Other Characters: N/A

Character Name: Hythlodaeus
Canon: Final Fantasy XIV
Canon History: https://finalfantasy.fandom.com/wiki/Hythlodaeus

Canon Personality:
Polite: He's always cordial and well mannered even to strangers. It's probably just generally expected in the "perfect" Ancient culture he lived in… but he's really pleasant.

Playful: He likes having fun and wants for others to have fun... Or for others to amuse him. He'll forgo any pragmatism for that. He supports a friend kinda breaking the rules if it leads to an amusing outcome, and gives the other friend a bit of headache because he's not always straightforward and practical.

Smug: He has really good vision and perception beyond that of a normal mortal, to the point where he can claim "nothing escapes it". It makes him a little haughty in a teasing sense, like no one can hide anything from him, but only towards those he's close to. He also has a job that makes him a little sassy because it's submissions of creature concepts to be allowed into the world, and they're not always good ones (such as sharks with legs, arms, arms and legs...).

Humble: In that same vein, Hythlodaeus has only that superior eyesight as one of his talents. According to him, every skill he has is subpar in comparison to any other Ancient being, like magic or combat. Thus, he doesn't feel suited to important roles where he may be called to action.

Devoted: He cares a lot about his friends and loved ones. When his talents or position is needed by them, he's there for that without any complaint. He would always support those needing his help, and is a pretty helpful guy all around. Also, he sacrificed his life with others to summon a god, because it would save the world he loved.

Optimistic: He's cheerful! He enjoys a lot of what he does from day-to day, and doesn't let things get him down for long, even his own shortcomings. He laughs and smiles easily, and can't find total fault at things that could annoy or inconvenience him, like his job of rewiewing concepts.

AU Name: Raphael "Huey" Clarke
AU Birthday: June 22
AU History:
Supposedly, he was born from a long line of witches. The magical talents only seem to pass on through women, hence the specification of witches. He was taught some basic things like spells and stories.

While his mom is a witch, his father was something of a writer and folklorist on supernatural phenomena. His books were pretty popular, though regarded as fiction by regular people.

His childhood was stable and because he was born male, was raised pretty normally. His mother didn't mind that at all, having a child unburdened by that responsibility of dangerous witchcraft was nice. But his parents wanted him to hold onto the knowledge and to have some love for it.

He and his parents were involved in a car accident when he was a young teen. Thanks to a deal with one of his mothers familiars, he lives as a possessed, but he is the sole survivor of the incident.

He's raised by relatives on his father's side, but they are pretty wary of the paranormal. Out of fear of being abandoned or hated, he learned to act normal. He also never desired to achieve anything great out of fear his past and the possession would come to light, which was traumatic for him.

The possession's contract price was also unwoeldy in his youth, because it led to classmates and who he thought were friends taking advantage of him. The betrayal caused outbursts and unusual incidents. It couldn't be pinned on him by sheer luck, but he then never wanted people to get close.

He gets pretty good, but not standout grades in school, earns a liberal arts degree in college, and goes through a lot of odd jobs along the way. Some waitering, retail, admin, even a modeling gig. Currently, he works at a used bookstore with some modeling on the side. The possession and price do not bother him as much in his adult years, having gotten used to them.

AU Personality Differences:
Lonesome: The supernatural aspect of his life does affect him enough to feel distant from others and unable to form lasting relationships. He was also much worse at controlling his feelings in youth, leading to mishaps because of his possession. He keeps a bit more to himself and tries to have a better hold on his feelings through emotional distance.

Aimless: In canon, he believed and made it his life's goal to help his two closest friends reach their own goals before he felt his life was complete. Such a presence does not exist in his AU life, so he's less driven without a goal.

Grounded: Hythlodaeus in canon comes from a world and time where he and his people believed they lived in an abject paradise, and there weren't any major flaws in their society. This AU makes him a little more cynical, so he's a prone to a bit more sarcasm and not always believing things will turn out as fine as his canon counterpart would. It's not too harsh though, some of his optimism remains.

Element: Light
Purchased Powers:
-Detect if something/someone is magic. (1 point)
-Rather improbable luck. (2 points)
-Solo teleportation (3 points)

Possession: Huey is possessed by a sparrow familiar that was acquainted with his parents and assisted his mother in her work. Huey will sometimes attract small animals, but cannot communicate or understand them. He cannot speak directly with the familiar either, but he can get a feel for their mood and basic opinion. They're a simple creature who tries to be unassuming, but remains pretty curious of the world. Apparently because of their background in the Spirit World, they value hospitality.

The pact price is that Huey must always provide his full opinion, advice, or counsel if asked. He cannot remain silent or change the subject, else he feels light-headed and dizzy the longer he goes without answering. However, he can still lie or be a bit vague about his response. The advice also doesn't need to be followed by the recipient. Being too vague however often leads to having to answer more questions, so he'll avoid it.
