OLD PAGE. GO TO THE CURRENT REGAIN PAGE HERE
As a character spends time in Kaisou, they can gain (or regain) different perks. These come in many different forms, and can either be things that came from their original canons or new items altogether, depending on what you're interested in! Instead of requesting threads for regains, a set number of regains will be obtainable each month. Each character will get a total of 4 points each month to spend on regains. Any unused points will get rolled over each month, so players can save up and spend big.
If you want to see the old regain page, you can view them here: Year 1 (2022) | Year 2 (2023)
Memory Regains
Characters who are modern AU will occasionally get flashbacks to previous lives (aka their memories from their original canon). Memory regains are triggered organically through threads and interactions, usually through repeating actions that are similar to the original memory. At this time, no one is sure why these memories are surfacing. Perhaps it indicates you are a reincarnation, or it's simply an echo from another universe.
Memory regains do not require mod approval and there is no maximum number you can regain a month.
Item, Appearance, and Ability Regains
Characters can obtain items and abilities that came from their original canon world. It must be an item or ability that the character would've reasonably been able to have access to and/or owned in their canon (No Infinity Stones for Peter Parker, in other words). You can weaken abilities to regain them at a lesser cost, and then boost their power by future regain points.
AU characters can also regain features to their appearance that they had in their original canon (OU characters don't have to bother with that as they come looking like their canon selves).
Characters may also gain new abilities that are unique to Kaisou. For more information about Kaisou's power system and the potential abilities, you can read up about it here.
THE FOLLOWING LISTED ARE FOR CANON ABILITIES AND OTHER REGAINABLE ITEMS. IF YOU WANT NEW POWERS, PLEASE CONSULT THE ELEMENTAL POWER PAGE. That is also the page to select from when picking powers for Paranormal AU backgrounds!

Refunding Gacha Goodwill purchases
If you've purchased some items from the Gacha Goodwill that you don't wish to keep, you can turn it to this post in exchange for gacha pulls. For every 2 items that you turn in, you will receive 1 gacha pull. This applies to goodwill and grab bag items. While there's no minimum timeframe you have to hold onto these items, we will not do refunds on days Goodwill is open.
If you wish to refund other items that WEREN'T purchased at the goodwill, you can do so over at the Gacha Goodwill when it's open.
If you wish to do so, please fill out this form:

Regain Community Pool
Wish to obtain a regain but lack the points for it? Starting The mod team is offering a pool of points that anyone can use! These points are brought in by player donations and whatever points don't get used by gacha goodwill once someone drops.
When you wish to use these points, please specify so in your comment. Limits vary based on the type of regain.
If you're looking to purchase a world regain, each player is allowed to use 8 points per month from the pool. Please specify in your comment that you're using it from the community pool!
Meanwhile during November & December 2024, we are test-piloting using the community pool for personal regains! During this test period players can use up to 4 points towards personal regains that they cannot afford either fully or partially. Just please specify in your comment that you're planning to use community pool points.
If you wish to donate points to the community pool, you can! For every 6 points that players donate to the pool, they will receive a special gift as a thank you.
Donation Gifts & Form
Players can choose one of the following for their thank you gift.
- Genshin Impact Vision (Element is up to player, limit one per character)
- Trails series ARCUS
- Tokyo Xanadu Soul Device
- A Persona (limit one per character unless they're the canon equivalent of a Persona wildcard)
- FFX-2 Dressphere
- Friendship Power Bracelet (see gacha goodwill)
- Free Real Estate (see gacha goodwill)
- Unlisted Monster type (meaning your character can become a monster that's not currently listed. However this monster type will need to be mod approved)
- One Legendary Pokemon, depowered (not Arceus or Mewtwo)
If you wish to donate, please fill out this form here
Filling out Regain Descriptions
Unfortunately, the mod team does not have the time or resources to possibly become canon familiar with every single canon out there. Because of that, when you fill out your regain descriptions: please explain it in a manner that a canon blind person can reasonably understand. For instance we don't need you to explain what a sword is, but a basic explanation of a keyblade is would help. We don't need full essays, but please try to avoid any canon terminology when a common English word will do. If you HAVE to use canon-terminology, define in your comment what it means. You can link resources to help explain, but please try to use resources that are canon-blind friendly.
Here's a guideline of typical things the mods like to know:
- What does the item do?
- How powerful is it?
- Does it have any abilities that are potentially gamebreaking?
- What are the limitations on it?
- How big is it?
Should a regain request come off as confusing to the regain mods, the regain mods will ask once for clarification regarding the parts that confuse them. If the player is unable to clarify what the mod was confused about in their following comment, the regain will be automatically-rejected and the player will need to wait 24 hours before they can submit the regain again.
This clarification rule ONLY applies to regains that have been submitted to this page. If you want to talk to a mod about questions you have with the regain before you submit, you're free to do so either on the FAQ page or in the Mod Questions channel in the discord.
When Should I Expect My Regains to Get Approved?
The regain mod team hold office hours from 2pm EST to 4pm EST on every day EXCEPT most Tuesdays & Thursdays (except the ones that fall during busy times in the month such as when AC is going on), and major holidays (aka Christmas, New Years, etc). Sometimes regains will get approved outside of office hours, but please don't count on it. If you have questions on what days the regain office will be open, you can check the game calendar.
Occasionally if a regain request is particularly complicated, it may be put on hold while a decision about it can be made. However, even in cases like that it should take no longer than one week, so if your regain hasn't be responded to in a week - feel free to contact us and let us know because that most likely means it got missed somehow!
That said, if you need need to contact us about your regains, we ask that you do not privately contact any regain mods about your regains. If you have any questions about your regains, please use the proper channels: the game discord, the FAQ page, or the mod contact page. Thank you!
FINAL IMPORTANT NOTE: While the Activity Check is underway (typically the 28th - 30/31st) we ask that you do not comment with a regain UNLESS you have completed your AC for the current month. Once you have cleared AC, you can go purchase as you like. Thank you!
Clarification
Thank you!
Re: Clarification
2.) Carbuncle is lil, and is the most like a companion. It'll follow you around, attack for you, and can transform into the various other summons. Bahamut is a little bigger than a human, and does a big dragon blast attack before fading. Ifrit is small, maybe like the size of a smallish dog, and does a fire attack before fading. Garuda is the same size as Ifrit and does a wind attack before vanishing.
3.) /shrug!!!! Uh it's the weapon used for summoning, basically. Sometime it's called a tome. basically it is a Fancy Magic Book
4.) oh whoops. I meant Rime. But basically it's like a magical blast attack, associated with the element of the summon you have (or just kind of a... neutral? if none are summoned?). Only FFXIV doesn't really use elemental weakness or anything so it's just kind... a magic attack.
Further Clarification
For the future, please keep in mind the mods are a team of unpaid volunteers who take hours out of their lives every week to make this RP what it is. So when we ask for clarification, we ask that you not treat us in a flippant manner. Please give us clear and thorough explanations that'd be understandable to canon blind people, and not "shrug!!!". If we can't understand what we're signing off on, we're not allowing it - it's as simple as that.
Now, let's move on the regains:
1) Grimoire: Please explain what the Grimoire does beyond being a "fancy magic book". Which Grimoire are you thinking? There are dozens in FFXIV, so you need to pick one. Does it have any attacks on its own or is it simply a way to channel magic? And if it has its own attacks, what are the strength of the spells? This greatly affects the value of the points.
2) Carbuncle: Regaining Carbuncle is fine, but based on his sizing through my own research, he would cost 3 points (as he's both magical and more fitting in the medium animal companion tier) rather than 1.
Now moving on, according to our mods that are familiar with FFXIV, there is a feature that lets you make the summons appear smaller for the sake of visibility. However these are not canon sizes and I think this is where some of the confusion came from. I'll be treating them based on their canon sizes (aka when you don't mess with the size).
3) Bahamut: Based on my research, this is how big a Bahamut summon can get, which would make it fall in our "very large magical animal companion" size - so Bahamut would cost 8 points rather than 4.
4) Ifrit: This is the image we found for Summon Ifrit. Based on that size, he will be 4 points.
5) Garuda: This is the size I found for Garuda, which would make it fall in the 4 point category.
6) Titan: This is the size of Titan, which would put him in the same category as Bahamut - making his price to be 8 points.
7) Disaster: Based on the descriptions, I think the spell you actually mean is Tri-Disaster. For the non-elemental version of it, it'd be 3 points as it's a spell that you learn around level 74 out of 90 (and thus I'm estimating it's power level to something akin to Fira).
However if you wish it to take on separate elements that'll be more expensive due to it being conjuring separate elements. If you want a version of the spell that can change to the different elements (Fire, Wind and Earth), you can either purchase each one separately for 3-points per elemental conjuring, or I can offer you a bulk purchase of all versions of Tri-Disaster (including the non-elemental version) for 10 points.
That brings us to our total point amount. Not counting the grimoire (as I need more information before I can estimate the points), your total point amount will be:
With JUST the non-elemental tri-disaster: 30 points
With the bulk purchase of all the elements for Tri-Disaster: 37 points
You are welcomed to hold off on some purchases if you wish as I know this is a lot of points. Just please let us know which purchases you still intend to get today and the information we need on the grimoire.
Thanks!
Re: Further Clarification
1.) It is simply an item used for channeling magic, as far as I can tell. I'm a little confused about needing a specific one since the nouliths didn't need one, but for simplicity's sake we'll go with The King's Grimoire, which is lvl 80. https://na.finalfantasyxiv.com/lodestone/playguide/db/item/953ab703885/
Also, that is super my bad for the summons. I and most every smn I see have them on small, I completely forgot that's a toggle and not their real size.
7.) Tri-disaster is still the AOE... I'm staring at this list of SMN skills trying to figure out wtf is which one. (this is the problem with a job where the buttons change depending on which summon you're using.) I think what I'm trying to ask for is Ruin III, which is a lvl 54 spell, but the elemental equivalents go up to lvl 82 with Catastrophe. (edit: logged in and switched to SMN to check, yeah, it is Ruin III, why is summoner like this)
For now, I will take Carbuncle, Bahamut, Garuda, and Ifrit (since I can only have four anyway I think?) so that is 19 points.
Further Clarification
Just to check, as the 19 points would only cover the 4 requested summons- are you leaving the Grimoire for another time?
Re: Further Clarification
No, I do also want the grimoire, just waiting for y'all to assign points for that. So I'll add however many that is to the 19.
Regain approved!
Regain approved- the 4 summons (Carbuncle, Bahamut, Garuda, and Ifrit) and the grimoire total 21 points. Opal can regain these at any time.
You have 12 points remaining.
