Applications v.3

THIS IS AN OLD POST. IF YOU WISH TO SEE THE CURRENT APP PAGE, PLEASE GO HERE.

Okay so application is a very strong word and not entirely accurate, but it's a term we all know so bear with me. This is the page where you officially submit your character information for the game! Apps will not really be judged on its contents but more making sure everything fits into the setting of the game. If you want more information on the setting, please check out the FAQ!

To see the previous app page, you can find it here: Year 1 (2022) | Year 2 (2023)

How do I join the game?
This app page is currently open! Apps can be submitted by players at anytime. Apps are reviewed by the mod on the first and third weekend of the month, ending at 6pm EST on Sundays (so if you submit an app at 9pm on Sunday it won't get read until the following relevant weekend). Please check the calendar to see when apps will be processed next.

To join the game, you'll require an invite from another player. Players can invite up to 2 people per month. To invite someone, have the person apping list the name of the person inviting them, and then the inviter should comment to their app confirming the invite. Apps that do not have a invitation confirmation will not be looked at by the mods. If a confirmation does not come within two app processing weekends of the app's submission, it'll be automatically rejected.

A new player must be in the game one full month from their app acceptance date before they can invite another player (meaning if their app was approved on September 18th, they can invite people starting October 18th). This is so the new player has a chance to get acclimated to the game and community enough to assist any friends they later invite to the game.

Players who were in the game but who dropped/were swept will not need an invite to rejoin the game for up to one month after their drop date. After that month, they will require an invite to rejoin.

Once you submit your app, you'll get a welcome comment confirming that everything is a-okay. Sometimes revisions will be requested if there is a need to fix with power purchases or possessions.

Is there a player/cast cap?
There are a couple caps! The first cap ia an overall player cap. Kaisou allows a total of 75 players. Should we ever reach cap, apps will close until openings become available.

The second cap is on the number of players with an OU (original universe) character. To make sure OU characters do not dominate the game, there is a current limit of 35 OU players. At the start of each month, we will make sure there are at least 2 OU player slots open so new players get a chance to app an OU. To keep one cast from dominating the limited OU slots, there is an OU cast cap of 6 OU characters per cast.

Finally, there is a total cast cap of 14 characters.

PLAYER SLOTS: 25/75 filled.
OU PLAYER SLOTS: 14/35 filled.

Casts near or at Cap:
Final Fantasy XIV - 4/6 OUs NEAR OU CAP
Honkai Star Rail - 13/14 NEAR TOTAL CAP

What kind of characters do you allow?
Most things! Canon characters, Original characters, CRAU, AU characters - the list goes on. Double characters are also allowed so long as the doubles are notably different from one another (examples: MCU Peter Parker and Into the Spider-verse Peter Parker would be fine as they are two clearly different interpretations of the character. Alternatively, a canon version of a character and an AU version of the same character would be fine as long as the AU causes a notable difference in the character). Customizable protagonists and characters from canons with different story routes are allowed, and any characters with differing story routes would be considered AUs from one another.

The only requirement for a character is that they do require a consistent canon history. This is because many of the plot events and mechanics deal with memories and connections to their previous life (or current life if an OU). If you wish to app a mascot character that doesn't have a specific canon background (a vocalid, clippy, the trix rabbit, etc) - you are welcome to write an OC that's inspired by the character with a clear established background to work from. Characters who have multiple canon iterations (like Link from Legend of Zelda or Sonic the Hedgehog) will need to pick a single iteration to pull their canon background from. Characters must also have been properly introduced (not just a quick cameo) in their canon for at least one month at the time of apping.

How many characters can I play at a time?
You can play up to four active characters at a time! Only two of these characters are allowed to be Original Universe and there is an overall OU player cap as mentioned above. You may only play 2 characters from the same canon.

Players who have been in the game consistently for one year (it doesn't have to be with the same character, just the player themselves is consistently in the game) and has never been contacted by the mods about their activity will gain two additional slots so they can app 6 characters total. Their OU slot will also increase by 1, allowing them to app up to 3 Original Universe characters.

How frequently can I submit an app?
There is no time restraint on the first two characters you app. If you join the game with the intent of playing two characters, you can app them both immediately or wait it out! However after you app your second character, you will require to wait one month between each new character app (so if you app your second character on March 2nd, you will need to wait until April 2nd to app a third character). This wait time applies even if you drop a character.

Should I include content warnings on my app?
If you are asking this question, the most likely answer is yes! These apps are not only read by a human app mod, but it's also linked on the taken list as their character info, so we cannot control who reads the app. So it is usually best practice to add a content warning if your app covers any content that may be seen as triggering, just so no one is blindsided by the app's contents.

The content warning should be done in a bold and red font so it is clearly visible and is specific about the kind of content it's warning about.

Examples of content that may require a content warning include: Abuse, Child Abuse/Neglect, Animal Abuse/death, Sexual misconduct of ANY variety, Drug/Alcohol abuse or addiction, common phobias (spiders, sharks, plane crashes, etc), human trafficking, gore, torture, suicide/self-harm, and more. Basically if you feel it's something that may be triggering to another player or the mods reading, please add a content warning just to be on the safe side.

As an aside, if your character has a history of abuse, that's okay! However, when going over their personal history we ask that you not go heavy on the details of the abuse, especially when it's a case of abuse that could feasibly happen in the real world. There are human moderators that have to read through your app, and reading a detailed account of child abuse can be A Lot. It's okay to acknowledge in their backstory that abuse happened, especially if it's a major influence to why the character are the way they are, but just keep it to barebone descriptions.

What type of characters can I play in this setting?
At this time, brand new players have the option of choosing between Normal AU, Paranormal AU, and Original Universe. Players who have been in the game at least 3 months also get the option of apping characters from the Black Order, POKEGO, Zodiac factions or a "Ronin". Details for each category are below:

Normal Modern AUs
Normals AU are exactly what it says on the tin: they're normal people. These characters have lived entirely normal lives on modern day Earth. Up until the day they joined the Libra app (aka when they join the game), they've been completely oblivious to anything strange about the world. Even if something paranormal-related did happen to them, their memories remember it as a more mundane event (for example if they got attacked by a monster, they'll remember it as a dog attack) - and it's only once they join the app may they remember how those events occurred. For the most part, their AU backstory should consist of things that could reasonably happen in a modern day Earth setting.

Upon acceptance, Normal AUs will be allowed be given 9 extra regain points (in addition to the base 4 everyone gets, so 13 points total) to spend as they wish. Any regains purchased will ICly come into effect after they join the game.

Paranormal Modern AUs
Paranormal AU characters are characters who also grew up in modern day Earth, but have experienced supernatural occurrences throughout their lives. Their experiences with the supernatural can vary wildly as long as it fits into the setting of Kaisou. Maybe they've been raised by a family aware of the supernatural, or they started as normal people and ended up crossing paths with the paranormal at some point in their lives. They may even be involved with a player-run faction (aka any faction that's not Zodiac, Black Order or POKEGO), or a new faction that you made up yourself!

These characters will get 9 extra points to be spent on elemental powers (aka Kaisou original powers) they obtained during their AU backstory. These points cannot be used for canon regains (though you are welcomed to purchase elemental powers that are similar to their canon powers, or pick something entirely new!). These points can be used for monster traits, but you need to include some explanation for why they are a monster (were they cursed? An experiment? Are their parent a monsterfucker?) and they will need to be at least half-human.

Paranormal characters can also be possessed. You can read more information about on the possesion info page.

Original Universe
Original Universe characters hail from their original world and find themselves arriving into this world through the Spirit Realm. They will not lose any memories of their canon lives, will maintain their appearances no matter how anime, and are allowed to have any items that they could reasonably carry on their persons upon arrival without any enchantments (in other words, no cheating with a mary poppins bag). If they were carrying a magical bag, the bag will split open in the Spirit Realm and all the contents will come spilling out on the ground, forcing your character to grab only what they can carry.

Power wise, OUs will be alotted 6 regain points to spend on retained abilities. Feel free to consult the regain pagefor clarity on the point values. Any powers that are not retained will have to be purchased later using regain points.

Black Order/POKEGO AU
PLEASE NOTE: Due to this character type requiring a thorough understanding of the game setting, these options is only available for players who have been in Kaisou for at least 3 months.

Players are limited to only have ONE character from each faction at a time (meaning you can have one Black Order member and one POKEGO member- but not more than one in each faction) UNLESS their second character started as another character type and are undergoing an apprentice program. Brand new players, don't worry about that too much.
.

Black Order/POKEGO are AU characters who started either as Normal or Paranormal AU characters. However, unlike the other AU types who only begin regaining canon memories once they join the game, these characters began remembering their past lives and regaining canon abilities at an earlier point in their life - usually after a traumatic or high stress incident. Sometime shortly after they began remembering their past lives, they were approached by one of two factions:

THE BLACK ORDER: A secretive group devoted to protecting and preserving the Spirit Realm, particularly any realms that are considered sacred, by dispatching agents known as "Guardians" to manage supernatural incidents of note. While it varies from member to member, the Black Order aren't exactly known for being a chill group. Some Guardians join willingly while others were "strongly persuaded" to join (though after a recent rebellion, those who wish to leave the Order are now granted permission to leave). While you don't need to be religious to be part of the Black Order nor does it adhere to a particular religion, it is said to be funded by numerous religious denominations around the world. Thanks to that, Black Order Guardians will enjoy free housing (within reason, no mansions) and a comfortable salary to live on - though some may get a daytime job/go to school to keep up a persona. After a recent rebellion, the Black Order is under new leadership who tend to rule more reasonably than the previous. Thanks to the constant unusual activity in Kaisou, they have decided to send members to Kaisou and join the app in order to investigate what's going on.

POKEGO: A group devoted to the research and understanding of the Spirit Realm. All in all, they tend to be less hardcore than the Black Order and all members join willingly, though sometimes in the past it was a means to avoid joining the Black Order. POKEGO is less structured than the Black Order, with the group actually being made up of several different cohorts that focus on different areas of study related to the Spirit Realm (such as flora, fauna, gate locations, gods, etc etc). For a long time they held a positive reputation in paranormal circles, but that recently took a serious hit thanks to Professor Willow and his faction's deeds. Thanks to that, a lot of sponsors (including Zodiac) have pulled out and funding has really dried up. This means POKEGO researchers will have to find their own housing and find ways to make ends meet (in other words, you're broke). These days, the remaining members of POKEGO are working towards rebuilding their organization and repairing the bridges that have been burned.

Characters apped will either be in the role of Black Order Guardian or POKEGO Researcher that's been sent to Kaisou to help investigate the situation, and will join the Libra app in the spirit of cooperation with Zodiac (and to keep an eye on everyone). It's up to you if the character had already lived in Kaisou for some time, or is completely new in town. While both of these groups are made up of people who remember their past lives, before the events of Kaisou it was well understood among these group that regaining past memories was an extremely rare occurrence (like 1 in a few million rare), that memories of their past lives were to be kept hush-hush from outsiders - and anyone who refused to comply with the rules would have their past memories erased and powers sealed. So some may not be entirely sure how to feel about these Zodiac app users that have a lot less rules to follow. Typically POKEGO/Black Order characters should be at least 16 years of age. If you wish to app a younger one, they will be considered a trainee and special accommodations will need to be made (aka you need to talk to the mod about it).

Due to their special situations, Black Order/POKEGO characters can start with 20 regain points for their pre-purchased powers (versus the 9 that paranormal AU get). These regain points can be used for both Kaisou elemental powers AND canon regains. Black Order/POKEGO characters may also be possessed, which works the same way as Paranormal AUs.

POKEGO characters will be allowed 1 free pokemon that's up to horse size (and isn't a legendary) upon apping. This Pokemon will be completely depowered, but for 1 point you can unlock up to 4 of the abilities that are available for the Pokemon at Level 1 in the games. Any abilities beyond that would cost the same rates as if those abilities were on a player character. Additional pokemon would cost the same rate as a magical animal companion (aka based on size and they'd start with their level 1 abilities).

Zodiac AU
PLEASE NOTE: Due to this character type requiring a thorough understanding of the game setting, this option is only available for players who have been in Kaisou for at least 3 months.

Want to live out life as a corporate employee? Join Zodiac! Players are limited to ONE Zodiac employee at a time. Exceptions are made if a character decides to start working for Zodiac, but why would you.

Much like the Paranormal AUs, you were aware of the supernatural. But unfortunately, unlike the other AUs who received powers that'd make them protagonists in their own right -- you got the short end of the stick in the ways abilities manifested in you. Not only did your abilities make it difficult to maintain a life among normal citizens, but you were overlooked by elite groups like the Black Order and POKEGO.

Instead, you had to make peace with being an NPC in another hero's story and took a job with Zodiac. You have spent the past few months or years working for Zodiac and if you're particularly unlucky, helping clean up any messes the Libra app users have been leaving. Sure, it's a soulless corporation, but at least it's got dental for your fangs.

Then one day, the Libra App will appear on your personal devices and you'll begin recalling past memories. Perhaps your time as protagonist has come after all.

Due to their less-than-special situations, Zodiac characters start with 4 regain points for their pre-purchased powers (versus the 6 that paranormal AU get). They will also be allowed two free appearance regains (but nothing that gives them extra powers). Possessions are allowed, but they are possessed by lesser beings (as such, their contract price can be less severe if desired).

If you wish your Zodiac character to have more starting abilities, or you just like making them suffer, you can have them start off with flaws that will contribute to their overall pre-purchased point pool.

Players are limited to play one Zodiac employee at a time for now.

Zodiac Characters can have their apps submitted now, but won't make an IC appearance until July 2024 unless given mod permission.

FINALLY, PLEASE BE AWARE THAT DUE TO THEIR FACTION'S REPUTATION, ZODIAC CHARACTERS ARE LIKELY TO HAVE A GOOD DEAL OF NEGATIVE CR FROM OTHER CHARACTERS EARLY ON. Please be prepared to deal with this should you choose to app from these factions. Even if your character is a nice person, they will likely have to work extra hard to gain the trust of those around them.

Ronin AU
PLEASE NOTE: Due to this character type requiring a thorough understanding of the game setting, this option is only available for players who have been in Kaisou for at least 3 months. In addition, it is highly recommended you discuss your plans for a Ronin AU with the mod team beforehand, as this is the app route the app mods will be strictest about.

Players are limited to only have ONE Ronin character at a time.
.

Much like POKEGO/Black Order characters, Ronin are AU characters who started either as Normal or Paranormal AU characters. Just like POKEGO/Black Order, these characters began remembering their past lives and regaining canon abilities well before the Libra app ever came into their lives - usually after a traumatic or high stress incident.

However unlike their Black Order/POKEGO counterparts, their life path deviated. Perhaps wanting to avoid being under any faction's thumb, your character spent their life living on the run - trusting no one and never staying in one place for long. It's only when you began to hear stories of Kaisou, about the folks who have destroyed Krusnik and taken a stand against the Black Order, did you decide maybe this was a refuge safe for you.

Or perhaps you shared a much worse fate than your roaming brethen. Perhaps you were taken in by the old leadership of the Black Order, but was deemed unfit for Guardian duties for some reason. Instead of sealing your abilities and memories, you were locked away by the Black Order either for safe keeping or for research. Some of these prisoners were put under a magical sleep during their time, only awakening now to a whole new world. Or, if you were very unlucky, you were awake the entire time and only now are getting to taste freedom.

Finally, Ronin status may also apply to former Black Order members who have left the organization. Ronin status will also be applied to any Black Order members who decide to leave, but more on that later.

Due to their special situations, Ronin characters can start with 20 regain points for their pre-purchased powers (versus the 9 that paranormal AU get). These regain points can be used for both Kaisou elemental powers AND canon regains. Ronin characters may also be possessed, which works the same way as Paranormal AUs.

Noctis Lucis Caelum | Final Fantasy XV

Other Characters: Edward Kenway, Lucy Westenra, Leon S. Kennedy

Character Name: Noctis Lucis Caelum
Canon: Final Fantasy XV
Canon History: here!
Canon Personality:

ROYAL. Noctis is the Prince of Lucis, and although he often downplays this, you never quite forget it around him, as he holds himself in a different manner from his non-royal friends. As the heir to the throne, Noctis has grown up fully aware of the expectations laid on his shoulders, and while he's rebelled against quite a good chunk of it, ultimately he's willing to cleave to the responsibilities of the role of prince and later king, and to fulfill the duties laid on him by the title.

COMPASSIONATE. Noctis is a deeply kind person who puts his neck on the line to help other people. Many side quests center around helping someone out, whether it's retrieving hunters' dog tags for their grieving loved ones or fetching red frogs for a curious scientist or even just giving a potion to a guy whose cry he heard while passing by. He treats most people he meets as people and not just subjects, and his best and closest friends as equals and even brothers.

SLACKER. Like any other young adult, Noctis would love nothing more than to sleep, fish, eat junk food, and play video games all day. While some of this is him deliberately playing it up for effect and to seem like a Cool Guy, the rest really is just what he's like as a person—he starts complaining if he hasn't had enough sleep, and his friends tease him when they stop by a fishing spot because they know he'll insist on just spending hours fishing. He's a very casual guy who doesn't stand on ceremony much of the time, with his friends addressing him by name and most people not even realizing he's, you know, the actual prince.

GRIEVING. Well, he has a lot to grieve. His home is destroyed, his father and his fiancée Lunafreya are both dead, and little by little the life he thought he'd live is slipping past his fingers with each new blow. This grief manifests in many ways throughout the game, notably as a desire for vengeance and also as avoidance and isolation. He is not great at talking about his pain even to his closest friends, to the point where this causes a rift between him and them on at least one occasion—Gladio gets furious at him and calls him a coward for not getting over his fiancée dying in front of him, and while Noctis tries to deny it, it's clear her death still affects him.

AVOIDANT. Noctis's default coping mechanism, which comes through more and more as he cracks under the pressure of his destiny, is to just avoid talking about it. He bottles up his feelings and self-doubt (am I good enough?), and leans on being perceived as a cool, aloof slacker whenever possible, when in reality he is a huge mess of anger and grief and pain, and all those feelings have to go somewhere. This has the side effect of making him unable to quite see his friends' pain, because he's so focused on his own, whether by dwelling on it or by Not Thinking about it, that he misses seeing the emotional suffering his friends are going through.

GENIAL. While outwardly stoic and aloof, when you actually get to know him, Noctis is a friendly if slightly awkward person who likes to talk to people, and when you hit on his interests he can get incredibly enthusiastic, bordering on outright geeking out (see: The Entire Assassin's Festival, which sadly is not canon to this portrayal). He's downright chatty and playful around his friends, trading jokes and puns back and forth with them and bantering in the middle of fights and dungeons, although he's one of their less talkative party members.

HEADSTRONG. Noctis can be a stubborn, determined little asshole when he puts his mind to it. Often he's happy enough to just go with the flow, but when he's hell-bent on something, he's willing to go against even his friends' good advice, even if they only have his best interests at heart. This can manifest in serious things like his desire for vengeance against the empire and, on a personal level, the empire's chancellor, or in very funny petty things like his total refusal to eat vegetables.

AU Name: Noctis Cameron
AU Age: 30 (age by endgame in canon)
AU Birthday: August 30, 1993

AU History:
- Noctis was born on August 30, 1993, to a politician and a nurse. They chose "Noctis" for a name because they were both very keen on Latin. By all accounts, he had a happy childhood, growing up a very cheery and animated child. However, he lost his mom around eight years old in a car accident that also seriously injured him, paralyzing him for a long while.
- He spent a while in the hospital and in convalescence. In between the PT sessions and a lot of catching up with school, got into playing video games and ended up interested in the development side of things. He also became somewhat isolated from his peers, a state of affairs that would last for much longer than he would've liked, as his father would uproot them from Kaisou and move to Washington, DC. Eventually, he started to lean into it, cultivating an image as an aloof loner throughout high school.
- He was...Extremely Online during that time, often playing video games with the friends he made online. He was encouraged to start making his own games around this time, and he ended up releasing a crude little fishing game that, while it didn't gain much traction, did get him a bit of attention.
- He was never quite as well-known as his father, who became a Congressman at one point before retiring in the 2010s, but he was always careful of his actions in public knowing how they might reflect on his dad. As he wasn't part of a royal lineage in this life, though, he had more freedom to choose the path he wanted, so he picked game development.
- In college, he started interning for a triple-A gaming company that he went to work for. He met some friends there who encouraged him to have some fun and ended up starting a D&D campaign with them. A year or so later, that campaign would become a podcast, something Noctis would end up notable for—while it's not to the levels of Certain D&D Webshows, Noctis has started getting people who recognize him at fandom cons for the podcast.
- He plays a half-elf light cleric on the podcast, btw.
- He was unceremoniously laid off from the gaming company he’d worked a long time for, like over a decade or so, in mid-2023. To say this was something of a shock is putting it rather lightly. Now Noctis and one of his D&D friends are trying to get a new, smaller company off the ground, and Noctis in particular has been noodling around with a fishing game.
- Fast forward to November 2023: during the demon invasion, Noctis's father is killed. Noctis, his life already in upheaval, moves back to Kaisou in the next month to identify the body and get his father’s affairs in order.

AU Personality Differences:

COMMONER. Without the crown weighing heavy on him, Noctis no longer has the same expectations of taking on his father's responsibilities as king. He is much more outwardly friendly as a result, and his casual demeanor comes off more naturally. He does try to seem like a Cool Guy, but it's not to the same degree, and bringing out his geekier, more enthusiastic side is a lot easier now. Just ask him about his campaign or about this new gaming engine he's using for his fishing game. Go on. Ask.

MATURE. He's thirty, and he lived through his twenties to get there, unlike the last time around. He has more life experience now, and is more settled in his own skin, at least by default. He is also quicker to take hold of responsibilities, as he now is starting up an indie game company with his friend post-firing. With the one-two punch of losing his job and losing his father, though, the grief's hitting him hard, and his old coping mechanisms of Avoiding The Shit Out Of His Feelings is making a comeback, if it ever even left.

Character Name: Ganymede
Canon: Olimpos
Canon Point: Final Chapter (Post-11.5)
Age: 3,150
Birthday: May 9th
History: Ganymede was born as a Prince of Troy, as the youngest to two brothers, and when he walked the world he was said to be the most handsome of them all. It was to the point that when he turned seventeen, he was kidnapped by the Greek God, Apollo, to be brought before Zeus, due to machinations that Zeus himself had (for entertainment). Though, in doing so, Apollo purposefully killed one of his older brothers (the middle child) in the process, and when Apollo brought Ganymede to Zeus' miniature garden, Ganymede vowed to escape as well as kill Apollo for what he had done. Though, unfortunately, that wouldn't come to pass.

To make it worse, he had been granted immortality...something else Ganymede didn't desire in the first place. He finds out that even being killed or stabbed doesn't invalidate it, through anyone's actions, or otherwise.

When he meets Zeus, it is only rather briefly at first, since the god's descent and his presence is almost enough to cause Ganymede to cease to exist.

A few thousand years later, Apollo sends a human named Johann Ludwig Heinrich Julius (nicknamed Heinz), to interact with Ganymede and "convince" him that there is an exit in the miniature garden Apollo has trapped Ganymede within. However, this is just to cause some sort of entertaining show, more or less; though through it the blond-haired male learns that his homeland no longer exists as a result of people coming to invade and sacking the land. He also learns that Apollo said to Heinz, should he be able to convince Ganymede of there being an exit, the god would help him be wed to his beloved, Mina.

The first time Heinz attempts to drag Ganymede to where the 'cliff' is in the garden, which is supposedly where the exit is, Ganymede reacts violently to the point where he strikes out with his dagger and cuts his own arm off to get away from Heinz. Of course, it hurts, but it doesn't seem to matter, since it inevitably grows right on back thanks to his immortality.

Ganymede can only watch as Heinz tells him that he's going off to bring "evidence" that there is a cliff while he just eyes him with disdain. Of course, to his surprise, the man comes back with evidence:

Dirt from the cliff itself (since dirt can't be normally reached even just by walking around in the miniature garden).

Of course, it mattered little, since even though Heinz had convinced Ganymede to come with him to see the cliff for himself, all Ganymede could see was an endless sea of flowers and no exit. Instead, he screamed at Heinz to leave him be and that is what happened.

Following that, Ganymede spends most of his time in the miniature garden speaking to Apollo, and at one point he even meets Hades, the god of the underworld -- the god informs on their second meeting that Ganymede he can 'leave' once he becomes mad enough to be unable to understand language itself. In essence, insane to the point where he is no longer considered to be "alive" as Hades explains to Ganymede that it is no different. In the end, Ganymede elects to remain in the garden, not wishing to go insane just to leave or ask for help in having himself die to escape...for now, that is.

Later on, he agrees to be a part of the 'plan' between Hades and Apollo to destroy the world due to his supposed influence over 'Zeus', partially out of spite, potentially seeing it as a way out, despite the consequences.

Character Name: Nicholas D. Wolfwood
Canon: Trigun Maximum
Canon Point: Pre-canon, shortly after being taken in by the Eye of Michael
Age: 10 ( ish )
Birthday: He has no canon birthday — not that I think he would care much either way — so I've given him a headcanon one of November 9th. Why not.
History: Manga entry on the Trigun wiki as well as Wikipedia which, admittedly, has very little information on Maximum itself but since he's pre-canon it's a bit of a moot point, I believe? He grew up in an orphanage before being recruited by the Eye of Michael. He helped take care of the other kids. He carved a wooden bird for one of them before she was adopted. That's pretty much it.

Personality: He might be a kid, and a small one at that, but there can be a lot of personality tucked away inside a small package.

Outwardly, it can be very easy to dismiss him as another surly, reserved child that really doesn't want much of anything to do with you. He's more or less content to keep to himself unless there's something needed of him — like, say, a younger kid at the orphanage is having a rough go of it, or one of the literal babies won't stop crying — and that typically means he can come off as standoffish, maybe a little bit avoidant, and there are quite a few layers you're going to have to go through to get to the meat of who he really is. Can't learn much about someone when they're quiet more often than they aren't, right? Right.

( He has no problem being mouthy, though, make no mistake about that. He can be Very Opinionated ( ™ ) and Outspoken when there is something he feels rather strongly about, but what can a ten-year-old have such strong opinions about — we just don't know. Rocks, maybe. What kind of dirt makes the best mud pies. Why does this one only stop crying when I hold her. It's really anyone's guess. Just expect him to be sassy about it more often than he isn't. )

It's clear from the way he helps out with the other children at the orphanage that he's a natural-born caregiver, even if he would probably disagree with that assessment, because he never asked to be given that role. He just kind of fell into it, but at the bottom of it all it gives him a purpose and makes him feel useful, which is helpful when you don't really know where you're supposed to fit into the world. He cares very, very deeply when he finds himself attached to someone ( or someones, plural ) and he may not trust very easily from the start — that's something you're going to have to earn, bucko — but once you've broken down that wall, too? You've got yourself someone that will have your back whenever you need him. That is, at least, something that follows him into adulthood no matter how much his moral compass ends up off-course.

He's curious like many others his age might be expected to be, but he's more likely to remain aloof about something he has an interest in if someone is paying too close attention to him. Gotta play it cool! Can't get too excited about anything! Someone might get the impression that he's, gasp!, an actual child with the permission to be excited about childish things. Like carving things out of wood. He's not unfriendly by any stretch of the imagination, but it's going to take getting past all those prickly layers for him to be much of anything other than tentatively cautious. Think … black cat energy. Black kitten energy. That's him.

All in all, he's not a bad kid. He would just prefer you not pay too close attention to him.

Time of Arrival to Kaisou: Around app submission, so the first week of February.
Items: Clothes on his back, a few toothpicks and a small pocket knife in his pockets. Brattitude ( yes, you read that right ) and a smarmy grin that'll probably break hearts in a couple of years.
Retained Abilities: He doesn't really have any canon abilities yet other than minimal firearm training courtesy of the Eye of Michael, whittling — maybe he can walk and chew gum at the same time. ( Please, god, don't take me seriously. I don't even think I'm funny 99% of the time. )

Other Characters: Varian, Zulius & Persephone.

Character Name: Husker (Husk). His real name (AKA his human name before he died and the one that binds him to Alastor) is currently unknown.
Canon: Hazbin Hotel
Canon History: You're a loser, Baby. TW: Alcoholism, gambling addiction, ownership of another person.

Canon Personality:
🎲 Grumpy - Husk died a grumpy old man and he has continued his afterlife in the same bent. He's not especially social and prefers his own company. He tends to react to his found family with irritation, unwilling to put up with their shenanigans. He's quick to anger and holds nothing back when he rants at or otherwise warns off the others if they push his buttons too much. He's very standoffish and easily irritated. His demonic form as a cat suits his personality well.
🎲 Apathetic/Lazy - After who knows how long of being chained to one of the most powerful demons in Hell who treats him like a pet, Husk is extremely demotivated to do anything but drink and gamble. His contract is iron-clad and he sees no way out of what is a humiliating experience for someone who used to hold as much power as he did. As a result, he lives his ordered servitude as the hotel's bartender and front desk clerk largely through malicious compliance, doing the bare minimum required through Alastor's orders.
🎲 Mistrustful - Husk doesn't open himself up to people easily, especially after everything with Alastor. He despises people who aren't authentic- quick to call out Angel's habit of masking his pain with his outlandish personality. If people want to have a connection with him, he expects them to real with him first- otherwise, he will keep them at arm's length forever. Once someone HAS earned his trust, he is fiercely loyal. He just expects people to earn that loyalty with authenticity first.
🎲 Observant - Husk reads people extremely well. After only a few conversations, he can work out the heart of a person- what motivates them, what weights they carry with them. He argues this skill away with the reasoning that people "always want to bitch to the bartender", but it's clear he pays attention to what people say to him and figures out what makes them tick from doing so. This skill makes him able to figure out ways to push people to be better- or at the very least, accept themselves for who they are.
🎲 Empathetic - Husk DOES want the best for the very few people he cares about. He's not about rainbows and puppies and promises that things will get better (they have Charlie for that) - but what Husk provides is realistic support and an unjudgemental ear to listen. As he explains to Angel, their situations are god-awful, and things are likely to continue to be god-awful- but what matters is that they don't face the god-awful things alone. He doesn't make promises he can't keep, instead, he provides steadfast support from a place of understanding. Apathetic, pessimistic support, to be sure- but support all the same.
🎲 Self-Aware - He is very much aware that his own addictions have made his life (and afterlife) considerably worse off. He doesn't paint himself as anything special, nor does he pretend his own issues don't exist. He doesn't know how to help himself out of his problems, mostly because he has given up on trying to fight them, but he is willing to admit that they're there.
🎲 Loyal - Husk is exceptionally loyal to those who have earned it. When given the option to leave the hotel, which was about to be Ground Zero to what they assumed would be an absolute slaughter, he chose to remain. Even when he thought Alastor was dead, and his orders to remain as the bartender would be mooted, he chose to stay to help Charlie and the others rebuild. Even in the battle itself, he kept putting himself in harm's way to protect his found family. He's got to be a cat about it, and is unwilling to openly admit how much he cares about people. He usually tries to brush it off by saying he's "used to" people or that he doesn't have anything better to do than hang around them. But you can see from space how much he loves them, he's fooling no one.

AU Name: Husker Agapov (he still just goes by "Husk")
AU Age: 62
AU Birthday: 28th October.
Faction: The Black Order

AU History:

- Born to Russian immigrant parents, Husk grew up in Las Vegas, as his parents worked in the casinos there. Growing up in the weird mixing bowl/petri dish that is the Las Vegas Strip, he ended up picking up a ton of languages, he's a real polyglot. He also learned how to read people exceptionally well- by observing them while they gambled away. It started by understanding their tells, but as he got older, he realised it was more a knack for understanding people in general.
- It was in Las Vegas that he got into stage magic, fell in love with it, and got very skilled in sleight-of-hand. As he got into his late teens and early 20s, he started to play shows in some of the smaller casinos. It's one of the few things that gave him genuine joy.
- Unfortunately, as he came into adulthood, he picked up the less-desirable traits that inhabit Las Vegas. Namely, a gambling and a drinking problem. He'd use his sleight-of-hand skills to cheat at poker, as lady luck was never really on his side for such things. In his early 20s, he hustled the wrong people (mobsters, he hustled mobsters) in a poker game and was bundled off into the desert to be shot.
- Just before he was killed, his demonic form (a winged, bipedal cat), his powers, and some past memories flared up in him. Using some cards in his pocket, he used his powers to blow up the mobsters who were out to kill him. As a result, he found himself alone in the desert, very much not human, with confusing past memories surging in his mind, surrounded by blown-up corpses. Not a great end to a night, really.
- Naturally, The Black Order swept in and "recruited" him- he didn't have much choice. If he had his memories sealed, he'd only end up with more of the mob out of his blood and without any of his powers to protect him. So, disgruntled about it, he became a Guardian. He never really bought into their whole spiel- and avoided the Zealots like the plague- but it was better than being dead. Most of the time.
- He did a pretty good job in his youth and got relatively high in the ranks. His skills with understanding people and his observation skills made him very good at intelligence gathering. Any normies he came across just assumed he was someone in a mascot suit hanging around, or in more modern times, someone who got lost from a furry convention. People would talk around or to him, and he'd gather whatever intel the Order wanted to bring it back to them. He would eventually gain water element abilities and used his little tarantula spirit companion (named Anthony, inadvertently giving it the real name of someone in his past life who meant the world to him) to spy for him too. No one notices a spider, after all.
- He got plenty of his past memories during his decades working with The Order. He takes a lot of comfort from them, and even if he wouldn't admit it, he kind of hopes when he dies again, he'll somehow end up back in Hell where he can see them again. He knows his world is destroyed- but Hell is Hell, right? It's nice to think he can go back to the only place he was legitimately happy in.
- His addictions never truly left him, though- no matter how many times the Order sent him out to AA and GA meetings. He'd still be functionally good at his job, and he usually managed to pull himself together enough that he seemed pretty on top of it when he spoke to his superiors, so the Order turned a blind eye for the most part.
- He mentored several young recruits- Husk had a tough love "kick a kid into a pool and they can learn to swim that way" about his teaching methods that really meshed with the Order's way of treating its Guardians as expendable. Not that Husk thought them as such, of course- not at all. Husk, despite himself, cared about the trainees put under his care immensely. But he knew what sort of life they would face within the Order, and felt sugarcoating it and pretending they weren't facing a hard time where the higher-ups didn't much care for them wouldn't prepare them at all. Better they know it for what it was than get screwed over in the future.
- One of his recruits was killed on their first solo mission and while he expected it, the Order's callous disregard for the loss of life made Husk start to spiral. He argued with them a lot over this- pushing back against their orders. His drinking got considerably worse- more than the Order was willing to ignore anymore and he was demoted numerous times.
- The last recruit he was given to mentor was a very young Lapis De Fiore- fresh from literally dying and having a billion nightmares unleashed in her head. Knowing a thing or two about dying and having an afterlife in literal hell in his past life, he helped her deal with her new life with his usual brutally honest, standoffish way. After the death of his last recruit, he promised himself he wouldn't get attached to this one. And then did the exact opposite of that, and in fact, got more attached to her than any of the others. In turn, as she got older she was there to pull him out of the gutter when he had too rough a night drinking, and made sure he had his shit together if he needed to speak to their superiors. He loves her fiercely, like a daughter, and would do anything for her- not that he willingly says it that often, of course.
- The Order certainly noticed, though - and once Lapis was off on her own as a Guardian, they dropped by to remind Husk that they had best not feel his loyalties waver again, as they finally had something they could use against him to keep him in line.
- And so he keeps working for them, gathering their intel. He tends to blow his Black Order money on his vices and is largely known as a washout who pissed away a potentially great future in the Order with booze and gambling. He does bartending work to help pay for his habits.
- He keeps hoping he'll get assigned to Florida because that's as close to retirement as he feels he'll ever get. They never assign him Florida because they know this.
- He's been sent to Kaisou to run an intel gather on just what the fuck is going on with members there. Once he realises what's going on, he will not say a damn word to the higher-ups- he'll be supportive of change in this place. He'll just keep making up convincing bullshit to try and help.

AU Personality Differences: Honestly, very little has changed. The only real difference is he's bound to The Black Order, rather than Alastor. As a result, he might be a little more inclined to hope there's a way out of his situation with TBO if someone is convincing enough. This is something he absolutely doesn't have with Alastor. He knows he's stuck in that particular hole for as long as Alastor finds it amusing to keep him alive and on a chain. Which is likely for an eternity. So his AU might allow a teeny, tiny smidgen of hope for freedom into his crusty old heart where his canon self would not.

    Other Characters: G'raha

    Character Name: Opal
    Canon: FFXIV, Warrior of Light
Canon History: General WoL info here, some added specifics:

-Opal is Viera, and grew up in a village in the Golmore Jungle
-Viera's sex is indistinguishable until they come of age, at which point males are separated and trained to be Wood-warders
-Wood-warders learn to live by themselves in the woods, with no companionship or aid, defending the outer skirts of the village from outsiders; it is a harsh training and many young men die in the process, which seeing as 80% of Viera are female to start is considerable
-Opal made it through, not much a fan of isolation but dealt with it, did good Warden things until ONE DAY THE FUCKING MOON FALLS FROM THE SKY????
-Somehow things turn out ok, but he realizes there's a.) a shit ton he doesn't know about the world and b.) christ there's a lot to defend the wood from that you can't actually stop from in the wood.
-Leaves, winds up Limsa Lominsa, trains in arcanium
-Finds out about Sharlayan, makes it his goal to go study there
-Shit Happens, Plot Happens, Suddenly A Scion, Saving the World and Shit
-(he's real pissed when he actually gets to Sharlayan and they're jerks to him for no reason)
-(and it's one of the only places he sees other Viera???? rude)
-oh and he routinely gets mistaken for female and does not bother correcting anyone
-currently mains summoner and sage, used to scholar and also archer (but not bard)

    Canon Personality:
On the surface, most people would consider Opal to be a quiet, stoic figure, who only speaks when he needs to and doesn't wear his emotions openly. Why this is sort of true, it hides a lot of who he is behind his years of Warden training- and the stoicism is mostly a relic of him not knowing what the fuck people were talking about and/or how he was supposed to react when he first starting living out of the Woods. City people are weird and confusing.

Beneath the surface, he is still thoughtful, still the type to weigh his words before speaking, but he is unabashedly curious about anything and everything and pretty much wants to learn as much about the world and the people in it as he can. This manifests in a warm vivaciousness whenever he manages to throw off his guard enough to actually talk to people without second guessing how he is Supposed to do things.

He, like most WoLs, is not totally comfortable being the Savior of the World and especially does not care for being the center of attention, but that does not stop him from sticking his nose into any and all problems, regardless of the size or his realistic capacity to handle them. This does sometimes lead him to get overwhelmed, and after getting through particularly busy or difficult tasks, he has been known to just fuck off into the woods for a few days to get his head back on straight.

His Warden training also likes to rear its head in one particularly annoying aspect, which is when things gets hard and overwhelming he tends to go into survival mode like he would in the Woods, which means acting like he has no friends who can help him. You can guess about how well this goes over with his friends, who definitely want to help him.

    AU Name: NA
    AU Age: 28
    AU Birthday: August 26th

AU History: Opal was born and raised in Venezuela, through what has not been a great time in history for that country! TL;DR lots of crisis, political corruption, the works. Raised by his mom and several sisters, he went to the States for college and pretty hasn't been able to go back for a variety of reasons. He was able to get some scholarships, but mostly has been working/taking out loans to afford his education, and doing side quests various side hustles to help pay for things, so they've picked up some weird skills here and there. As such, he's pretty goddamn busy, and he does at least try to practice what he preaches in terms of diet and exercise (not sleep). However, sometimes the pressure builds up too much and when they've got days off they either party hard or vanish into the fucking woods to pretend they're a survivalist for a few days.

Overall, however, their life has mostly been normal! Currently doing his residency at Kaisou's local hospital to finish up his GP training, sort of planning to do Doctors without Borders or something when he finishes. I'm sure nothing will derail any of their plans ever.

    AU Personality Differences:
Actually Enby: FFXIV does not have a mechanism through which to do anything other than the pronouns assigned to the sex of the body you pick, and otherwise this is mostly a formality since Viera give waaaay less of a fuck about gender than most other races. But yeah, Opal gets they pronouns sometimes now.

Not Literally Raised In The Woods: What it says on the tin; Opal might have a survivalist hobby, but has not actually had to live for years alone in the woods. They lack some of the knowledge and skills that come with that, but also don't have the sheer "wtf" reaction to almost every new social situation they encounter. They still have a little bit of culture shock from being non-native, but not nearly as severe.

Somehow more exhausted? Look at least the WoL sometimes gets to nap and have a beach adventure expac, Opal's been doing college while working and then med school and now a residency. Bitch doesn't sleep.

Canon Personality: 🏵️ Navia has a bright and charming personality coupled with a big heart full of kindness.

🏵️ She takes her duties as the boss of Spina di Rosula seriously, and she has won over the support of many of her subordinates with her compassion and willingness to listen to those who work with her.

🏵️ Getting justice for the people the law overlooks is her goal in everything she does with her work, not the least of which to clear her father's name. Due to how her father's trial went, she has never given up on true justice no matter how many people tried to dissuade her.

🏵️ Navia cares deeply for the people she befriends and considers family. She goes out of her way to cheer up people who are down when possible, and to give a willing ear to listen to people's woes.

🏵️ However, she can be exceptionally stubborn. It doesn't matter how dangerous it is or what the cost to herself will be, she will pursue justice.

🏵️ Navia will absolutely let someone know when they've crossed a line or if they seem to not take other people's feelings into consideration. She's torn Neuvillette a new one for how he handled her father's case.

🏵️ That said, when she's shown that they're willing to put forth the effort to better themselves and apologize, she does find it in her heart to forgive them. In the above example, she gets a bit softer with Neuvillette after they have a true heart-to-heart about her father.

🏵️ Some are... a bit harder to forgive, though, like Clorinde. Yet Navia does admit that she needs to work on that and does what she can to take steps to reconcile Clorinde's duties as a duelist with her father's motives for requesting the duel in the first place.

🏵️ When she makes a promise, Navia does her absolute best to never break it.

🏵️ She's a person who tempers her optimism with hard work.

    AU Name: Navia Desrosiers
AU Age: 28 (god I have no idea if this is different from her canon age)
    AU Birthday: August 16th

AU History: Navia Desrosiers was born in New Orleans, Louisiana. Her mother died when she was very young and her father had to raise her himself. He had some help from his close friends and colleagues, and she considered them as part of her big family regardless of blood relation. Her father worked as a private detective in the Underground and had some minor skill in magic. Navia had some magical potential herself, but it was difficult to teach her since it was hard to tell what element she was drawing from at the time. Either way, since she was aware of the Underground due to this, her father taught her many things to help protect herself.

She'd always had a dream of following in his footsteps to pursue justice and help people. Young Navia knew it would be hard work to get there, but she felt like it would be worth it. As she grew up, her conviction in that dream wavered slightly. She wondered if maybe she should go to nursing school or become a therapist instead. In the end, she knew that what she wanted to do most was help people in whatever way she could.

One day, tragedy came knocking at her family's door. On Navia's 16th birthday, she and her father went out with friends and family for a nice dinner. It was while they were on the way home that a man she'd never seen before asked to speak with her father alone. Her father seemed to know this person and told her to stay put. Navia did as she was told, up until she heard a gunshot ring out. She ran to where her father was, saw his motionless, blood-spattered body on the ground, and would've screamed if not for the second gunshot that ripped through her own body. While she was bleeding out alone, she desperately cried out with her heart and soul that she didn't want to die. Not when her father's killer was at large and could get away with a double homicide.

A kind spirit heard her plea in that moment between life and death. She said her name was Camille, and she would save Navia's life and help her get justice for her father. Navia agreed to the bargain before passing out from blood loss. When she woke up, she was in a hospital room and was told that police officers would be visiting her to take a statement. Navia told them everything, except for the bit about Camille. She wasn't even certain that she hadn't dreamed the whole thing.

Navia was given over to her godparents for custody since she didn't have any other family members willing to take her in. Camille would talk to her during those times, which was a shock at first. However, during her recovery, she began to practice with her newfound power over time and Shadow with the spirit's guidance. When she fully recovered, Navia began to search for her father's killer with dogged determination. It took her three years to compile the evidence needed for the police to arrest and convict the man, who had gone after her father in revenge for putting his son behind bars.

After the trial and sentencing, she went to college with conviction as hard as diamond to become a private detective like her father. She didn't want anyone to suffer the same way she had, and she also couldn't stand the thought of criminals with magic powers getting away with their crimes just because the law had no idea that they existed. After graduating, Navia decided that she just couldn't stay in New Orleans anymore. The memories were too painful even after all that time. She felt that a fresh start was needed, even though it would be harder. Navia decided to move to Kaisou and set up a detective agency of her own there. Hopefully, she could make her father proud.

    🌹 Exceptionally golden retriever dog-coded.
    - Like, energetic and loud and has no qualms of being seen as odd or annoying.
    - He speaks elegantly and tends to ramble because he's very passionate as a person.
    - Is definitely the type that needs to be told to stop talking or to shut up at some point.
🌹 His entire schpeal deals with Beauty in all forms.
    - He will call you beautiful, he will call your houseplants beautiful, he will call your actions, your views on certain subjects, the way you move and how you speak and how your cat shows love to you (oh my god shut UP, Argenti)- all of those, he'll consider beautiful, and mean all of it.
    - Argenti does not refer to Beauty as an appearance sort of deal, but rather the age-old classical approach of Beauty as an idea.
🌹 Honest in literally everything he says and does, and does not hide secrets (that we know of).
🌹 Devoted to the cause of the Knights of Beauty and their search for Idrila.
🌹 Loyal to those he decides are his friends-
    - And yes, most people are his friends, regardless of them having a say.
    - Basically, GET FRIENDED, IDIOT.
🌹 Despite his overly-excited and friendly nature, Argenti is headstrong in following the Knight of Beauty's Code of Chivalry.
    - He cannot stand for people being hurt for someone else's gain or selfish reasons.
    - He refuses to let people deter him if he feels he must act on something as a knight should.
    - If someone is in danger, he will do what he must in order to save them.
    - The way he acts on certain things is based on his vigorous training as a Knight of Beauty, which allowed him to destroy his own weaknesses, greed, and distractions.
🌹 If asked, he would gladly state he would choose to die as a knight in order to keep his honor and make sure Beauty is kept alive in the universe.
🌹 One of his biggest things is his need to see Idrila.
    - Since Idrila is dead, Argenti can only ever see and hear them when he hangs on the edge of consciousness and close to death.
    - This means he'll purposely go and fight as a knight in impossible and incredibly dangerous situations, so he can have the potential to see Idrila's face and hear them fully.

    AU Name: Pasquale Argento
    AU Age: 25
    AU Birthday: September 1st
    Faction: POKEGO

AU History: 🌹 Pasquale was born to a normal middle-class family in Vernazza, Italy. He was a boy with a lot of dreams and also kind of a nerd, enjoying television, anime, and video games as a collective hobby. His parents raised him with morals and standards in the hopes of him turning into a wise and smart young man. He had one sibling, his brother, and the two of them were both menaces as well as the best of friends.

🌹 As time went on, he began to imagine himself as an actor of sorts, either on stage or as a voice behind animation or games. Listening to other voice actors and actors talk about their experiences was exhilarating to him, oftentimes imagining himself taking the role of the hero, a knight, someone who would protect others.

🌹 Naturally, Vernazza, while beautiful, was not exactly a town he knew he wanted to live in forever. With a blessing from his parents, Pasquale ventured to Rome to live with his grandparents for some time. He was mostly focused on going to middle school and high school there- and while in high school, he got the opportunity to go to America on a study abroad trip for acting.

🌹 While in America, he met Noctis Cameron at a convention and the two hit it off spectacularly. Pasquale actually yelled across the vendor hall when he recognized Noctis's cosplay. The two exchanged usernames and proceeded to become good friends over the years, talking with each other up until Noctis came back to Kaisou.

🌹 About a month or so later, he then met Opal Rivera, taking a fondness to them easily. Opal reminded Pasquale of his brother, and while he tried to not be as Italian as possible at the guy, it was harder than he thought it might be. Opal, at least, seemed to take Pasquale's whole friendship stuff pretty easy.

🌹 After returning back to Rome, Pasquale graduated high school with high grades, planning to enroll in one of Rome's better universities to pursue his dream of acting and stage direction. On school breaks, his grandparents encouraged him to volunteer in local theaters, which gave Pasquale experience and a feeling of what it meant to be on stage. Wanting to be far more familiar with how things were both on and off stage, he postponed enrolling for a year and got involved in the art of theater in Rome. The entire experience was a fantastic learning lesson for him on what to work on and expect when moving forward as an actor.

🌹 Unfortunately, everything changed when he was 19. The summer before he started university, Pasquale was out late at night with a bunch of friends, enjoying the summer breeze and the memories he was making. Unbeknownst to them, a drunk driver swerved the corner too quickly on the road they were on, hitting Pasquale and severely injuring him. The driver never once stopped, instead just sped away while his friends screamed for help.

🌹 He was rushed to the hospital, where he was deemed in critical condition. Hooked up to life support and barely conscious, Pasquale would remain in this state for almost two months, trying to hold on. Knowing his chance of survival was slim, the doctors did not expect him to live.

🌹 While he was there, Pasquale teetered at death's door. At one critical moment in his mind, he remembers hearing a voice; soft, gentle, one he didn't know, yet recognized all the same. It called out to him, words barely audible, and he reached out, wanting to find where the voice came from. As he looked up, the vaguest form of someone came across his vision, hands forming to reach for him, smiling all the while.

🌹 Just as he was about to place his hand in theirs, wanting to know who this figure was, his memories came to him in full force- and he jolted awake in the hospital bed. The doctors had managed to pull him out of critical condition through a risky operation, and as the nurses ran to get the doctors to tell them he had awoken, the procedure was a success.

But for Pasquale, there was a deep sense of déjà vu, despite this life never having a brush with death. After all, he was no longer just Pasquale Argento, but also Argenti, a Knight of Beauty ever seeking the call of Idrila.

🌹 The doctors monitored him for three weeks afterwards, noting how not only did the procedure work beautifully, but Pasquale seemed to be making an almost miraculous recovery. They had expected him to never walk again and constantly be in need of an oxygen tank- yet within the first week he was beginning to take steps across the floor, and by the second week he could breathe for periods at a time without the need of extra oxygen. His organs seemed to heal themselves without much assistance at all, to the astonishment of those who took care of him.

Pasquale's parents proclaimed it was a miracle from God that he managed to recover so well, but he knew otherwise. As a Knight of Beauty in his past life, he had trained to become something exceptional, gifted with power, and this was simply par for the course for those who kept to the Code of Chivalry. This knowledge sat with him and made him incredibly unsettled as the third week seemed to pass slowly.

🌹 At the end of the week, there was a tension in the air that he seemed to pick up on. His parents were back home, waiting to hear when they could come pick up Pasquale after his discharge, but something felt wrong. One of the doctors noted that Pasquale seemed to be aware about it, and helped him to move out of his room quickly. Before he could ask questions, the doctor revealed himself to be a member of POKEGO, and told him he needed to leave the hospital as fast as he could. A Black Order member was coming for him, and he did not want to stay and find out what that meant. Pasquale was lead past the rooms, past the hospital's storage and inventory, and to the local fire exit as his escape. He didn't question much of what he was told- something seemed to tell him he could trust this man enough to do as he said. Without another word, he left, disappearing into the streets of Rome like a ghost.

🌹 Despite wanting to return home to his parents, he felt there was a risk if he did so. Not knowing where else to go, he wandered, staying in a homeless shelter for a few nights. Pasquale tried to stay out of view, keeping to himself and away from others, only choosing to finally leave when he felt he'd overstayed his welcome. This turned out to be a good idea, as he was found soon after by the same doctor who had helped him escape from the Black Order. Pasquale was surprised to see him, but the man pointed out that his partner, a Growlithe, helped to find him rather easily.

With that out of the way, the doctor explained POKEGO and all it entailed, and Pasquale didn't hesitate to immediately agree to join.

🌹 Being with POKEGO allowed Pasquale to contact his family, who were all extremely worried about him having suddenly gone missing. He explained that he was going to get assistance going through college and they were thrilled, Pasquale purposely not mentioning the whole other part of POKEGO and what had happened.

🌹 He went to college and chose instead to take a degree in botany rather than acting, which became a minor instead. While his love for theater and being a voice actor didn't lessen by any means, he knew it would be easier to keep himself out of view with a more mundane career. Once he graduated, he was under the tutelage of a mentor who gave him a Florges as a partner, and the two hit it off immediately.

A year later, Pasquale passed the final tests for POKEGO's certification and took on the name Professor Floribunda (to this day, some professors argue with him that floribunda roses are not viable as a name, but he enjoys reminding them that said species can be bred as both a bush as well as a tree).

🌹 After talking with Noctis for years on end, last November he was simply told that his friend's father had died, and then communication barely exceeded more than a few sentences at a time since. Worried for one of his close friends, Pasquale asked to be transferred to Kaisou in order to assist the professors there as well as find Noctis and see if he's well.

    AU Personality Differences:

🌹 Most of the time, he just goes by Argenti. His close friends call him Pasquale still, but he's more or less embraced who he used to be- and "arg3ntii" was his online handle for a few years anyway.
🌹 While his manner of speaking and writing has changed and become far more flowery (haha), it's not as extreme as it would be in his past life. Argenti now is a mix of formal eloquence and common slang thrown into a blender full of modern day talk.
🌹 He's less gung-ho about the whole "throw himself at dangerous things to get close to death so he can hear Idrila." Unless the situation actually calls for him to be that focused and certain in his actions, he'll honestly have no reason to do something like that.

Character Name: Hanako 'Rosalina' Nurumi, but she just goes by Rosie
    Canon: OC
Canon Point: Ninth Life, the chapter of my (non-existent) book I'm pulling Rosie from. At this point, she'll believe that she's dead too. Fun!
    Age: 338 chronologically, mid-20s physically
    Birthday: May 8th
    History: From her info page:
Born a 'defective' yokai, Rose has felt displaced her entire life. She was rejected by her pack and left to become a lone wolf from a very young age. Years of this isolation and alienation from her own kind (though she'd rather use the term 'independence') has made her a bit reluctant to rely on anyone besides herself.

She took a shady deal to enter the world of humans she'd felt a kinship with since she could remember. It led to her enslavement in a fighting ring for otherworldly creatures like her. They would battle to the death for entertainment. Her previously gained self-preservation instincts served her well there. When slated for a breeding program to further the lineage of 'champions,' she and a friend plotted their escape. He didn't make it but ensured that she did.

The damage done on their way out has put a bounty upon her head. Now, she travels under the guise of a simple roadie. It allows her to hide in plain sight whilst also following a love of music discovered during her darkest days in the fighting ring.

    Personality:
Rose is a nightmare dressed up like a daydream; despite being all sunshine and smiles, she's hiding the fact that she's literally a monster who is supposed to eat people. Emphasis on the supposed to though because, well, she doesn't want to! That's kind of the whole issue. Rose just wants to be a normal everyday person and live a boring albeit musical life.

Unfortunately, she's super paranoid about being found out because of the stigma attached to her kind and being hunted throughout her life due to what she is. so while she's super outgoing and extroverted, eventually people will realize she's not really close to them. Scaling those walls can be difficult but on the other side, Rose is a ride-to-die loyal friend who will protect those she cares for with everything she has.

Time of Arrival to Kaisou: Beginning of February for Rosie-dear!

For her labyrinth, it would likely manifest similar to the Makai that she grew up in; it's a land of concentrated magic, essentially, where reality and surrealism seem to blend. Lots of weird monsters and illusions and very easy to get lost in. This also reflects her mental state in thinking that she died and reflecting back on her mortal life and transitioning to what she'll believe is some bizarre afterlife.

    Canon History: Wiki

    Canon Personality:

🥀 Devoted and loyal. The strongest facet of his personality is Hua Cheng's complete and utter devotion to Xie Lian. From massacring 33 gods by burning a thousand temples in a single night, to literally giving Xie Lian enough power to break his cursed shackles, Hua Cheng's single-minded devotion gives him absolutely incredible power. It has allowed him to continue his existence through incredible torture.
🥀 Vengeful. Anyone who has ever so much as looked at Xie Lian wrong earns what's coming to them. And Hua Cheng can wait a very long time if necessary. He never forgets.
🥀 Violent. Arguably Hua Cheng is only cruel to those who deserve it. Even so, his violent tendencies against, say, Qi Rong, earn him a mild scolding from Xie Lian. He fears Hua Cheng will kill the people he is interrogating, but Hua Cheng simply responds that if he wanted to, they'd already be dead. Real unsettling.
🥀 Generous. Hua Cheng spends his wealth and mana freely when Xie Lian needs it. Everything he has is for Xie Lian to take, no questions asked.
🥀 Fair. He compensates the people who work under him fairly, and expects to be treated fairly in return. Those who bet against him and lose, and try to get out of their promises... well, he always takes what's his in the end.
🥀 Cocky. Hua Cheng is fine wearing the mask of a villain, knowing full well he's got a terrifying reputation and it's easier to lean into it than against it. He also doesn't give a damn what other people think. The most frustrating thing is that he has the skills to back his words up.
🥀 Clever. Hua Cheng is always three steps ahead of everyone else, much to their frustration. He has a lot of spies in a lot of places, and he's lived long enough to amass a decent amount of knowledge about everything even slightly related to Xie Lian.
🥀 Low self esteem. Despite his devil-may-care demeanor, underneath it is a boy who was bullied for his appearance and fears being judged by the one person he listens to. He expresses doubts about showing Xie Lian his true face—What if I'm some kind of grotesque monster? But it's unconditional love that convinces him to be his true self in front of Xie Lian.
🥀 Sometimes reckless. Every step Hua Cheng takes is measured and with purpose, except when Xie Lian is involved. There have been times where he will rush in to protect him or destroy his opponents not caring for the consequences.
🥀 Flexible. When things don't go the way he planned, which is often with Xie Lian, he's light enough on his feet to improvise.
🥀 Cynical. Hua Cheng despises the heavens and its gods for Xie Lian's treatment. In his opinion, everyone is human and humanity is full of sin. Even gods come to his gambling halls, after all. Basically, the world is crap. However, Xie Lian is the one beautiful thing in it, and he believes in Xie Lian's dream even if he can't envision such a world himself.
🥀 Sincere. Hua Cheng honestly doesn't lie all that much. Yes, he'll keep information away as necessary, but compared to Xie Lian who would die for a lie, Hua Cheng spends a decent amount of time uncovering long-buried truths and bringing them to light no matter the price. To say nothing of his appearance... Though he does shapeshift a lot, he tends to stay close to his true form for most of the novels, preferring for Xie Lian to get to know the 'real' him.

AU Name: N/A, Hua Cheng isn't even his real name but we'll go with it for the sake of making things easier on everybody.
    AU Age: 700+, looks 20
    AU Birthday: June 10th

    AU History:
About eight hundred years ago, during the late Jin dynasty, there was a boy born to a rather poor family. As the third son and one with heterochromia, he was often shunned and beaten by his peers. One day the bullies took things a little too far and tied him to a chariot that dragged him around. A soldier on his way to the front lines saved him from the torture with one decisive slice of his sword, severing the rope and freeing him. As the soldier was the only person who had ever shown the boy kindness, this meeting planted a seed of selfless devotion. Not wanting to go back to an abusive household, he secretly followed the soldier and his fellows to the front lines of war, intending to pledge his service forever. He ended up being discovered and kicked out, but he trained in secret, and eventually he became stronger. His natural talent with the saber helped.

He was determined to help. Taking on a fake name, he joined the army properly this time, and searched for the soldier who had saved him. And he did manage to find him—just in time to see the man cut down, defeated, and humiliated by enemy troops. He didn't see how this ended, as the teen flew into an animalistic rage and slaughtered every enemy soldier that separated him from the man he admired, heedless of his own injuries.

He staggered over to where his savior had fallen. Obviously something had happened, and there were several sets of footprints and signs of a struggle. But there was no body. Could he be alive? Could he...? Refusing to give up hope, the injured squire left the battlefield. With his savior's departure, he didn't care about fighting this stupid war anymore. Fighting at all seemed pointless... though, anyone who had wronged his savior—they deserved to die.

The boy never did return home. Despite losing his savior and having an unfortunate upbringing he seemed to have incredible luck when it came to many things. He made a name for himself in the underground of the capital city, where no one cared a whit about his appearance when he was among demons and spirits. Perhaps it was proximity to them, or perhaps he had the power all along, but he seemed to stop aging in his early twenties. He also discovered he had the ability to conjure his own friend—that is, a silver butterfly made of light.

Though the world outside was feeling the shift of a falling dynasty—as Genghis Khan was about to conquer all of Jin—the boy knew that those politics rarely affected the lives of the common folk. Taking on the alias Hua Cheng, he carved out a place for himself as an unscrupulous, heartless man who was fearsome in battle and terribly charismatic to boot. When the capital moved, Hua Cheng moved his business with it, and his following grew. He did whatever it took to protect the rejects of society who rallied around him even if he acted like he didn't care, and was ruthless to those who betrayed him. Eventually, his people became known as 'ghosts', and his group took on the name Ghost City. Throughout all of this he never forgot the reason he sought power, accumulated wealth, and looked for information. He never forgot the soldier who saved him back then. (Yes, he's a little insane.)

Fast forward several hundred years later, and Ghost City's information network has become extensive. City is an apt term, seeing as it has a lot of contacts (some more charitable than others), and its people are usually 'dead' to the normal world. Sometime recently, Hua Cheng decided to establish a new base in the United States so he could better stay ahead of what was going on in both the mundane and supernatural worlds. So, Hua Cheng has been situated in Kaisou's underground for a few years, though he may be known by any number of scary-sounding monikers. Under various aliases and disguises, he's had his hands in local casinos (legal or otherwise), illegal gambling halls, questionable brothels, and other ventures or scams that may have turned a profit. Some of these exist above ground, but the majority cater to or are populated by supernaturals. In the lawless land that is the supernatural world, Ghost City is one of the few things that has rules in it, even if it's run by a capricious immortal gremlin of a man.

AU Personality Differences: Honestly not that many. I think Hua Cheng is mildly better socialized, but that's not a high bar, here. He's also had way more brushes with death since he's ageless but he can still be killed, and it's only by virtue of his unnatural luck that he made it out okay. He has many scars to prove that it wasn't all sunshine and rainbows.

    Canon Point: Chapter 133
    Age: 150+
Birthday: May 06 until the whim of Gege says otherwise.
    History: https://jujutsu-kaisen.fandom.com/wiki/Choso

    Personality:
Amalgamate: Behold, an incarnated entity born from a madman’s atrocities. Comprised of both human and cursed spirit with some madman atrocity blood tossed in for flavour, Choso straddles both rails of his created existence, hovering between the worlds and belonging to neither. Believing that humanity would not accept his little brothers, he chose to walk the path of a cursed spirit in support of an ideal world crafted by a madman’s promises.

Fraternal duty: Siblings first. Nothing, no one, not even the world matters more than Choso’s little brothers. He switched sides in a deadly conflict the very instant he realized Itadori Yuji was related by blood, and has since dedicated his efforts to helping little bro in his endeavors. Choso’s love for his brothers is the basis of all he is, the foundation of his existence; he lives for his brothers, his brothers live for him. Even when the two died at the hands of Yuji, Choso was still able to forgive the act, citing that it wasn’t about fault or blame; it was just how brothers were.

Reticent: Outside of the fates of his brothers, very little in the world fazes Choso. Pointedly unperturbed by the horrors of life and wars raged on and by sorcerers, he greets each day and mind-boggling event with an aloof mien and a general sense of disassociation; none of this is his circus, after all, nor are these his monkeys. The only monkeys worth the effort, as ever, are his little brothers. His lack of attitude tends to render him as a strong and silent type, leaving him to fade into the background of most situations, and he harbours little to no ill will toward either humans, sorcerers, or cursed spirits unless Family is involved. 150 years as a sentient cursed object kind of refines a guy’s sense of priority.

Strategic: Just because a fella spends a century-and-a-half in a jar stuck in a spooky school’s basement doesn’t mean he can’t think on his freshly-fleshed feet. Choso adapts quickly to his surroundings and circumstances and can slap together a solid plan of battle on the go, even if it doesn’t go as expected (thanks, Okkotsu). Despite any deviations from expectation, he still manages to make do with what he’s given.

Time of Arrival to Kaisou: Immediate. The labyrinth: Shibuya Station, emergency lighting. Corridors that go nowhere, or everywhere? The signage all says the same thing and none of it will get him where he’s going.

    Items: Clothing, shoes, two hairties
    Retained Abilities:
Blood Connection: The ability to sense occasions of "transformation" in Choso's little brothers (ie. death) regardless of the distance between them.
Blood Poisoning: You know what's worse than getting some guy's blood in your open wound? That Guy's blood being a debilitating poison, too. [ Conjure Poison - Medium. 4pt ]
Blood Conversion: Thanks to being a of human and cursed spirit, Choso can convert his own spirit energy into blood, thus staving off the looming threat of Death By Blood Loss. [ Healing - Medium. 2pt ]

    Character Name: Sampo Koski
    Canon: Honkai StarRail
    Canon History: Here

    Canon Personality:
🎭 Playful and Friendly -- No matter the conversation or situation, Sampo has a habit of always taking the role of the funny guy. Even if the situation calls for a serious tone, he's someone who always needs to make playful comments or make jokes in order to bring some levity or to cut tension. He's someone who avoids difficult conversations, opting to always go for what's fun, or profitable at the time. When speaking to others--stranger and friend alike--he tends to call them playful nicknames or general terms like "bro" or "dude."

🎭 Quick Wit -- Playful and foolish as he acts most of the time, Sampo isn't fully the fool he pretends to be. He's someone who is very good at keeping out of trouble; or, at the very least, getting caught for participating in trouble. Moving so quickly as to not make a sound or even leave behind a trail, Sampo is very quick to know when is a good time to skip out on his current predicaments, or when best to insert himself into a situation in order to get an upper hand.

🎭 Loyal when it counts -- While Sampo cannot be a man who could be accused of holding true and unblinking loyalty to any one person or cause, it can be said that so long as he sees a benefit in it or when he's truly invested in a relationship with someone, he will go out of his way to help them or even put himself at a deficit or disadvantage in order to help them out. His whole M.O. usually involves turning a profit, or having fun--he will forgo these things in order to help someone out. He'll usually deflect his do-goodings at a loss to have been a long term investment, but truth is, despite how he acts, he can care about others.

🎭 Say one thing--do another. While he most certainly makes a living off doing dubious things, making scams and one-sided deals that benefit him, Sampo doesn't come across as 'Evil' so much as he's an 'Opportunist--' he also seems to be more drawn to scamming people who can afford the loss. For as much as he tries super hard to come across as the 'shady underhanded man'--he could be attributed to helping the Underworld survive, being the only person who can move between the Overworld and the Underworld to bring them necessary things that they have no other way of getting. He has a reputation, yes, but part of it seems like a farce so that people don't attribute him to being TOO much of a good guy. He still needs to make a profit sometimes, after all.

🎭 Sometimes you're a shady motherfucker-- the easiest way to get by in life is by keeping the secrets of your success close to your chest. Sampo is seen doing some rather sketchy things that can't be explained--including and not limited to being able to move between the over and underworld in Belobog--something noone else is capable of; putting people to sleep using smoke bombs, being able to somehow move without making a sound or leaving footprints--just to name a few. It's also worth noting that, despite being on a planet that's been cut off to the outside for the last 700+ years, he has knowledge of other planets that someone locked in a black hole should not have; such as knowing things about Epsilon --a different planet--and showing up in Penacony. He's a member of the masked fools--followers of Elation--and often makes comments about being 'a shadowy comic relief.'

🎭 NOT THE FACE -- While being an adept fighter with a pair of knives that he can use in close combat, almost every other part of his fighting skill is a very cowardly way of fighting. Smokebombs aside, he prefers leaving wounds that do damage without having to hit his opponent a second time--but many of his in-battle quotes suggest he might be a bit of a coward--or that he at least doesn't like fighting. Yelling things like not wanting to get hit, being unsure about approaching a strong enemy--and then making a joke that taking risks is how you win fights(with a tone that suggests he'd been worried he might not win.) Also, his main weapon being a pair of knives is one thing, but his main way of attacking is a preference to attaching them together and throwing them at range like a boomerang.

🎭 Prankster - From sending mail-in scams to people he considers friends to buying and selling artifacts that may not be actually worth their weight in credits, Sampo seems to enjoy playing tricks on people for the fun of it--not just for his money-making crimes. Everyone's a sucker if they fall for a quick trick or two. He doesn't seem at all bothered that he has a bad reputation; wanted posters of him easy to find around Belobog, not to mention how the silvermane guards are almost always on the lookout for him. He comments that his back-and-fourth with Gepard has become something he almost enjoys, these days.

🎭 Committed to the Bit -- The Customer is King--and to betray the king--well. Sampo has no problem turning customers into targets if the price is right. While he has his loyalties and the people he won't betray--that's not to say that he actually thinks of all his customers as people he needs to be loyal to. He can be bought and sold--the highest bidder gets his loyalty, for the most part. He is committed to this image of being a merchant and a salesman; the way he talks and acts is very showy and dramatic. He calls himself by name in the third person, often makes jokes at his own expense and has a very odd Business Model. Being profitable doesn't require always being the player who dominates--it's being the player who knows how to play a situation. Sampo is not above acting like a fool, demeaning himself, putting himself in embarrassing situations and making himself seem pathetic if it means, at the end of the day, he's got something to show for it.

    AU Name: Samuel Kovac
    AU Age: 37
    AU Birthday: April 1st

    AU History:
Life as a clever-minded poor kid can be hard. Especially when you have dreams of being an entrepreneur and while you have the wits and mind to be able to be successful in business, it's hard when you come from a family that can't really afford to send you to school.

Relying on a plethora of scholarships he achieved through hard work and a little shady work in highschool, Samuel Kovac managed to land himself down and center on one of the best schools he could for learning his trade. Problem was, it was a private college where he would be learning alongside what were mostly all trust fund kids and people from a society much higher than his own. This made him a little bit of a target for disrespect--but he hardly lets this get him down. Having to make his own way alongside his scholarships, Samuel became very good at making money off these trust fund kids; be it by selling things they needed and couldn't get on campus--be it cheaper snacks than what could be afforded in the onsite campus to shadier things like weed or Adderall--he always found a way to get by.

He managed to make a few friends by the time he was in his third year; getting a few odd jobs by being a delivery boy or even babysitter for people who lived on or near the campus, he was looking for a pretty easy way through school. Until he started getting a little careless with his entrepreneurial ideas. Having found a back door into one of his teacher's computer account, he managed to sneak into a server that held all the test keys for the semester, and he started selling them for 'guarenteed passing grades' to students.

This would have been a fine way of making some quick, good money, for sure--if it weren't for the fact that he sold a bad test key to the wrong trust fund kid. While test keys are the answers to a test--they don't work if they're not studied properly. The student was desperate to get at least a C to prove to his father that he was worth investing in still--so he wouldn't lose his monthly allowance he'd spend definitely on things he definitely needed. If those things are drugs and alcohol.
Failing to properly study the bought test key and getting an F, the student planned revenge on Samuel for 'not delivering as promised', and set him up on a job that was supposed to be easy. Take a box of computer parts to someone off campus and collect a nice paycheck of 400$. It was supposed to be the simplest job he'd taken that week--but upon arriving to the drop-off area, he was instead jumped by a group of hired thugs, beaten half to death, mugged, and then shot dead in the parking lot of an abandoned grocery store.

He should have died there, but instead, he was surrounded with a cacophony of bells and laughter and his life was spared--for a price. A voice whispers in his ears and offers to save him from the brink of death if, for a moment, he'd consider living his life in a much more fun way. The being called itself Aha. Desperate to live and not wanting this to be the way he ends, he begs for his life and he wakes up alone, in a pool of his own blood, with his car gone and all of his belongings either stolen or broken upon the pavement. He struggles to his feet, weak and tired, and tries to get the hell out of there, with his new companion he decides to simply call 'The Laughter'.

He decides to first go home--back to the dorm. He needed medical attention or perhaps just to clean up and get some sleep--somehow alive despite being shot in the head and feeling strange, he was approached by a pair of black-cloaked figures who call themselves member of 'The Black Order'. They hastily explain to him in no uncertain terms that they needed him to go with them to be debriefed on his survival and the 'Magic' he now had. Cooperation was the only option unless he wanted to have his life disrupted.

Fearful of being kidnapped by some sketchy cult on top of being killed, The Laughter offered him an option and his new powers activated for the first time: causing the two Order members to fall into a deep, unrousing sleep there on the street.

He's terrified--having almost died and now having seemingly killed two men; he flees, in an attempt to find a payphone to call his parents. Only to be cornered by two new Order members. Pulling the trick a second time, desperately crying out that he's sorry--It's only this time as one of the member snores loudly that he realises they fell asleep, not have died. He sits and tries to think--they won't leave him alone and his life is over. Where The Laughter once again speaks. Seeing him so scared so far has been hilarious and in return for such entertainment, it offers him a different choice.

Samuel slips into a spirit vein and disappears.

The next 15 years are a dizzying dance between Samuel and The Order -- gaining strange powers of Stealth and Shapeshifting, being able to move between worlds and learning of a 'past life' where he went by a different name. All the while learning how to live a life of someone on the run constantly from the Black Order, Samuel got very good at traveling between worlds and hiding in the various underworlds all over America, never staying still long enough for the Black Order to properly catch him. Becoming extremely good at hiding himself by changing his appearance and staying out of sight. He takes on the appearance of men, women, otherworldy beings, it doesn't matter--Still putting people to sleep if they get too close and then disappearing into a crowd. Anything to keep out of the hands of the Order as he has come to realise what their M.O. is and it's really, really not his style. At all. In order to protect those in his previous life, he decides to simply remain 'missing', even if it means they all lose a son, a friend, a family member--it's better people think he's dead, rather than to put any of them in danger by bringing the order around them.

His current settlement is in Kaisou's Undertown, going by the name from his past life, doing work for himself and for the underworld faction called Ghost City where he suddenly gains access to the Zodiac app...

AU Personality Differences: Whereas in the game he tends to keep people at arm's length and never really shows any true loyalty to anyone, keeping secrets and to himself--in this setting he's a little less divorced from those around him. He does have a certain loneliness that he wishes he didn't have, missing the ability to have things like friends and family, but always having to be on the run makes it hard.

He also is not quite as attached to this idea that he lives to the tune of the Elation that he's forced to follow and much of the time his playing pranks on people is out of necessity more than he does it for his own entertainment. He's just gotten so used to it that it's second nature, by now. The laughter has to be appeased--he doesn't want it to take over. Because it has mentioned it could, if it really wanted to.

Fortunately, Samuel's very good at being funny.

    Element: Shadow
    Purchased Powers:
    🎶Stealth (Medium) (2pts)
    🎶 Sleep Induction (Master) (4pts)
    🎶 Shapeshifting (High) (3pts)

Possession: An entity that Sampo refers to as 'The Laughter', he's possessed by a being known as the Aeon of Elation. He won't call Aha by name, but he knows well the price--given the power of the entity, two prices he pays for sharing space with this spirit are:

    1. Seek Joy - above everything else, Sampo must make a point to do things in his day-to-day that he considers fun. Be this telling jokes, or having conversations with others, to having a nice dinner or anything of the sort. So long as he's having a good time, The Laughter is appeased.

    2. Play Games - At least once a week, he has to play a trick on someone or do something to make another person laugh. Be it by means of scamming someone, a practical joke, a prank call--it doesn't matter. He can be as creative as he wants, so long as someone's made a fool.

Caelus | Honkai Star Rail | Normal AU

    [personal profile] actnormal 2024-02-26 04:46 pm (UTC)(link)
    Player Name: Fae
    Contact: Discord
Invited by: I pay rent here!!
Other Characters: August Villareal, Yusuke Kitagawa, Ash Carbide, Yuuki Shinomiya

    Character Name: Caelus
    Canon: Honkai Star Rail
Canon History: Here but a brief summary if that isn't enough:

    - Caelus is an artificial human created specifically to host something called a Stellaron, which is basically a science fantasy black hole of cursed doom. We think. We don't actually know what they are just that they're a problem. He was created because Elio, a Stellaron Hunter and something of a seer, foresaw that he would be the only one to keep the universe from ending entirely. We're still not entirely sure how this is going to happen.

    - He was raised/trained by Kafka of the Stellaron Hunters after being created, and according to Blade was fairly close to her. At some point he's given a factory reset.

    - This is about when the events of the game happen which include: waking up and getting a Stellaron shoved inside; getting a fancy baseball pat and the powers to destroy a doomsday beast; going to Jarilo-VI, getting a flaming lance, and kicking the ass of a very broken and misled leader who desperately needed to be stopped; getting roped into going to the Xianzhou Luofu on a ploy from the Stellaron Hunters and foiling most(?) of the plans of some interstellar terrorists and learning a friend is in fact a dragon; going back to Jarilo-VI to stop some fucky capitalists; dealing with a scientist doing what are probably war crimes and are at the very least VERY fucked up; and then going to Penacony, which has all the vibes of 1920s New York but theme park-i-fed and is, of course, extremely befuckened.

Canon Personality: Blank: Literally, in two different ways. As a player character, the player has a lot of control over what facets of Caelus's personality come out but due to Kafka's system reset on the boy, he is also quite literally a bit of a blank slate. We have some set-in-stone aspects that don't change, regardless of what dialogue options are chosen, but it's hard to deny that the utter lack of any sort of known history or personality is a very important aspect of Caelus.

Good: For a guy who has a science fantasy magical black hole somewhere inside him, Caelus is above all else a good guy. He wants to do things because they'll help people and he wants to help people because why wouldn't he? He bonds easily with kids, fights off thugs and bullies without a second thought, and most of the time won't hesitate to help people if they ask. There are exceptions, and this doesn't mean he doesn't get annoyed at people using him (when they're obvious about it), but he is exactly the sort of guy who would go clear across the galaxy to help a friend, no questions asked.

Naive: Related to the above points, Caelus is a bit naive (or at least seems that way at times). That sort of happens when you get a factory reset and lose any sort of social knowledge you may have gained.

Weird as Hell: The man is obsessed with trash cans, gets frustrated at a society that does not seem to have trash cans, turns that frustration on reading people's mail, and is near tears when told he cannot just open a random chest because it belongs to someone and you don't do that. I don't know how else to describe that if not "weird as hell and we love him for it". There is a reason Dan Heng begs him to act normal. That reason is Caelus would not know normal if it danced in front of him naked.

Down for a Fight: He's a good guy and beyond quirky, but he is also down to fight if the situation calls for it and for all intentions and purposes is very good at it. It's unclear if this is why so many Aeons are willing to grant him powers or if there's another reason, but the fact remains that he can beat your face in with a baseball bat or run you through with a lance and doesn't seem to have any issues switching between the two.

    AU Name: Caleb Sheridan
    AU Age: 23
    AU Birthday: April 26

AU History: Born to Astrid Cameron (a successful businesswoman and CEO) and Duncan Sheridan (a respected archaeologist), Caleb should have had a nice, somewhat privileged upbringing. This, unfortunately, was not the case as both of his parents were far too busy to actually raise their son and were hardly around. Growing up, he had a series of nannies and babysitters, the favorite of which was his uncle Regis Cameron. Caleb has more memories of staying at his house and playing games with his cousin Noctis than he has of his own parents. Things were a bit rough when Noctis and Regis moved to Washington DC, but Caleb ended up just spending his summers there instead of his after school hours.

School wasn't much better for Caleb, since although he was a good if quiet kid and a nice young boy people just...didn't want to be friends with him. He was weird, and liked weird things like video games but not the cool ones and raccoons and astrology, and in the end the only people who bothered to hang out with him were the troublemakers who felt they could use him as a get out of jail free card or a scapegoat. Even though Caleb himself never caused trouble, he was always at the center and got a bit of a reputation. This, of course, led to him having even more trouble making friends, though none of that seemed to kill the bright, friendly spirit.

Caleb graduated high school and instead of going to college like some might have expected, he went straight into the workforce. He couldn't really settle on a degree path, he said, so he wanted to work and figure it out first. He's done some of everything, or at least everything you can do without a degree, in large part because he just. Can't seem to keep a regular job for very long. This has led to him traveling around a bit, following jobs he finds online or are linked to him by the few friends he has. He always manages to find a place (which is a good thing, since he's on Noct's DnD podcast) and he's found he really enjoys traveling, so it all works out as far as he's concerned!

When he isn't traveling to find the next job, he often finds himself back in Kaisou since he did grow up there. Unfortunately, he had just left it for a seasonal job out of state when his uncle Regis was killed in November, and he's only just now able to return properly.

AU Personality Differences: Caleb is largely the same as Caelus, though as he had a childhood and his memories were not reset, he's a bit less of a blank slate. He's quieter than Caelus might be, but at the same time somehow even weirder than his canon counterpart. This is in large part thanks to the internet and not having anyone to try and mitigate the weirdness once his uncle and cousin moved to DC.

Also he dumpster dives. Like. Actively does this. Loot gremlin gonna gremlin.

    Character Name: Jing Yuan
    Canon: Honkai: Star Rail
    Canon History: Here!

    Canon Personality:
( intelligent & indolent. ) One of the widely known things about Jing Yuan is his intelligence. He is known for always have some sort of 4D chess play for any battle or strategical situation ready for whenever the situation calls for it, as though he possessed some sort of divine knowledge to predict what will happen. This is given him the nickname of "Divine Foresight" amongst the people of the Xianzhou despite the fact the man himself does not possess the power of precognition himself. His ability to predict situations comes down to a combination of experience, meticulous information gathering, and his own high intelligence.

Although you would not be amiss if you were to look at Jing Yuan and think the talk of his intelligence and meticulous was nothing but just that talk. Another name one would hear amongst the Luofu is that of the "Dozing General" due to the air of laziness he often presents to those around him. It is convincing enough that it often causes his opponents to underestimate him and find him rather unimpressive─ in fact it is so convincing that even those from the other Xianzhou ships believe him to be an inactive general who takes no action, who is afraid of combat; although that could not be any further from the truth. Despite how lazy Jing Yuan appears to be he is in fact always quite busy.

Were it not for his leadership the Luofu would not have maintained unusually long tenure of peace. Jing Yuan believes in preventing disasters before they have a chance to even happen, making sure to always be informed of the currently events in order to properly plan. One must always remain prepared for any potential threats and issues that may arise.

( friendly & caring. ) Jing Yuan is a outgoing and charismatic person. Were you to ask any amongst the Luofu you would quickly learn how loved and admired he is. Despite all this Jing Yuan does not have many friends himself, his duties Arbiter-General often makes him far too busy to allow for leisure time nor does his status as the Arbiter-General allow for him to easily get close to others. Many of his past friendships have crumbled apart and left him with a guilt that slowly eats away at him. If the mantle of leadership did not sit so heavily on his shoulders, if he was free to peruse friendships with same ease as he once did in his youth things would be easier. However even if he was free to do so Jing Yuan has erected walls around himself a long time ago in order to protect himself from centuries old pain.

When Jing Yuan cares about someone or something, he cares deeply─ it is an undeniable love that can be to his own determent. He is the one who was left behind of the High-Cloud Quintet and what he has left of them is incredibly precious to him. This is seen in some of the objects he keeps; the forgemaster Yingxing (Blade) created his guando, Starfall Reverie, and he still uses it to this day. Making sure to take exceptional care of the weapon. His office, the Seat of Divine Foresight, is also decorated with other weapons that his friend made throughout his lifetime. It can be seen in how he interacts with the vidyadhara's current High Elder; Bailu─ often making up alignments in order to visit her and make sure she is doing well, ignoring his own fake illness, before slinking away once he sufficiently satisfied.

One of the biggest examples is his feelings towards Dan Heng, the reincarnation of his friend Dan Feng. Dan Heng did not have a great start to his life, hatching in a prison and being forced to serve out the sentence of his predecessor─ a fact that weighed heavily on his shoulders. He was all Jing Yuan have left of his old friend and thus did all in his power in order to grant Dan Heng a life of his own, even it was to be in exile. When Dan Heng returned he was overjoyed to see his friend, mistakenly calling him Dan Feng and being corrected. As much as he misses his old friend he understands that Dan Heng is not him, he is his own person and deserves to be viewed as such. Even so that nostalgia drives him to often ask how Dan Heng is doing.

"When the Vidyadhara are reborn, they are as fish that have returned to the ocean... it is a state of complete freedom. That I may glance upon him from the shore is enough for me."

( self sacrificing. ) The position that he holds isn't by any means one that Jing Yuan wanted for himself, something that he has openly spoken about before. When he was younger he wanted to become a Galaxy Ranger and have adventures across the universe, but his future was not destined for such things. He often laments his lack of time and how dull his life has become, regardless he always defers to the things that he needs to do rather than his own wants. His job is an important one, after all, and Jing Yuan is always aware of the lives that count on him and the decisions he makes. He denies his own desires constantly and it goes so far as to diminish his own feelings, often pretending he isn't as close to the people he immensely cares for.

( quick-witted & mischievous. ) During his youth Jing Yuan often would bother Yingxing purely for the joy of their bickering, a memory he still looks fondly upon to this day. While he is not nearly mischievous as he once was, Jing Yuan is known to purposely antagonize his opponents, be them serious military opponents or someone he is playing chess with. He is something on a instigator, a man who enjoys breaking the enemy's strategi and watching them argue and scramble with confusion. It is not isolated to his enemies, however, as he has a habit of just not showing up to work things his colleagues expect him to.

It is also important to note that this has extended to random people online as well, though is is unclear whether or not people are aware that it is the Arbiter-General of the Luofu they are talking with:

RealName_Online: Is this more believable than me being the Emperor of Primeval Imperium?
MostHandsome@AurumAlley: Believe you me, my information is pretty authoritative. Not to brag, my classmate's fourth uncle's godmother's ex-husband worked at none other than the Seat of Divine Foresight.
RealName_Online: Hi, I'm the Emperor of Primeval Imperium, gimme money.

( intemperance. ) Although not widely known, Jing Yuan is a man who can sometimes be afflicted by a lack of impulse control when given the opportunity. The biggest example of this is when he was tricked into believing that the grimalkin he was purchasing was just a normal cat─ until the cat kept growing and suddenly he had himself a large white lion living in his home. He did not dare question this at first, because the creature was just that cute. Sometimes you are incredibly smart but can be utterly undone by your impulses at any given moment, often taking action first and explaining it all away later.

    AU Name: n/a
    AU Age: 30
    AU Birthday: August 7th

    AU History:
Born to a family of successful academics and teachers, Jing Yuan's life was planned out for him long before he was first came into the world. While his youth was a joyous one it was littered with the pressure of a family who had already decided where he would go in life. He had no desire to do as they wished, in truth, his interests aligning more with martial arts and the history surrounding their family. More often than not, Jing Yuan would abandon his studies in favour of spending time with his grandfather who welcomed the boy with open arms. Much of his youth was spent in the company of his grandfather playing xiangqi and recounting stories.

Unfortunately time is a cruel mistress and would not allow for those happy days to last forever, not long after his 18th birthday Jing Yuan's grandfather fell ill. At first it appeared as though the illness was not serious, that he would bounce back as he has done so before. However the day Jing Yuan was called to his bedside he learned the truth; his grandfather was dying and there was nothing they could do to stop it. While his parents were devastated, Jing Yuan took the news calmly offering the man a smile as he begged for his grandson to listen to one final story. He told Jing Yuan a story of their family and the being only a few knew was intertwined. A long time ago a man brokered a deal with a being known as the Lightning Lord in order to save his own life. In return for that life, however, he was contracted to hunt down and kill a being of malice once a week and absorb its energies.

With his story concluded he asked one more thing of his grandson; take the Lightning Lord into himself, and allow it to possess him as it has done so many in their family throughout the years. Were he to die before it then the Lightning Lord would cease to be, having grown dependent (like a cat who enjoys getting it's meals delivered every day) on its hosts over all those long years. Jing Yuan agreed without hesitation and, much like his grandfather before him, became possessed allowing the old man to pass from this world without any regrets.

Although, at first, Jing Yuan did not feel any different. He could not tell whether or not his grandfather told him the truth, that he truly was possessed by some sort of spirit as many men in their family have been over the years, or if he simply indulged the delusions of a dying man. For the next week Jing Yuan continued as he had done so before; studying, working, spending time with his parents. It wasn't until the week after his grandfather's passing that something happened, a pain in his chest that grew and grew and grew until it all but incapacitated him. It was then that Jing Yuan heard a voice, a thunderous boom, that spoke only a few words; "Hunt, or we both perish." Left with little other choice Jing Yuan did just that, happening across rogue spirit feeding off an unconscious woman. The hunt was not an easy one, it lasted late into the night and nearly became the end of him due to his lack of combat experience. But he was successful in the end, taking down the spirit and absorbing it's energies into himself, easing the pain in his chest.

Finally understanding that his grandfather's words were not some fanciful tale, Jing Yuan gave up on the studies and goals his parents wanted for him and sort out someone who could teach him in the ways of combat. The teacher he ended up with was a woman of exceptional skill, someone who seemed to understand his predicament despite never once mentioning it. For the next ten years he trained under her, learning her combat techniques while developing his own at the same time. She even helped him hunt in the early days of their relationship when his skills were still unrefined. But then one day she simply vanished, leaving behind only a note that read: "I have nothing more to teach you, Jing Yuan."

For the next two years he took on the mantle of master, establishing himself as a teacher of martial arts with the intention of passing down all he knows to those willing to learn. Or to those who bare a weight as heavy as his own. And upon hearing the supernatural happenings within the city of Kaisou, he decides that a change a scenery is in order.

AU Personality Differences: Jing Yuan is not so different to his canon counterpart, however the tragedies of the High-Cloud Quintet does not rest so heavily on his shoulders. This does free him from the longing for old friends scattered by the wind. He also does not have to worry about an entire fleet, thus is given the opportunity to enjoy his favourite hobby; mediating with his eyes closed.

It naps, his favourite thing is naps. He gets to nap more often without people nagging him all the time.

    Element: Light
    Purchased Powers:
─ Conjure Lightning (Master) 4 Points

    ─ Teleportation (Medium) 4 Points

Possession: Jing Yuan is possessed by a spirit only known as the Lightning Lord; a being who saved his ancestor many many years ago. The price of this possession is the following:

Once a week Jing Yuan must hunt down a malice (any supernatural critter that is inherently malicious), kill it and absorb its energies.

Other Characters: Takame Kesi, Eunie, Diarmuid ua Duibhne, Ragna the Bloodedge

    Character Name: Wei Wuxian
    Canon: Grandmaster of Demonic Cultivation
    Canon History: Here!

Canon Personality: - Frivolous. I cannot stress this enough and it's used in the most derogatory way throughout the series. You look at Wei Wuxian on a surface level and you see a guy who looks like he doesn’t care about a damn thing. Strolling through life completely unseriously, poking fun at anyone he knows or people he just met, hitting on girls (and Lan Wangji) every chance he gets, mischievously pranking people, not having any goals to strive for and hating authority and being tied down by expectation. And while he’s constantly around Cultivators that take everything deathly seriously and being a generally agreed upon bad influence on those with bright futures by getting them to break the rules. He’ll never march to anything but his own beat.

    - Never shuts up. Everyone will benefit from Wei Wuxian saying less. He is annoying and he is very aware that he’s annoying. By this point it’s entirely on purpose. He likes getting a rise out of people, he’s a real instigator. Granted, when it’s intentional the only things he instigates are minor conflicts but the way he is and how he affects so many people on purpose or otherwise usually creates a domino effect of spinning into major conflict. There are some rules to this, if Wei Wuxian won’t shut up he’s completely fine. If Wei Wuxian is not running his mouth, something is deeply wrong.

    - Arrogant and Vengeful. This is where I need to address something important. In the time before and after Wei Wuxian dies and is resurrected he has some personality shifts. Wei Wuxian pre-death ("Yiling Patriarch" henceforth), absolutely has this arrogance and anger, brutally torturing the head of the Wen clan after emerging from the Burial Mounds. Feverishly insisting that he has full control over Demonic Cultivation, self indulging in using the power of Fierce Corpses and shattering when it’s proven that Lan Wangji was right in how much it actually began to decay him. Refusing to believe it, in fact right up until he’s ultimately killed. He was blinded by this arrogance while going on record as saying he hates arrogant people. Worth noting is that Wei Wuxian has canonically, verbatim, said that he would "charge up to his younger self and beat the hell out of him".

    - Emotionally Self-Unaware and Self Sacrificing. Wei Wuxian can read a room, but he cannot read himself to save his life and he’s not the most fond of himself in many moments. He spends most of the series, most of his life, thinking Lan Wangji hates him when in fact the man is so deeply in love with him he faced lashings to protect the pariah that was the Yiling Patriarch. His memory was so damaged by everything that happened prior to his death that he realized he was stupid when he did remember. But before that, out of fear of taking advantage of unreciprocated feelings, he walked right into the belly of the beast the two were investigating at the time, springing a trap. And this is to say nothing of the fact that he endured almost three straight days of agony to give his Golden Core to his brother Jiang Cheng so the latter wouldn’t feel like his life was over after losing his and not saying a word of it. Effectively this kneecapped him for life, but he’d do it again.

    - Intelligent and Academic. So Wei Wuxian is someone who only works on his terms, but when he works he displays incredible intellect and quick thinking. He developed the basis and advancement of Demonic Cultivation in three months and when he was a teenager proposed the theory that resentful energy can be utilized to maximize efficiency. He made records that are still used in standard Cultivation and kept in studies and libraries and while his practice is frowned upon it, its inventions are still utilized. He’s also observant of word choice and easily able to snuff out a liar or deliberate wording of the many manipulators he encounters.

    - Charismatic and Empathetic. When you’re as annoying as Wei Wuxian, you get under people’s skin in bad and good ways sometimes. People tend to listen to you in the rare instance you’re serious. When he proves his observant nature, everyone realizes he’s correct despite not really wanting to listen to him. He acted as a de-facto leader to the remainder of the Wen clan full of civilians during his time in the Burial Mounds, he instructed the cultivation juniors in life or death situations but also advised them not to rely on him so much. People flock to him as much of a provoker as he is. He has a natural charm and sees everyone as people having spent a long time at the bottom rung himself.

    - Loving and Protective. To be that vengeful, someone has to be passionate. Someone has to have deep and unshakable love and Wei Wuxian has that in spades. It was his love for Jiang Yanli that led to his ultimate breakdown, it was his love for Jiang Cheng that made him sacrifice his Golden Core, it was his love for the Wen stragglers that brought him to infamy in the Cultivation world, it was his love for Lan Wangji that carried him into his second life. Love is his driving force for better and worse.

    - Open minded. Wei Wuxian has a unique perspective as a "hero" and a villain in the Cultivation world. He can zoom out his view and see many different perspectives. He sees at the end that the Jin Clan was going the same route as the Wens did before. He notices that gossip around restaurants and bars sound the same when speaking about Jin Guangyao after the fallout at Guanyin Temple as it did for the Yiling Patriarch. It’s not fully accurate to say he plays devil’s advocate, just that on both sides of black and white even when he agrees that someone is awful to the core and must die in his eyes there is almost always a reason behind them. He knows he did a lot of bad things, regrets a lot of what he did after facing the consequences, but he had his reasons just as every villain and hero does.

    AU Name: N/A
    AU Age: 35
    AU Birthday: October 31 (Canon)
    Faction: POKEGO (Researcher Lotus)

AU History: Wei Wuxian’s childhood was uneventful, growing up in Shanghai and at some point moving to the western United States. He had high expectations put on both him and his siblings, but while said siblings were more studious the middle child of three Wei Wuxian was naturally the problem and the least favorite.

Everything was too uneventful, too boring, and he didn’t want to do something just because his parents told him to. Wei Wuxian was something of a prodigy though and did well in just about every class despite skipping frequently to pursue something that did interest him. Supernatural occurrences. Local legends, signs of spirits, resentful ghosts, haunted locales and prisons and cemeteries. Wei Wuxian was different from most of his family in his extremely keen sense for the paranormal. Regularly he’d drag his siblings or friends in his schemes to trespass because he sensed something and followed where his whims took him.

When he was younger, it was reprimanded but ultimately dismissed as boys will be boys. As he entered college around 19 though, his interest became a lot more zealous. He would sacrifice his own health and livelihood to scope out any sign that what he saw was real to bring home, not even for the sake of proving himself but to study it on his own. It was macabre, and his family and friends got more and more concerned being unable to perceive what he was checking. Even the few that could thought he was going too far when one theory was brought up.

That theory was Possession. Wei Wuxian had an unhealthy interest in the thought that resentful spirits and gods and whatever else could possess someone should they come close to death. He didn’t want to die, just to come close enough to be inhabited by something. Anyone who tried to stop him would be snapped at with insistence that he had control and they should get lost and disappear from his life.

Wei Wuxian burned a lot of bridges in his young adulthood to this day has yet to contact his old friends or family to reconcile. He wanted no part in anything that wasn’t his interest or that didn’t validate his interests. He spent the next five years between his college work doing everything he could to get a spirit to possess him. But again, he did not want to die. And he came dangerously close one night walking through a neighborhood at night and nearly getting himself beaten to death in a mugging.

No resentful spirit came to him. He just woke up days later in a hospital bed taken by a college professor who was very aware of both the Supernatural and what Wei Wuxian was doing. Being so close without his control, Wei Wuxian spent his time healing from his many broken bones thinking about what he’s done after a brutal scolding from the professor and some flashes in his mind he couldn’t explain. Of people and places he didn’t know and dreary land that wouldn’t grow anything.

Eventually he began to compile his reports on the Supernatural, wondering what he could do for this side of reality and how it could be utilized for efficiency of all rather than him. During some point in this constant work, his summaries started to devolve and he started to unconsciously write down reports on what was called "Demonic Cultivation". And he realized these were his works as well. Or rather, another version of him. Sharing that he wrote these is what eventually led him to being suggested POKEGO, a good sign considering the Black Order also had hands in his University and extremely keen eyes on his invention. And knowing at least some of what his past was, he wanted such a shady bunch to have no part in that.

Throughout the past ten years since POKEGO recruited him he’s proven a well known researcher within the organization. For better and worse. One side will lament the time they needed to spend with him and another will speak of him in awe. He’s a tough one to nail down for the organization but ultimately has been loyal to them.

Wei Wuxian has spent the past decade back and forth between the United States, the United Kingdom, China, Japan and other places having his Undergraduate degree and multiple partial credits in various scientific and philosophic fields and still tampering with things he shouldn't on occasion like one instance early on where an explosion and inhalation of an experimental gas caused him to stop aging physically. He does have a focus of study and that is the Spirit Vein. The way it changes, the strengths in various locations on Earth, etc. Even in this study focus he made liberal time to indulge in his own hobbies like D&D, Music and picking up Archery since it was something in his muscle memory.

Since 2022, Wei Wuxian has been in Kaisou a handful of times but with the situation in Kaisou having escalated as far as it has, they’ve assigned him a permanent station as opposed to allowing him to travel anywhere. A bummer and he had a good long bitch and moan about it, but at least Kaisou has his kind of people in it.

AU Personality Differences: Wei Wuxian has a lot less sins on his back than his past self, namely he hasn't massacred anyone and did not come out as broken as he did in canon. He has more of his vengeful nature as the Yiling Patriarch having not outgrown it but thanks to the fact that he's a little older, he's more calm as a whole and wouldn't go on the path that he did for revenge again since it is something he remembers, if loosely. Make no mistake, though, he'd still fight both his past selves behind a Denny's parking lot.

He's picked up a bit more dark humor as one does and for the sake of my and everyone else's fucking sanity and second hand embarrassment he's been out of the closet since his 20's.

    Player Name: AC

Other Characters: Ritsuka Fujimaru, Beredvyn of Nal

    Character Name: Knuckles the Echidna
Canon: Sonic the Hedgehog (Paramount film series)
Canon Point: post-Sonic the Hedgehog 2
Age: 16. No canon age has been given so far, but the director in an interview estimated Sonic's age as 13-14 in the first movie, and Knuckles is shown to be a little older than Sonic in the flashbacks, so he's most likely about this age.
    Birthday: October 18 (headcanon)
    History: Here you go.

Personality: Knuckles' two biggest traits are probably his sincerity and his naivety, as they define pretty much all of his actions and interactions in the story. He sincerely believes in his people and his cause, and as such will stop at pretty much nothing to achieve his goals. But he's also incredibly naive, having been orphaned at a young age and dedicated most his life to training rather than socializing, making him ignorant of many social cues to the point of gullibility.

Knuckles is also incredibly tenacious, and more than a little proud. Once he's decided on a course of action, almost nothing will sway him from it. He never shies from putting all his effort into whatever he does, and it can take a lot of convincing to get him to change his mind. This means he often comes across as quite stubborn and bullheaded, but also means he can be relied on when it counts.

He's also very loyal and has a strong personal sense of honor. This ties somewhat into his tenacity and sincerity, in that he won't easily abandon a companion or cause he's pledged himself to. He takes promises very seriously indeed, which naturally contributes to how difficult it is for him to understand that other people don't share that belief.

Buried underneath all this, Knuckles is ultimately quite lonely and hurt. Much of his attitude towards Sonic at first stems from anger born from this, and Knuckles is clearly confused and moved when he sees Sonic abandon the compass they'd been fighting over to save Tails. This eventually comes to a head when, after being saved by Sonic himself, he outright questions how Sonic can be so full of cheer and hope despite having experienced so much loss and failure.

Overall, he's basically a very serious, focused, and more than a little naive young man echidna. With an occasional sense of the melodramatic and a fondness for grapes.

Time of Arrival to Kaisou: Right around now/shortly into the Animal Crossing plot! For maximum confusion. As for a labyrinth, I have no idea, maybe his old village or the temple the master emerald was kept in?
Items: His shoes and his gloves. He'd normally also be carrying a supply of rings on his person, but I'm assuming those are more than a bit too OP to bring into Kaisou.
Retained Abilities: 4 points - Enhanced Bulk (strength/durability/speed/reflexes). Knuckles demonstrates using inhuman levels of all of these even without using chaos energy enhancements (accidentally dislocating fingerbones with a handshake, taking no damage from being hit by a car, running fast enough that city blocks blur past in a matter of seconds, and reflexes capable of tracking Sonic's speed)
2 points - Glowing eyes when channeling chaos energy. He cannot actually use the chaos energy on arrival, mind, his eyes will just glow when he tries to with no further effect!

    Other Characters: Eve

    Character Name:Dance-For-Us
    Canon: The Blackout Club
Canon History: Wiki is here, but also a summary:
    - Long ago when humanity gained intelligent thought, the first Voice evolved alongside them. A species of incorporeal beings made through shared human ideas. Eventually this being was replaced by Speak-As-One.

    - The rebellious Thee-I-Dare came into existence, as the first Voice to rebel and split from Speak-As-One. As humans spread more ideas and individualism, more and more Voices were created from the others. Dance-For-Me comes into existence with the invention of dance.

    - During her early days as, Dance-For-Me was vivacious but selfish. Always looking for entertainment, she treated mortals like playthings. A powerful and popular yet dangerous force.

    - As we reach the modern era, her name changes to Dance-For-Us. Since human thought shapes the Voices, this is likely in part due to her followers. However, she also claims to have been in favor of this shift and may have influenced the change. She now focuses more on her followers having fun, rather than herself.

    - Dance-For-Us hears about Speak-As-One being active in Redacre and goes to check out what her parent is doing.

    - While there, she discovers once of her siblings has gone missing. While helping the teenagers in the Blackout Club search for their own missing person, she looks into this secretly. She does not trust Thee-I-Dare, suspecting his involvement.

    - Upon discovering more about this mystery, she tries to tell her followers. However, they had been tricked into following a different Voice her by the very one who had killed her sibling: Hunt-The-Strong. With no hosts left in Redacre, Dance-For-Us is all but dead. She faces Hunt-The-Strong in one final stand but is consumed.

    Canon Personality:
Uncanny - Like the other Voices, Dance-for-Us often comes off as unsettling. There is an air of danger and secrets around her that comes from dealing with an unknowable powerful force. Who knows if they can trust her.
Charming - She acts quite positive, friendly, and social, getting along with most of the other Voices and the club members. Real extrovert vibes. She loves attention and will seek out people to get it.
Pretends to be Vapid - Going with her social personality, Dance-for-Us can come across as a bit superficial and vain. She has a long history of focusing on what is fun over anything else. After all, her message is all about dance! She can seem carefree and a little flighty. This outer persona has the secondary benefit that some people overlook her or see her as less threatening.
Bold and Stubborn - Like all Voices, she can be stubborn out of necessity. Too much changing will fracture or change her name, and who knows if she'd survive that! She also has a bit of a rebellious streak to her and can be quite sassy.
Adaptive - Yet she is one of the few Voices that seems to embrace change. Including switching her name to make her less selfish, she also actively seeks out knowledge about the modern era so she can be hip to the cool kids.
Smart and resourceful - Dance-For-Us is secretly more clever than she lets on. Not only does she research the language that shapes the Voices, she also was the only one to notice something was up with the damaged Voice's disappearance.
Loves her people - When she became Dance-For-Us, she grew more protective and caring of humanity. She has a big heart and wants the best of her followers. She still loves dance and music, but she wants others to have a good time, not just her. Dance-For-Us can be surprisingly honest, sharing information and asking her followers for advice. When faced with death, her first focus was reassuring the club members.

AU Name: Danielle Ford Usher (nickname Dani)
AU Age: 23 (Much younger than her canon age of approximately 9,000)
    AU Birthday: May 1

    AU History:
Danielle grew up in a controlling family with high expectations. She quickly learned not to go against those expectations even if it did not give her space to really be herself. As a result, she developed a popular persona in school. It fell within the parameters of 'acceptable' with her family, and offered distance from being perceived too closely.

She ended up traveling cross country to Kaisou University when she graduated. Her family had plans for her getting a reputable major, finding a future high earning partner, exc. Instead, she did what you might expect a repressed young adult to do with their new freedom: REBELLION. Danielle quickly became the life of the party at college. Not only because she was cutting loose, but she also found a passion for dance.

Going to university in Kaisou had it's own unique challenges. While she did not get deep into the supernatural, Dani slowly started noticing oddities around campus. This started around the time someone unknowingly invited the Fae to a house party last March. A terrible idea all around. After this, she has been cursed to dance every day, lest she dance in her sleep. While trying to deal with this, her roommate would confide in her about her own possession. Skeptical at first, Danielle eventually decided adult life was weird enough. What was one more piece to add to the pile? This quickly became a quiet background noise of her life in Kaisou, present but secondary to every day life.

Juggling all of this took an obvious toll on her GPA. At the end of sophomore year, she got into a fight with her family. They cut off her funds for college, thinking this would bring her back home. Instead she cut them off and stayed in Kaisou. Since then she has been working part time jobs trying to earn enough to go back and finish her degree. While also trying to ignore the odd things that happen around her.

    AU Personality Differences:
Since she was born human, Danielle does not have the same perspective as her immortal god-like past life. She already can identify with fellow humans without going through a big personality shift. Probably gonna be pretty horrified by her past life's more vindictive years. She is also well aware of her mortality, even if it simply fuels her seemingly carefree, carpe diem attitude.

Unlike her past self using that popular party girl mask as a tool in her family's chess game, Danielle uses it to distance herself from her past and troubles. People don't need to know if she's hurting. She's here to have a good time and make sure other do too.

    Character Name: Vyne (Time Patroller)
    Canon: Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2
    Canon History: Wiki!
Canon Personality: Take a bored, apathetic teenage girl and give her the potential for literal godlike power.

Despite her dry air of indifference, Vyne is a creature of whim at heart, not at all above doing dumb shit for her own mild amusement. Or encouraging other people, with a straight face, to do dumb shit for her mild amusement. She genuinely enjoys fighting (though she's no Saiyan) and she takes a decidedly cavalier attitude toward it, treating it more like any other form of entertainment like a video game or a casual sport than something one might dedicate their entire existence to improving themselves at.

Not to say that she's incapable of being serious – she does her job and she does it well – but it's hard to tell when she is, because even when she's giving her all her voice is just kind of. Like that. Still, overall, her reactions to the world-shattering events she regularly finds herself embroiled in trend steadily towards "this might as well happen."

Being a Majin, she has a distinct gluttonous streak. She's completely unashamed of it.

    AU Name: Vivian "Viv" Vintis
    AU Age: 20
    AU Birthday: June 26

AU History: Born and raised in Kaisou by an unremarkable middle-class couple, Vivian has drifted through an utterly ordinary life. Her grades in school were average, there were neither tragedies nor exceptional accomplishments to be found in her childhood, and she ended up attending college with an undecided major at her parents' insistence. In the absence of anything to ignite a spark of true passion within her, she spent her life merely following the path of least resistance.

Things changed a little over a year ago when she received the Libra app and woke up as a purple taffy creature. Viv embraced the weird stuff that was now part of her life because hey, it beats boredom, approaching supernatural events with a rather casual attitude. Until, that is, the disastrous events of April's raid on Zodiac's metaverse headquarters, where a guy got disintegrated right before her eyes. In the wake of that traumatic event, Vivian became sullen and withdrawn, until eventually — somehow, for whatever reason — she just... returned to normal. Human once more, her memories of those eventful months fogged over, and she went back to the mundane routine of college life as though none of it had ever happened. Despite this, the experience still left its mark on her, if only subconsciously, adding a sharp note of bitter dissatisfaction to her lifelong boredom and apathy.

When she finds herself transformed again, and the shroud over her memory clears... well, suffice to say, she's going to have a lot to process.

AU Personality Differences: Where Vyne was a godslayer with the attitude of an apathetic teen, Viv actually is an apathetic teen (young adult now, but close enough). Resigned to an existence of aimless drifting, her ennui and lack of direction in life were such that she welcomed the incursion of the paranormal into it simply because it was interesting. While that blasé approach was sorely tested by her brief prior stint as a Libra user, she'll still be liable to throw herself headfirst back into the supernatural, seeking the fulfillment that has so stubbornly evaded her in her regular life.

Other Characters: Caesar, Fugo, Shio, Josuke

    Character Name: Byleth Eisner
    Canon: Fire Emblem: Three Houses
    Canon History: here!

    Canon Personality:
🫖 Stoic and subdued, rather inexpressive. It's not that the emotions aren't there, it's that they have a difficult time expressing those emotions. It's noted that people close to them can figure it out, so those emotions are very much there!! Expression becomes easier for them throughout the plot.
🫖 Kind and genuinely wants to be helpful--their profile in Cindered Shadows lists their interests as listening to people and helping them; they even have an entire game mechanic centered around finding various lost items around Garreg Mach and returning them to their owners. (A variation of this mechanic even returns for their Emblem version in Fire Emblem Engage!)
🫖 Perceptive and good at emotional support. They're good at sensing when the students and their fellow staff members are having issues, and throughout the Supports, they'll readily act as emotional, well, support while the other person works through their issues.
🫖 Weirdly? Sheltered. Thanks a ton, Jeralt. They grew up among their father's mercenary group, and not only are their social skills a bit lopsided (they have trouble distinguishing between "ally" and "friend" by their own admission), but because of Jeralt, they know little about the world around them--particularly where the Church of Seiros is concerned. Which. Can be a bit of a problem when you end up working for the Church of Seiros.
🫖 Bonds strongly to others. This is most noted with their students, but it can be seen with the other members of the Garreg Mach staff and the Knights of Seiros. It's to the point that even when facing other characters as enemies (... usually), there will be regret expressed. The main exception is on Crimson Flower, which also happens because Byleth bonds so strongly with Edelgard.
🫖 Subtle influences, depending on route. This is most prominent on Verdant Wind (which results in a more curious Byleth, more willing to seek out information, and to share the info they do have, thanks to Claude's encouragement) and Azure Moon (where Dimitri encourages them to express their emotions more--this ends up working out beautifully after the timeskip.)
🫖 Doesn't seem to dislike much, but... While their profile in Cindered Shadows lists no dislikes, they state in Three Hopes that they loathe senseless killing. There's also one other thing...
🫖 Mess with their people at your own peril. This is something learned the hard way. Repeatedly. Never mind how Byleth will readily turn on Rhea in Crimson Flower when she commands them to cut down Edelgard, but if you harm Jeralt? You die. Painfully. Kronya learns this lesson the hard way. Shez can learn this the hard way in Three Hopes. (Or at least, Byleth will make the attempt, with help from Sothis.)

    AU Name: Bailey Eisner
AU Age: 24 (closer to her post-timeskip age than pre-timeskip)
AU Birthday: 9/20 (this is the canon default)

    AU History:
🫖 Fairly normal childhood, if a bit sheltered thanks to an overprotective and somewhat paranoid father
🫖 When she was 14, she was the sole survivor of an accident that claimed the lives of her immediate family.
🫖 The only reason Bailey survived is due to the interference of a nameless goddess of time, who offered a pact.
🫖 Needless to say, Bailey accepted. Afterwards, she was sent to live with relatives on her mother's side of the family in Kaisou.
🫖 She spent her high school years shut down emotionally out of grief. That being said, her uncle made sure she started going to therapy during this time. (He was gently but firmly insistent, despite his sister's insistence that Bailey didn't necessarily need it.)
🫖 She eventually graduated high school and after taking a break for about a year or so, started attending Kaisou U, deciding she wanted to become a teacher--it just felt right.
🫖 She also started assisting with self-defense classes!
🫖 She's still working on that whole... normal life thing despite the circumstances, but she has friends now, a couple of jobs that she enjoys, and an intended trajectory for her life. She'd like to think she has it pretty good for the time being.
🫖 Too bad that whole "normal life" thing is about to be derailed, huh?

    AU Personality Differences:
🫖 Better-adjusted and considerably less sheltered, low a bar as that is. (Seriously, that bar may as well be subterranean). While Bailey's biological father was overprotective and kind of paranoid, it was nowhere near on Jeralt's level. She actually does know things about the world around her. It also helps that she was put into her uncle's care: he was quick to put her into some sorely needed therapy.
🫖 More expressive. Bailey still has some difficulty with emotional expression sometimes, and she can be rather deadpan, but it's nowhere near the level of Byleth's.
🫖 Bailey isn't a mercenary. She doesn't need to fight to survive like Byleth did. Self-defense aside, fighting seriously isn't something she's given particular thought to. She also doesn't have the martial or tactical prowess Byleth did... yet.
🫖 Generally less violently protective. Don't get me wrong, the potential for it is there, but it's had less reason to be a whole Thing.

    Element: Shadow
    Purchased Powers:
Luck (Low): Your luck seems somewhat improbable. This will affect gacha results and give a +1 to all side quest rolls. (1 point)
Shadow Claws (High): Can make large claws of shadow or a sword made of compressed darkness to attack. (3 points)
Slow Time (Medium): Slow down time for 10 seconds. Doing it multiple times will tire you out. (2 points)
Spirit Companion (Medium): Summon a shadow-spirit companion that's up to the size of a dog. (3 points) (In this case, a dog-sized wyvern.)
Possession: Bailey is possessed by a nameless time goddess-- and because her possessor is divine, this means she has two contract prices she needs to fulfill:
First, Bailey has to eat enough for both herself and for her possessor, and even more when any time-related powers have been used. (Such as slowing time from the purchased powers. And obviously she will not be able to benefit from the Hunger flaw because of this!)
Second, Bailey will feel compelled to repay any perceived slight or favor towards her in kind, preferably within a day. The longer she doesn't, the stronger the compulsion will become until it's all she can think about, only ending when she finally manages it. (And so she won't be able to benefit from the Vengeance flaw either)

    Character Name: Firefly
    Canon: Honkai: Star Rail
    Canon History: Firefly - Sam

    Supplemental info
In canon, Firefly suffers from Entropy Loss Syndrome, which is described as "an irreversible chronic dissociation of [the] physical structure." Those suffering from this illness start out just like everyone else, but gradually begin to simply do things much more slowly than everyone else. This slowing down will get worse and worse until the lines between self and the universe blur, and they will lose the ability to distinguish dream and reality.
Firefly values the Dreamscape because she can interact with the world there in her own body, stating it as: "I can forget about all the doctor's advice. I can listen, and see, and touch, and think, and understand whatever I want with my body. So, although this world isn't real, this experience is priceless..."

    Canon Personality:
⭒❃.✮:▹ Kind and compassionate - Firefly is a generally warm and social girl who often comes across as rather upbeat and cheerful. Even in the face of uncertainties, she will still try to smile for someone important to her. Even in the event that something takes away her smile, finding a place of understanding and comfort with someone is still important.
⭒❃.✮:▹ Determined - As someone with a progressive and irreversible illness, Firefly has a strong desire to find ways to defy destiny or fate, to perhaps even escape the end the illness dictates. Even in the event of destinies that she cannot defy, it is still in her nature to make her own choices. If she cannot choose when something will end, she will choose how it ends when it does. She is the type of person who will see her choices through to wherever they lead her in the end.
⭒❃.✮:▹ Protective - Even if sometimes she may not have the ability to take someone's safety into her own hands, whether by imposed limitations or otherwise, she cares for the safety and wellbeing of those important to her. Sometimes, this desire can lead her to be suspicious of the help offered by lesser known entities.
⭒❃.✮:▹ Willing to lie - While she doesn't make a habit of it, Firefly understands that sometimes a lie or omission is necessary. She hides her identity in more ways than one, first hiding that she is in fact a stowaway and not just another normal guest at Penacony.. and then hiding that she is actually a member of the Stellaron Hunters -- one of their more efficient and ruthless fighters. As far as Firefly is concerned, to get to know someone as who she truly is, and not the weapon she was supposed to be... surely a little lie of omission was something that could be forgiven?
⭒❃.✮:▹ Quietly sassy - Though there's rarely real venom or ill intent behind it, Firefly can absolutely give people a bit of a hard time. This has manifested in a couple ways. Most often this form of her humor comes out as sarcasm, more or less biting depending on her relationship with the one she's speaking with. With those she's close to, she's more likely to have a gentle edge to her words, when compared with strangers or outright opponents.
⭒❃.✮:▹ Somewhat impatient - While there are many things that she can patiently wait for, when something important needs doing, Firefly tends toward being hurried, even to the point that the impatience becomes a little reckless. For example, in needing to drive two people away from a third, she doesn't hesitate to strike up conflict between them -- in the end she does mostly get her wish as well. More often than not, it does seem to work out.

    AU Name: Faye Kennedy
AU Age: 21 (idk canon age)
    AU Birthday: January 24

    AU History:
    ⭒❃.✮:▹ Pᴀʀᴀɴᴏʀᴍᴀʟ Hɪsᴛᴏʀʏ:
The start of Faye's experiences with the paranormal began when she'd wandered off from the other orphans one summer day. They'd been brought out to a park, and the then six year old Faye caught sight of something sparkling beyond the line of trees. As she'd never been a problem child, she'd been quite easily able to slip away and into the shade beneath the canopy.

Yet in chasing after the sparks of the fireflies, she found herself turned around in the dim light filtering through the trees. Which way was the park? She couldn't tell. Frightened tears in her eyes, she'd frantically looked around herself.. until she spotted what looked like a person in the distance. People could be dangerous, that was what the orphanage staff had taught the children.... but in that moment, Faye trusted this unknown figure far more than her own chances.

No matter how fast she ran through fallen leaves and scrubby bushes, she never seemed to get any closer to the person. Each time she would take a step in their direction, it seemed as if the figure was floating somehow through the brush, farther and farther away from her. Too afraid to turn back, she didn't realize just where she was being lead.. until she saw the sunlight through trees ahead, and faintly hear the laughter of children.

By the time she reached the light, it seemed the other children had become such handfuls that their carers hadn't noticed she'd been gone. She was relieved to have escaped the darkness -- something she'd never have managed without that mysterious figure. A look cast back into the darkness, the previously distant figure was right there, peering out from behind a tree. The proximity wasn't what startled her most, though. When Faye looked.. she could see the faint lines of trees and bushes through them as if looking into fog.

She'd heard ghost stories from the older children, had always thought they sounded cool rather than terrifying. Faye scrubbed her tears away, mouth opened to thank this ghost.. when the ghost smiled and raised a finger to their lips. Quiet, she'd seen that motion before. She could keep a secret.

Ever since that day, ghosts had simply become a part of the city around her. Most often they'd pay her no mind.. but whenever she found herself lost, they had always been there to lead her back on track once more.

    ⭒❃.✮:▹ Cʜᴀʀᴀᴄᴛᴇʀ Hɪsᴛᴏʀʏ:
Faye was abandoned as a very small child at an orphanage in Kaisou, left there by a cloaked woman who ran after a firm knock at the door late one evening. She hadn't been old enough that she knew just who left her -- not even old enough to recall if she had a name yet, so after it was determined that nobody would be returning for her, the carers who found her at the door gave her the name Faye: a perfect name for a child with hair so platinum blonde it appeared near white. The orphanage's little fairy.

Even without a family of course, Faye had to go to school with the rest of the children her age, and she had proven to be quite a bright girl. The issue there arose instead when the other children found that she didn't have parents. In the way kids do, Faye had been bullied and teased for this throughout the first several years of her schooling, all the way up until she was finally adopted. Enough damage had been done though, and she'd withdrawn into being fairly shy, someone who didn't want eyes on her.

It's just before beginning high school that she wants to try changing herself, placing her elective courses with determination into classes relating to performance, whether the drama courses or the choir. While it still took a lot of effort, Faye had graduated with full scholarship offers from a performing arts university overseas.

Her first two years had gone rather well, all things considered! Though near the middle of her second year, Faye noticed that she'd started to become tired more easily from activities she had completed easily in the first half of the year. Perhaps she simply hadn't gotten enough sleep? Surely that was all it was.

Except it continued to get worse. Though she made it through the end of her second year of university, it had started to become difficult to walk -- the exhaustion bad enough that she hadn't registered for classes after the first term of her third year. Dropping out, hopefully temporarily, Faye had fallen back on offering tutoring for pay over first calls... and then messaging apps as talking for too long at once started to become just as exhausting as simply getting up. She had to continue to pay for this student apartment of hers somehow, though, so she pushed through.

She couldn't afford to visit doctors overseas, and without wanting to concern her family with her health... Faye could only do her best to try to manage the symptoms. It was simply never enough, and what had begun as a slow decline in her health had turned into a rather rapid downward spiral. Getting up to eat or get anything to drink had reached the point of taking every bit of her strength, and then become impossible entirely.

It had been months since she contacted her family, and as she lay there in her bed struggling with each breath.. it had begun to sink in that they may never hear from her again. She couldn't move -- had become so hungry and thirsty that her body had simply stopped signalling the desire for either. Dying had never really been something that Faye was afraid of, but what she was afraid of was how her family would take it when those months of silence turned into being informed that she was gone.

'I'm sorry' repeating in her foggy mind, thinking of her family, wanting to cry but being far too weak.. a voice reached her ears.

"Do you want to see them again?"

The voice was deep, raspy.. but something about the way he (he?) spoke set her mind at ease. Her lips parted only just, 'yes' in her thoughts only before the room around her faded to black.

... then she woke up. The foggy thought that those months had been a horrible nightmare was quite immediately shattered by that raspy voice reminding her of the promise she'd made. The contract she'd agreed to. It wasn't something she would be able to do here, overseas. Cleaning up -- both herself and the small apartment -- Faye had sent her family her first message in months. She was coming back home.

    AU Personality Differences:
⭒❃.✮:▹ In canon, Firefly was born as a weapon, so there is a willingness to use less than peaceful means if they could make a difference. It isn't even a difficult decision to make, really. Meanwhile in the AU there isn't any history relating to violence other than being bullied, so while Faye will stand up for what she believes in, violence doesn't tend to come to mind first.
⭒❃.✮:▹ Firefly's goal in joining the Stellaron Hunters was to find the meaning of life and find ways to defy fate. Without having been born as a weapon in the AU, Faye's motivation has leaned a bit more toward understanding just why she'd been abandoned, or what it was that made someone abandon a child at all. The desire to defy fate remains though.
⭒❃.✮:▹ The rest is pretty much the same.

⭒❃.✮:▹ Price of possession: As the spirit can no longer attempt to defy the fated deaths of others after saving Faye from death by way of possession, once a week Faye must volunteer to care for or brighten up the lives of children with terminal illnesses. The thought being that if they receive care, they may yet pull through.
⭒❃.✮:▹ In the event of failure to complete this weekly obligation, the defiant nature of the spirit can manifest in varying levels of violence.

    Canon Personality:
  • Humble: Despite their exalted station as the Divine Dragon, Alear doesn't view themself as above anybody else. In fact, they would much rather be treated as an equal and friend than worshipped as a deity. Others are often shocked to see them perform tasks that are "beneath" them, but that doesn't change their will to do their part.
  • Amiable: Alear is generally just... a nice person; warm, approachable, and nigh unfailingly polite. They're a good listener, and consistently show sincere interest in others' hobbies and passions, often taking them up themself to share in their friends' happiness.
  • Compassionate: Alear cares deeply for other people. They're always ready to lend an ear to anyone's troubles and a hand wherever it may be needed. They offer their trust without hesitation and are not one to hold grudges unless a person is truly, unrepentantly heinous.
  • Earnest: There isn't a deceitful bone in this one's body. Alear is straightforward and honest, and tends to wear their heart on their sleeve (a far cry from the intense emotional repression they suffered as a minion of Sombron).
  • Loyal: Alear sees the people who stand by their side, both the Emblems and their mortal allies, as the source of their strength. They're a wholehearted believer in The Power of Friendship, and it was thanks to those bonds that they were able to become...
  • Resolute: ...a determined leader who refused to let even death itself keep them from protecting the ones they care about. Though they take no joy in fighting, Alear won't hesitate to put their life on the line to help people.

  • AU Name: Alexandrie Lueur Séraphine Vouivre
    AU Age: 23
    AU Birthday: January 20

AU History: A scion of old money, Alex was born into a wealthy family that traces its roots to French nobility. Their mother, a genuinely dedicated philanthropist, never married, and Alex's conception was an accident. Despite this, she was happy to become a mother, and doted on her child throughout their life. Alex grew up wanting for nothing, least of all affection, and deeply loves and admires her mother in return. Seeking to follow her example, they plan to pursue a career in advocacy and are currently attending Kaisou U to that end. They could've enrolled in a proper Rich People University but honestly they're much happier to stay close by their home populated by nice people.

A fact about the Vouivre family that is unknown to most is that the blood of an ancient dragon runs through their veins. Though it has been diluted significantly over many generations, with Alex only having a few largely cosmetic draconic features to show for her ancestry, it nonetheless means that she has been aware of the paranormal her entire life, even if it hasn't seriously impacted it.

AU Personality Differences: The main thing that separates Alexandrie from Alear is that the former hasn't lived through a great deal of trauma. Alear was born to a 'father' who viewed his many children as tools to be used and discarded, ended up killing him and almost being killed by him in turn, and awoke to a loving mother a millennium later only to watch Lumera die before they truly had a chance to enjoy their time together as a family, leaving Alear to save the world in her stead. Alex, by contrast, is the beloved only child of a doting mother, raised in the lap of luxury; they've lived a pretty charmed life, one free of the the weight of the world on their shoulders, and their bearing reflects that.

    Element: Light
Purchased Powers: Alex has the following monster features as a result of their draconic heritage.
  • Teeth (Strong): Alex has sharp fangs and extraordinarily tough teeth. [2p]
  • Claws (Small): Alex's fingernails and toenails are naturally pointed and dangerously sharp. [1p]

    Character Name: Thera Daenthelm
    Canon: OC
    Canon History:

Born into an academic family to both parents holding doctor titles, Thera was expected to follow in their footsteps from a young age. It helped that she had a genuine interest too, aspiring to make her parents proud and so she threw herself into her studies with a great zeal. She was unaware of the more unsavoury jobs her parents took, working alongside a mercenary group her grandfather had long since been affiliated with. Unfortunately their work soon visited their home, and her parents were killed in a grizzly manner in front of her - an incident that left with no small amount of trauma, to the point she was non verbal for a few years.

From there, Thera decided that to find the killer she would be best to walk the same road her parents did - less than legal connections and all. Her grandparents raised her after the death of her parents, and in doing so Thera followed her grandfather into working within the mercenary group known as crimson. Thera is a doctor in all sense of the word, but she also tends to those that stick to the criminal underbelly of the world; along with providing poisons for the covert operatives of the organisation she now works for. Currently the aim of her organization is to deal with the tyrannical rule over her homeland, with Thera providing background support with acting as a doctor and supplier of certain... substances. Current clues point her towards her parents killer working with previously mentioned tyrant, which fuels her to go after them all the more.

    Canon Personality:

🌿 Compassionate - Thera does genuinely care about others, both strangers and not. Her work as a doctor is partly motivated by her desire to ease the suffering of others, and she won't hesitate to go to someone's aid if they're having trouble. Nothing is too big or small, so long as she's able to help someone.

🌿 Hardworking - Thera is very, very dedicated to her work, and will always strive to do her very best. This does tend to lean into her becoming a borderline workaholic at times, but she's steadfast and reliable, and will accomplish her goals with great determination. And some anxious energy,

🌿 Protective - The loss of her parents combined with survivors guilt means Thera is deeply protective of people close to her, and her patients. Their happiness and wellbeing tend to come above hers, and she will willingly put herself in harms way for them as well. This can unfortunately lean towards her becoming almost violently protective, if push comes to shove...

🌿 Neurotic - As a result of feeling she failed her parents, Thera does suffer from severe self-criticism and has a hard time accepting anything less than perfection. She also does suffer from a lot of anxiety in general, and while she's gotten better at handling it, it can spike up in moments of intense stress in regards to anything personal.

🌿 Vengeful - For all her kindness, Thera has a vengeful streak miles long and this functions as one of her primary motivators. While small things she doesn't mind, any sort of personal slight against those she cares about is more than enough to incur her wrath. And she doesn't tend to be a very merciful woman when angered.

    AU Name: Thera Darmousli
    AU Age: 27
    AU Birthday: September 2nd

    AU History:

🌿 Born to two Greek doctors, and was raised in Germany. Thera had more of an interest in the arts when she was young, specifically painting and her parents encouraged that.
🌿 Has been exposed to the paranormal since she was young, her mother would occasionally treat those of a more supernatural persuasion - including those in hiding in plain sight. Thera has also just been sensitive to this in general, especially more nature-aligned spirits
🌿 Unfortunately something less pleasant came after them, and her parents were killed one night in her teens. Her memory of the night is fuzzy, especially as what killed her parents also killed her as well.
🌿 Her desire to live, and her desire to get revenge on what hurt her and her family, drew the attention of something supernatural - one of the furies specifically, Tisiphone, who was drawn to Thera's desire for revenge. Thera was brought back to life by the possession, and with her second chance decided to track down the being that killed her and her parents.
🌿 Was raised from foster families from this point, and mostly kept to herself as she grew up. Decided that going the same avenue of her parents would yield her answers, so threw herself into her studies so she could pursue a medical degree. She does genuinely enjoy her work too, and works both as a legitimate doctor and one for the more... underground clients, both supernatural and not.
🌿 Utilises her parents connections and builds up on them to trace the whereabouts of her parents killer. Eventually it leads her to Kaisou and she transfers her residency to there within the last couple of months.
🌿 Nowadays operates as a doctor in the Underground, along with working at the local hospital.

    AU Personality Differences:
🌿 While still highly anxious and neurotic at times, she's learned better coping mechanisms (like therapy) and is a bit less likely to get intently stressed or emotional as a result.
🌿 However having a fury for a brain roommate means her patience is now shorter and she's much more likely to put her foot down - while she was socially anxious in her previous life, she's now more willing to stand up for herself.

    Element: Fire
    Purchased Powers:
Hair - Changed to pink (1)
Eyes - Changed to purple (1)
    Conjure Fire - High (3)
    Conjure Blue Fire (3)

Possession: Thera is possessed by one of the furies of Greek myth, Tisiphone. Due to this (and as a result of her technically being a goddess), Thera has two contract prices:
🌿 Any perceived slight is returned, even something as minor as someone cutting in front of her in line. This also includes perceived wrongs done to those around her as well. If this isn't returned in some way, Thera will become more and more irritable as a result (this also means she can't purchase the Vengeance flaw from Goodwill!)
🌿 A desire to fight at least once a week. Mostly this will be focused towards supernatural entities that have done wrong towards others.

    Canon: Honkai Star Rail
Canon History: So the HSR wiki is hilariously lacking information on Sunday despite 2.2 being out and other characters being updated (probably bc they're waiting for him to be playable and offer more insight), so I'm gonna bullet point stuff as best I can.

(THERE WILL BE 2.0 TO 2.2 SPOILERS INCOMING)

🎼 He was born in a village on Penacony and was the older brother to Robin. He and his mother and his sister did their best to live a relatively normal life at home with hardly any issues.

🎼 Sunday loved music, and he loved watching his sister sing, so he would have makeshift concerts for her to "perform" at as kids. Both he and her dreamed of a perfect paradise in which everyone is happy and without pain, and both chose to make it their dream to achieve one day.

🎼 During his childhood, a Stellaron came to Penacony and created disasters across the planet. One such disaster essentially had his mother melt into a memory vortex- something akin to a time bubble/area locked away from reach (from what fandom can tell), and Sunday and Robin fell to the earth "like baby birds."

🎼 Sunday and Robin were adopted by The Family as a result and raised by the Dreammaster, with Sunday being considered a "young scholar" headed to lead the Oak Family in due time.

🎼 When they were older, Robin decided to be a singer and spread the word of Harmony and Xipe across the cosmos, and traveled far and wide as a result. Sunday, meanwhile, took over the head of the Oak Family, and it was here that the Dreammaster began his true hardcore work of indoctrinating Sunday to the ways of Ena and Order. The Dreammaster used examples of the world to prove to Sunday that the Harmony is silent in the face of so much struggle and suffering, and that the only way to achieve peace and paradise is through Order.

🎼 Fast forward to HSR's Penacony patches- The Family works together to prepare for the coming Charmony Festival, a celebration meant to bring about the emanator (a being touched by an Aeon) of the Harmonious Choir- Dominicus Septimus. Robin was supposed to sing and bring the emanator to Penacony, but she was mysteriously losing her voice.

🎼 Enter the Astral Express, who was given an invite to come attend, and Sunday and Robin serve as greeters and ones who welcome the crew to Penacony and the Dreamscape. Sunday apologizes for having to leave so quickly, but he has work to do.

🎼 Later, we find Robin dead and Sunday now is on a hellbent vendetta to find her killer. This causes him to question Aventurine, a member of the IPC Stonehearts, as to the whos and wheres of discovering his sister's body. Sunday even uses his "tuning" ability as an advocate to make sure the other man doesn't lie to him.

(Aventurine does anyway, but that's Aventurine for you).

Finding Aventurine's answers lackluster, Sunday turns his "tuning" ability from one that holds liars accountable, to making the entire situation the equivalent of a supposed death sentence. Aventurine has 17 hours to come up with the answers Sunday seeks, or he will possibly die (he implies this, but it's never outright stated). If the answers given are satisfactory, Aventurine will be released from Xipe's hold and forced into becoming a member of The Family.

🎼 We learn later that Sunday is aware that Aventurine played him for a fool, despite being put under Xipe's watch, and that Sunday brushes off the fact without any resentment. In fact, he has no interest in Aventurine's confrontation with the Astral Express, or the man's sudden "death" or "disappearance." Instead, Sunday confronts a member of the Bloodhound Family by the name of Gallagher, accusing him of being Robin's murderer- and in the process, Sunday "dies" as well.

🎼 He wakes later in another part of the Dreamscape called Dreamflux Reef, and it's here that he finds Robin safe and sound. The two embrace and Sunday agrees to help both Gallagher and the Astral Express fight against the Dreammaster and the using of the Stellaron for the Charmony Festival.

🎼 Sunday and Robin take Welt to go speak with the Dreammaster while the rest of the Astral Express goes and does a contest to get into the festival themselves. Sunday questions the Dreammaster using his "tuning," and is about to end the entire session when Welt calls the Dreammaster out on how he answers Sunday. Having been found out, Sunday heeds the words of his master and mentally imprisons Robin and Welt inside their own minds to keep them out of the way of their plans.

🎼 Sunday then goes and speaks with the other Astral Express members, explaining his true goals and what he hopes to accomplish. By calling down Dominicus Septimus, he will essentially control the emanator and give everyone the "perfect paradise" he and Robin have dreamed of. By this, he will force everyone into Ena's Dream, where they'll forever never want for anything and won't ever have to suffer or live with the rules of "survival of the fittest" being how the way things work.

But by achieving this, he will sacrifice himself in order to keep everyone happy and away from reality forever. No one would be individuals anymore, and any thought of self-worth would be blanketed by a feeling of "satisfaction," regardless of who the person is.

🎼 The Astral Express fights him through his mental planes, going so far as to confront him in the Grand Theater, only for him to summon the Harmonious Choir. There's another fight, one where it seems like the Astral Express wins-

In reality, they lost, and were shoved into Ena's Dream along with everyone else.

🎼 Sunday keeps this dream alive as much as he can, until the crew members of the Express wake up and fight him again. This takes multiple people and multiple attempts (it's Honkai's LONGEST boss fight currently, outdoing Phantylia's 3 phase pretty easily) but in the end, the Astral Express wins.

🎼 Sunday, seeing the truth and the proof that people will always fight to wake from a dream, because it's worth keeping those things separate and living for yourself, willingly falls off the edge of the boss arena. He accepts his defeat and is willing to die from the fall, but Robin dives over the edge and embraces him, the two of them flying through the Dreamscape and eventually crashing into the streets below.

🎼 As of this current time, Sunday's fate beyond simply "surviving" is unknown.

Canon Personality: God where do I even start, this guy is a MESS.

🎼 Sunday is an incredibly traumatized man. He watched his mother die from a cataclysm caused by the Stellaron, not even being able to hear her try and sing to him and Robin as things slowly fell apart. He never recovered from his childhood trauma and instead became obsessed with the idea of wanting a paradise that he and Robin dreamed of as children.

🎼 Naturally this means his views on achieving said paradise involve being in control of EVERYTHING. LITERALLY EVERYTHING. He has control issues and worries that if he is not making all the decisions, more people will suffer and be hurt, therefore never coming close to the idea of a perfect paradise. He was originally instilled with this idea as a child, but the Dreammaster wasn't exactly shy in indoctrinating him into the idea of Order, either.

🎼 The only way to achieve said Order is by enforcing it- however, his view of a "perfect paradise" is FAR different from what his sister Robin wants. Sunday firmly and undoubtedly believes that keeping people safe from all harm and creating a perfect dream where no one will ever wake again, that destroying the notion of needing Aeons or gods and no longer having the idea of "survival of the fittest" be real, and where all are equal regardless of being strong or weak. In doing so, he would be robbing people of all their free will and individuality to keep order and have things be perfect.

🎼 One of his biggest things is that Sunday truly does not want to overpower others in their convictions if he feels they strongly clash against his own. At one point, Acheron states that "he could have killed us without a second thought, but he chose to have a fair confrontation." Sunday really does believe that he can prove his point even in a fight, and so he readily meets the Express in combat to show them what he means to achieve.

I mean, more power to him, but uh. Cool motive, still murder.

🎼 Above all else, Sunday feels trapped. After experiencing the horrors of his childhood and being brought up to be the next head of the Oak Family in Penacony, Sunday feels that he cannot escape the struggle of wanting to help others- only to find that his good intentions end up bringing about worse results. So long as the weak continue to try and have "self-worth," the strong will always take advantage of them. Despite his best efforts, Sunday’s choices end in tragedy.

🎼 Despite having this very uh... not great idea of how to go about things, he truly does want the best for people. His heart really does pity people who struggle, and he wants a better life for everyone, where no one is taken advantage of. Firefly even says to him once- "You speak about humanity with such pessimism, but I can tell your heart clearly pities them." Overall, Sunday wants a life where no one has to face what he has.

    AU Name: Noah Haas
    AU Age: 26
    AU Birthday: August 31st

    AU History:

🎼 Noah Haas was born in Austria into a family of four, with him being the older of two children.

🎼 He was discovered to be a sort of musical prodigy from a young age, and was playing a violin by the age of 6. He picked up piano at age 8 and excelled at playing that as well.

🎼 His parents, noticing his talent and his skill for the money it could make them, began to bring him to concert halls, mentors and to others who would see him. Noah was taught for several years before he stepped into the adult world of a classical musician by the age of 13. He gained renown, was recognized as a potential future musician to keep an eye out for, and most importantly, was paid for his performances.

🎼 Shortly after the discovery of how much money their son could make them, his parents discovered that Robin, his sister, was a talented singer. Noah watched in vain as poor Robin was forced to go the same route as he was, performing to fund the family's greed. He felt helpless the entire time.

🎼 That basically was the way of his life as he struggled to balance being a musician as well as stay on top of his grades in secondary school. Everything in his life was being handled for him, and he had no sense of control over anything. Robin was a singer, he was a musician, and Noah began to feel cornered in how everyone's eyes always seemed to be on him so often.

🎼 It eventually got to a point where, after graduating secondary school, Noah was essentially forced to travel with a famous orchestra and perform with them for several years, networking with other people and earning his family more in the process. Slowly, he began to hate playing music for other people.

🎼 After several years of this and quietly just accepting things as they were, Noah decided to quit the traveling orchestra and move to America to start college. He did not tell his family about this choice, instead picking out his university himself, which was Kaisou U.

🎼 Obviously, this eventually traveled back to his family and the end result was awful. His parents threatened to cut him off from any sort of money he'd made them, and when that didn't work, they threatened to refuse to let him see Robin anymore. Noah still refused to return to his previous work- and that's where things took a terrible turn.

🎼 Noah's cousins found his apartment late one night, and barged in on him without any sort of notice beforehand. They argued with him, scolded him, and bullied him for stopping, claiming he was damaging their lifestyle and that things would be hard without him there to earn money for them. When he wouldn't budge in his choice, his cousins got more aggressive, and pushed him out onto his apartment balcony.

Finally, his cousins got pissed, accusing him of ruining their lives, so they'd ruin his in return. They shoved him over the balcony railing, Noah plummeting four stories to the ground below.

🎼 Surprisingly, or perhaps even miraculously, he didn't die upon impact. But he was in pain and wishing for a chance to live his life- when along came a "god" who heard his plea. Their name was Concordia, and they could save him so long as Noah agreed to their price.

🎼 He was found shortly after, Concordia keeping him stable enough to stay alive, and taken to the hospital. It would be almost a month before he would be considered in decent enough health to move out of the emergency room halls, and another few months before he made a complete and startling recovery with no lasting permanent damage. Worried about his condition getting out somehow to his family, he chose to leave Europe immediately and moved to the US, jumping from state to state for some time. For three years, he was a ghost, not even trying to reach out to Robin, too afraid the family would try to hurt her if she knew he was here- or worse, if she tried to leave singing all together.

🎼 He finally settled in Kaisou about a year ago, and is in his first year at the university, studying music theory. He also holds an internship on a certain pirate's ship in the docks, and has pretended he believes all of the inane lies Edward has told him to cover for the weird things happening lately.

    AU Personality Differences:

🎼 This man is a wet noodle. No, really- he's spent most of his life being told to do what everyone else wanted him to do. Noah doesn't really argue against things unless he really believes in them.

🎼 He still feels trapped, but in this life it's because of the expectancy to be in the spotlight. That the music he plays isn't for himself, it's for others and that he has to perform it where everyone can see him.

🎼 Noah is so much more lost as a result- he doesn't know where he wants to really go right now for his future, he just knows that he wants to get away from what his parents want him to do.

🎼 He's more likely to run right now than to stand and defend himself and his beliefs. His choice to quit the orchestra and enroll in university was the first time he ever decided to take a step for himself, and he still struggles with his own self-esteem/worth because he really wasn't allowed to develop most of his individuality.

    Element: Light
    Purchased Powers:

    Yellow eyes - 1 point
    Silver hair - 1 point
    Height change - 1 point
Species change (Halovian) - 2 points
    Halovian halo - 1 point
    Halovian headwings - 1 point

Possession: A god by the name of Concordia. Their contract price is that twice a week, when Noah is near someone who is arguing with another person or he hears an argument nearby, he must intervene and act as a mediator. The end result of the argument doesn't matter- Noah just needs to make sure he hears both sides of the story and help resolve it.

Concordia, however, is not a god, but rather a horrid demon by the name of Berith. Berith is one who is playing the long game through manipulation, his main interests being in violence and lies. Despite the supposed "good nature" of Concordia and their contract price, Berith quietly encourages Noah to give in to the intrusive violent thoughts that show up in his head from time to time. However, Berith plans to make this much much worse over time for Noah, so eventual possession and dragging into the Spirit Realm is very possible.

    Character Name: Dr. Veritas Ratio
    Canon: Honkai: Star Rail
    Canon History: Wiki link

The tl;dr version is that he was sponsored into an honors college program very young, earned eight degrees and helped revolutionize the planet's energy production, then went on to teach classes there for a while. At some point he moved on to helping other worlds with infrastructure and defense projects, but despite his education and accomplishments, the Aeon of Knowledge has never deigned to acknowledge him as a "genius", because he works to the benefit of others instead of single-mindedly pursuing some particular interest at the expense of the rest of the galaxy. Disillusioned and embittered by this, he's chosen to embrace that rejection as a part of his identity, and joined the working-class Intelligentsia Guild instead, to focus on spreading knowledge and education across the galaxy and uplifting as many people as he can reach.

    Canon Personality:

Arrogant Intellectual - Lack of acknowledgement by Nous aside, Ratio is a genius by most mundane definitions, and he has been all his life, and he's very aware of it. To his view, there's no point in pretending that he's an ordinary person with ordinary limitations, when he's been capable of so much from such a young age, and he doesn't bother with false humility. He is the smartest person most people will ever meet; why shouldn't he acknowledge that?

Meticulous and Fastidious - Ratio is personally affronted by logical contradictions, inconsistencies, ignorance, and general untidiness whether physical or otherwise. He would prefer for all the world to flow as cleanly and elegantly as a mathematical proof, with no corruption or inefficiency, and his dedication to the path of The Hunt is in service to his desire to root these things out and eliminate them. He won't hesitate to brutally critique any fallacies that cross his path.

Strategic and Clear-sighted - His belief in logic and dislike for contradiction would seem to lead to a very straightforward personality, and certainly he prefers to deal openly and honestly whenever possible; but Ratio is very clear on the discrepancies between his ideal world and the one he actually lives in. You can't fight corruption if you can't identify it, and his lifelong battle against the scourge of ignorance is one that must be fought strategically, without expending his energy on useless measures. He is perfectly capable of deceiving others and concealing his goals and motivations from people he can't trust.

Compassionate and Idealistic - Ratio believes very strongly that education should be available to everyone, regardless of their station in life or their starting point. Intelligence and creativity can be found plentifully in the common people and not only in the elite of the galaxy, and if they fail to manifest it is only because they are rarely cultivated properly. Although he is a harsh critic and a demanding teacher, Ratio believes above all else that people need to fail and pick themselves up again, and deserve to have the space and safety to do so: because humility and understanding your own ignorance are what will lead toward the path of learning and wisdom for anyone who chooses to walk that road, "genius" or no.

    AU Name: n/a
AU Age: 30 (no age specified in canon but he appears to be in the late-20s-early-30s range there)
    AU Birthday: Feb 5

AU History: On the glowing recommendation of a teacher who recognized his genius early, Ratio entered college at sixteen, and graduated with a degree in advanced mathematics two years later. He's been at the university ever since, eventually transitioned from attending classes to teaching them, and has continued gradually growing more eccentric and opinionated with each passing year. Despite his main focus being on math and physics, he has a strong interest in philosophy and ethics, and is known for his willingness to engage in debates with anyone who can stand the sharpness of his tongue.

He's traveled around the world to speak at conferences and occasionally participate in research projects elsewhere, but despite offers from more prestigious institutions, he's never seriously considered leaving his position at Kaisou University. He'd rather teach scholarship students than leave his mark on the children of society's elite, and someone who's truly interested in what he can teach them rather than the status of being taught won't mind the loss of prestige from coming here rather than going to a school with more name recognition.

AU Personality Differences: The biggest difference is just in breadth of experience - fussy geniuses are the same everywhere, but this version is a little bit less worn to cynicism from the excesses of Extreme Space Capitalism.

Character Name: March 7th (birth name unknown, for all intents and purposes this is her name)
    Canon: Honkai: Star Rail
Canon Point: 2.1 update, post-A Walk Among the Tombstones/post-Aventurine boss fight
Age: [GOOSE HONKS] she has no idea, but physically we'll say she's in her early 20s. so 22.
Birthday: real birthday unknown, so she uses March 7 as her birth date, because this was when the Astral Express crew thawed her out and she woke up.
History: March's lore on the HSR wiki!
    Personality:
  • CUTE - March is cute and she knows it. In fact she prides herself on this and has made it a huge part of who she is as a person. She has adorable stuffed toys in her room, she loves dressing up and looking cute, she's excited when she's near cute animals. Her skill, where she casts a shield to protect an ally, is called The Power of Cuteness. She's a very girly type and she likes it, why should she hide it?

  • NAIVE - March, like her friend the Trailblazer, is an amnesiac. she woke up some time ago sans any memories and took the name March 7th after the date she was awoken on. as such, her morality tends to be more black and white and idealistic than the rest of the crew—in her view, there are Good Guys and there are Bad Guys, and they tend to act in a way that are influenced by her initial perceptions of them and by what she reads. Her idea of Luocha, in the Luocha companion quest, is as a scheming arch villain metaphorically twirling his mustache as he runs around Being Suspicious—when he's actually a far more complicated person than that.

  • IMPULSIVE - March has a habit of running off on her friends, as evidenced by Dan Heng's voice line when they're added to the same team ("March, stay with the group, don't rush off"). She also tends to make snap judgments on other people and go from there, sticking to them until given evidence things are otherwise, which don't always pan out for her and her friends. That said, she's willing to change her mind, remaining open to many possibilities as befitting a Nameless.

  • ENTHUSIASTIC - March is the cheeriest member of the Astral Express crew! She comes to trailblazing expeditions optimistic about their chances of a successful expedition and always willing to help out other people (even if occasionally she might complain about being the errand girl). She loves sightseeing, and takes pictures of everything around her that catches her eye, whether it's food or landmarks or people. New things will always catch her eye, and she'll rush off even just to take a closer look, something that exasperates even her fellow Nameless sometimes.

  • INEXPERIENCED - As an amnesiac, March simply doesn't have a whole lot of experience to draw on, which means that, when compared to her friends and fellow crew members, she can come off as a bit of a ditz sometimes. Which she is, to some degree, but a lot of it comes from the fact that she doesn't know as much as the rest do about the universe at large. Sometimes something that seems quite obvious to them will fly right over her head because she hasn't got a frame of reference for it. She more than makes up for this inexperience with a real willingness to learn and figure things out, though.

  • KIND - March is just a kind person at heart. She comes to trailblazing expeditions with the very best of intentions, seeking to connect and explore but also to help other people and to defend the innocent. She doesn't like to see her friends hurt, and her entire skill is about providing them with a shield and firing back at enemies that could hurt them. If she saw a little bird with a broken wing, she'd pick it up, carefully build it a cage, and nurse it back to health.

  • NAMELESS - As part of the Astral Express crew, March is a Nameless, following the Path of the Trailblaze by the Aeon Akivili. Like her fellow crew members, she's determined to help other people and she treasures the ideals of freedom, willing to stand up for it even when the odds are stacked against them. She believes in her friends and will stand by their side through thick and thin, but she's used to leaving places behind and never really staying long as well—being a Nameless means she's always traveling, always on the move, so she never really sticks around in one place for long enough to put down roots. She may not even know how to.

  • Time of Arrival to Kaisou: app date! currently, she's from literally just after the Aventurine boss fight in 2.1—she has no idea where the rest of the crew is, and she doesn't know what exactly drove Aventurine to such an extreme as threatening their lives to prove a point. I imagine that her labyrinth is a horrifying mash-up of the Goethe Hotel in Belobog (where she and her friends were almost arrested Thanks Cocolia) and Penacony's Memory Zone, which is...trippy as hell.
    Items:
    - her camera! it was once possessed by a heliobus but now the heliobus has long since been released into the cosmos.
    - some Trick Snacks.
    - her bow, she was holding it at the time as she and the crew were fighting Aventurine.
    - her phone.
Retained Abilities: here's a reference sheet of her canon abilities. essentially, March canonically has the ability to control Six-Phased Ice, and uses it to freeze her enemies in place with her arrows, as well as shield her allies from their attacks. her retained abilities are as follows:
    - Power of Cuteness: March is able to cast a shield for one ally at a time. 2 pts for the basic shield sans any debuffs or healing abilities, and it lasts 30 seconds each time.
    - Frigid Cold Arrow: March conjures an arrow made of ice and fires it at an enemy, with a chance of freezing them in place if it breaks their toughness bar finds a weak spot. 2 pts under elemental spell as a medium-powered conjuration. She also can fire an ice arrow at an enemy if they chip at or break her shield.
    - Six-Phased Ice Manipulation: March can conjure bits of Six-Phased Ice from nowhere for various purposes, from blocking gun barrels to putting it in the Matrix of Prescience to, I'm assuming, cool off a hot cup. She doesn't seem like she's able to summon up more than handfuls of it in canon, so I'd say 2 pts, basic elemental manipulation.

    Character Name: Aventurine
    Canon: Honkai: Star Rail
Canon History: Here's his lore page. A broader view is available on the Avgin article, which mentions how he became the sole survivor of his tribe.

    Canon Personality:
🎲 Clever. Aventurine is a crafty man. His first appearance on screen has him cutting a deal with the Astral Express crew that will benefit both of them. An astute businessman, he's quite used to compromise, but he warns the Trailblazer that he never loses.

🎲 Manipulative. Part and parcel of running with the IPC means knowing how to pull the strings to get what you want. Throughout the entire Penacony arc, his endgame is very difficult to guess, because every time it seems like he suffers a setback he's actually five steps ahead and planning for every eventuality.

🎲 Concealed. Underneath all the masks he wears, Aventurine makes sure that he doesn't pin his heart on his sleeve. To be open is to be vulnerable. This is even echoed in a prayer from his childhood: "[May] your schemes [be] forever concealed."

🎲 Reckless. Though he often takes a more measured approach, his risks are still far too great for most of his colleagues. He has a bit of a reputation for rushing into things seemingly with no backup plan, counting on his luck to get him through. Even so, he has never seen himself as having a 'future'.

🎲 Adventurous. Even when he isn't running into things headfirst, he's known as a risk-taker and generally open to trying new things and seeing new experiences. He is determined to live life to its fullest.

🎲 Strategic. Though his madness may not seem to have a method, Aventurine's entire role in the plot is to set up everything in just the right way so that when the chips fall, his goals will be achieved, as well as illuminating the 'truth' of what is happening in Penacony. Of course, he does this as great risk to himself, but he's always been his strongest chess piece. As a nod to this, his eidolons (upgrades from having multiple copies of his unit, like Genshin constellations) and shorts reference principles of game theory, like the Prisoner's Dilemma and Non-Zero Sum Game.

🎲 Cynical. His manner is generally very friendly, if not open, but a few layers down Aventurine is quite jaded. Having seen the worst and best of humanity, it makes sense that he would have a harsher view of the human condition. Even so, he hasn't let it poison his heart, buried as it is.

🎲 Generous. To the people Aventurine sees as friends, he is incredibly generous. This is not only true for business partners but for those he is actually open to. His appearances before the Trailblazer are full of confusion and mystery and also a lot of free money, as if he believes he can win people over with gold (and he's right). But later on in private text conversations, he expresses his gratitude to the Trailblazer and apologizes for all the trouble he caused, and he also doesn't mind buying them a bunch of presents when going shopping. Coming from a place of scarcity, Aventurine isn't interested in hogging it all to himself; he seems to see money as both a means to an end and also understands that money brings security and comfort to those less fortunate.

🎲 Vengeful. Aventurine might work for the ShinRa Co. of Space Capitalism, but that doesn't mean he's been swallowing their propaganda. The IPC was directly responsible for the downfall of his tribe on Sigonia and the deaths of his clan and family. There are heavy hints that he's accumulating power so he can bring it all down someday (which is why Sunday asked him if he wants to destroy the world).

🎲 Lonely. Though his blessing from the gods of perfect luck has brought him great fortune, it also has destroyed everyone around him. He has moments of self-doubt where he wonders what the point of even having this blessing is, when he can't repay the people who helped him survive this long.

🎲 Guilty. Aventurine spends a good amount of his life wanting to die so the suffering will stop, but he just keeps winning. He suffers from survivor's guilt as well as guilt over the things he's done to other people, even if he might pretend otherwise in the moment.

🎲 Fearful. As stated by his 'future self' in a hallucination, Aventurine is terrified of losing, even if it's something that he kind of wants to happen. He puts on a brave face, all bravado, even if he's the biggest coward of all. This tell is the truth: in every scene where he is rolling dice or gambling in some way, he hides one arm behind his back, because he's trembling. Even in his boss form!

🎲 Low self-esteem. Aventurine doesn't feel deserving of what he has, even though he fought hard for the right to live. His life came at the cost of the people he loves most, and there's no doubt he'd trade it all for one more day with them. He refers to himself as a coward, a loser, and several other derogatory terms in the quest journal as he loses his grip on his sanity.

🎲 Loving. One thing that Aventurine makes clear is that he "never changed." He may not have much in common with the little boy Kakavasha who was so treasured and protected by his tribe, and he may have had his will tempered into a sword, but he is still every bit the same boy who loves and adores his family above all else. He hasn't forgotten them at all.

🎲 Determined. At the end of his story arc in Penacony, losing his grip on his sanity and almost forgetting himself, he opens the 'prescription' that Ratio gave him and discovers a note telling him to live on. Aventurine has many complicated feelings about his life and the people in it, but this is the perfect capstone to everything he has endured for the sake of illuminating the truth about the dream world. Staring down a black hole that could easily swallow him, Aventurine accepts his past, finally looks forward to a future (and his place in it), and steps into the unknown.

🎲 Yearns for freedom. In a storyline rife with caged bird references, Aventurine is a blatant and somewhat hamfisted reference to the Romani people and their persecution in the real world. He won his freedom by killing his captor in canon, but now wears the shackles of the IPC (symbolized by bracelets on his wrists and a choker). By dying with such spectacle in front of so many people, he not only got them to doubt the veracity of the sweet dream, but also granted his own deepest wish: to win by losing, and perhaps even win his freedom from the IPC. His fate, ultimately, has not been decided by the end of 2.2., but he seems to think the IPC will keep him on even if he lost his powers.

    AU Name: "Aventurine" Kai Altin
    AU Age: 30
    AU Birthday: May 5th

    AU History:
cw: vague mentions of abuse and human trafficking

Aventurine was born in Eastern Thrace. His born name was Kai, and he was the younger of twins. His family had worked as gemcutters and miners for as long as any of them could remember, making money by selling their product wholesale to bigger vendors. Their community was occasionally visited by a man with a young face and a breeze by his side (Venti).

However, when Kai was about 10 years old, things took a dire turn. His father accidentally earned the ire of an organized crime leader and they came down hard on their little community, killing several of Kai's family members and making the women and children disappear. Kai and his sister were separated and sent outside of the country. He was trafficked for several years, and he assumed his family members were dead. Finally in his late teens, he managed (after excruciatingly-detailed planning) to kill his captor.

He got his hands on some forged papers and came to the US at 17. Then he worked under the table until he was able to get citizenship.

His legal papers have the unusual name of Aventurine, as it was common for his family to have multiple names in different contexts. Thus, he was reborn. He found it easier to live in places where paranormal people lived; he always believed in the supernatural even if he didn't think he had any talents himself (besides being... lucky, sometimes). He preferred the underground because people looked the other way.

As he got older, he held several jobs at once so he could attend college and get a bachelors degree in business. Despite a generally amicable relationship with his roommate Noctis, Aventurine grew more paranoid and isolated in junior year, which led to a huge falling-out. Aventurine realized he had been spotted by his former captor's colleagues and dropped out of school with no warning, changed his phone number, and disappeared from public record for a while.

He resurfaced as a cleaner, a convenience store worker, and then finally as a card shark in a casino. After he turned 21, his eyes changed to freaky glowing purple/blue overnight and he realized he couldn't work normal jobs anymore. He sought employment at Zodiac instead and started from the very bottom, and has worked there ever since. Having aspirations and luck on his side means he climbed the ladder over time, until he was trusted to write up reports on sidequests and hand out rewards.

A few months ago, however, his fortunes changed. After losing a bet and accidentally setting free a cursed artifact that ran all over the city and started another chain of sidequests, Aventurine was demoted back to menial office work. Additionally, he was forced to take on extra duties as a "favor" to his supervisor: namely managing Robin and her newfound solo career, with an added side of "if you fail at this we will demote you further". He juggles both and keeps an eye on her.

    AU Personality Differences:

Though his childhood has been undoubtedly rough, Aventurine is slightly less inclined to do something like put a gun to his chest and pull the trigger multiple times. He knows his luck isn't infallible.

He understands that his life is precious and that he should do everything he can with the time he's been given, but he's dragged down by the capitalist hellscape he's in and the lack of fulfillment in his job and current life. It's an easy life, sure, but it isn't what he wants. He's not sure what he wants. Vengeance, maybe? Even though he's afraid of facing his past head on, he knows there is a reckoning coming in some way, and he just doesn't know the form.

As he grows in both past memories and ambition, he will probably begin to resemble his canon self more than just surface-wise.

    Element: Light

    Purchased Flaws:
Vengeance - High (+3 pts) - If someone wrongs you, you will feel unsettled until you do something to get back at them.

    Purchased Powers:
Luck - Constant (4 pts) - Blessed with constant luck. This will affect gacha results and give a +4 to all side quest rolls.
Teleportation - Low (3 pts) - Can teleport to places they've been before (solo).

    Appearance Regains:
Glowing purple/blue eyes (2 pts) - Eyes with low magical ability (glowing eyes). They don't do anything else.
