Yes. It's a long story, but the short version is that my family got their attention in a terrible way. So I've been keeping well off their radar as much as possible, ever since.

Now that they're under new management, I figure it's safe enough to come out of hiding. I've...missed the sound of it, to be honest with you.

I'm kidding. I understand the importance of a name, whether you were born with it or not. It's one of the first things in this life we're given.

You joke, but if ever I'm replaced by a shapeshifter, you ought to ask how to pronounce the whole thing. The name will trip them up.

I know. Names carry with them a sense of history, whether one you were born with or one that you chose. Mine just happens to have a rather long family history.

Some people have names they only use with family, too. [After losing his twin for so long, it was the thing that convinced him that she was real.]

Others, when they come into their own, take a name that signifies a different history and meaning from one they grew up with. And still others have to hide their names for their own safety.

Randall was a nice fiction while it lasted, but it never quite felt right. [Would Aventurine know? The way he’s texting, it sounds like he has some personal experience with names and how they change.]

You should have gone with an extremely obscure Eastern European name. It would've given you a similar enigmatic vibe. I'm happy to help if you need that particular fiction again~

As for me... I think I'm fine keeping a certain name to myself, for several reasons. The one I'm wearing now makes a statement on its own, don't you think? I've become rather fond of it.
