It's not a dumb question. I think it's happened to a few of us now.

From what I can tell, it's a case of an alternate universe. Did you ever see that one animated superhero movie with all the spider guys?

It's...kinda like that, I think. That boy probably just knew another you.

Yeah, I’ve seen that movie… so he knew another version of me?

That would be my guess, yes.

Some of us have been remembering things from another life, so some of the otherworlders think that's a sign that we've had our memories messed with ....but that doesn't line up with the other evidence I've seen, so I don't think that theory holds up.

[Admittedly she’s a little disappointed. Part of her wanted to believe she has a sister and a real family out there - instead of just being bounced around from one family to the next.

So we can remember “other lives”, but they’re not really us, right? Because that’d be impossible.

Yeah, basically. We're still trying to figure out what's going on with those memories, but from what I can tell - you're still you.

That said, there's nothing wrong with trying to get to know those people from that other universe, if you want. In a way, you could think of that family he mentioned as long lost relatives...if you want.

No one said families all have to come from the same universe.

I guess that's true...

Maybe I'll try to get to know him... and get to know my "other family" too. I think he was a little hurt that I couldn't remember anything.

The otherwolders are far away from their homes. It's only natural they'd get homesick and want to find anything or anyone that's familiar.
