THE BLACK ORDER
The Black Order is one of the more enigmatic factions among paranormal circles. Funded and supported in secret by numerous religious organizations, members of the Black Order believe strongly in protecting the numerous holy grounds found within the Spirit Realm. Agents of the Black Order, known as Guardians, are renown for their combat prowess and abilities that far surpass normal abilities. While they have a long sorted history of attempting to restrict access to the Spirit Realm in any capacity, in the modern era they usually keep their presence concealed unless you attempt to interfere a gate that has been deemed as "sacred". Beyond that, little is known about them or what they do outside the purview of people. Even those who encounter a Black Order Guardian will have trouble recalling any identifying details about them.
In truth, the Guardians of the Black Order are comprised of folks who have awoken to their memories of their previous lives, a very rare occurrence before the start of the Kaisou incident. These folks are tracked down and recruited by the Black Order, and those who do not comply have their former memories forcibly sealed away. As such, many of the Guardians don't have the most positive view of the Order, though many still are loyal to the cause. The Order has effectively functioned this way for centuries.
The leadership of the Black Order is shrouded in mystery. It's not clear who exactly is dispensing the orders and even the Guardians never get much of a chance to meet with them. They are just given orders (often written in verse) and are expected to follow through with them. That said, the Guardians do enjoy a nice sized income and benefits (no therapy though).

🌙 All Black Order members are given a uniform that they are expected to wear while doing missions. That said these uniforms can be customized to a certain extent to match the guardian's personal aesthetic.
🌙 Those who refuse to join the Black Order or is an active hinderance to the Order have their past memories and powers fully sealed by some ancient magics. The effect of this spell is permanent and currently there's no known way to undo it. It occasionally has the side effect of sealing more than just the past life memories, sometimes giving people complete amnesia or sealing parts of their core personality. Basically, it's not pretty. That said, it takes a lot for a Guardian to get sentenced to such a fate.
🌙 The main headquarters of the Black Order is actually hidden away within the Spirit Realm, with the Gate leading to the Order being somewhere in Europe. Rumor has it that the Order is making use of an old Norse realm that was abandoned after Ragnarök. Basically, it's hard as hell to try to infiltrate the Black Order. Not only that but they tend to be rather ruthless in their security. Lethal measures and severe curses are common place in Black Order security
🌙 For the Guardians, contact points for Orders and reports are often conducted through local churches and temples. There's no one set religion though that a Black Order contact point may work at.
🌙 Florida is a notorious hot spot for paranormal activity where there are constant problems that need attending to. To the Black Order guardians, it's generally seen as the assignment you only get when you're considered bottom of the barrel. The Kaisou assignment isn't considered very prestigious either, though it's a step above Florida.
🌙 There has been two major mission teams dispatched to Kaisou in recent years. The first one, in 2022, was the Kaisou Vanguard Team, who was dispatched to monitor and investigate the unusual Spirit Vein activity, and eliminate any potential threats. Once it was decided that the Libra app users were not an immediate threat, they dispatched a long term team at the start of 2023 with the mission purpose to work along side the Libra app users as they continue to investigate the situation.
🌙 Normally while on missions, Black Order Guardians carry enchanted relics that makes it harder for people to recall identifying details about them once they leave an area. However due to the nature of the current Kaisou assignment, the Guardians within Kaisou have been denied access to these relics.
🌙 The salary of Black Order members are lucatrive ones, ranging from an annual salary of $60k-$100k depending on the type of work they do and seniority. The only exception is Zhongli who is has been with the Order extremely long but- forgot to ever request that his salary adjusts for inflation, so he currently makes an annual salary of $373.78.

A Guardian that appears young but has actually been with the Order awhile and is responsible for training several new recruits. She is the younger sister of a former Black Order Guardian, Van Grants, who went AWOL several years ago for reasons unclear. She was part of the Kaisou vanguard team, and is currently assigned elsewhere.
A former apprentice to a corrupt Spirit Realm research who experimented with possessions. Ienzo was possessed at a young age, but was eventually killed and revived without any possession thanks to the Black Order. He joined them shortly afterwards and has been focused more on research based assignments. Was part of the Kaisou vanguard team, and is currently assigned elsewhere.
The daughter of a corrupt businessman who became possessed and the Black Order had to deal with, who recruited Camilla not long after. She routinely functions as a mom-friend to many Guardians in the Order. She was part of the Kaisou vanguard team, and is currently assigned elsewhere.
A man possessed by the archangel Ramiel whose past is classified even to other Guardians. A cold and calculating man with a dislike of mortals, he's typically only sent on the the missions that can't be handled diplomatically. He was part of the Kaisou vanguard team, and is currently assigned elsewhere.
A simple minded giant of a man, who is often there to serve as muscle. He's a laid back person, and easy to get along with. Tends to view the Order as the equivalent to Spirit Realm park rangers. He was part of the Kaisou vanguard team, and is currently assigned in Kaisou.
A Guardian dubbed the "Lady of Death". She works as an attorney when she isn't performing Black Order missions, but she's regularly sent on morally reprehensible missions which she carries out with little regard. While she is quiet and well-manned with her colleagues, she definitely would be considered a bit of a zealot towards the Black Order's goals. She was part of the Kaisou vanguard team, and is currently assigned elsewhere.
One of the youngest members of the Black Order. Allen tries to be friendly and polite, but it doesn't take much to rile up his short temper and he regularly gets into arguments. Also tends to be pretty reckless and regularly bad at following orders whenever the mission doesn't follow his moral code. He was part of the Kaisou vanguard team, and is currently assigned elsewhere.
A Guardian that has been with the Order for over 15 years. While he's not as extreme as Paula or Ainchase, he's considered one of those who always follows orders without any troubles. He's been experiencing troubles recently since he turned into a cat. He was assigned to Kaisou briefly before he was transferred elsewhere.
A prosecutor that has worked with the Order for a few years. Jusis's family has darker business ties to the paranormal, much to Jusis's chagrin. A talented and intelligent Guardian, he has the unfortunate tendency to try to follow his morals more than the mission brief to the letter. He has been assigned to Kaisou, where he currently serves as the de-facto leader of the current team stationed there.
A cheerful Guardian who is extremely fight-positive. She tends to have a "point me to what to punch" approach to her missions, though she gets along well with many of her colleagues. She was assigned to Kaisou partly due to her familiarity with the city.
A young member of the Order who only recently got out of training. He was recruited by the Black Order after his past memories were causing his temper to begin to lash out. He's got a lot of anxieties and a temper, but isn't as volatile as some of his colleagues. He's been assigned to Kaisou, where Jusis serves as his temporary legal guardian.
One of the more infamous Guardians due to her cannibalistic demon powers and hostile attitude. She is bent on one day tracking down her brother's killer and murdering him. While she doesn't have much qualms following the Order's darker orders, she isn't a believer in the cause like some of the others and will disobey without a care if it suits her own goals. She was stationed in Florida for a long time, but was recently transferred to Kaisou.
A young Guardian who has a reputation for being a troublemaker. Due to a possession that most people don't know about, he starts fights on a regular basis. He's bright and a talented fighter, but his rebellious personality tends to get him trouble. He's currently assigned to Kaisou, where Jusis serves as his temporary legal guardian.
A healer that works as a Guardian. Born in England, she grew up in the foster care system and had a relatively normal life besides the wings that growing out of his head. Currently assigned to to Kaisou.
A young trainee Guardian that's been sent on his first mission. A child genius, he is incredibly eager to try to prove himself. Slight tendency to get into trouble. Was in Kaisou for awhile but currently continuing his training elsewhere.
A woman highly skilled in computers. While very powerful, she tends to isolate herself in her room due to trauma. She's currently in Kaisou serving in a support capacity.
A senior Guardian that has been with the Black Order since the 1600's when it formed. He is bound by any contract he makes. Unfortunately, he is extremely bad with money and is a constant drain on the Black Order's coffers. He is currently assigned to Kaisou.
A polite man that often works as a "mediator" between Black Order teams that are having issues. Currently, he's been assigned to Kaisou.
A Guardian that tends to get assigned to the Order's more unpleasant and brutal missions due to her abilities. Despite that, she's kind and does what she can to look after others. Currently assigned to Kaisou.
A Guardian that's also the brother of Weiss. He's usually sent to act as Lapis's minder in case her powers get out of control. Thus, he's been assigned to Kaisou.
