I think I came off as cool the first time around. [He absolutely and catergorically did not do that. ] And I'd rather her remember herself NOW and not get to know me a second time.

Oh well that makes things easy, just act however you did before again and I'm sure you'll get along fine.

I mean, if she remembers living a whole life here, whether it's real or not, it still matters to her. So wouldn't it be wrong to try to force her to be like how you remember her for your own convenience?

[Zelos is right. He knows Zelos is right and guilt pools in his chest. Forcing her to be the Catalina he knows would be an old Varian move, and he's trying desperately not to be that person anymore. ]

I guess not. I just don't know what to do here. I can't just pretend I made a mistake or something and I'm-

I'm worried she won't be the only one, maybe there's other people from home here who've had completely different lives or their memories messed with or whatever. ANd I
m worried that her sister will show up and find her like this. That would destroy her.

I just hate all of this.

Whoa, calm down there. Stop getting yourself worked up over problems that haven't even happened. Maybe it'll work out like that, but maybe it won't. And if it does, you can find a way to deal with it then. Whatever will be, will be.

[It's been over a year and he hasn't run into anyone from home. Thankfully. Maybe that'll be the same for this guy]

As for what you can do, I'm not sure there's anything you HAVE to do. If you wanna get to know this girl who she is now, do that. If you think it'd be too awkward, stay clear.

But I need to be PREPARED. It's no good just waiting and seeing what will happen, then I won't be ready if it DOES!!

[But people are making a lot of sense- at least in how to handle Catalina and he hates that they are. It makes his chest hurt, everything about this feels so deeply wrong. Like he's letting her down. ]

So it's just a case of acting like she's a stranger to me?

Yeah, except the part where there's nothing you can do to prepare. Siblings, for example, always have a complicated relationship. As an outsider to that bond, you have no way to predict how that interaction will go. Maybe her sister will be crushed, or maybe she'll decide that's not her sister, or decide to accept her as is- whose to say until it happens?

[God knows his relationship with his sister is so complicated even he failed to predict things]

If that's what helps, yeah. Ghaleon's tip of pretending she's a relative doesn't sound like a bad idea either.

[He hates this, he hates this so much. He wishes he could talk to Rapunzel. She always knows what to do. But he can't, so he's going to have to take what's being said here and try and make it work. However much he wishes it was different.]

I guess you're right. I can't do anything at all, can I? I just have to wait and see. I really hate not being able to be ready.

[Varian's a planner- when he wings it, it always ends...badly. ]

Just a relative who looks exactly the same as her...but yeah. It might help put some distance there. I don't know.

I knoooow, it sucks right? But sometimes that's how it is. These are the kinds of things you really can't plan.

It's worth a shot, at least. Just take your time with it. Be yourself, or whatever.

Does it happen a lot here, do you think? It sounds like there's a few cases already.

[Because if MORE people from home end up being here with completely different lives...well. He's not sure how well he'll cope with that. ]

Yep, really! I was among the first of the otherworlders. Zodiac was so confused when we showed up.

[Also a little traumatized, considering they had to deal with Zelos and Ana as their first isekais. Pour one out for them.]

So there WAS a starting point for people showing up. Did you notice anything unusual when you arrived? Aside from being in another world anyway? I'm trying to understand what triggered this to start happening, because if we can do that, then we can find a way to eventually stop it.

I was mostly focused on that part, so if there were any other little details I probably overlooked them.

[So whatever runs this world can REVIVE THE DEAD apparently- though people did say they'd died in that soccer match, right? And they're...alive now. Varian's seen someone come back from the dead before, but that was the Sundrop's power. This feels...different. ]

Congrats on not being dead anymore? I wonder if there are more cases like you here.
