OLD PAGE. GO TO THE CURRENT APP PAGE HERE
Okay so application is a very strong word and not entirely accurate, but it's a term we all know so bear with me. This is the page where you officially submit your character information for the game! Apps will not really be judged on its contents but more making sure everything fits into the setting of the game. If you want more information on the setting, please check out the FAQ!
How do I join the game?
This app page is currently open! Apps can be submitted by players at anytime. Apps are reviewed by the mod on Sundays.
To join the game, the only big thing is you'll require an invite from another player. Players can invite up to 2 people per month. Just be sure to list their name and have the person confirm that they did invite you either by contacting the mods directly or commenting to your app. Apps that do not have a invitation confirmation will not be looked at by the mods. If a confirmation does not come within two Sundays of the app's submission, it'll be automatically rejected.
A new player must be in the game one full month from their app acceptance date before they can invite another player (meaning if their app was approved on September 18th, they can invite people starting October 18th). This is so the new player has a chance to get acclimated to the game and community enough to assist any friends they later invite to the game.
Players who were in the game but who dropped/were swept will not need an invite to rejoin the game for up to one month after their drop date. After that month, they will require an invite to rejoin.
Once you submit your app, you'll get a welcome comment confirming that everything is a-okay. The only times I'll ask for revisions is if there needs to be a fix with power purchases or possessions.
Is there a player cap?
There is a player cap! Kaisou allows a total of 75 players. Should we ever reach cap, apps will close until openings become available.
PLAYER SLOTS: 46/75 filled.
What kind of characters do you allow?
Most things! Canon characters, Original characters, CRAU, AU characters - the list goes on. Double characters are also allowed so long as the doubles are notably different from one another (examples: MCU Peter Parker and Into the Spider-verse Peter Parker would be fine as they are two clearly different interpretations of the character. Alternatively, a canon version of a character and an AU version of the same character would be fine as long as the AU causes a notable difference in the character). Customizable protagonists and characters from canons with different story routes are allowed, and any characters with differing story routes would be considered AUs from one another.
The only requirement for a character is that they do require a consistent canon history. This is because many of the plot events and mechanics deal with memories and connections to their previous life (or current life if an OU). If you wish to app a mascot character that doesn't have a specific canon background (a vocalid, clippy, the trix rabbit, etc) - you are welcome to write an OC that's inspired by the character with a clear established background to work from. Characters who have multiple canon iterations (like Link from Legend of Zelda or Sonic the Hedgehog) will need to pick a single iteration to pull their canon background from. Characters must also have been properly introduced (not just a quick cameo) in their canon for at least one month at the time of apping.
How many characters can I play at a time?
You can play up to four active characters at a time! Only two of these characters are allowed to be Original Universe and there is a player cap of 25 OU players.
OU PLAYER SLOTS: 24/35 filled.
At the start of each month, we will make sure there are at least 2 OU player slots open whether it be through drops, or adding extra slots. But to keep from one cast from dominating the limited OU slots, there is a OU cast cap of 6 characters per cast. There's no cap on AUs from the canon at this time, just OUs!

How frequently can I submit an app?
There is no time restraint on the first two characters you app. If you join the game with the intent of playing two characters, you can app them both immediately or wait it out! However after you app your second character, you will require to wait one month between each new character app (so if you app your second character on March 2nd, you will need to wait until April 2nd to app a new character).
What type of characters can I play in this setting?
You have three options for characters!
- Normal Modern AU: These characters have lived normal lives in a modern Earth setting, completely oblivious to anything strange up until their entry into the game. Anything in their backstory should be events that could reasonably happen in the real world. Upon acceptance, Normal AUs will be allowed to pick one free regain (canon regain or an elemental power) worth up to 3 points that will come into effect after they join the game.
- Paranormal Modern AU: These are characters who have grown up in a modern Earth setting, but throughout their lives have experienced supernatural occurrences. These characters will get 3 extra points when they app to use for powers that the acquired at some point in their lives (if they so choose). Characters are also allowed to be apped as possessed status. Please refer to the FAQ for more information on that!
- Original Universe Characters: Characters who hail from their original world and find themselves waking up in this world. These characters will not lose any memories, and are allowed to have any items that would reasonably be on their person when they arrive. They are allowed to retain one ability that's been weakened to beginner levels, otherwise they've been completely depowered.

Character Name: Napstablook
Canon: Undertale
Canon History: Here
Canon Personality:
Napstablook is an introvert ghost with low self-esteem and a gloomy personality. They tend to spend their time in places away from other monsters, such as the Ruins. Along with preferring isolation, Napstablook doesn't try to initiate conversations with people they don't know. Such was the case with Frisk, when Napstablook pretended to be asleep to avoid interacting with them. But when Frisk tries to engage them in a friendly way, Napstablook is quick to warm up to them.
Napstablook suffers from a crippling lack of self-esteem, having absolutely no confidence in themselves whatsoever. They apologize for minor inconveniences, such as supposedly rambling too much when they talk about themselves for a couple of sentences. In response to attempted flirting, Napstablook just dejectedly answers that they'd only be weighing Frisk down. They don't expect anyone to go out of their way for them, and they don't expect others to enjoy their company. When Frisk accepts Napstablook's invitation to visit their home, Napstablook admits that they weren't expecting Frisk to come over. When the Mad Dummy flees the fight with Frisk, Napstablook immediately blames themselves for causing Frisk's "friend" to leave. They seem to have very little confidence in people willingly spending time with them, and seems to be resigned to the idea of others passing over or leaving them.
If they're gently encouraged or if someone's kind enough to them, Napstablook will attempt to socialize with that person and try to impress them. For example, if Frisk cheers on Napstablook enough, they'll use their own tears to make a ghostly top hat to show Frisk. On the other hand, Napstablook seems to take rejection pretty hard. If Frisk doesn't immediately say something positive when Napstablook tries to impress Frisk with their ghostly top hat, they'll respond with a sad "I knew it" and it'll be difficult to console them. It seems like Napstablook fears rejection in general, and that's why it's difficult to get them to socialize with others unless that person really tries to interact with them. Another example of this is when Frisk later joins a monster social networking site and gets a friend request from Napstablook. Before Frisk can even accept it, Napstablook immediately deletes the request. Also when Napstablook invites Frisk to lie down on the floor with them, rejecting their offer twice causes Napstablook to get upset and vanish out of the room. That's actually how Napstablook deals with confrontation or rejection most of the time. If there's a situation they don't like or want to run from, they'll try to phase away from it.
While it might be out of fear of upsetting the other person, Napstablook is polite and accommodating to a fault. For example, if Frisk chooses to fight Napstablook, they eventually reveal that they can't actually be killed and that they were lowering their HP because they didn't want to be rude. In a neutral run where Frisk has proven themselves to be dangerous, Napstablook will still attempt to be a good host despite being afraid of Frisk. Even if they're afraid of Frisk and don't want to be around them, Napstablook will attempt to find a polite and non-confrontational way of trying to steer them away. This results in Napstablook accidentally telling Frisk the location of their house so Frisk can "avoid" running into it by mistake. During the pacifist route, Napstablook makes more of an attempt to befriend Frisk. They come over to say hello while Frisk is in the middle of fighting the Mad Dummy, and actually invites Frisk over to their house. What this proves is that if someone is kind enough to Napstablook, then Napstablook will try being friendly with them in return. Napstablook never seems to expect their attempts at friendship being reciprocated, and they always act surprised when Frisk follows through.
By visiting Napstablook, it's shown that they have a strong passion for music and that they make CDs online as a hobby. If Frisk plays any of the CDs found in Napstablook's house, the ghost will offer their honest opinion on all of them. Napstablook has a strong preference for an eerie arrangement of ghostly music that other monsters find creepy and off-putting, but those songs are what gets Napstablook to really open up about music. They'll even sing along to one of the songs if Frisk plays it.
When not making CDs or listening to music, Napstablook also has a fondness for snails. Their home is connected to a snail farm, in which Napstablook runs by themselves even after the rest of their cousins left to pursue their dreams of being corporeal. Out of Napstablook's family, Napstablook seems to be the only one who isn't fond of the idea of having a body of their own. In addition to raising snails, Napstablook is a big fan of Mettaton's TV show. They're the first one to call in when Mettaton starts taking calls for his show's last episode, mentioning that they'll miss the show once it's gone and that it brought excitement to their life.
In general, Napstablook doesn't have much confidence in themselves and tends to think of themselves as a bother, but they'll still go out of their way to please others. They're a very kind, and rather socially awkward monster with a passion for music that's hard to match. Napstablook's reclusive nature often leads them to be the last to know what's going on around them. This actually ends up saving Napstablook from having their soul stolen along with the rest of the Underground's population during Frisk and Asriel's final battle, but it comes with the unfortunate consequence of Napstablook never learning Frisk's real name.
AU History:
-Napstablook was born to musician parents and has an older brother. Both of their parents are in a somewhat famous rock band that had a hit song in the 80s.
-Because of their parents, Napstablook has traveled around a lot. Their parents eventually settled in Kaisou after their last tour. Their brother ended up leaving Kaisou because he wanted to be more involved in television and acting. They haven't spoken to each other in years.
-At the age of 5, Napstablook began to see ghosts. Their parents forbid them from talking about it, afraid that it might single out their child for "being weird". They assumed it was a phase for Napstablook, and that they would grow out of it the same way a child would grow out of having an imaginary friend. They didn't. Instead, Napstablook found that they could help some ghosts move on through calming them with music.
-Napstablook became obsessed with the supernatural, wanting to understand why they can see ghosts. But their obsession started to include all kinds of supernatural creatures, convinced that there's more than just ghosts out there.
-Like their parents, Napstablook took an interest in music too from a very young age. While not rock music, they enjoy making music that's themed around the paranormal (their songs have a "spooky" beat to them).
-They eventually decided to pursue a career in music, and is currently working as a DJ in Kaisou.
AU Personality Differences: While Napstablook is still timid and an introvert, because they've traveled around so much they're less fearful in social situations. They still tend to yeet themselves out of conversations and situations if they get too uncomfortable though, but they're brave enough to work in busy dance clubs.
Element: Shadow
