in the lab. She had some vague expectations of what the outside world is like due to listening to the people who worked in the center as well as the stories her mother told, but very little of it is helpful-- thankfully she has some real-world experience. Zero also has a lot of painful memories floating around that she's just... dissociated from, which is a totally normal and healthy coping mechanism. It's fine, though. Probably.

Because of her lack of knowledge and abilities, she's forced to rely on others more. She still puts emphasis on not owing anyone anything, though, because she feels like it might be used against her... or cause Krusnik to find and punish anyone who helped her. That too. She is a hard worker, but only on her own terms, as is to be expected.

In canon, the object that would be the source of Zero's angst and revenge is dead, so justice has already been served and she can move on. However, Krusnik is an organization that is very much alive and still doing horrible things. She feels an intense desire to destroy that place, and an even more intense fear of being discovered-- neither of which she has begun to process.

Lillian Shikibu/WOL | FFXIV | Black Order AU

[personal profile] dawnsdarkness 2023-01-21 02:00 am (UTC)(link)
Player Name: Bookie
Contact: Bookie#7341 on Discord
Invited by: i live here now
Other Characters: G'raha and Zagreus

Character Name: Lillian Shikibu, aka another Warrior of Light
Canon: FFXIV
Canon History: Lillian was born in Doma, a few years before the Imperial occupation began. However, her merchant parents had a suspicion that was where the winds were blowing, and had already began making preparations to get on the Garleans good side (including naming their daughter with a distinctly non-Doman name, in the hopes that would make them seem less 'savage'). Their intent had been to raise Lillian as a proper lady, in the hopes she could marry into a Garlean family and ensure their health and safety. This... did not take into account any of Lillian's actual personality traits. To call her a 'wild child' would be an understatement, and the only even remotely 'proper' activity she took to was sewing, which seemed to have at least something to do with the fact that stabbing fabric with a needle worked to vent some of her frustrations. She spent most of her days, once she was old enough, out of the house, training by herself or with what villagers (some of who she suspected were Resistance members) in the hopes of fighting back against Imperial rule one day. However, on her return home one evening, she found her home to have been ransacked and her parents killed, and no obvious explanation for why. (To this day, she can't help but wonder if they were punished for her behavior.) Having no desire to wait for someone's return, and knowing she wasn't yet strong enough to win a fight alone, she took what valuables she could find, using them to pay for her passage to Eorzea.

And then the story of FFXIV proceeds roughly as normal: https://na.finalfantasyxiv.com/endwalker/patch_6_0/story

Canon Personality:
-Lillian mains monk and dark knight. Really that tells you everything you need to know about her.
-She presents as very cheerful and sunny, and mostly means it, but she's covering for a little of darker emotions that she doesn't quite know what to do with.
-She finds as outlet for these emotions in fighting (though that becomes harder throughout the series as motivations become more nuanced and complicated), and also, uh, Adult Activities. I should probably mention she's kind of a sadist????
-She is also not a smart person and she very much knows it. She is very much a "point me at what to punch" kind of person and, while having sort of gotten used to strategy meetings, heavily leans on the Scions who are better at that kind of thing.
-Despite her rather aggressive nature, she has learned to love the Scions as her own family, and will do anything to protect them and help them advance their dreams.
-She also absolutely adores children, and is genuinely very good with them. She ran around so much with the Doman Adventurer's Guild playing games and going on 'adventures' with them.
-The whole thing with Zenos really fucked with her, because in many ways she is his mirror- someone who found a cause to fight for, rather than just fighting with no cause. Post-Stormblood, that encounter (plus seeing too much of herself in both Yotsuyu and Fordola), forced her to confront her weaknesses, and she's been trying very hard to think about what she does and what she fights for, so she doesn't lose herself in the midst of fighting. It's... a work in progress, but post-Endwalker she's pretty proud of how far she's come, now working towards focusing on people to help rather than enemies to fight.

AU Name: NA
AU Birthday: February 2nd
Faction: Black Order

AU History: Lillian's parents immigrated to the States from Japan before she was born, and sort of tried to toe the line between adjusting to their new home and keeping their traditions. Lillian pretty promptly ignored Asian parenting attempts!! She was always pretty horrible at school, and probably only got away with picking fights because no one would believe the 4"11 girl would/could actually start the fights. She started in karate very young, and then promptly switched to kickboxing when she was old enough because "forms were boring". She's a bit of a fitness nut, and whenever a new guy comes into her gym and harasses her at the weights they quickly learn to regret it.

Her junior year of high school she started developing scales across her body, which to her extreme confusion no doctor could see. She wound up kind of ignoring it because, seriously, fuck it, it doesn't itch or anything so it's probably fine, and she didn't actually run into the supernatural side of Kaisou until the summer before her senior year, where she basically beat the shit out of something that had crawled through (she thought it was like, a mutated raccoon or something). That caught the Black Order's attention, and she's been with them for a few years now. They send her places where they really just need someone to beat the problem up.

AU Personality Differences: Lillian is still pretty firmly in her 'fight wherever she's pointed' stage. She hasn't really had to face herself and her own shortcomings yet, soooo it'll be interesting to see what the Black Order tries to direct her!

Au Ra scales (not horns yet) - 2 points
Dark Knight sword - 3 points
WoL superstrength - 3 points
Chakra usage for monk abilities - 4? points

Character Name: Pannacotta Fugo
Canon: JoJo's Bizarre Adventure
Canon History: Over here! Once again, despite being from the same canon as Kakyoin and Caesar, Caesar is dead long before Fugo is even born and Kakyoin is dead well before Golden Wind actually starts, so Fugo's got no reason to care about or interact with either of them. I was told to increase JoJos so I am Increasing JoJos

Canon Personality:
🍓 Incredibly intelligent (he was attending college at 13 in canon!)
🍓 Serious (not nearly so much so as some in the group, but pretty serious... okay, anyone looks serious next to the likes of Mista)
🍓 It may be surprising, but he's actually pretty personable and even friendly, all things considered
🍓 Caring and often protective (in canon this is particularly directed towards Narancia)
🍓 Calculating and strategic
🍓 Tends/Tries to be The Logical, Rational One (to varying degrees of success)
🍓 Holy crap he's actually got a self-preservation instinct
🍓 Tends to be more restrained, and generally prefers to err on the side of caution...
☣️ ... right up until he loses his temper
☣️ Easily enraged
☣️ Tends to resort to violence pretty quickly when he loses his cool (his first appearance in canon has him stabbing Narancia with a fork for an incorrect answer to a math problem)

AU Name: Patrizio Fugo
AU Birthday: February 27th
Faction: Black Order

AU History:
🍓 Much like his original self, Patrizio Fugo was born to a wealthy Italian couple. His high intellect was clear from early on and he was urged to study hard and make something of himself.
🍓 He discovered a minor fire manipulation ability early on, and practiced with it in secret. When he tried to show his parents... they freaked out, and told him to stop playing with lighters and matches. So, he went back to messing with it in secret.
🍓 He was pretty isolated in school, what with his opting to study all the time as his parents told him, and this persisted about up until he was 13.
🍓 When he was 13, he started getting more nervous during school, for reasons he would say he couldn't put his finger on, but mainly because nobody would believe the truth (it was past life memories--of his previous life's time in college). This didn't go unnoticed by his teachers, though only two of them really cared.
🍓 That's about when disaster struck--one of the teachers, concerned by Fugo's shift in behavior, went to talk to him about it. The conversation between the two was tense and it ended badly--the teacher had said exactly the wrong thing at the wrong time, and placed a hand on Fugo's shoulder and Fugo lashed out.
🍓 Luckily--or perhaps not, depending on your point of view--someone else was there to intervene. The other teacher that had noted Fugo's shifting behavior stepped in before things could get well and truly out of hand. This second teacher was an undercover member of the Black Order. He said he'd keep Fugo out of the worst of the trouble for the incident, as long as he joined the Order. Otherwise, he'd have his past life's memories erased and powers sealed (which Fugo didn't fully understand at the time), and would be more or less left on his own to deal with the incident. Not wanting to get into trouble and not seeing any other choice, Fugo agreed.
🍓 So he's pulled out of his current school and brought to the Black Order, where he remained a trainee until he turned 16, gaining more memories of his past life and refining his abilities--nervous about the possibility of regaining his ability to use his past self's Stand the entire time.
🍓 Now that Fugo's no longer a trainee and now a proper Guardian, he gets shipped off to Kaisou in short order, to also keep an eye on the situation there.

AU Personality Differences:
🍓 The biggest thing is Patrizio is a very nervous individual--nervous about not living up to others' expectations, nervous about Pannacotta's anger issues somehow resurfacing, nervous about the possibility of Purple Haze emerging at the worst possible time... yeah.
🍓 He wasn't found by someone as caring as Bucciarati, and never really had a chance to be. He doesn't have that group of friends surrounding him and he's lonelier as a result.
🍓 Despite being a more nervous person, he's actually a lot more stable than his past self. Sure, he's still got a quick temper, but it's not as pronounced, and he's not going to immediately jump to violence the way Pannacotta would.
🍓 He might be a Black Order Guardian, but the idea of using lethal force? Yeah, that wigs him out a bit. Contrast this to the trail of bodies the Escort Team leaves in their wake in canon without even so much as a comment.
🍓 oh god his overthinking is WORSE
🍓 Better fashion sense, jesus fucking christ--
🍓 "Who the fuck names their kid Pannacotta?!"

Element: Fire
Purchased Powers:
🍓 When angry, you emit fire or cause the area around you to heat up. (2 points)
🍓 Conjure a fire the size of a person. (3 points)
🍓 High level fire manipulation. (4 points)
🍓 Reduced need for sleep (5 hours per night). (1 point)
🍓 Low-level regeneration (1 point)
🍓 Resistance to heat up to 200F (93*C). (2 points)
🍓 Detect if something/someone is magic and general information on element-type and strength. (2 points)
🍓 Skin is warmer to the touch than normal. (1 point)

Mogget | The Old Kingdom | Black Order AU

Player Name: Fiona
Contact: [plurk.com profile] hardtostarboard, hardtostarboard#7737, DM
Invited by: I’m already heeeere
Other Characters: Jane Porter, Thanatos

Character Name: Mogget / Yrael
Canon: The Old Kingdom
Canon History: Canon Wiki | Mogget/Yrael

Canon Personality: Mogget is a capricious creature, given to being contrary and lying by omission, often for his own amusement or to highlight the failings in others. The level of dignity with which he carries himself can be, on occasion, broken by such things as unexpectedly getting wet, catbalm, or the prospect of food. In these ways and in others, Mogget often shows distinctly cat-like behaviour, something which has been undoubtedly influenced by his time spent in that very form. However, there are many things that Mogget does which make it all too clear that he is no ordinary creature, even with the ability to speak set aside.

His motives are not often clear, particularly in earlier canon, and while his loyalty and honesty towards the Abhorsen cannot usually be called into too much question, those traits do rely quite heavily on the personality and will of the Abhorsen themselves. If an Abhorsen is neglectful of their duties - and therefore of him - he is given far more free rein to do as he wishes. He is bluntly spoken and has little patience for foolishness, though if it is insisted upon he will sometimes choose to sit back and allow the inevitable consequences to unfold as a teaching moment. Mogget will not hesitate in 'stirring the pot', delivering well-aimed verbal barbs that at first seem only designed to irritate, but usually have an end purpose in mind.

Though he can come across as a somewhat lazy, demanding and even selfish creature, openly dismissive of others and possessing an occasionally abrasive temperament, Mogget is very capable of empathy and personal connections. Whether he chooses to make use of this is another matter, but he is not the detached creature that his aloofness would have most believe before they have an opportunity to get to know him better. He shows this particular aspect of his personality later in canon in his odd but very genuine attachment to Sameth, the son of the Abhorsen Sabriel.

Despite his shape and small size, Mogget is a highly adaptable, capable individual. He takes a sensible, practical approach to problems and is able to view most things in an almost coldly objective light, offering solutions to be accepted or ignored. He does not appreciate being ignored, and is not above getting snitty about it.

Unbound, in his (true) form as Yrael, Mogget's personality takes on a far more sinister air. He delights in the idea of finally exacting revenge upon the bloodline which has kept him bound in servitude, though his failing here is that he takes far too long in acting on it. Yrael appears to not wish to give any of the Abhorsen bloodline a quick death, more than implying a preference towards slow, lingering torture for the years of being bound that he has been made to endure. Later in canon, Yrael's personality considerably softens, but at this stage he is a creature of immense power, rage, and a pure desire for vengeance.

It is perhaps worth noting that when he is unbound by Sabriel and almost kills her, he does appear apologetic after he is bound again (though he does not verbally apologise). In the very least, he understands how his actions shook her and does not act as if nothing of note happened.

AU Name: Formerly Eoin Raggett, now goes by Yrael.
AU Birthday: August 1st
Faction: Black Order

AU History:
🐱 Born into a large, close family with mixed Irish and French roots, who were always into each others business. It wasn’t something that he minded at first, being the youngest and always the most timid of his eight siblings. Most of them pursued creative careers. He was closest to his eldest brother, Niall, who looked out for him and shielded him from the worst of his sibling’s teasing and bickering.
🐱 When Eoin was around sixteen years old, Niall began to fall in with a bad crowd and created discord within the family. Despite the efforts of their parents to reel him back in, the man pulled further and further away from them, culminating in a vicious argument in front of most of the family that resulted in him disowning all of them and leaving.
🐱 Unlike the rest of his siblings, Eoin would not write Niall off for his actions and continued to write to him, trying to coax him back. The amount of pressure that his brothers and sisters put on him to forget about ‘that traitor’ would cloud the next few years until, at the age of nineteen, news reached him that Niall had been found dead.
🐱 After so long trying to bring his beloved brother back to the family, this news utterly broke Eoin. He withdrew from academia and almost all social interaction, shutting himself up in his room and refusing any contact from anyone. It was at this time that he started to get flashes of memories that were not his and began waking up from vivid dreams in a panic, unsure of who he actually was - or what he actually was.
🐱 His family noticed the changes in his personality and his peculiar actions and put him in therapy. It didn’t help, because he wouldn’t talk about any of it for fear of being labelled as crazy.
🐱 A few months after the dreams and flashbacks started he was approached by someone who claimed to be from an organisation called the Black Order. Though he was sceptical about their motives he agreed to join up as an opportunity to get away from his family, whose increasing coldness and distance towards him over the last few years had become completely unbearable.
🐱 He left without any word to his family and did not tell any of them where he had gone, though he doesn’t care if they find out.
🐱 Memories continued to return to him over the next year or so following joining up, slotting in between and sometimes overwriting his own, altering his personality in many ways. Eventually he abandoned his given name completely and started going by the one that he sometimes heard voices speaking to him in his ‘other’ memories - Yrael. He no longer gives anyone his real name and only those who worked with him when he still used it, or have access to his personal files would know it.
🐱 Yrael spent the next fifteen years working for the Black Order on various assignments and gained both trust and notoriety in the way that he would never (at least overtly) refuse an order given, regardless of what it might be.
🐱 He almost broke this streak when he was told to go and assist the investigations in Kaisou. Part of the myriad of regained memories involved spending a lot of time stuck in the form of a cat and being aware of the effects that Kaisou could have on people he had no wish for that particular issue to intrude upon his actual life. Eventually he was persuaded, and moved a month or so later to lend his eyes and ears to the investigation.

AU Personality Differences:
🐱 He has an additional layer of ‘humanity’ that his canon self lacks, and tends to be more understanding of other people and is not as overtly demanding, though still rather abrasive.
🐱 Definitely not homicidal/murderous towards anyone.
🐱 He doesn’t hate his job - in fact he views the Black Order as having given him a second chance at actually having a life. He’s very grateful to them in a weird, co-dependent kind of way.
🐱 Not necessarily lazy, though also not above manipulating the pieces of a situation into place or simply watching something play out, so that he doesn’t have to do as much work.
🐱 Sensitive about matters of family, his own past, etc. He holds most people at arms length because he doesn’t want to be hurt again, not because he thinks everyone is beneath him… though it can definitely come across that way.
🐱 Not demonstrating cat-like behaviour... yet.

Element: N/A
Purchased Powers: (not 100% on the costs of these so pls correct if necessary!)
🐱 Fully transformed into the shape of a small white cat (currently permanent as of Kaisou arrival) - 4 points
🐱 Solo teleportation - 3 points
🐱 Minor shapeshifting (can make his paws ‘lengthen’ into finger-like appendages, not creepy at all) - 2(?) points
🐱 Red collar (not currently worn, or magical) - 1 point

AU History:
Velvet was born in a small town in rural West Virginia, the middle child of three. As far as she knew it, her life was extremely ordinary. She went to school, made friends, and got along with her siblings. Her little brother was frequently ill, so she'd fuss over him a lot. Sometimes he'd tell her stories about supernatural things happening in town - but she always dismissed them as stories.

In truth, things were far from ordinary in her town. However while her brother and sister could perceive the supernatural, she lacked the skill to, so anything they'd try to show or tell her would be brushed off as just them having over active imaginations.

Eventually, Velvet's much older sister Celica began dating a man who moved in from out of town named Arthur. While he barely talked about his past, he got along well with the rest of the family and quickly was welcomed. Even though they were barely adults, the Crowe family celebrated when Arthur and Celica got married.

It was a year after the marriage that disaster struck. When Velvet was 14, her parents and her sister died in what she thought was a car accident, with Arthur being the only survivor. Arthur took the loss hard, but took it upon himself to watch over Velvet and her brother. They did their best to manage as a family, and despite her grief, Velvet eventually found some happiness in helping look after her family.

The years past. When Velvet finished high school, she decided she'd stick to close to home and enrolled in community college with the intent of getting a culinary degree. Her brother's health was getting worse, so she did everything she could to look after him. She also took up a job at a diner, to help make ends meet.

When she was 21, she came home from work one night to find neither Arthur or her brother was at home, but the back door was left open. She went to investigate, heading to a place in the forest that she knew her brother liked to visit. There, she walked upon Arthur stabbing her little brother and offering his body up to a large beast that was within a Spirit Gate.

Velvet flew into a rage from horror and shock, and attempted to go after them. Her daemon powers activated as she did so, past memories flooding into her brain - that Arthur had done this before. Unfortunately, this caused her to be disoriented and she was easily incapacitated. When she came to the next morning? Arthur, the monster, and her brother's body were gone.

Not long after, she was found by the Black Order. They explained about the existence of the other world, and that her brother was likely sacrificed either for power or to fulfill some kind of "price". She was then given a choice of either joining the Order or having her memories and powers sealed. Since having her memories sealed meaning she'd never have a chance of finding Arthur or uncovering the truth, she agreed to join the Order at least until she can get her revenge.

Since then, after training finished she has spent the past three years mostly in Florida due to her well...basically being a Florida woman herself. They sent her to Kaisou partially out of concerns she might decide to eat Professor Willow, so now she's your guys' problem.

AU Personality Differences:
She's mostly the same except that her revenge desires are more lowkey because she honestly doesn't have a lead and also there's not people constantly telling her how her brother-in-law is the greatest ever. She's still bitter and traumatized, but it's not AS extreme.

Also has probably eaten less people.

Probably.

Element: Shadow

Purchased Powers:
- Daemon form (She can turn her hand into a massive claw that consumes people and their energy. She doesn't feel heat or cold, and the only thing she can taste is blood though she is always hungry) - 8 points
- Shapeshifting into any form that's horse size - Shadow Element, 4 points.
- Better than average night vision - Shadow element, 2 points
- Enhanced sense of smell, 2 points

Player Name: Fae

Invited by: MYSELF
Other Characters: August Villareal, Rhel Fashonti, Yusuke Kitagawa

Character Name: Ash Carbide
Canon: Trails of Cold Steel
Canon History: Here

Canon Personality: Ash acts like a punk and, to be honest, he is very much a punk but he's a good kid deep down. Really, really deep down. You might have to dig a little. His prickly, rebellious "fuck you and fuck them I do what I want" is thick and for most people is all they will ever see of Ash Carbide. Once he gets to know you, though, and once the whole curse situation is handled, it is a lot easier to see his softer, kinder side. He's still not going to get willingly sappy, though. That's not his thing.

He's really a boy of dualities. He seems like someone who doesn't care about school, but he's one of the smartest people in class. He dresses like a punk, but he loves to read and is in the Literature Club. He doesn't care about following rules, but when push comes to shove he can be a wonderful leader. He's a mess and he knows it and frankly he doesn't care to change that. Fuck that.

AU Name: Ashley "Ash" Cabott, born Johan Webber
AU Birthday: July 18th
Faction: Black Order

AU History: Ash was born Johan Webber in Germany seventeen years ago to Jan and Emilia Webber. Unfortunately they died in a car accident when he was three, and that was when Krusnik got their hands on him. They erased Johan Webber from existence and shipped him off to their various labs. He spent a few years in a lab focused on trying to raise super soldiers only to then be shipped off to a lab focused on possession. Ash, as he was now known, was particularly belligerent and they felt they might be able to get a war god to possess him.

This didn't happen, as when he was about 9 or 10 the facility he was in was raided by some madman and while Nightroad had nothing to do directly with what happened to Ash, it probably didn't help. The lab he was in had a habit of tossing kids into the stable gate they had in the so-called basement, hoping for a possession. They'd monitor the situation, letting the weaker ones die while they pulled the promising ones out. Rinse, repeat, and so on. Except when the lab was raided, it was all hands on deck and this included the ones monitoring the gate they had just thrown Ash into.

Every other kid in that gate that day died, even ones that might have otherwise been okay after being pulled from the gate. The only survivor was Ash, and the second he got out of the gate he used the chaos from the raid to make a break for it.

The only success the lab would likely ever have, gone in a flash.

Ash wandered around the area in a daze until he was picked up by the authorities and placed in a group home. One of the women there, named Ellen Cabott, took a shine to Ash and did her best to help him not fall through the cracks. When she died three years later, Ash took her last name to honor the one adult in his life who ever gave a fuck about him. He then promptly left the group home and proceeded to get into all sorts of trouble, driven on by his "little friend". One asshole he fought asked if his name was short for Ashley, hoping to get a rise out of the kid; Ash just said "you're fuckin' right it is" and knocked his teeth out. (He has. Some regrets about this but honestly he doesn't care enough to change it.)

He fought and stole and did whatever he had to to survive until he was about fifteen, when the Black Order picked him up. Along with the memories (that Ash was pretty sure were hallucinations from the trauma of his whole everything), Ash was constantly beating the shit out of people way out of his weight class and his little friend swore it wasn't his doing. The Black Order informed him that the memories were real, he was just reincarnated, and that his abilities were in fact carry overs from that past life. They gave him the choice of joining up with them or having it all sealed away; since he was already possessed and he doubted they could do anything about that even if they tried to seal his memories away, Ash joined up. It wouldn't be the first time he agreed to work with some shady fuckers, after all.

Upon joining up, the Black Order gave Ash a crash course in normal high school lessons in between missions. He's sharp, so he was caught up pretty quickly despite the constant need to fight thanks to his Little Friend and ready to actually do some work.

So they sent him to Kaisou, because that city is Batshit Insane and what's one more guy who wants to fight god?

AU Personality Differences: He is somehow even less likely to trust people than his canon self is, and due to the possession is way more belligerent. Otherwise, same old Ash.

Element: Fire
Purchased Powers: ARCEUS II and the Scorpio Master Quartz with the starting level of abilities unlocked (3 points)
His switchaxe (2 points)
Sense presence of others within 500 feet (4 points, suck it Schwarzer)
Temporary fire immunity for ten minutes (3 points)
He can explode (4 points)
Possession: Ash has been possessed since he was about ten or so, after Abel Nightroad raided the Krusnik lab he was being kept in. The raid nearly killed him and he was only saved by a Neikea (a Greek spirit of quarreling) deciding it liked this kid. His contract price is that he has to provoke someone and get into a physical altercation at least once a week. He hasn't told anyone about this (unless the Higher Ups in the Black Order can just tell).

Character Name: Grusha
Canon: Pokemon Scarlet/Violet
Canon Point: After losing to the MC for the first time
Birthday: Feb 18
History: wiki's here!

Personality:
- Cynical: Since the accident, Grusha takes most opportunities to mention how fleeting success is, or how easily your life can be thrown off-course. He has a general downwards outlook, believing his job to be in jeopardy also.
- Coolheaded: Grusha generally keeps his emotions in check, save for in the heat of battle.
- Jaded: Grusha admits he believes his passion had frozen over; being a gym leader is just something he's holding onto because otherwise he'll have nothing left.
- Honest: When Grusha does open up, he's upfront about things, not shying away from discussing the accident or how his career hangs in a precarious balance - or from the situation that puts him in.
- Easily embarassed: Grusha's not one for taking selfies with others or things he deems 'uncool'.
- Low self worth: Grusha isn't sure what he is without his talents, or what would be left behind without them, indicating he doesn't view himself as having much substance or worth outside of that. He used to strive for the future regardless of challenge, but no longer considers himself that person.
- Wise: Grusha is often one to dispense advice (though, often as a warning), and can come out with wisdom such as noting that backing off takes courage in its own way, and seeing through the MC enough to know they'll push forward eventually.
- Nostalgic: Grusha's prone to nostalgia, thinking about the past, especially when reminded of himself. He also tends to project a little in this.

Time of Arrival to Kaisou: Same time as acceptance! He'll be very lost in more ways than one. His labyrinth will probably resemble Glaseado mountain, where his gym is based and where his accident occured.
Items: 4x Pokeballs, ID, Wallet, Tera Orb
Retained Abilities: He'll keep his Altaria, which will know:
- pluck
- peck
- growl
- disarming voice

Other Characters: N/A

Character Name: Hythlodaeus
Canon: Final Fantasy XIV
Canon History: https://finalfantasy.fandom.com/wiki/Hythlodaeus

Canon Personality:
Polite: He's always cordial and well mannered even to strangers. It's probably just generally expected in the "perfect" Ancient culture he lived in… but he's really pleasant.

Playful: He likes having fun and wants for others to have fun... Or for others to amuse him. He'll forgo any pragmatism for that. He supports a friend kinda breaking the rules if it leads to an amusing outcome, and gives the other friend a bit of headache because he's not always straightforward and practical.

Smug: He has really good vision and perception beyond that of a normal mortal, to the point where he can claim "nothing escapes it". It makes him a little haughty in a teasing sense, like no one can hide anything from him, but only towards those he's close to. He also has a job that makes him a little sassy because it's submissions of creature concepts to be allowed into the world, and they're not always good ones (such as sharks with legs, arms, arms and legs...).

Humble: In that same vein, Hythlodaeus has only that superior eyesight as one of his talents. According to him, every skill he has is subpar in comparison to any other Ancient being, like magic or combat. Thus, he doesn't feel suited to important roles where he may be called to action.

Devoted: He cares a lot about his friends and loved ones. When his talents or position is needed by them, he's there for that without any complaint. He would always support those needing his help, and is a pretty helpful guy all around. Also, he sacrificed his life with others to summon a god, because it would save the world he loved.

Optimistic: He's cheerful! He enjoys a lot of what he does from day-to day, and doesn't let things get him down for long, even his own shortcomings. He laughs and smiles easily, and can't find total fault at things that could annoy or inconvenience him, like his job of rewiewing concepts.

AU Name: Raphael "Huey" Clarke
AU Birthday: June 22
AU History:
Supposedly, he was born from a long line of witches. The magical talents only seem to pass on through women, hence the specification of witches. He was taught some basic things like spells and stories.

While his mom is a witch, his father was something of a writer and folklorist on supernatural phenomena. His books were pretty popular, though regarded as fiction by regular people.

His childhood was stable and because he was born male, was raised pretty normally. His mother didn't mind that at all, having a child unburdened by that responsibility of dangerous witchcraft was nice. But his parents wanted him to hold onto the knowledge and to have some love for it.

He and his parents were involved in a car accident when he was a young teen. Thanks to a deal with one of his mothers familiars, he lives as a possessed, but he is the sole survivor of the incident.

He's raised by relatives on his father's side, but they are pretty wary of the paranormal. Out of fear of being abandoned or hated, he learned to act normal. He also never desired to achieve anything great out of fear his past and the possession would come to light, which was traumatic for him.

The possession's contract price was also unwoeldy in his youth, because it led to classmates and who he thought were friends taking advantage of him. The betrayal caused outbursts and unusual incidents. It couldn't be pinned on him by sheer luck, but he then never wanted people to get close.

He gets pretty good, but not standout grades in school, earns a liberal arts degree in college, and goes through a lot of odd jobs along the way. Some waitering, retail, admin, even a modeling gig. Currently, he works at a used bookstore with some modeling on the side. The possession and price do not bother him as much in his adult years, having gotten used to them.

AU Personality Differences:
Lonesome: The supernatural aspect of his life does affect him enough to feel distant from others and unable to form lasting relationships. He was also much worse at controlling his feelings in youth, leading to mishaps because of his possession. He keeps a bit more to himself and tries to have a better hold on his feelings through emotional distance.

Aimless: In canon, he believed and made it his life's goal to help his two closest friends reach their own goals before he felt his life was complete. Such a presence does not exist in his AU life, so he's less driven without a goal.

Grounded: Hythlodaeus in canon comes from a world and time where he and his people believed they lived in an abject paradise, and there weren't any major flaws in their society. This AU makes him a little more cynical, so he's a prone to a bit more sarcasm and not always believing things will turn out as fine as his canon counterpart would. It's not too harsh though, some of his optimism remains.

Element: Light
Purchased Powers:
-Detect if something/someone is magic. (1 point)
-Rather improbable luck. (2 points)
-Solo teleportation (3 points)

Possession: Huey is possessed by a sparrow familiar that was acquainted with his parents and assisted his mother in her work. Huey will sometimes attract small animals, but cannot communicate or understand them. He cannot speak directly with the familiar either, but he can get a feel for their mood and basic opinion. They're a simple creature who tries to be unassuming, but remains pretty curious of the world. Apparently because of their background in the Spirit World, they value hospitality.

The pact price is that Huey must always provide his full opinion, advice, or counsel if asked. He cannot remain silent or change the subject, else he feels light-headed and dizzy the longer he goes without answering. However, he can still lie or be a bit vague about his response. The advice also doesn't need to be followed by the recipient. Being too vague however often leads to having to answer more questions, so he'll avoid it.

AU Name: Sorey Shepard // Dr. Rosewood
AU Birthday: November 24th
Faction: POKEGO

AU History: He was born Slade Shepard to a Japanese mother and British father in London, England. It was a pretty happy childhood. He went to school, made friends, got a little bullied.... His father got him into Arthurian legends, and he fell in love with history and mythology. An early dream of Slade's was to become a history professor or even an archaeologist, since exploring ruins sounded like fun. Such a dream was mostly crushed by kids he considered his friends, who truthfully weren't the best people he could've hung out with at the time. They were the kind of friends who took advantage of his kindness and big heart to fill a void in their own lives, which ended up burning Slade out by the time he reached high school. Their disinterest in history killed his passion to pursue it as a career, and so he felt a bit lost.

It was when Slade was 17 that his life took a drastic turn from normal into strange. On vacation with his family, they joined a program that would allow them to rappel down the side of an old castle. Slade, naturally, was extremely excited by the prospect. Right as he was lowering himself into position, something in the mechanism snapped. He fell and the strangest thing happened: a flashback to a memory in which he—but also not Slade—fell into darkness with a boy his age. He didn't get much more than that, as he was knocked unconscious. When Slade came to, he was in a hospital with a few broken bones. Fortunately, he was able to make a mostly full recovery with the metal fixtures removed. Unfortunately, due to the severity of the fracture in his left arm, those fixtures would permanently remain in the bone. Slade was simply grateful that he came out of it was well as he did, and that his dominant hand had been spared the brunt of the damage.

For a long time, he had a fear of heights. His parents, bless them, suggested therapy and he agreed to try it out. Slade then became interested in psychology as his sessions progressed, and his therapist suggested taking some courses in psychology, encouraging him to pursue it as a field of study after high school. The only thing he kept from her was how he would sometimes flashback to a memory that was his, yet not his at the same time. It was strange and confusing, but he didn't want to get locked away in a psychiatric hospital.

On his way home from school one day, Slade was approached by someone. Their appearance, even their voice, was something he would never be able to remember. However, one thing was clear: they were interested in recruiting him to something called The Black Order. They said Slade was remembering his past life, and that he could make a difference if he joined them after graduation. He wasn't comfortable with it, especially with how pushy they were, and he wasn't sure what to do for a few months after the incident. Then, there was an invitation in the mail waiting for him. An organization called POKEGO wanted to invite him to join their organization in one of their research units. Slade gave it some thought over the summer, but it was another Order member trying to coerce him into joining their organization that really made the decision for him. POKEGO sounded like an organization that would allow him to leave if he needed or wanted to later. The Black Order didn't. Slade sent his acceptance to POKEGO, requesting to be able to join their psychology unit while he went to university for the subject.

After graduating high school, he got tired of living 18 years with people confusing his name with "Slate," and filed a legal name change to "Sorey." In his opinion, it was a lot better having "sorry" jokes than it was being compared to a piece of rock for the rest of his life. His family pretty much became the only ones who continued to call him by his birth name, and he was happy with that. That said, the next eight years were dedicated to gaining his Psychology Doctorate so that he could become a clinical psychologist. During that time, as part of his studies, he worked with more experienced psychologists in POKEGO to get on-the-job experience, as well as aid in the research efforts. While working with the Spirit Realms, Sorey began to show an affinity towards Wind magic, though it seemed like his ability to use lightning was where he really shined.

During his time at POKEGO, he came to make friends and looked up to some of his fellow researchers from other cohorts. Professor Willow was one such person Sorey looked up to. He admired Willow's dedication to his research. That almost landed him into trouble, as it turned out. After earning his BA, Sorey was scouted to see if he was interested in doing more than just researching Spirit Realms. They wanted to see if he was perhaps interested in joining a restoration project. Sorey tried to get more information about it before saying yes or no, but his colleague was cagey and avoidant of the details. Something about it didn't feel right, so he declined. Though, he noticed that since declining, no small part of his colleagues within his cohort distanced themselves from him to a degree. Sorey didn't know what to think of it, but there was no more talk of restoration after that, so he left it alone.

Nothing happened for four years after that. Sorey graduated with a Psychology Doctorate, and was looking forward to getting more job experience so that he could open up his own practice someday. He was on a much-needed vacation with his family—mostly his parents and grandparents—when Professor Willow enacted his plan to imprison a god. When the news reached Sorey, it was... honestly, it was devastating. That news became even more tragic when he saw how few of his cohort hadn't participated. It was a very small cohort to begin with, but almost all of them had joined Willow's side. Some had died in the chaos and in-fighting, but some were still alive and were facing punishment for their actions.

At some point after things had relatively calmed down, Sorey was assigned to Kaisou to aid a colleague in mending the organization's relationship with the residents there. They felt that his general temperament and work ethic would help improve their image. He took the assignment gladly. Even if he hadn't personally been involved in what had happened, he still felt responsible as a member of POKEGO. Perhaps this was the best way Sorey could atone for his cohort's involvement. Fortunately, his grandparents lived in Kaisou and were willing to take him in until he found a job and made enough to get housing on his own.

AU Personality Differences: 🧭 That obsession with history and ruins and all that? It amounted to nothing more than a hobby. He didn't have the passion to make a career out of it, but there's still a lot of hyperfocusing on HISTORY and RUINS.

🧭 Still believes the best in people, but he's a little more cautious and a lot more aware of how much he can realistically handle emotionally.

🧭 Holy hell is this a tired man. Yet, somehow, he remains cheerful and positive. They're just tempered by time and probably loneliness.

🧭 We do not talk about the loneliness.

🧭 Sorey very much wants to find a way to restore his home world. Not for himself, but for the people of his past life. He feels he owes it to them now that he's slowly remembering that world.

🧭 Reading books, working out, and watching Disney movies are absolutely coping mechanisms.

🧭 After all the shadiness he's been dealing with in this life, he's gotten a lot wiser about something not being quite right.

Element: Wind
Purchased Powers: Ornamental sword (1 point), enough lightning to flirt with Zeus (8 points), can withstand falls from any height (4 points), Shepherd's pact (3 points)

Character Name: Mikleo
Canon: Tales of Zestiria
Canon History: https://aselia.fandom.com/wiki/Mikleo

Canon Personality:

💧 Mercurial. Mikleo can go from sternly admonishing his partner Sorey to teasing very quickly.
💧 Kindhearted. No one would dare call him gentle, but Mikleo takes care of those around him in his own way, and he does so without hesitation (so long as there isn't any danger).
💧 No-nonsense. As the carrier of the braincell, Mikleo makes sure that he's the voice of reason at all times. He has his weaknesses, however.
💧 Icy. Mikleo keeps an eye on things, and can be cool or even cold to those whom he deems unworthy of his trust.
💧 Loyal. However, once people have broken through that icy exterior, he's surprisingly ride-or-die.
💧 Protective. Going hand in hand with loyalty, he will use everything he knows to protect those around him.
💧 Mature. Mikleo is only older than Sorey by a matter of months, but he acts like he's way older than that. One could even say he takes things too seriously. Sorey is always trying to get him to lighten up, whereas Mikleo cools him off and tries to curb his impulsive nature.
💧 Stubborn. He is stubborn as a rock according to Sorey, and he knows it. His convictions are very important to him.
💧 Driven. Speaking of convictions, it's Mikleo's dream to see the world with Sorey and he won't let anyone stop him, especially not Sorey. He does what he does in the game not for Sorey, but for himself.
💧 Optimistic. Though they've seen their share of hardships, Mikleo maintains a positive outlook. Call it Sorey's influence. This can also be seen in how he comes to love humanity as much as Sorey despite seeing the good as well as the bad.
💧 Secretive. Mikleo is observant, and prefers to keep his true thoughts on the situation to himself until he's sure of what he's seeing.
💧 Curious. Like his counterpart Sorey, he has an insatiable thirst for knowledge, and this can overrule his usual cautious nature if they're in some ruins.
💧 Devoted. Mikleo and Sorey are two halves of one whole, sometimes to an unhealthy degree. Mikleo is unwilling to let him go at the beginning of the story, but by the end of the game, he believes that Sorey will return-- and holds onto that conviction for an unknown length of time until he meets his partner once again.

AU Name: Miyuki "Mikleo" Nagawa // Assistant Wisteria
AU Birthday: March 14th
Faction: POKEGO

AU History: Mikleo was born as Miyuki. Raised in Hokkaido as the son of two teachers, his parents raised him to appreciate knowledge and beauty. He spent his childhood years learning everything he could about the old beliefs, the history and archaeology of the land they lived on, and spent summers looking over the temples because of the tourism. When he was about six years old, he nearly drowned after falling into a pond. From then on he was very careful about being around deep water.

In the end it wasn't water that got him, though. On the eve of his sixteenth birthday, a vicious fire roared through their old house. His parents were able to get out in time, but Mikleo ran back in to save the family cat. The roof collapsed on top of him as he guarded her from the smoke and flames, and this would become his tomb.

When he awoke, he had changed-- he looked like an anime character, had some knowledge that he was certain he didn't have before, and more importantly, he could manipulate water and even heal the injuries he had suffered in the collapse. The cat had survived too, but she acted like she didn't recognize him, or maybe she couldn't... see him? He tried to get help, hailing everyone he could and even tracking down his parents at his grandmother's house, but no one could see him.

He was a ghost, a spectator of his own life.

Solemn and unsure of where to go from here, he was approached by an associate of Professor Willow while watching over his own funeral. Surprised that anyone could see him, and not seeing many other options, he joined POKEGO for something like a new beginning.

He apprenticed under several people, finishing out his traditional education and moving into secondary paranormal education. With POKEGO's sponsorship, he eventually decided to focus on the study of gods and ruins due to their tendency to become gateways to other realms, and also because he had to concern himself with keeping places like that pure, lest disasters like his past life happen again.

When he was first brought into POKEGO and his weakness to corruption was discovered, he had been assigned to several partners and made a pact with them so that he could use them as a vessel in order to stay pure. They were all nice enough people, and he got along well with them. He slept in separate rooms when possible, and they all just treated it like two researchers sharing a field posting. His third partner had lasted the longest (6 years), and was a very charming man who was also earnest in his work to help Pokemon and every other innocent creature in the world they came across.

However, he caught wind of something dark and terrible and confronted his partner with the rumor that Willow was a traitor. This forced a confession out of his partner: he was in league with POKEGO's leader, and they were close to something that would change the face of the universe forever: imprisoning a god. Fearing for his life, Mikleo severed their pact and hid. While he was ultimately unable to sabotage Willow's plan with the info he had, he was safe, while his partner died in the chaos and infighting.

After being so betrayed, Mikleo refused to take on any more pact partners, even though it put him at considerable risk. POKEGO realized that they could only do so much for Mikleo, so they assigned him to Kaisou and reasoned he probably couldn't make relations any worse.

AU Personality Differences:

Mikleo grew up without Sorey in this AU, but that wasn't entirely a bad thing. He knew love and a healthy family for most of his life. Losing it all has taken its toll, however, and a combination of past life memories and experiences with a life invisible have tempered his personality. He's more like early-game Mikleo with how reserved and cautious he is, though no less tenacious-- it's his existence on the line after all. Mikleo goes by his past life's name outside of work in an attempt to distance himself from the life he had, as he considers himself to have died.

He's always felt like he was missing something and he knows now that it's because his past life had a sun he revolved around. Mikleo knows the boy's name but memories of his appearance are hazy.

Character Name: Libra
Canon: Fire Emblem: Awakening
Canon Point: Post Game
Birthday: July 1
History: https://fireemblem.fandom.com/wiki/Libra

Personality: Libra is a kind and patient man, and this is tested for the majority of the game. He manages to put others at ease through the war. A member of the Nagan clergy (war monk: “I’m a healer, but…”), he’s very trustworthy and supporting, along with protective of the remainder of the party. He does have limits to this though, becoming angry at Gaius for his views towards prayer in their support. But, he’s forgiving, and forgives Gaius before teaching him the correct way to pray.

Even though he’s a supportive person, he’s also somewhat detached because he considers himself to have a dark side. He had a horrible past, including his parents abandoning him when he was a child (the game doesn’t go into details, just that it was bad), and he wishes to erase it, including his memories of it, so he feels less like he’s carrying a curse.

Libra hates who he is inside, mostly due to a lack of self worth. He reveals to Sully in their supports that while he wanted to become part of the clergy, be kind to people, and praise Naga, he thinks there might be a part of him that doesn’t want the life he has (and probably why he can become a dark mage and that line during the game). He tells Maribelle that he had little faith in humanity until he saw her efforts to bring equality between the noble class and the commoner class, and seeing that changed his views.

He isn’t proud of his deeds during the war, knowing that fighting with the Shepherds means he has to kill people, even if it’s supposedly for the greater good. (Personal opinion: I think this is partly why he opens an orphanage after the war. Penance for the soldiers he killed.)

Time of Arrival to Kaisou: A month or so before app date. He’s been spending his time in various churches in prayer and trying to figure out what in Naga’s name is going on. As for maze…, hit me up, mod-chan. I have no specific ideas.

Items: 1 healing staff, 1 amulet of Naga

Retained Abilities: 1 normal level healing spell, channeled through the staff.

Other Characters: G'raha, Lillian

Character Name: Ryoji Mochizuki
Canon: Persona 3 (Paranormal AU)
Canon History: Here

Canon Personality: On the surface, Ryoji is a flirtatious, outgoing, slightly mischievous boy who basically wants to spend his days hitting on pretty girls (and is not at all deterred when they hit him as a result). However, this surface personality is only partially true. Ryoji adores... pretty much everything about life, and wants to experience as much of it as possible, and a lot of that means forming connections with other people. Underneath the flirting, he really has a genuine desire to become close to people, and even in his very short time where he's oblivious to his real nature he bonds very closely with several members of SEES. Even then, though, there's a sort of quiet sadness to him and quite a few moments of reflection, where he senses that things are not as they seem and he worries about what the future holds. After the reveal, he is deeply mournful and full of guilt for what he must do, and he tries to lessen the pain for his friends as much as he can. Importantly, though, he still gives them the choice- he doesn't understand why they still choose to fight and remember their coming doom, but he respects it and still tries to do whatever he can to help. He is, at his core, a thoughtful and helpful soul, who just wants the people around him to be happy and safe.

AU Name: Ryoji (Mori) Mochizuki
AU Birthday: March 5th

AU History: Ryoji was born Ryoji Mori, son of Nycissa Mori of Styx Enterprises. He vaguely knew of his father, but was raised solely by his mother in between her work as one of the top chairs of the company. He was raised fully with the expectation of succeeding her in that position, but it became pretty clear early on that that was going to be more difficult that expected. Though not a complete failure at school, Ryoji was always far more interested in socializing than studying and had absolutely no head for math or anything relating to business. Making it more difficult is that when he was about ten or so, he was in a serious car accident that, actually, killed him-- only for him to be saved by a possession. This was of great interest to Styx, and while Ryoji was never physically harmed during any of the following examinations, he (and his possessor) did not enjoy that At All and there was definitely some wrecked equipment in the process.

As he grew older, Ryoji grew more and more uncomfortable with the corporation and his imagined role it, especially the use of supernatural elements and their seeming attempt to exploit and control it (can anyone say specially designed probably sentient robots???). He was far more at ease to be around people in a caring capacity rather than any sort of leadership or management role, and while he understands the need for innovation and change, he doesn't think Styx's approach is doing much to actually help anyone.

So, when he graduated from high school, he decided he was going to go to college for nursing, with the intent of specifically helping those in palliative care. He went by his father's last name in order to disguise his relation to the company, and took out loans to pay for it himself since his mother didn't see the point of it all. He's been living on his own for a few years now, into his rotations now and working far too many hours. He's not officially estranged, his mother believing he's going through a rebellious stage and will 'come to his senses' eventually, which he's not at all sure how he's going to deal with when it comes to a head.

AU Personality Differences: Ryoji is... less guilt ridden than his canon counterpart, because as far as he knows he's not going to end the world in the next few months. In fact, he spends a lot of effort to keep himself from falling into despair (he's learned meditation and some other things) to prevent him from being dragged to the Spirit Realm as a result of his possession.

Element: Shadow
Purchased Powers: High level regeneration (3 points)
Moderate healing (2)
Minor boost at night (1)

Possession: He's possessed by the embodiment of the Death Arcana! :D Yaaaay!
Contract price 1: A lengthy ritual that must be performed every full moon at midnight. (weirdly, he feels like it always takes less time than it should, but it still works soooooo)
Contract price 2: He must carry at least the card of the Death Arcana with him at all times. (He usually keeps a full deck with him, plus an extra card. He's considering getting a tattoo just so he doesn't have to worry about it anymore.)

Character Name: Eunie
Canon: Xenoblade Chronicles 3
Canon History: Eunie
XB3 Plot Synopsis

Canon Personality: - Honest to the point of being blunt. Eunie can be a little bit tactless sometimes, speaking before she thinks but it’s just because she doesn’t bother hiding how she feels about something. Why bother when it’s just gonna come out anyway?

-Caring. Her motivation throughout the game is keeping her friend safe and spends several moments listening to them when they’re down about something, having done this several times with Mio. And when she can't she'll ask someone who the person in question is more inclined to listen to. She's empathetic, a real heart-to-heart kind of person. Even if sometimes she's a little too afraid to think of her own.

-Short tempered. Not a hair trigger temper, mind you, but if you aggravate her or do something stupid she’s going to say outright that you’re a daft sod. And if you try some passive aggressive insult towards her she’s immediately going to realize it and proverbially poke you in the chest and ask you to go ahead, elaborate. Be you friend, foe or rando.

-Impulsive. She’s not really a planner by any means. When you swap her to a DPS class her dialogue is literally “I’ll hit ‘em. And then I’m gonna HIT ‘EM AGAIN.” Which pretty much sums up how she is despite being a healer.

-Sassy. She’s the most British Xenoblade Character, dry sass comes with the territory.
Afraid of dying. She’s confident in her skills and well aware of her short lifespan but the idea of dying before her homecoming is horrifying to her early on. Especially since it’s happened once before and it still gives her nightmares.

-Straight-forward. She says its easier to take things at face value and she means it. Simple is easiest for this girl, and while she isn’t blind to when inevitable change is put in her face and while she’ll struggle a little bit depending on what it is it won’t take long for her to think “Well if this is how shit is now, it’ll be like that, innit?”

-Loyal but friendly. Obviously Lanz and Noah are her best friends and she’ll do anything for them in canon and nothing will deter her. But she made friends quickly with the Agnes crew once the situation proved they’d kind of need to. She’s a bit pushy though.

AU Name: Eunice “Eunie” Kinsley
AU Birthday: June 18
Faction: Black Order

AU History: For her first ten years, Eunie led a fairly normal life. Well, as normal as one raised with foster parents could be. She was the sort of kid who stood up to bullies a lot and would fight if necessary but her presence alone would usually deter them. She was better at knowing first aid than at fighting. She grew up in England and initially she was raised to be a proper English lady but her patrons as much as they came and went quickly realized how futile of a process that was going to be.

She made friends as much as one can at the orphanage she spent time in, kept up with them as best as she could. Something about a big tough guy and a more passive one just felt the most comfortable to her. Occasionally she’d slip up and call them by the wrong name, Noah and Lanz, because she remembered having friends with those names. And it wasn’t like she cared about being without parents. Even as she grew and for some reason wings began to grow from her head. This was something that freaked her out when she was young, but she got used to it after a while.

In fact, she felt like she’d been born with the wings her whole life! Sod it, they’re nice looking. Probably the first tip the Order had about her.

It was a day like any other when things started to get worse. She’d just turned 18, went around with friends and they all returned to one of the friends’ houses after a night on the town. But someone of clear supernatural ability with claws broke into the home, killed both her friends and were about to do the same to her as she sat there, paralyzed in fear. But she was able to summon her blade purely by survival habit and shoot one of them before they could kill her. The other retreated seeing this tiny winged girl with what was essentially a rifle.

She couldn’t move for a long time, her friends were dead and she couldn’t help them and even though she was safe she had the stark memory of death’s cold embrace while she sat in a bloodied field.

It didn’t take too long after she went to the hospital herself for the Order to approach her, explain what happened and essentially give her the ultimatum of joining up with them or selling her out to Mr. Claw, not to mention the few memories she had of her past lives that pushed her to get herself help in the first place. Not that she had a choice in the matter, but fear and impulse along with having no where else to go were what ultimately led her to just go with it.

She’d been with the Order for about two and a half years before being assigned to Kaisou to help with the messy situation going on there.

AU Personality Differences: For the most part, Eunie is the same but she has a fair amount of survivor’s guilt on top of her canon personality. She screwed up in keeping her friends safe which also brings back memories in canon of her failing to do that. It's something she keeps to herself, but is going to try to make herself extra useful in healing as a result.

Player Name: Jade

Character Name: Morgan
Canon: Fire Emblem Awakening
Canon History: Here!

Canon Personality: The first thing that anyone will notice about Morgan's character is that he's happy and upbeat. He's genuinely optimistic, and even Lucina admits that "[she's] not known anyone so optimistic in all [her] days." Despite having no memories when he first wakes up, and knowing that the future he came from is one that's in ruins, he still finds a way to keep his optimism. Morgan's optimism is radiant and tends to spread to many people that he talks to; no matter the situation, Morgan always looks to find a silver lining. He believes not necessarily that the best will, but that the best can happen in any scenario, if they give it their all. Even when, in one ending, they know that Grima will likely return, he still carries this optimism saying telling his mother not to worry because they'll "find a way to make things right!" The optimism that Morgan holds is inherent and not forced, as he states himself with Yarne, "I never really stopped to think about it... I guess I was just born this way?"

This optimism and belief that things will always end up okay underscores another key character trait of his; adaptability and flexibility. Rather than sticking with a rigid plan, Morgan tends to "go with the flow" and do whatever seems like a good idea at the time. For example, when Owain declares him his "one and only rival," even though he's taken aback and confused at first, he eventually just rolls with it and starts trading ridiculous banter with Owain in what he thinks is a game. He ends up playing with kids in a village and singing to them, just because he felt it was a nice thing to do at the time. Similarly with Cynthia, upon her insisting that he should use an epithet for himself, he tries to immediately declaring himself "unwavering light that makes bad guys... really sad!"

The flip side of his willingness to "go with the flow" is that he can sometimes be short-sighted and not think things through. For example, in Hot Springs Scramble, he doesn't realize that his plan with Inigo to play dead to catch Risen might also worry their allies. In the same DLC chapter, he doesn't realize until after a water fight with Cynthia that perhaps the splashing would hit their companions as well. Similarly, he's not always the most careful with his words, often causing him to say what comes to mind immediately, even if he sometimes has to backtrack (such as in Kjelle's and Severa's supports).

That being said, he's always willing to talk to his friends. He reaches out to people naturally, and as Yarne says in his supports, that all it took was two days in camp before Morgan was "everybody's best friend." He's not afraid to approach almost anybody he can stop and talk to, be it to ask if he can learn somebody's training secrets (Kjelle) or to ask if they'll join the group for dinner (Severa and Yarne).

Beyond just talking, Morgan is someone who's always willing to lend a hand to people he cares about (which is just about everyone he knows). Almost all of his supports with the other second generation kids involve him helping them in some way, be it helping someone get over a phobia of bugs, helping someone feel safe on the battlefield, or even just offering words of encouragement that the other person is awesome and that everything will turn out okay. Sometimes, he'll even help out at the expense of his own safety; in Nah's support, he climbs a dangerous cliff to help find a flower to help her, even if it ends in him covered in cuts and bruises. Despite this, he still delivers the flower with a smile, insisting that he just found it on the side of the road.

Despite his penchant for friendliness and warmth, Morgan can still tend to be somewhat of a trickster. In many of the supports with his mother, he tries to trick and outsmart her in various ways. He loves games, and as a tactician, enjoys thinking of strategies. Before suggesting the ill-fated "play dead in the hot springs" plan with Inigo, he came up with several others, including, but not limited to, "boil the risen alive" and "electrify the risen with lightning." Although he can sometimes be short-sighted, being so adaptable and quick thinking makes being a tactician something Morgan is good at. Additionally, it's something that's very important to him, and something that he's always willing to improve upon.

It would be impossible to talk about his dream of becoming a master tactician without first talking about his mother, however. While all of the relationships that Morgan has in the game are important, it's clear that his relationship with his mother is the one which is most important. After all, despite the amnesia, Morgan still has memories of (only) his mother. It's stated that Morgan's dream of becoming a Master Tactician originated because he wanted to follow in the footsteps of his mother. Even to the Future Past Morgan, who was serving Grima, the relationship with Robin was still of great importance, as talking to the tactician was enough to get them to flee the fight. It's subtly hinted that the only reason this Morgan was aiding Grima in the first place was because they were following Robin (who was currently being possessed by Grima). Despite the many things that Morgan does to help Robin, he can also be competitive at times, challenging her to a game of strategy or trying to successfully play a prank on her.

While Morgan's relationship with his mother is likely most important, his relationships with his other family members are important as well. For example, his sibling support with Lucina is one of the few times where we see Morgan upset or angry, as he's afraid and angry about the thought of his sister dying. In his support with his father, too, we see Morgan get upset, but for a different reason. Although he's generally very cavalier about the whole memory loss thing, it's revealed that it does bother him that he doesn't have any memories of the rest of his family, eventually bringing him to the point of tears.

Still, despite all of this, Morgan remains a happy and upbeat person at heart, and someone who would easily adapt to living in a new world where there are many new things to learn and friends to be made.

AU Name: N/A
AU Birthday: May 9th
Faction: Black Order

AU History: Morgan was born to a relatively normal middle class family in the midwest. He isn't from Kaisou, but the town he's from isn't especially different, once you take out all of the supernatural elements. He had a remarkably uneventful childhood, and both of his parents were wholly invested in his education.

Not that they particularly needed to be. In the maths and the sciences, Morgan excelled. They hired every tutor they could, but he would quickly surpass all of them. It didn't appear to be an issue, until Morgan got to middle school. It turns out, a precocious child and a curriculum that isn't challenging enough for them don't mix together particularly well, and it wasn't long before 'incidents' started occurring at the school. Thankfully, no one was ever injured, and while no serious damage was done, he did cost the science department several thousand dollars.

In a last ditch effort, Morgan's father tried to do something, anything, that would take his son's interest. He introduced his son to chess. Morgan took to the game like a fish to water, and it wasn't long before he was rising the ranks of every chess app he could find on his phone. Not content with that, he started reading the works of Sun Tzu, and other wartime strategists.

Between the online rankings, Morgan's test scores, and various police reports, various newscrews reached out to his parents about their golden child. During an interview, Morgan mentioned being inspired by someone he saw on a dream that "felt like he was from another life." This caught the Black Order's attention, and they approached Morgan's parents about an "educational opportunity." Not seeing the down sides, Morgan's parents readily agreed.

AU Personality Differences: He's a little more confident because he doesn't have mem loss, but he's almost indistinguishable from his canon counterpart.
