[This is how Zodiac lets people know? Ugh. They really are the worst. And if that wasn't bad enough, it wasn't even the complete list. So while Elliot is REALLY tempted to throw his phone aside, he feels people have a right to know. So he'll type up the names of the people he knows were the soccer match (sorry Napstablook)]

Hunter, Usagi, Ken, Miyako and Zelos were also killed. They died to stop La Llorona. I guess Zodiac didn't mention them because they're in the other group chat.

I'm sorry to everyone for their losses. Please take the time you need and be kind to yourselves.

In a way, I guess. There was a ghost killing people, and Zodiac asked people to go into the Spirit Realm to stop it.

Unfortunately, the only way to do it was through sacrifices.

I don't know. I don't deal with Zodiac all that much. I only went because people were in danger.

They all volunteered before I could stop them.

[There is a noticable delay before he starts typing. Souta doesn't want to lie, but he also doesn't want to burden others who are already going through so much.]

[Souta's heart sinks a little, recalling the scene he remembered during the ballgame. If that memory is be believed, he will in fact try to sacrifice himself again. Or perhaps has done so in the past.]

[But he also doesn't want to worry Elliot. So rather than sharing that, he uses the words he heard in the memory to better understand Elliot's position.]

["Don't try to handle this by yourselves! You're not the only ones who don't want to lose the people they care about!"]

I'm sorry. I was so focused on stopping the ghost, I didn't consider how it would affect everyone else.

[And now they had lost friends. Even if the ghost might have killed more, the deaths still hurt.]

[Seeing that message makes his heart sink. Yeah, this is exactly why it wasn't a good thing to put kids that age into that kind of danger. They haven't developed the skills to think things through like this, to consider the ramifications. He's very sure Souta just saw the problem and immediately wanted to help]

I know. You were trying to help. But if there's either another deadly competition, which I HOPE there isn't ....please leave it to the adults to decide what should be done, okay?

[He was already dead, wasn't he? Or was he alive again? Ris had never been quite sure how that worked, but he was her friend, he wasn't allowed to be—]

[Ah...this must be one of Zelos's friends. He doesn't really know that guy personally, or her, but he can at least answer the question. Though through text. He's just not up to talking]

A lot of us went into the Spirit Realm to investigate how to stop La Llorona. As it turns out, she was sent by to reap souls to help fuel the realm. A god there offered a deal instead, where if some of us played a soccer game, they'd sacrifice the losing team and La Llorona would cease her attack.

Zelos was among the losing team. I'm really sorry.

What the fuck. What the actual fuck.

She has no reason to believe this guy is lying. She's poked around Libra enough to at least picked up some things— he's a teacher, right? He's always the one badgering the high school kids. There's no way some guy who updates the app to make sure the kids know about final exams is going to just lie about several people dying.

But Zelos? Why the hell would Zelos have sacrificed himself? Sure, she can imagine him wanting to stop La Llorona— she presumes that's the thing that killed her— as much as the next guy, but he never really struck her as someone who would launch himself headfirst into self-sacrifice. She always thought him too pragmatic for that kind of selfless heroism.

So why? Unless he was looking to die...?

...She's going to cry. Or throw up. Or, more than likely, both. And frankly, she doesn't want anyone to hear any of that, so back to text it is. It takes her a while, and the text is only spelled correctly thanks to autocorrect, but eventually there is a response.]
