Elemental Powers

If a character doesn't have canon powers to regain or you want to try out new powers, characters can obtain powers from the following six elements. The in-game reason is that the prolong exposure to Spirit Veins and the Spirit Realm has enhanced spirit power for some individuals to give them unique powers.

Characters with a paranormal AU background will be allowed an extra six points upon apping to use strictly towards these types of powers (in addition to the 4 points that everyone gets when they app). When they obtained this power is up to them! It could be recently or they could be born with it, whatever floats your boat!

Once you've decided what powers you wish to purchase, they can be purchased over on the Regain page.

Powers are divided up into two different types: general powers that anyone can purchase, and elemental powers that are sorted into six different elements. Each element offers up different traits and abilities. Every character may pick one element to gain powers from. Once you choose a specific element, you are locked into that element permanently! So choose wisely!

The elements are:

Fire: The element of passion and strong emotion. Fire magic is often used for offensive magic, but can also be used for more supportive acts such as providing much needed warmth and food. While they are only temporary boosts, strength boosts from fire element are stronger than any other element's strength boosts. It's like an adrenaline rush, in other words. Fire is strong against Wind, but weak against Water.

Wind: The element of freedom and swiftness. Wind magic is often used for movement and support spells, allowing a skilled wind user to even dance in the sky itself. While wind users can't move faster than light, they can move at fast speeds for longer periods of time. Wind is strong against Earth but weak against Fire.

Earth: The steady and persistent element. While it's the slowest acting element to work with, very little can get in its way. Used for defensive magic, creating structures, and plant magic. While earth strength boosts aren't as strong as fire boosts, they benefit from being longer lasting boosts. Earth is strong against Water, but weak against Wind.

Water: A calmer and more patient element than fire, but never mistake its temperance for weakness. Consider one of the most adaptable elements. Water magic is known for its healing, but can also turn deadly with a biting touch of ice. Water is strong against Fire, but weak against Earth.

Shadow: The most elusive and misunderstood of the elements. Shadow users are often associated with negative things, but there's really nothing wrong with the element. Shadow is often used for stealth magic. While offensively Shadow is not strong against any particular element, it has no elemental weaknesses either- making it a rather tenacious element.

Light: The element of faithful determination. It's often associated with the divine, but it can also be associated with space and the stars. It's the fastest of the elements, but only in quick bursts compared to wind's prolong bouts of swiftness. Offensively Light is strong against the other five elements, but defensively it's weak against all elements as well - rendering it the glass cannon of elements.

Second Element
As of November 2024, characters can now get a secondary element! ICly, this will manifest whenever the character is in a highly dangerous or stressful situation, or it's a meaningful character moment for them. Basically, something dramatic.

OOCly, it will cost players 2 points to unlock the element slot. In addition, they'll be asked to pick 3 points worth of flaws to go along with it (please see the elemental flaw page below for the options). These flaws cannot be redeemed for points in goodwill, BUT they don't cost actual points either to get (in other words, second element will only cost 2 points). We just use the point system to better keep track of them.

Regarding the Element Strength/Weakness system and how it works - for simplicity and game-balancing sake, during PC/NPC threaded battles - please stick with the strengths/weaknesses of your primary element!

Outside of battle, however, players are allowed to play around with the strength/weakness system for both of their elements (like the dominant versus waning months). If your character element combos are opposing to each other (for instance, shadow/light, water/fire, fire/wind, etc), you can either play it as the weakness/strengths cancel each other out OR the whole thing is a messy roller coaster of highs and lows.

Finally, please note that second elements are only available to characters currently in the game. Apping characters should start with 1 element (unless is a canon power).

Here are a list of abilities available to purchase through the Elemental System:

Monster Changes
The increased exposure to the Spirit Realm's energy has caused some characters to begin to change. Perhaps it was caused by some trigger: consuming something you shouldn't have, a research experiment gone wrong, a curse - or perhaps there is no distinct trigger and something within the Spirit Realm has simply decided to make you one of its own. Whether you fight against it to retain your humanity or embrace your new existence, well, that's up to you.

General Guidelines for Monster Transformations:
  • It's up to players how little or how much they invest in their monster transformation! You just want some fuzzy ears and tail? Go for it! You wanna go full on monster form? Live your dream!

  • Characters start was one monster type, but can unlock an additional monster type for an additional 2 points. For example someone could start off as a unicorn, but then pay an extra 2 points and be able to access avian abilities so they can make their unicorn into an alicorn. At this time, characters are limited to threetwo monster types maximum.

  • While characters still have three monster slots, each elemental-locked monster has been given a general monster type it's associated with. For instance if you select Hellhound, you will have access to everything canine monsters without needing to purchase canine as an additional slot -- freeing your options up even more.

  • Characters have the option to be able to retain full human form while in the city, though some might have more difficulty doing so or will be a partial transformation (basically up to the player). The further into the monster transformation, the harder this is to do.

  • While in the Spirit Realm, it'll be much more difficult to retain a fully human form and it'll feel really good to be in monster form.

  • Essentially the more you embrace your monster side, the more natural it'll feel and the easier it'll be to control. Some may find themselves enjoying being a monster, and in extreme cases, they might begin to forget they were ever actually human once.

  • Meanwhile those who try to resist against it will find it harder to control, and in extreme cases might be at risk at going berserk within the spirit realm or during times where that particular monster's power is heightened.

  • Characters who are possessed or already cursed (aka from a gacha pull or an IC plot occurrence) will have an overall tougher time with resisting the changes.

  • While there is the option to play with monster/animal instincts and the occasional berserk spree, for the most part the character's core personality should remain the same.

  • The further a character gets into a transformation, the more tied they may feel to the Spirit Realm. Being inside the Spirit Realm or in spots with high spirit energy will feel more comfortable, while being away from the Spirit Realm or Vein may cause discomfort. It's up to you how strong the comfort or discomfort is.

  • All monsters are affected by the full moon. This basically means during full moons, characters will have a harder time retaining their human forms in the city and their monster sides will be stronger. It may cause some characters to go a lil feral, it's fine.

  • If you no longer want your character to be a specific monster, that's a-okay! Just donate any regains tied to that specific type to gacha goodwill during it's open hours (first and third weekends of the month), and state in your comment that you don't want that monster type anymore so the mods can update their records. ICly you can say they got cured by some means or it just cleared up with zero explanation to why. After that, you are free to get a new monster type if you wish, and if you have already purchased a second monster slot, you will not need to do so again.

  • And yes for you furries and monsterfuckers out there, you can have adults (18+) experience heat if you want, no regain required. Please follow the usual NSFW guidelines and content warn accordingly. Inhuman genitals will be 2 points a piece as well as the knowledge that a real human has to approve your regain purchase.

Possession Purchases
If your character is currently possessed, they may be entitled to additional unique abilities. Check them out in the spreadsheet below. If you want to learn more about possessions, head on over to the Possession and Curses page to learn more.

God Purchases
If your character is a god in their canon, they may be entitled to gain unique divine abilities that work in Kaisou! Check them out in the spreadsheet alone. Again, this is only open to characters that are considered actual gods by their canon's standards, charlatan gods need not apply.

Pokemon Changes
As of September 2024, there are enchanted berries in the Kanto-Johto realm that'll transform anyone who consumes them into a Pokemon while they are in that spirit realm. While in Pokemon form, they will be unable to use any abilities except for four pokemon moves of your choosing. You can choose to any Pokemon, so long as it's not a legendary.

Should you wish to use the Pokemon form outside of the Kanto-Johto realm, you can pay additional regain points to do so. At this moment most of the available regains are aesthetic based, but stay turned for further updates as the mods figure out....how to power balance... pokemon.

Monster Options
These are the currently available options for monsters to choose from! The general options are available to all characters (unless there's a note saying otherwise), while the elemental options are only available for characters of the corresponding element! Also listed are the god, possession and pokemon powers.
