Isa…
Re: Un: Mariposa
Who was isa?
no subject
She’s safe at home now.
[But Mirabel… is gonna miss her like crazy.]

[She didn't know you could GET sent back home. She was still getting the hang of all of this].
You probably miss her a lot already. You all seem pretty tight knit.
[And honestly, it was hard for Luz to NOT want that family to avoid sadness like that. They all seemed so nice.

It's okay. [It's not.] She's safer at home, I think? This place gets dangerous sometimes.

Doesn't one of the Madrigals have really good hearing? You could listen for her.

you wanna go buy some flowers with me?
[ Camilo's coping by distracting himself, going to channel his heartache over his cousin's disappearance by trying to comfort the others — no surprise there. But he knows she's gone. The light of her door has faded; the outline of her figure on their front door has grown dim, like his father's, his uncle's, their grandmother's... There's no mistaking what that means. Isabela's gone. Where? He doesn't know. He doesn't want to speculate on that. He doesn't even want to think about how, just as easily as they arrived here by chance, Isabela could be elsewhere in the universe... If they just assume she's safely at home with the others, then that's all they can do to cope.
That and buy flowers. As an homage. Bittersweet, perhaps, but better than grieving by refusing to acknowledge her absence, like their Abuela had done with Bruno's disappearance all those years... Out of sight, out of mind. That's not their style anymore. Not here, when this loss is just one more heartache on their family's seemingly ever-growing list of grief in Kaisou... Flowers might not help, but, well, nothing can — so at least the house will still smell nice. ]

i don't know
i don't want to say goodbye yet
[She's not GONE gone, she has to remind herself of that. Once this adventure is over, once their time in Kaisou comes to an end... she'll see her again. They'll all be reunited again.
But god.
Does it still hurt.]
no subject
we're just buying flowers.
if she's not gone and we find her, then when she comes home, we'll surprise her with our own flowers for once.
[ He doesn't want to say goodbye as much as anyone else... nor does he want to ignore the obvious, though. He knows it's an empty platitude to play into, but... he doesn't know what to say. There's nothing to say. He'd never thought about any of them disappearing, from this world... He's not fully convinced it's not some crazy Spirit Realm kidnapping again but this time it only got Isabela, or what. But the doors. The doors were the kicker for him. Still... he's not going to bring that up and force the issue. The truth is, too, that in his own grief over Isabela, whom he shared such a special (though odd) bond with... he also just doesn't want to be alone right now, himself. ]

we should get a cactus too
i think she'd really like one
for when she comes back
[Because that's the thing, isn't it? When she comes back. Not if. She's not grieving. She's not sad.
She's just waiting for her sister to come home.]
/waters their plants with his tears
Add her tears too
handwave the rest?
Sure!
[Not Here]
But Isa's door is dim.
Isa hasn't been down for any meal and her daughter never missed a meal.
Her daughter is gone. Home, safe, she prays, but her eldest, her first child is not here.
And there was literally nothing she could do to stop it.
So don't mind her, she's going to be throwing herself in her work because the alternative is to remember how empty her home is without her mother, her husband, her brother-in-law, and now? Now her eldest.]
un: oyente
[And that's it, really. For her family and anyone else who happens to be welcome in the house she will be in her room for a couple of days, not coming down for meals... until she emerges to pretend that everything is fine.
As is the Madrigal way.]
action
Dolores? Dolores!
no subject
[She's audibly sighing as she opens the door to her cousin, rubbing one of her eyes as if she's just woken up (though they look a bit bloodshot, so maybe she wasn't sleeping at all). There's no delay to the answer, nothing to suggest she's actively trying to avoid Mirabel, but then again she has been missing meals.]
I'm here, Mira, I hear you.
no subject
You’ve been missing dinner. We were starting to get worried…
[She doesn’t ask “are you okay”. Clearly no one in this family is right now.]
no subject
I should have said something. Lo siento, Mira, I just...
[She steps back, opening the door and gesturing to let Mirabel come in if she wants to.]
I couldn't look at that empty place knowing Isa should be sat there.
action;
He has no tact about this. Now is not a time to be polite? He'll be a little polite, not going to straight up burst in, as much as he wants to... But when he knocks, it's not a gentle rap, nor is it a playful little musical one like he often does. He pounds on the door with force. Not enough that it will hurt her ears, always considerate of that his whole life, but certainly louder and more urgent than he normally would. Even his voice is rougher than usual, raising his volume after knocking; but there's no mistaking the bubbling panic in his tone, though. ]
Dolores?!
no subject
Her brother's urgent knocking has her bolting upright, the panic in the voice outside her door easy to hear even without her gift, and she is wrenching the door open within moments of hearing him call out for her.]
Camilo! [And of course she knows. She needs no explanation for his panic. Dolores grabs her brother by the shoulders and drags him into a crushing hug.] I'm here, Camilo. I'm right here, okay?
