Is there a place I can go to look into what sort of place this world is? A library or somesuch?

I mean sure, there's libraries.

But there's also google if you wanna do it fast. [He'll explain how to use google on the phone don't make me type it out] You can enter questions and it'll come up with different resources to answer!

Are those resources trustworthy? That seems rather like asking a question to the market at large.

Eh, depends on the resource? Some stuff is more trustworthy than others, you'll learn how to gauge for yourself over time, but usually if a claim sounds out there, try to find evidence or proof to verify.
