Hunter, Usagi, Ken, Miyako and Zelos were also killed. They died to stop La Llorona. I guess Zodiac didn't mention them because they're in the other group chat.
I'm sorry to everyone for their losses. Please take the time you need and be kind to yourselves.
un: noxxed
its rough as it is seeing people dead, probably was rough telling us that info too.
no subject
Not good, if I'm honest.
Rean was an old friend of mine. And so many who died were students and kids...
no subject
even worse is how zodiac just acts like everything is OK. like people died and it's time to just move on. too bad, so sad!
fuck zodiac.
no subject
Even if they sent a nice message, everyone would still be dead.
no subject
sorry for your loss, wish i could say more than that.
no subject
I'm going to take some time off from work. If you go, keep an eye on the kids?
no subject
just take care of yourself in the meantime.

So this had something to do with Zodiac?
no subject
In a way, I guess. There was a ghost killing people, and Zodiac asked people to go into the Spirit Realm to stop it.
Unfortunately, the only way to do it was through sacrifices.

Rean was an old friend. And Arthur and Usagi were also students in my class. [And hunter, but we already know about him]
They all volunteered before I could stop them.

Hopefully more can be done than simply this.

[Souta is understandably not feeling too chatty, but he appreciates the message.]
Thank you.
un: ecraig
Souta. How are you feeling?
no subject
[And they all are.]
Tired.
It's a good thing I finished my report early.
[Them again, it might have provided a good distraction from all the complicated thoughts he's stuck with now.]
no subject
Yeah...though it's really not what I had in mind when we talked about that.
Please, don't ever do that again.
no subject
[Souta's heart sinks a little, recalling the scene he remembered during the ballgame. If that memory is be believed, he will in fact try to sacrifice himself again. Or perhaps has done so in the past.]
[But he also doesn't want to worry Elliot. So rather than sharing that, he uses the words he heard in the memory to better understand Elliot's position.]
["Don't try to handle this by yourselves! You're not the only ones who don't want to lose the people they care about!"]
I'm sorry. I was so focused on stopping the ghost, I didn't consider how it would affect everyone else.
[And now they had lost friends. Even if the ghost might have killed more, the deaths still hurt.]
no subject
I know. You were trying to help. But if there's either another deadly competition, which I HOPE there isn't ....please leave it to the adults to decide what should be done, okay?
[At LEAST wait until you're old enough to see an R-rated movie before you do an R-rated activity like death soccer ok]

Wait. Wait, hold on. What?
What the hell happened? He's— Zelos was—
[He was already dead, wasn't he? Or was he alive again? Ris had never been quite sure how that worked, but he was her friend, he wasn't allowed to be—]
What happened?
[It's all she can ask, and she sounds quite a bit more shaken up about this than she did about the fact that she died at all.]
UN: ecraig
A lot of us went into the Spirit Realm to investigate how to stop La Llorona. As it turns out, she was sent by to reap souls to help fuel the realm. A god there offered a deal instead, where if some of us played a soccer game, they'd sacrifice the losing team and La Llorona would cease her attack.
Zelos was among the losing team. I'm really sorry.
text; un: spiderlily; cw: emeto mention, talk of suicidal ideation
What the fuck. What the actual fuck.
She has no reason to believe this guy is lying. She's poked around Libra enough to at least picked up some things— he's a teacher, right? He's always the one badgering the high school kids. There's no way some guy who updates the app to make sure the kids know about final exams is going to just lie about several people dying.
But Zelos? Why the hell would Zelos have sacrificed himself? Sure, she can imagine him wanting to stop La Llorona— she presumes that's the thing that killed her— as much as the next guy, but he never really struck her as someone who would launch himself headfirst into self-sacrifice. She always thought him too pragmatic for that kind of selfless heroism.
So why? Unless he was looking to die...?
...She's going to cry. Or throw up. Or, more than likely, both. And frankly, she doesn't want anyone to hear any of that, so back to text it is. It takes her a while, and the text is only spelled correctly thanks to autocorrect, but eventually there is a response.]
Thank you for the information

Of course. I'm sorry for your loss.
