Okay so application is a very strong word and not entirely accurate, but it's a term we all know so bear with me. This is the page where you officially submit your character information for the game! Apps will not really be judged on its contents but more making sure everything fits into the setting of the game. If you want more information on the setting, please check out the FAQ!

To see the previous app page, you can find it here: Year 1 (2022) | Year 2 (2023) | Year 3 (2024)

How do I join the game?
This app page is currently open! Apps can be submitted by players at anytime. Apps are reviewed by the mod on the first and third weekend of the month, ending at 6pm EST on Sundays (so if you submit an app at 9pm on Sunday it won't get read until the following relevant weekend). Please check the calendar to see when apps will be processed next.

To join the game, you'll require an invite from another player. Players can invite up to 2 people per month. To invite someone, have the person apping list the name of the person inviting them, and then the inviter should comment to their app confirming the invite. Apps that do not have a invitation confirmation will not be looked at by the mods. If a confirmation does not come within two app processing weekends of the app's submission, it'll be automatically rejected.

A new player must be in the game one full month from their app acceptance date before they can invite another player (meaning if their app was approved on September 18th, they can invite people starting October 18th). This is so the new player has a chance to get acclimated to the game and community enough to assist any friends they later invite to the game.

Players who were in the game but who dropped/were swept will not need an invite to rejoin the game for up to one month after their drop date. After that month, they will require an invite to rejoin.

Once you submit your app, you'll get a welcome comment confirming that everything is a-okay. Sometimes revisions will be requested if there is a need to fix with power purchases or possessions.

Is there a player/cast cap?
There are a couple caps! The first cap ia an overall player cap. Kaisou allows a total of 75 players. Should we ever reach cap, apps will close until openings become available.

The second cap is on the number of players with an OU (original universe) character. To make sure OU characters do not dominate the game, there is a current limit of 35 OU players. At the start of each month, we will make sure there are at least 2 OU player slots open so new players get a chance to app an OU. To keep one cast from dominating the limited OU slots, there is an OU cast cap of 6 OU characters per cast.

Finally, there is a total cast cap of 14 characters.

PLAYER SLOTS: 25/75 filled.
OU PLAYER SLOTS: 14/35 filled.

Casts near or at Cap:
Final Fantasy XIV - 4/6 OUs NEAR OU CAP
Honkai Star Rail - 10/14 NEAR TOTAL CAP

What kind of characters do you allow?
Most things! Canon characters, Original characters, CRAU, AU characters - the list goes on. Double characters are also allowed so long as the doubles are notably different from one another (examples: MCU Peter Parker and Into the Spider-verse Peter Parker would be fine as they are two clearly different interpretations of the character. Alternatively, a canon version of a character and an AU version of the same character would be fine as long as the AU causes a notable difference in the character). Customizable protagonists and characters from canons with different story routes are allowed, and any characters with differing story routes would be considered AUs from one another.

The only requirement for a canon character is that they do require a consistent canon history. This is because many of the plot events and mechanics deal with memories and connections to their previous life (or current life if an OU). If you wish to app a mascot character that doesn't have a specific canon background (a vocalid, clippy, the trix rabbit, etc) - you are welcome to write an OC that's inspired by the character with a clear established background to work from. Characters who have multiple canon iterations (like Link from Legend of Zelda or Sonic the Hedgehog) will need to pick a single iteration to pull their canon background from. Characters must also have been properly introduced (not just a quick cameo) in their canon for at least one month at the time of apping.

As for Original Characters (OCs), they are more than welcomed to the game! The only difference is that upon apping, we request you provide a list of "canon abilities" that the character is capable of potentially regaining while in Kaisou. You don't need to provide price points or go in-depth about the powers, and it could be linked from an info page from elsewhere- we just want to have a list of things the character could potentially regain in the future. Should your character gain more "canon abilities" that goes beyond the original list, you can let the mods know through the canon update page. This does not apply for any OCs hailing from canons with established canonical powersets that the mods can look up (example: If you are playing a FFXIV Warrior of Light, you don't need to provide a list of every jobstone as there are wikis for that. If they're a D&D character, you can just provide their classes/specs and we can look it up from there).

How many characters can I play at a time?
You can play up to four active characters at a time! Only two of these characters are allowed to be Original Universe and there is an overall OU player cap as mentioned above. You may only play 2 characters from the same canon.

Players who have been in the game consistently for one year (it doesn't have to be with the same character, just the player themselves is consistently in the game) and has never been contacted by the mods about their activity will gain two additional slots so they can app 6 characters total. In addition to that, their OU slot will increase by 1 and their Ronin AU slot will increase by 1, allowing them to app up to 3 Original Universe characters and/or 2 Ronin AU characters.

How frequently can I submit an app?
There is no time restraint on the first two characters you app. If you join the game with the intent of playing two characters, you can app them both immediately or wait it out! However after you app your second character, you will require to wait one month between each new character app (so if you app your second character on March 2nd, you will need to wait until April 2nd to app a third character). This wait time applies even if you drop a character.

Should I include content warnings on my app?
If you are asking this question, the most likely answer is yes! These apps are not only read by a human app mod, but it's also linked on the taken list as their character info, so we cannot control who reads the app. So it is usually best practice to add a content warning if your app covers any content that may be seen as triggering, just so no one is blindsided by the app's contents.

The content warning should be done in a bold and red font so it is clearly visible and is specific about the kind of content it's warning about.

Examples of content that may require a content warning include: Abuse, Child Abuse/Neglect, Animal Abuse/death, Sexual misconduct of ANY variety, Drug/Alcohol abuse or addiction, common phobias (spiders, sharks, plane crashes, etc), human trafficking, gore, torture, suicide/self-harm, and more. Basically if you feel it's something that may be triggering to another player or the mods reading, please add a content warning just to be on the safe side.

As an aside, if your character has a history of abuse, that's okay! However, when going over their personal history we ask that you not go heavy on the details of the abuse, especially when it's a case of abuse that could feasibly happen in the real world. There are human moderators that have to read through your app, and reading a detailed account of child abuse can be A Lot. It's okay to acknowledge in their backstory that abuse happened, especially if it's a major influence to why the character are the way they are, but just keep it to barebone descriptions.

What type of characters can I play in this setting?
At this time, brand new players have the option of choosing between Normal AU, Paranormal AU, and Original Universe. Players who have been in the game at least 3 months also get the option of apping characters from the Black Order, POKEGO, Zodiac factions or a "Ronin". Details for each category are below:

Normal Modern AUs
Normals AU are exactly what it says on the tin: they're normal people. These characters have lived entirely normal lives on modern day Earth. Up until the day they joined the Libra app (aka when they join the game), they've been completely oblivious to anything strange about the world. Even if something paranormal-related did happen to them, their memories remember it as a more mundane event (for example if they got attacked by a monster, they'll remember it as a dog attack) - and it's only once they join the app may they remember how those events occurred. For the most part, their AU backstory should consist of things that could reasonably happen in a modern day Earth setting.

Upon acceptance, Normal AUs will be allowed be given 9 extra regain points (in addition to the base 4 everyone gets, so 13 points total) to spend as they wish. Any regains purchased will ICly come into effect after they join the game.

Paranormal Modern AUs
Paranormal AU characters are characters who also grew up in modern day Earth, but have experienced supernatural occurrences throughout their lives. Their experiences with the supernatural can vary wildly as long as it fits into the setting of Kaisou. Maybe they've been raised by a family aware of the supernatural, or they started as normal people and ended up crossing paths with the paranormal at some point in their lives. They may even be involved with a player-run faction (aka any faction that's not Zodiac, Black Order or POKEGO), or a new faction that you made up yourself!

These characters will get 9 extra points to be spent on elemental powers (aka Kaisou original powers) they obtained during their AU backstory. These points cannot be used for canon regains (though you are welcomed to purchase elemental powers that are similar to their canon powers, or pick something entirely new!). These points can be used for monster traits, but you need to include some explanation for why they are a monster (were they cursed? An experiment? Are their parent a monsterfucker?) and they will need to be at least half-human.

Paranormal characters can also be possessed. You can read more information about on the possesion info page.

Original Universe
Original Universe characters hail from their original world and find themselves arriving into this world through the Spirit Realm. They will not lose any memories of their canon lives, will maintain their appearances no matter how anime, and are allowed to have any items that they could reasonably carry on their persons upon arrival without any enchantments (in other words, no cheating with a mary poppins bag). If they were carrying a magical bag, the bag will split open in the Spirit Realm and all the contents will come spilling out on the ground, forcing your character to grab only what they can carry.

Power wise, OUs will be alotted 6 regain points to spend on retained abilities. Feel free to consult the regain pagefor clarity on the point values. Any powers that are not retained will have to be purchased later using regain points.

Black Order/POKEGO AU
PLEASE NOTE: Due to this character type requiring a thorough understanding of the game setting, these options is only available for players who have been in Kaisou for at least 3 months.

Players are limited to only have ONE character from each faction at a time (meaning you can have one Black Order member and one POKEGO member- but not more than one in each faction) UNLESS their second character started as another character type and are undergoing an apprentice program. Brand new players, don't worry about that too much.
.

Black Order/POKEGO are AU characters who started either as Normal or Paranormal AU characters. However, unlike the other AU types who only begin regaining canon memories once they join the game, these characters began remembering their past lives and regaining canon abilities at an earlier point in their life - usually after a traumatic or high stress incident. Sometime shortly after they began remembering their past lives, they were approached by one of two factions:

THE BLACK ORDER: A secretive group devoted to protecting and preserving the Spirit Realm, particularly any realms that are considered sacred, by dispatching agents known as "Guardians" to manage supernatural incidents of note. While it varies from member to member, the Black Order aren't exactly known for being a chill group. Some Guardians join willingly while others were "strongly persuaded" to join (though after a recent rebellion, those who wish to leave the Order are now granted permission to leave). While you don't need to be religious to be part of the Black Order nor does it adhere to a particular religion, it is said to be funded by numerous religious denominations around the world. Thanks to that, Black Order Guardians will enjoy free housing (within reason, no mansions) and a comfortable salary to live on - though some may get a daytime job/go to school to keep up a persona. After a recent rebellion, the Black Order is under new leadership who tend to rule more reasonably than the previous. Thanks to the constant unusual activity in Kaisou, they have decided to send members to Kaisou and join the app in order to investigate what's going on.

POKEGO: A group devoted to the research and understanding of the Spirit Realm. All in all, they tend to be less hardcore than the Black Order and all members join willingly, though sometimes in the past it was a means to avoid joining the Black Order. POKEGO is less structured than the Black Order, with the group actually being made up of several different cohorts that focus on different areas of study related to the Spirit Realm (such as flora, fauna, gate locations, gods, etc etc). For a long time they held a positive reputation in paranormal circles, but that recently took a serious hit thanks to Professor Willow and his faction's deeds. Thanks to that, a lot of sponsors (including Zodiac) have pulled out and funding has really dried up. This means POKEGO researchers will have to find their own housing and find ways to make ends meet (in other words, you're broke). These days, the remaining members of POKEGO are working towards rebuilding their organization and repairing the bridges that have been burned.

Characters apped will either be in the role of Black Order Guardian or POKEGO Researcher that's been sent to Kaisou to help investigate the situation, and will join the Libra app in the spirit of cooperation with Zodiac (and to keep an eye on everyone). It's up to you if the character had already lived in Kaisou for some time, or is completely new in town. While both of these groups are made up of people who remember their past lives, before the events of Kaisou it was well understood among these group that regaining past memories was an extremely rare occurrence (like 1 in a few million rare), that memories of their past lives were to be kept hush-hush from outsiders - and anyone who refused to comply with the rules would have their past memories erased and powers sealed. So some may not be entirely sure how to feel about these Zodiac app users that have a lot less rules to follow. Typically POKEGO/Black Order characters should be at least 16 years of age. If you wish to app a younger one, they will be considered a trainee and special accommodations will need to be made (aka you need to talk to the mod about it).

Due to their special situations, Black Order/POKEGO characters can start with 20 regain points for their pre-purchased powers (versus the 9 that paranormal AU get). These regain points can be used for both Kaisou elemental powers AND canon regains. Black Order/POKEGO characters may also be possessed, which works the same way as Paranormal AUs.

POKEGO characters will be allowed 1 free pokemon that's up to horse size (and isn't a legendary) upon apping. This Pokemon will be completely depowered, but for 1 point you can unlock up to 4 of the abilities that are available for the Pokemon at Level 1 in the games. Any abilities beyond that would cost the same rates as if those abilities were on a player character. Additional pokemon would cost the same rate as a magical animal companion (aka based on size and they'd start with their level 1 abilities).

Zodiac AU
PLEASE NOTE: Due to this character type requiring a thorough understanding of the game setting, this option is only available for players who have been in Kaisou for at least 3 months.

Want to live out life as a corporate employee? Join Zodiac! Players are limited to ONE Zodiac employee at a time. Exceptions are made if a character decides to start working for Zodiac, but why would you.

Much like the Paranormal AUs, you were aware of the supernatural. But unfortunately, unlike the other AUs who received powers that'd make them protagonists in their own right -- you got the short end of the stick in the ways abilities manifested in you. Not only did your abilities make it difficult to maintain a life among normal citizens, but you were overlooked by elite groups like the Black Order and POKEGO.

Instead, you had to make peace with being an NPC in another hero's story and took a job with Zodiac. You have spent the past few months or years working for Zodiac and if you're particularly unlucky, helping clean up any messes the Libra app users have been leaving. Sure, it's a soulless corporation, but at least it's got dental for your fangs.

Then one day, the Libra App will appear on your personal devices and you'll begin recalling past memories. Perhaps your time as protagonist has come after all.

Due to their less-than-special situations, Zodiac characters start with 4 regain points for their pre-purchased powers (versus the 6 that paranormal AU get). They will also be allowed two free appearance regains (but nothing that gives them extra powers). Possessions are allowed, but they are possessed by lesser beings (as such, their contract price can be less severe if desired).

If you wish your Zodiac character to have more starting abilities, or you just like making them suffer, you can have them start off with flaws that will contribute to their overall pre-purchased point pool.

Players are limited to play one Zodiac employee at a time for now.

Zodiac Characters can have their apps submitted now, but won't make an IC appearance until July 2024 unless given mod permission.

FINALLY, PLEASE BE AWARE THAT DUE TO THEIR FACTION'S REPUTATION, ZODIAC CHARACTERS ARE LIKELY TO HAVE A GOOD DEAL OF NEGATIVE CR FROM OTHER CHARACTERS EARLY ON. Please be prepared to deal with this should you choose to app from these factions. Even if your character is a nice person, they will likely have to work extra hard to gain the trust of those around them.

Ronin AU
PLEASE NOTE: Due to this character type requiring a thorough understanding of the game setting, this option is only available for players who have been in Kaisou for at least 3 months. In addition, it is highly recommended you discuss your plans for a Ronin AU with the mod team beforehand, as this is the app route the app mods will be strictest about.

Players are limited to only have ONE Ronin character at a time (unless you've been here for 1 year, and then it's 2).
.

Much like POKEGO/Black Order characters, Ronin are AU characters who started either as Normal or Paranormal AU characters. Just like POKEGO/Black Order, these characters began remembering their past lives and regaining canon abilities well before the Libra app ever came into their lives - usually after a traumatic or high stress incident.

However unlike their Black Order/POKEGO counterparts, their life path deviated. Perhaps wanting to avoid being under any faction's thumb, your character spent their life living on the run - trusting no one and never staying in one place for long. It's only when you began to hear stories of Kaisou, about the folks who have destroyed Krusnik and taken a stand against the Black Order, did you decide maybe this was a refuge safe for you.

Or perhaps you shared a much worse fate than your roaming brethren. Perhaps you were taken in by the old leadership of the Black Order, but was deemed unfit for Guardian duties for some reason. Instead of sealing your abilities and memories, you were locked away by the Black Order either for safe keeping or for research. Some of these prisoners were put under a magical sleep during their time, only awakening now to a whole new world. Or, if you were very unlucky, you were awake the entire time and only now are getting to taste freedom.

Finally, Ronin status may also apply to former Black Order members who have left the organization. Ronin status will also be applied to any Black Order members who decide to leave, but more on that later.

Due to their special situations, Ronin characters can start with 20 regain points for their pre-purchased powers (versus the 9 that paranormal AU get). These regain points can be used for both Kaisou elemental powers AND canon regains. Ronin characters may also be possessed, which works the same way as Paranormal AUs.

Please note that unused points from your app will NOT roll over once you app (aside from Normal AUs who will be rewarded extra points after their app is confirmed), so please don't hesitate to spend them all!

Other Characters: Pannacotta Fugo, Shio Takahata, Josuke Higashikata, Byleth Eisner, Rika

Character Name: Cordelia "Lia" Brooks
Canon: Original
Canon History: It says so in the comment itself, but still be aware: CW for mentions of gun violence and attempted murder. History can be found here.

Canon Abilities: Detailed here!

Canon Personality:
- The first impression one will get of Lia is that she's a cheery and open individual. She's friendly and often forthcoming, even with strangers.
- She tends to be generally helpful by nature, she's always ready and willing to help people--friends, family, she'll even go out of her way to help strangers if they need it.
- She generally tries to be kind to everyone she meets. If you can brighten someone's day just a little, it's worth it, and life's too short to be dicks to each other anyway.
- Lia is willing to give most people a chance, even if it's... ill-advised. Prickly, overly rowdy, horrible chaos gremlin, even bloodthirsty-- none of these are particular problems, so long as you haven't committed atrocities or personally harmed Lia or someone she cares about. (Even the "harming Lia" part can be set aside, so long as it wasn't particularly personal in nature--one of her associates is in fact a killer for hire who's clashed with Lia a few times on the job. They both handle it very professionally at this point.)
- She tends to be firmly of the belief that more often than not, a stranger is just a friend you haven't met yet.
- For the most part, she's not too into holding grudges--as long as you haven't harmed one of her loved ones or you're not looking to cause harm again, at least. Life's too short for that!
- She is stubborn as all hell. I wouldn't necessarily say it's her way or the highway, but if you're looking to change her mind on something, you'd better have a damn good argument before you're dragged along for the ride.
- She's not big on restraining herself from things she enjoys--life's too short to deny yourself the things you like!
- Despite appearances and general attitude, Lia's particularly concerned with practicality. Why go chasing the wild, complex solutions to problems when simpler, sensible ones are right there?
- On that note, only suckers fight fair, as far as Lia's concerned. Honor and rules are for organized events--in a fight where survival's the main priority, anything goes.
- (This does not stop her from being flashy as hell when she does fight, she just tries to temper that with practicality.)
- Just because she isn't typically outwardly mean or cruel doesn't mean she's incapable. When she is pushed to that point, you'd better believe she's a big believer in the idea of cruel mercy. It can be harder to live with the things you've done, after all.
- For all that she tries to handle things sensibly and practically, this does not stop her from following her impulses... a lot. She doesn't always think things through and this has gotten her in trouble.

AU Name: N/A
AU Age: 24
AU Birthday: May 29
Faction: The Black Order

AU History: - Lia was born to a paranormal aware family in New York. Her parents were kind and attentive, and Lia was very close with her older sister in particular growing up.
- While having been aware of magic since she could comprehend the idea of it existing, it started becoming a major part of her life when she was around the age of 7, when her older sister's magical abilities started becoming apparent... on the heels of a particular change in her appearance.
- (While their parents were a bit freaked out at the change, they definitely agreed that this was preferable to, say, uncontrollable fireballs or something.)
- Lia thought the change was cool, and paid close attention to the sorts of abilities her sister had awakened to.
- Lia's direct experiences with magic of her own started five years later at age 12-- she unwittingly uses teleportation to save herself when she falls out of a tree. That night isn't the first time she dreams of being a magical girl, but it is the first time she dreams of monsters invading a world two steps from being in shambles, and of a boy she can't put a name to.
- At first, Lia doesn't think much about telling her sister or her parents about the dreams she's started having, but she quiets down after a warning from her mother: "Keep such things to yourself, or the Black Order might find you and take you away." An explanation of the group later, and Lia does, in fact, remain silent about her dreams... for a few years, at the very least.
- To Lia's credit, she did pretty well at keeping things under wraps. It was only once she turned 18 and she'd transformed in public to keep someone safe that she got concerned about ending up on the Black Order's radar--and for good reason. She caught wind of Guardians in the area, asking around about her soon after.
- Unwilling to get involved with the Black Order and equally unwilling to potentially put her family in danger, she gathered up her belongings and fled under the cover of night.
- Lia spends a few years traveling around the country after that, never settling in one place for too long. She does what she does best while she does, tackling odd jobs for money to get by and generally trying to help the people she meets.
- During these few years, she stops in Kaisou for a while a few times, but after she starts hearing about increased Order presence in the city, she starts avoiding it.
- Not that it lasts, really. Eventually, Lia hears through the grapevine that there's been something of a revolution at the Order, and she starts doing some investigating on her own once she hears it's under new management.
- Once she confirms the news for herself, Lia... takes a bit to think, now that she's not being chased around the country. Given everything that has happened, everything that Lia herself has witnessed the past few years, she comes to the realization that the world does need people like The Black Order, and--perhaps most importantly--people who truly believe in its cause and will join willingly.
- After considerable thought and a long conversation with her still skeptical older sister, Lia decided to finally join up with The Black Order--if it means helping and protecting others, Lia wants to do what she can.
- It's almost a relief to be assigned to Kaisou, given how much she enjoyed being here before and missed it afterwards. She'll do her best! ... Even if she's still got three or so months of training left.

AU Personality Differences: - Overall, Lia is a generally less intense person than canon due to having a considerably more normal life in comparison. She also doesn't have the violent near-death experience under her belt that made her double down on all the things she says "life's too short" about in canon--that isn't to say she doesn't believe in them here, though! She does believe it and try to act on such things, but it sure is a lot less of a big deal for her.
- Knows what a hinge looks like enough to fake having one
- While she's still impulsive, she's less so given her circumstances in the AU. Too much impulse-following could've gotten her in trouble with the Black Order! Similarly, she's spent a while not operating under the idea that a stranger is just a friend you haven't met yet.
- A bit less inclined to solve her problems with violence, given the fewer scenarios that require it.

Element: Light
Purchased Powers:
- Canon ability: Magical Girl transformation (4 points - based on the fact that magical girl transformations are 3 points in Gacha Goodwill.)
- Canon ability: Magical weapon creation: Only usable after her transformation. Lia can turn her magic into physical weapons for her to use, and they'll disappear after a fight. She cannot arm anyone else this way, cannot alter the weapon's properties after she's created it, and creating the weapon doesn't come with the knowledge of how to use it. (It's basically an element-neutral version of the elemental weapon creation.) (3 points, as discussed on Discord)
- Canon ability: Improved Physical Abilities (Enhanced Bulk): Only while Lia has transformed into her magical girl form, her strength, speed, durability, and reflexes are enhanced. (4 points)
- Canon appearance: Basic hair color change. Brown to sky blue. (1 point)
- Kaisou ability: Teleportation (Low) (3 points)
- Kaisou ability: Regeneration (Medium) (2 points)
- Kaisou ability: Improved Vision (Super) (3 points)

Invited by: I am in your walls you are never rid of me.
Other Characters: Varian, Zulius, Persephone and Husk.

Character Name: Jax. He doesn't remember his real name at this point in canon.
Canon: The Amazing Digital Circus.
Canon History: Day after day after day after day after day after- Be wary of themes of mental health breaks and bad coping mechanisms

Canon Personality: I'm gonna note here that this is an ongoing canon who's entire setup is delving into the mentalities of the people trapped in the circus, so there's still a lot about Jax we don't know - so this is based on what we know as of episode 4.

Jax is, quite frankly, a mess of a human being. Trapped in a world where everyone needs to find some way to keep themselves sane, lest they become mindless monsters via abstraction, he has decided to do this by being a childish, selfish jackass. Jax refuses to take a very serious situation seriously at all. He makes everything he can a joke, especially when it comes to the suffering and upset of his fellow circus prisoners. He takes a great joy in pressing other people's buttons and getting a rise from them. If it's throwing a snide comment at someone or actively getting them trapped in a nightmare dimension for shits and giggles, he's thrilled to make everyone else suffer while he stands by and watches.

He's extremely destructive and absolutely revels in chaos. He finds it a perfectly acceptable distraction from what is otherwise a constant cycle of nonsense Caine puts them through with no escape. The only thing Caine can't control is their minds, and Jax takes full advantage of that by doing everything he can to be a fly in everyone's ointment. After the Candy Carrier adventure is done, and they are about to leave for home, Jax purposefully leaves the kingdom gates unlocked and is joyful when the NPCs of the world are attacked for it. He pretty consistently smashes poor Gangle's comedy mask, for no reason other than it amuses him how upset it makes her. He has no problem destroying property - especially if it's someone else's.

Jax's biggest fear is having his weaknesses being perceived by anyone else. He wants everyone to believe all he is is a rancid asshole and is reluctant to letting anyone see beyond that. He tries to pretend that things happening in the circus (and his being trapped in there for years) doesn't bother him at all. Taking Caine's inadvertent torture of them with a shrug, acting like he doesn't care what happens so long as he can see "funny things happen to people". However, it's clear this isn't completely true. When Ragatha invites Pomni to Kaufmo's "funeral", Jax has a brief moment of genuine sadness for his lost friend, before he shakes his head and walks off to be alone - refusing to take part in the funeral and expose his upset about his "dead" friend. When Gangle drags him off for her bizarre Clockwork Orange-esque "employee reevaluation", Jax's first concern isn't for what is about to happen to him, but if anyone else can see what's happening to him. It's clear he is extremely concerned with people seeing him upset or having any emotions beyond what he puts on show. He leans more on his assholish behaviours to be sure that no one gets close enough to see who he is underneath it all.

It's clear that his assholeish behaviour is part of his emotional crutch. When he has the chance to be a dickhead towards the other circus members taken from him, he becomes apathetic and despondent. His devil-may-care attitude vanishes without an outlet to use it on, with the smirking mask stripped away, he becomes an exhausted shell of himself. He tries to have a normal conversation with Pomni (which she is immediately and understandably guarded against) and the second he's alone, the grin vanishes away. Jax is still an asshole for choosing to cope with his emotional traumas by lashing out at other people, but it's clear underneath all that he's a lot more hurt and tired than he'd like people to believe.

AU Age: 22 - same as canon.
AU Birthday: 23rd May.

AU History:
- He was a child of divorce. His parents split up when he was 9, and his mother left to start a new family, leaving Jax with his dad. While his dad has always been a great guy who did his best, his mother's abandonment instilled Jax with the belief that people will just leave when they get tired of him, so he started to act out, trying to make himself as obnoxious as possible to prevent people from getting too close to him and inevitably hurting him in the process.
- He was always a disruptive kid, both out of school and in it. He pulled pranks on students and faculty alike, and was known as a pretty constant troublemaker for the rest of this school years. He always had the vibes of a kid with undiagnosed ADHD. He swore he could "sense" other people having magic, something his teachers dismissed as him trying yet another way of being disruptive as possible. The only person who believed him was his father- a construction worker and secret earth elemental, and as such aware of the paranormal.
- When he was 13, he got in trouble for "stealing" a video game at the mall. He hadn't meant to take it- it had vanished into his newly manifested hammerspace, and he had no idea how to get it back out again. He got reamed out by an over-zealous mall cop, who made it clear he thought Jax was nothing but a delinquent who would go nowhere in life but prison. Jax was let go because no one could find the aforementioned stolen game on him. In retaliation, Jax slashed the mall cop's tyres, and felt great for doing it. Thanks to the mall having poor-ass cameras, it meant Jax got away with it- which only added to him feeling that this was a reasonable way to deal with his emotions.
- Ever more unwilling to let other people in, Jax started to get into tech and computers. Because he could just lock himself in his room and work on coding and not speak to anyone. Always inclined towards trouble anyway, and too curious for his own good, he started getting into hacking, using the handle PR4NK573R. While he never used it to steal people's money or ID, he did use it for general mischief. Making sites crash, making PA systems play meme songs, generally anything that made him come across as a great annoyance.
- When he was 17, he got a VR headset for his birthday. Always a big tech nerd, he was delighted to put it on. Unfortunately, while this didn't trigger any of his past life's memories, the very act of doing the thing that got him internally trapped and tortured caused his mind to have a full trauma response from the action. He changed into his digital avatar form and freaked out about it. After all, you really don't expect to suddenly become a purple rabbit-shaped-thing out of nowhere.
- His dad had a friend who worked in Zodiac, and called them in a panic about what to do about any of this. Unable to go enter back into the normie population looking as he did, Zodiac had Jax pulled out of high-school and brought him in as a Zodiac intern. He finished up his high school in Zodiac-run classes, where he got pretty middling grades given the everything that he was trying to deal with in his senior year.
- His skills with computers and tech meant he ended up being called by various staff members to help "fix" them. And while Jax remained an obnoxious asshole every time anyone had the audacity to ask for his help - he WAS good at it, and the higher-ups in Zodiac soon took noticed.
- After about a year of internship, he was put in the tech department. They had trouble with a hacker (Yuuki) trying to get into the system, and they figured the best way to handle that was to get another hacker on the job. Jax managed to get the Zodiac systems up to snuff against Yuuki's attacks- and he tipped off the curses department to get the little fucker cursed for his troubles.
- And so he has remained a member of Zodiac's tech department. He's an absolute nightmare towards all other staff members. He's known as a bully and an annoyance- stealing lunches and eating them in front of their owners, throwing coffee mugs out of the window, inerting their entire computer screen- things like that. He's never troublesome enough to lose his job, and honestly he's so good at his job that Zodiac know he'll have set a ton of failsafes he'd activate to make the system unuseable if they ever tried to fire him, so here he stays. And he makes that everyone else's problem.

AU Personality Differences: The most notable change is that AU Jax is less violent than canon Jax, thanks to the fact they don't live in the digital realm and as such people can actually get harmed in this realm. You can't really throw a person into a deep-fat-fryer in this world without there being long term consequences, after all. Otherwise, he's pretty much the same.

Element: None yet!
Purchased Flaws:
- Vengeance: Low (1)
Purchased Powers:
- Profanity Filter (Canon) - He cannot swear, either through gestures, words or writing. If he tries, a comedic beeping sound goes off and his mouth (or hand, or written words) is covered by a censor bar (1)
- Hammerspace (Canon) - Just two for now, he rotates what he puts in them. (2)
- Magic Detection (Kaisou!): Medium (2)
Appearance Regains:
- His digital avatar form. This is a purple bipedal rabbit. No fur, no tail, just a weird purple-skinned rabbit man who's mouth doesn't open when he speaks. Comes with none of the benefits that his form would otherwise have. Using both my points for this seen as it's a fully form.

Character Name: Harumasa Asaba
Canon: Zenless Zone Zero
Canon History: Harumasa

Canon Personality: CW for Spoilers, Child Abandonment, Child Experimentation, Unethical Medical Science Experimentation, and Terminal Illness

🏹 Harumasa comes off as a guy who fakes illness to get days off that he doesn't always have, and is an unrepentant slacker because of it. He will always complain about having to do overtime. To be clear, he does ham it up and that's gotten him into trouble or awkward situations, such as training new recruits who kept treating him like he was fragile and were way too overenthusiastic for him to keep up.

🏹 He will do just about anything to ensure that the work gets done efficiently enough so that he can clock out as early as possible.

🏹 Perhaps surprisingly, Harumasa has a lot of emotional intelligence and is very perceptive. He hasn't known the Proxy for very long nor does he know Zhu Yuan at all, but he can instantly tell that the reason Zhu Yuan is upset with the Phaethon siblings is because they didn't trust her enough and that hurt her.

🏹 Overall, though, he seems to be a very laid-back person who takes almost nothing seriously.

🏹 However, Harumasa is suffering from a chronic and terminal condition that will end with him dying young. In his chosen line of work, it's far more likely that the end stage will come when he is within a Hollow and that will almost immediately turn him into an Ethereal after excruciating pain and loss of sensory functions, most commonly sight and hearing. The systems the disease attacks are different for each patient, and for Harumasa it is in his lungs and heart.

🏹 He's only ever really known the inside of a hospital room for much of his childhood, and he was experimented on without realizing it for many years. The experience has left its physical scars on the back of his neck and on his spirit, though he will try to brush it off as nothing serious.

🏹 Because of this experience, he really tries to enjoy his life and newfound freedom to its fullest.

🏹 Harumasa really doesn't like people treating him differently because of his condition... unless it's to get more days off.

🏹 Harumasa is very protective, to the point where he'll risk his own life to save another's. He says that nobody values his life more than he himself does, which is true to an extent. When push comes to shove and it's between himself or another person's survival, he'll put that other person before him. The reasoning in his mind is simple: he won't live that long anyway, but this other person can. To him, that's a fair trade when it means he can go out on his own terms.

🏹 Turning into an Ethereal really does bother him greatly, no matter how much he tries to play it off. It's a recurring nightmare for him that disrupts his sleep constantly.

🏹 That being said, Harumasa definitely has some poor coping mechanisms. Whenever he encounters something he dislikes, he pushes himself into exposing himself to whatever is causing his dislike until he can get to a point where he can tolerate it. Whether that's food he doesn't like or a memory that causes those feelings to arise.

🏹 Overall, despite his outward attitude he's very hard on himself when he thinks he's come up short or has made a mistake that leaves him unable to help.

🏹 Although Harumasa doesn't think of himself as a good person, that's really what he is. A good person who hates seeing people suffer the same way he does. When he sees other kids with the same illness he has clearly being experimented on, he gives up some of his own spinal fluid just to spare them until he can help deal with the perpetrator once and for all.

🏹 He passes it off as "very inconsistent phone-phobia," but he does have a genuine fear of doctors because of what he's been through. It's hard for him to do his weekly telehealth check-ins as he gets very anxious about the calls, so he tends to put them off.

🏹 Harumasa is allergic to the word "friend," generally referring to Miyabi and Yanagi as Chief and Deputy Chief respectively despite their relative closeness to him (Miyabi will call him by his first name while Yanagi calls him by his surname unless she slips up out of worry for him). He seems to hold them at arm's length because he's uncomfortable with the idea of people caring about him to where they'll mourn his inevitable passing. At the same time, he has a desire to leave something of himself behind as proof that he was alive and human.

AU Name: N/A
AU Age: 25
AU Birthday: July 19 (Canon)

AU History: CW for Child Abandonment, Child Death and Endangerment, Child Experimentation, Unethical Medical Science Experimentation, and Terminal Illness

Harumasa Asaba was born to a family that he simply didn't know very well. He had some problems with his health growing up, but mundane doctors could only really tell them that it had something to do with his heart and lungs. Something congenital and potentially life-threatening. He would remember in the years after how his parents took him to some kind of specialist when he was around five years old. After talking to the doctor, his parents told him that they would be right back and left him in the hospital alone.

He waited so patiently for them, but it was clear when it turned to evening that they weren't coming back for him. Harumasa started crying, until a doctor seemingly took pity on him and took him in. Being only five, he had no idea what was actually going on. However, his parents had said that doctors were trustworthy, so he took it on faith that this one was also worthy of his trust.

Harumasa was then told by this doctor that he had a very rare condition called Element Aptitude Regression Syndrome. Essentially, he would have powerful magic, but being around spiritual energy would cause strain on his heart and lungs. The higher the concentrations of spiritual energy, the deadlier it would get for him. His doctor told him that the research facility he was part of, Krusnik, was working on a cure to his condition and would need his help in finding that cure by taking part in their experiments. Of course, Harumasa believed him and agreed since he would be helping other kids like him, and maybe it could help those kids not be abandoned by their parents, too.

He wouldn't find out the truth until later, and by then the damage was already done.

The boy was taken to a facility somewhere in Europe. There, he was given bitter medicine to stabilize his symptoms and had his spinal fluid extracted from the back of his neck. Harumasa was also instructed in how to fight with long-ranged and melee weapons, as they had plans to put him through possession testing. At the time, he simply thought it was just a way for him to get exercise and build up his stamina.

After about a year of being at the facility, they came to find out that Harumasa had a powerful gift. He had the power to see the future with crystal clarity, and with further experimentation that they dressed up as "training" he was able to focus that on the futures of specific people. His team of doctors told him that they could use his gift to find other kids like him that need their help, and Harumasa was happy to agree to use it in that way.

It wasn't until a kid named Jun came along that he was able to piece together that something was wrong. Harumasa began to notice that there was a pattern to the kids they wanted to take in, and none of it had to do with any medical conditions that could affect their quality of life. Feeling distressed, he started to use his future sight on some of the other children and saw that so, so many would die by the hands of uncaring monsters parading as scientists and medical professionals. Harumasa just didn't know what their end goal was until his own possession experimentation began.

They were very interested in what possession would do to a child with this rare condition, as well as synthesizing a drug from him and others like him in order to boost... something. Harumasa at that point was catching on to that interest and began to do everything he possibly could to protect the younger kids from these experiments. He would volunteer for it if he could or he would act out in certain ways to take the scientists' attention off of one kid and onto himself. He would also do his best to befriend some of them and help them out. Sometimes he would play with them, and sometimes he would just let them cry on his shoulder. Harumasa gained a reputation for being something of an older brother figure as he tried to keep the other kids' spirits up.

Then, he started getting a vision of a raid led by one man who would cut a bloody swathe through the facility. So many children were going to die in the chaos, and Harumasa had to search for anyone he could save from that fate. It was very close, but he finally found one. Jun Kohinata was going to be moved to a facility, but he saw that if Jun stayed here the kid would survive and have a father. Decision made and resolve as tough as steel in his heart, Harumasa used every trick in the book to get them to take him instead of Jun.

And it worked.

Harumasa was moved to another facility without any chance to say goodbye to the kids there. His heart was shattered, but he had to hold onto the hope that maybe more of them would survive than his visions showed him. Eventually, he ended up in Lithuania. Some inhospitable part of it where there wasn't a major city. The intense cold coupled with his weak constitution led to Harumasa almost dying to pneumonia, of all things.

Yet he had such a strong desire to live. Not just to continue protecting the handful of kids still within that facility, but also so that he could taste true freedom and feel the wind on his face again. A deity answered his call. Apollo saved his life so long as Harumasa fulfilled his end of the deal. The details were fuzzy in his memories, but he understood his price for the pact. Harumasa recovered well physically from the pneumonia and Krusnik seemingly got what they had been wanting for years. Yes, Apollo was one of the Greek pantheon, but he was one of the easiest to manipulate so long as they were bold.

With this, the scientists were able to synthesize a more stable version of the drug they'd been using Harumasa and other children with his specific illness to create. In order to test the efficacy of the drug in humans, they used a control group of normal people and the other... well, they used Harumasa himself. From what he could gather, they were testing to see if they could boost his tolerance of using Apollo's divine power and discern what side effects there might be. After all, Harumasa was their only subject that was currently possessed by a god. The side effects in normal people were... severe. The one that was most concerning was that they ran the risk of going insane just from the first dose. However, there was another side effect to using the drug: a high risk of becoming dependent on it in order to live as their body broke down once the effects wore off.

It was hard to say what, exactly, caused Harumasa's side effects to be different. It could very well have been that the combination of Apollo and his particular illness made his body metabolize the drug differently. The end result was that his body became dependent on magical energy, but not to the drug itself. Apollo was able to help guide him into learning how to absorb the ambient spiritual energy around him. Yet with how little there was in the facility, it was clear that he wasn't going to survive very long if they weren't careful.

The scientists were debating how they could refine the formula to be ready for mass production when a man came through to destroy the facility. The man, Ragna, saved Harumasa and was able to get him back on his feet. Honestly, he wasn't sure where to go now that he so abruptly had freedom within his grasp, but he knew he wanted to get the hell out of Lithuania. A highly difficult task when he didn't even have any form of identification. Still, Harumasa was resourceful enough to get himself to the nearest city and use a computer from a college campus to do some research. He stumbled upon a hacker known as Phaethon and contacted them. With Phaethon's help, Harumasa was able to not only get identification and plane tickets to the nearest spiritual hot spot in Europe, but Phaethon also got him a good supply of the medication he needed to manage his symptoms. Harumasa did his best to work odd jobs despite his medical condition. While off the clock, he did his own personal investigations into the drug they had used him to create in order to try and destroy as much of it as he could. The last thing Harumasa ever wanted was for other kids to end up like him.

At the same time, Harumasa was genuinely enjoying looking at Europe. All the sights, people, and food he never knew was out there. It was really nice, and he took every moment he could to enjoy it. He wanted to enjoy his first taste of freedom since he could remember and savor it. Eventually, he went to America. While wandering, he ran into Lia and had a few adventures with her, enough to form a solid friendship with her. She helped him out of a few tight spots, and in return he gave her cryptic rhyming couplets about important events in her future.

After years of wandering, he made his way to Kaisou. He'd heard it had become a hotbed of spiritual energy, and he figured that if he wanted to find a reliable source of the medication he needed, he'd have to get a stable job with healthcare benefits and a thriving Underground community. Harumasa had been living there for two to three weeks, getting himself adjusted to the high concentrations of spiritual energy, when he suddenly found an app had mysteriously downloaded itself onto his definitely-legally-acquired phone.

AU Personality Differences: 🐈‍⬛ He sure does have a lot more guilt about not being able to save more of the kids at Krusnik, as well as his part in targeting them in the first place. Misplaced guilt or not, Harumasa lives for them so that at least someone can remember.

🐈‍⬛ Harumasa does have some bad habits that he had to use in order to survive, and he never lost his kindness despite everything. Some of those habits would come up only in specific situations, such as feeling like someone younger than him wasn't eating enough and surreptitiously giving them his own food.

🐈‍⬛ Apollo is probably ironically the only reason Harumasa isn't much worse. As much as he complains about Apollo running his mouth a lot, he honestly appreciates what the god has done for him.

🐈‍⬛ Given that in this AU he didn't have a father figure who died because he wanted to make a cure instead of a wonder drug, Harumasa has instead felt very guilty for leaving behind Ash, Ana, and Jun. He feels like he abandoned them, even though that's very much not the case.

🐈‍⬛ Other than that, not much has really changed about him.

Character Name: Shadow the Hedgehog
Canon: Sonic the Hedgehog (Movie-Verse)
Canon Point: End of Movie 3
Age: 50+
Birthday: June 28 (Headcanon, the day of Sonic Adventure 2’s release in JP)
History: Here!

Personality: Vengeful - While on ice for fifty years Shadow was made to dream of and witness Maria’s death again and again and feel that grief and pain with no outlet for it. All he lives for is avenging Maria and destroying the planet and everyone who took her from him. This pain and vengeance is the crux of who Shadow is and his purpose.

Angry and Bitter - “Shadow the Hedgehog is a bitch ass motherfucker” is actually fully canon. He’s got a lot of rage in his heart, he’s got a lot of resentment against humans and against GUN. This will shine through in him having no respect for anyone who he thinks is not worth his time and repeated offences will have him slam them bodily into the dirt while insulting them.

Arrogant - He’s the Ultimate Lifeform, he’s above most of the people he talks to. And Humans aren’t worth the time of day anyway unless they're named Maria, but she’s gone. So why bother?

Self-loathing and Lost - For as much confidence in his many many abilities Shadow has, he saw how the people in the lab looked at him in the midst of experimentation and tests. They look at him with fear, like a time bomb. He only confided in Maria that he doesn’t know what he is or who but knows he’s from another planet and knows he’s dangerous and he, at least at the time, despised that. That insecurity and even guilt cropped up again when talking to Sonic on the Moon.

Observant both Curiously and Maliciously - Speaking of Sonic, Shadow recognized instantly how close Team Sonic was and considering how on the fly he’s able to beat people’s asses, he’s clearly got a good eye for people’s tendencies on only a few meetings though granted what few meetings he’s had changed him for life. A more subtle person may elude his eye, but he can still see through people. Like again, Sonic, taunting the kid for facing Shadow alone and without his friends, berating him for making the same choice in revenge and mocking him in the midst of their fight after severely injuring Tom. You know, Sonic’s father figure. This comes with a genuine curious nature as much as it comes with a “What the fuck is wrong with you”. Also he’s right Gabriella should have killed them both in that Spanish Soap Opera.

Determined - He lives for vengeance, and while without that he fundamentally lacks purpose, he was no less focused deep on protecting the Earth once he realized destroying it was wrong. Whether it’s to the end of the death of everyone in existence or to the end of their salvation, when Shadow the Hedgehog chooses a path he will not be deterred.

Devoted - Maria Robotnik is literally everything to Shadow. To the point where seeing the grief of another let him connect with someone over his dedication to her. And in the end it’s remembering that his love for Maria won’t go away despite her being gone like a star shining after its death that had him sacrifice himself to save Earth. He’s still mourning, that wound is still festering but it’s the same devotion that formed it that will let it heal.

Time of Arrival to Kaisou: Nebulously Late January, my suggestion for a Labyrinth for him is the GUN Base shortly after the accident that killed Maria. For extra spice, have a firearm next to him just to twist the knife and imply it’s his fault it all happened.
Items:
-Red Stripes
-Jet Boots
-Oh My God

This is to say, just the clothes on his back, which most notably include the Inhibitor Rings he wears around his wrists that greatly diminish his power unless he removes them and yes, actual Jet Boots that allow him to hover and also jet high into the air. Of course on arrival they won't be able to do this, I'll grab that later.

Retained Abilities: Enhanced Physical Ability Package: Strength, Speed, Endurance, Reflexes (4)
Aesthetic "Spell": He glows and crackles with sort of electricity when channeling/about to channel Chaos Energy. This'll just be for the look since I know Chaos Energy itself isn't feasible to regain. (1-2?)

Canon Point: Ch 131, after being subjugated by Shiemi.
Age: As a demon king, Amaimon has been around since there’ve been humans wandering the earth, but his current host body is around 20-ish years old.
Birthday: April 20th (not a canon birthday, but the beginning of taurus season so)

History: Link

Personality:

Amaimon, son of Satan and Demon King of the Earth, is an absolute force to be reckoned with in any capacity. While he hasn't been around as long as some of his far older brothers he's certainly lived long enough to come into his own confidence and self-assured of his abilities. Amaimon is a powerhouse of raw strength and while he usually plays the part of the neutral party unless otherwise goaded into involvement, he is a character that can hold his own very easily. His abilities and strengths draw from the earth itself and like the earth he relies on raw power and strength. His character and personality are simple and straight to the point and at most using and manipulating the earth itself in his fighting abilities.

Outside of battle situations Amaimon is far more chill and mellowed out than most demons. His manner of speaking is blunt and straight to the point, less interested in playing word games and weaving stories like some of his brothers, and more interested in investigating everything around him. The world to him is one large curiosity that he is intent on exploring. In the beginning of the series he seems far more interested in exploring Japan than he is listening to his brother and takes the time to read and learn about the culture and everything within it simply because that is what he was interested in doing.

Like the earth itself, Amaimon can be incredibly stubborn and borderline obstinate. While his average attitude is calm and almost disinterested he can be quickly brought to aggrevation and anger, especially when it's at his expense. At one point during the camping trip arc some of the students had laughed at him accidentally and in response he broke one's arm, another's ribcage, and then choked out the third one. When he becomes overly flustered and angry it's almost impossible to control him (unless you happen to be Mephisto) and he isn't at all afraid to throw a demon king-level tantrum to air out his frustrations – usually on whatever poor soul is around to receive his beatings. Despite his age, Amaimon also tends to be childish at times, using his fingers as binoculars and jumping around while saying "Wheee!" for example. His needs, like a child, are simple: he likes to fight, he likes to eat, and he likes to explore. He doesn't hold any grandiose plans like some of his brothers and prefers taking a neutral standpoint to observe everyone else. He enjoys having fun on his own terms, even if his brand of fun is causing property damage and uping the death toll.

The only ones Amaimon will listen to, as stated in canon, are Mephisto (King of Time, Samael), Shemihaza (whom he serves under contract), and their father, Satan himself. Mephisto is the only one able to sway his younger brother's destructive tendencies and Amaimon respects his decisions ultimately, including those regarding humanity. He's aware of his position in their chain of power and he is even more well aware that he could never stand up to his brother in a full-on fight so he doesn't try.

Time of Arrival to Kaisou: End of January, early Feburary! His labyrinth could either be Amahara (aka, the Garden of Eden) or the interior of True Cross Academy, which is essentially a maze of hallways and rooms that someone can very easily get lost in.

Character Name: Gwendal von Voltaire
Canon: Kyou Kara Maou
Canon History: Wiki link here

Canon Personality: Dour, stoic, and stubborn - People tend to think he's mad at them even when he isn't, because his face is just stuck like that.
Rigidly loyal and honorable to a fault - He will have his own family members exiled or even executed if necessary for acting against the throne.
Cautious and hesitant to trust - He's suspicious of others due to betrayal by family in the past and his nation's history of being attacked by the humans, and he willingly advocates violence in the name of keeping his loved ones safe.
Gentle and protective - His worst-kept secret is that he has a deep weakness for anything small and cute (he's abandoned meetings with important people in order to look after kittens he'd secretly rescued), and he would do anything to safeguard his mother and brothers.

AU Name: N/A
AU Age: 27 (about 130 in canon)
AU Birthday: 4/21

AU History: Gwendal grew up moving around a lot at the behest of his wealthy, free-spirited, magically-unaging mother. He was her first child, kept because she had truly loved his mortal father and would have stayed with the man if it had been safe for her to do so, and he grew up hearing from her at length about how terrible it is that magical people can't safely be with ordinary ones.

She also continued to spend her days looking for new lovers, and occasionally finding them - she repeated the same cycle that had produced him at least twice more, giving him two younger siblings. While she provided for their welfare and education as well as anyone could ever ask, and never treated them with anything less than overwhelmingly doting affection, her lack of emotional stability meant that Gwendal ended up parenting his younger siblings at least as much as his mother did, if not more.

When the younger of his siblings started to reach the rebellious teenage years, Gwendal decided his work with the family was done, and he needed to get out and find his own way in the world; he was more than willing to forgo his mother's finances if it meant getting a little distance from his complicated and smothering family situation. However, because they'd never lived in one place for too long and his mother changed their documents regularly, and his education had only ever been with private tutors and no actual institutions, he had trouble finding any decent employer that would take his resume.

Fortunately, Zodiac understands these kind of circumstances, and appreciates a person who can keep their head down and their mouth shut and just do the damn paperwork that keeps everything running. He works in accounting, but recently he got in a stubborn-off about some truly egregious expense reports with someone higher up, and getting assigned to work with the app users is the result.

AU Personality Differences: A lot of his aggressiveness and suspicion toward others is eased off because he didn't grow up dealing with court politics trying to tear his family apart - his uncle is still a smarmy bastard, but with no kingdom to take over he wasn't really a threat to anything. He's also more willing to pull away from his family and seek his own independence, because there's less that they need protecting from.

Canon History: https://typemoon.fandom.com/wiki/Arcueid_Brunestud/Remake

Canon Personality:  cw: death and violence

Arcueid is a rare and powerful type of vampire with an ancient lineage. She's energetic, whimsical and carefree. Simple things like shopping, going to the movies and spending time with others are meaningful to her. She really just wants to live life to the fullest. Arcueid can easily get caught up by whatever whims she may have. Her carefree nature might make her seem like an airhead.

Long ago, Arcueid’s bloodlust was awakened when Michael Roa Valdamjong tricked her into drinking human blood. She killed all the vampires with an ancient lineage leaving her as the last remaining one. Believing that she deserved to be alone, she locked herself away in the Millennium Castle Brunestud. Her fear of sucking blood makes her different from most vampires. She doesn’t want to succumb to her bloodlust and have another tragedy occur. Instead, Arcueid uses all of her powers to suppress her impulses. This makes her extremely resilient and formidable. She doesn’t go down easily even after being drained of her power.

Behind Arcueid’s carefree smile is a more sorrowful side she doesn’t show too often. Arcueid can’t understand her own feelings very well and describes herself as “broken”. Her physical wounds healed but her emotional wounds did not. Emotions like happiness, anger, sorrow and pain are all things she could no longer ignore. They overwhelm her and she wonders if there’s any meaning to them at all.

Arcueid’s existence is like a weapon with the sole objective of defeating her targets. After hunting her targets she would go to sleep for an unforeseen amount of time. Deep down she wishes that she could live life on her own terms, but she can’t. Her constant daydreaming comes as a result of her wanting things she can’t have. In her earlier years, Arcueid deemed having feelings as something unnecessary. She was taught to never do anything pointless. This made her struggle with her existence and sense of belonging. She never realized that life could actually be fun and meaningful. It’s something that Arcueid needs to come to terms with. Thinking about how much she’s missed out on life makes her deeply upset. She’s never recorded her own age and doesn’t have a specific interest. Apart from hunting down her targets, she believes her existence serves no purpose.

Despite her dark past, Arcueid is still capable of showing compassion. Forgiveness is one of Arcueid’s strengths. When Shiki Tohno killed her she was furious for hours but ultimately decided to forgive him in the end. She believes it’s necessary to atone with action rather than words. Shiki said he was sorry and that was enough to convince her that he was a good person. Arcueid’s moral compass is complex and her values are different from humans. She’s shaped by her unique experiences as a vampire. Long-term consequences aren’t something she thinks about. She lives in the moment and that’s all that matters to her. Her motivations are tied to her personal goals and aspirations rather than something more rigid like duty. Avoiding boredom is one of her goals and she prefers to keep things busy. Instead of acting on logic or reason she does things based on emotion.

AU Name: n/a
AU Age:  24
AU Birthday: December 25
AU History: cw: blood and death

Arcueid is a noblewoman from the prestigious Bruenstud family. Raised in an environment with a tradition, Arcueid's upbringing was extremely strict.  It was expected that she would be composed and poised so there was little to no room for Arcueid to explore her own identity. The Brunestuds were frequent travelers, often leaving on journeys to expand their influence within the nobility. On one of theses occasions, Arcueid begged her parents to let her join them. Reluctantly they agreed, but on the condition that she must not speak to outsiders.

During their travels, her family stumbled upon a single mom named Celia Mercury and her three children. The oldest of whom was Ragna. They seemed like friendly people and weren't nearly as strict as Arcueid's parents. She would then spend time with and try to befriend the three siblings once a year. Even though their meetings were brief, she felt a little less alone with him around. Unlike her own family, they were different and that made her more curious. She couldn't really explain her own feelings at the time but she just knew that it was something special.

Whenever her family returned home from their travels, Arcueid felt trapped by her own circumstances and there was no way to escape from it. At some point, she couldn't take it anymore and she ran outside. Arcueid snuck out of the mansion and played in the garden. Around that time, Arcueid saw a monster behind some bushes. Someone or something was staring at her from the darkness. Arcueid became fearful of the monsters that lurked in the night. Eventually, she stopped going to the garden. It wasn't safe for her to sneak out anymore. When Arcueid asked her family if there were wolves outside they ignored her. Nobody believed Arcueid's claims and she found herself further isolated.

Arcueid’s world was shaped by the limits of her sheltered life. She lacked social experience and desperately yearned for companionship. Her parents would often remind her of place and that she didn't need such things. Occasionally, Arcueid would rebel and do things that she wasn't supposed to.  She preferred to wear commoner clothing instead of fancy attire because she found them difficult to move in.  Her rebellious tendencies got her into trouble more times than she could count. Even though Arcueid tried to follow the rules, she knew that deep down she could never be the person they wanted her to be. From her window, Arcueid saw a reality that she couldn't have. People seemed like they were actually enjoying themselves while living life to the fullest. Arcueid became envious of it and dreamed that one day she could be an ordinary person.

On Arcueid’s 14th birthday, she received word from her servant that her distant family was mysteriously murdered. She was heavily affected by the tragedy and refused to speak to anyone until she had answers. She didn't know what happened to Ragna or the family that was so kind to her. The knowledge that he might be dead made Arcueid constantly grieve and she would often do so while gazing at the moon.

Her daily life changed as well. The expectations placed upon Arcueid grew and she felt more restricted than ever before. She became desperate to learn the truth and searched various news outlets for more information on the tragedy. In her desperation, she ran away from home and cut her hair.

Fleeing from the Brunestud family was a surmountable task, but she had to do it no matter what.  Arcueid climbed over the gate and took a cab to the next city. Life was not easy for her and she found it difficult to adjust to society. Still, Arcueid felt free for the first time. She was no longer bound by the rules of her estate or lineage.

Her mission to find out more about her family friends' murder was so important that she was willing to leave everything behind for it. Fortunately, Arcueid found out that Kaisou city had more resources and information she could use to aid her search. When Arcueid stayed in Kaisou city she became more independent. She stopped relying on her servants and did as she pleased. Arcueid lived there for two months continuing her investigation.

AU Personality Differences:

The first major change with Arcueid's personality would be her upbringing. Instead of being isolated in the Millennium Castle Brunestud, she lived in a mansion with strict rules. Arcueid is bound by the social constricts of the noble society and she's not nearly as carefree as her original self.

Another important thing to mention is that she's emotionally repressed. She never had a chance to express herself openly so she struggles with her own internal turmoil. Not being able to explore her own identity made her feel deep sadness. Arcueid's goal was to leave the mansion and learn what happened to her distant family. In the original version, Arcueid deliberately locked herself away thinking she deserved to be alone. The only time she would leave the castle was when she had another target to dispatch. They have different mindsets and ways of handling their circumstances.

In the original series, Arcueid is a bit more whimsical and she enjoys trivial things like shopping or going to the movies. The key difference in her AU version is that she's determined to go on an investigation and she has a more rebellious side. Arcueid has yet to experience the world and what it can offer so that makes her somewhat sheltered as well.

Character Name: Jin Ling, courtesy name Rulan
Canon: Mo Dao Zu Shi / Grandmaster of Demonic Cultivation (novelverse)
Canon History: Jin Ling’s history tab.

Canon Personality:

HOTHEADED. Half-raised by Jiang Cheng and it shows, Jin Ling's temper is quick to flare up and he is slow to back down. When pissed off enough, he'll draw his sword without thinking, and it is so, so, so easy to piss him off. Just talk shit about his parents or his uncles or his dog or his sword or himself (among many many many buttons) and he'll lose it so fast you'll find yourself flat on your back with a bruise on your cheek in no time.

IMPULSIVE. Like any teenager, Jin Ling is incredibly impulsive. Unlike any teenager, he has cultivation abilities, which means he is unfortunately afflicted with YA Main Character Syndrome, in that he will run off to pursue his goals or get his answers without quite considering the danger that it might land himself in.

ENTITLED. Jin Ling grew up as the clan heir of the richest clan in the MDZS setting, and comes off as a result as rather spoiled. He comes off as deeply arrogant when we first meet him, looking down on other cultivators on the same night hunt he is who don't have his advantages, and unmindful of the struggles of other people around him. This changes over time as he matures and grows into himself, but the habit's still ingrained.

ABANDONMENT ISSUES. Jin Ling's parents died when he was too young to remember them. He's been shuttled back and forth all his life between his stern jiujiu Jiang Cheng and his indulgent but busy shushu Jin Guangyao. It's no wonder, then, that he clings so tightly to what's left of his family, that he's so desperate to prove himself, that he's so insecure deep inside, because he's been left behind before—what's stopping those around him from doing it again?

DETERMINED. Come hell or high water, absolutely nothing is going to stop Jin Ling from his goals. This ties in with the impulsiveness to some degree, but also, Jin Ling, with the assistance of his spiritual dog Fairy, was able to get through a robust three-layered xianxia security system designed to scare off civilians and cultivators alike. The kid will fight like hell to get something if he's determined to get it, and very little can stop him.

WILLING TO CHANGE. Jin Ling has something that much of the Jin sect lacks (save his dad Jin Zixuan), and that's the willingness to listen to others and to change for the better. He's at first unwilling to even listen to a cultivator like "Mo Xuanyu" (really a resurrected Wei Wuxian), but after some time (and a horror-movie field trip), he considers the advice that his uncle gives to him and incorporates it into the way he fights off his bullies. He grows to care about and empathize with others, a strength that comes from his mother Jiang Yanli.

HEART OF GOLD. Jin Ling cares deeply for those around him, when given the chance to interact with them more. He's willing to stand up to and disobey his beloved uncles in order to do what he believes is the right thing to do. He finds it in his heart to forgive Wei Wuxian and the Ghost General, Wen Ning, for their roles in his parents' accidental deaths. As much as he argues with the other juniors, when push comes to shove, he'll fight alongside them and risk his life to watch their backs.

AU Name: Jin Rulan (Americanized: Roland Jin), goes by Jin Ling
AU Age: 18 (canon age: 15)
AU Birthday: Nov. 21

AU History: content warnings: abduction of minor, minor in peril, claustrophobia, buried alive, possession, homesickness, themes of bullying.

  • born to a lawyer and a teacher, Jin Rulan was a bright, if bratty, young boy who grew up unaware of the supernatural—the closest his family came was his mother’s brother being deeply involved in possession research before they cut off all contact with him. by all accounts he was an ordinary boy who became a somewhat arrogant teenager with a great big chip on his shoulder.

  • this changed when he was sixteen. he and a friend he was having a sleepover with were walking back from a midnight corner store run when a hungry yao ambushed them, and to save his friend, Jin Rulan instinctively picked up the nearest sharp object and stabbed the monster to death, holy light pouring forth from him. somehow, he just knew how to defeat the yao, despite having never encountered one as far as he remembered.

  • he did this in full view of a Black Order agent, who swept in and got them both medical attention. however, while at the hospital, the Black Order pulled strings to pull Jin Rulan out before his parents could get there, and then pulled him into their organization, where they gave him an ultimatum. either he joined up, or his friend, still in the hospital and swearing up and down that they had been attacked by a real live monster, would.

  • Jin Rulan would end up training and then working for the Order for a whole year. in that time, he started remembering his past life more and more, which exacerbated his issues and made him significantly more irritable and angry with whoever he was working with. many times, he nearly came to blows with other Guardians, because he was just that much of an asshole, and also because it was easy to rile him up and exacerbate his already short temper.

  • it came to a head when he and another Guardian named Wen Chao were supposed to deal with some monster haunting a mausoleum who killed via burying people alive. neither of them liked each other much, but Jin Rulan was a lot more skilled than Wen Chao at slaying monsters and Wen Chao knew it. so he let Jin Rulan kill the monster, knowing that in doing so, Jin Rulan would be buried alive. then he simply…left him behind.

  • Jin Rulan kicked and screamed and clawed at the earth, trying to get himself free. at the last moment, as his air was running out, he was honestly terrified he would die. then he heard a voice, vaguely Irish and worried: oh, shit, what are you doing here? do you need help getting out? let me help you.

  • Jin Rulan said: yes.

  • the ghost who helped him really hadn’t meant to properly possess him—they only wanted to help get him free of the earth, having once been killed this same way, so they didn’t want anyone else to get hurt like this again. however, as this was their first time possessing anyone, they, uh, fucked up a touch, and instead of being able to get loose immediately, they found themselves…well, stuck.

  • after that, Jin Rulan has been going by his past life’s name of Jin Ling and keeping well away from the Black Order, even after hearing of its new and more merciful management. he spent his 18th birthday having stowed away on a ship returning to America, and has been hitchhiking slowly but determinedly to Kaisou since late November.

  • along the way, he picked up a small and adorable little shih-tzu that he named Sunny.

  • AU Personality Differences:

ABANDONMENT ISSUES (BUT WORSE!) Jin Ling got to stay with his parents until he was sixteen. Unfortunately, that just made his insecurities surrounding them so much worse. He is deeply, sincerely worried about what they'll say if they find out that their beloved missing son has been in some kind of messed-up secret supernatural organization for a whole year before he got almost killed because he trusted the wrong person. He's absolutely terrified they'll think he's insane, or they'll be furious with him, or that some form of harm will come down on them, or god only knows what else. None of this is helped by the fact that his Uncle Ying also cut off all contact and vanished into thin air before he was born.

SCRAPPY. Having been abandoned to a yao that tried to kill him, and then being possessed by a friendly ghost, and then having been on the run for a year, Jin Ling's significantly less entitled than he was before, and far scrappier and more resourceful. This is a kid who's learned pickpocketing and stealing and lying on his papers and thinking on his feet, because the alternative is much, much worse.

CYNICAL. In his past life, as much of a loner as Jin Ling was, he always knew he could rely on his uncles. In this one, Jin Ling's only been able to rely on a friendly ghost and a dog, because the other guardians he had to deal with in the Black Order, uh, really did not like him much, and he can't bring himself to contact his parents and reveal to them what he's been up to and what he's had to do. His morality's taken a bit of a dent, as a result—he won't blink an eye at swiping some cash or forging papers, and he acts like he's not surprised when people disappoint him.

Jin Ling and Casper actually get along pretty well, with Jin Ling trusting them greatly, they're just both not sure how to get un-possessed without bringing harm to either one of them, which is why Jin Ling's made it all the way to Kaisou.

    Canon Point: After Patch 6.1
    Age: 25
    Birthday: October 20th
History: General ffxiv history with ooc flavor context! Also CW for child neglect

    - Inwa was born in Hingashi and left with some foreign adventurers/seafarers that had settled down in Kugane. He has never known his birth family, but was taken in and loved by his adopted family.

    - Fairly early in his life, they realized his aether instability and in realizing the vast amounts of aether in Eorzea could be dangerous for him, he was forced to remain home in Hingashi alone while his family sailed back and forth for work.

    - During that time, Inwa devoted himself to study and learning magic to control his abilities and become strong enough to be allowed across the salt. He would do work in a shrine and a small country clinic to keep himself from getting lonely.

    - In his late teens, he endeavored to hitch a ride on a different ship and make his own way to Eorzea. The trip by sea was long and arduous, but once he set foot on land, he made his way to Gridania to see the conjurer’s guild and also meet The Warrior of Light on the way.

    - In a turn of events, He and the WoL became friends, and he entered a slippery slope of ending up the individual’s healer and fellow Scion. From there, everything follows MSQ.

    - When Inwa is not working as a healer for the WOL, he works in Hingashi as a Priest and in Eorzea as a Captain in an adventuring company that takes on less world ending tasks in the WOL’s rest periods. So he miiiight be something of a workaholic.

    Canon Abilities:
    - White mage job stone - he prefers to heal by touch but can also do it the old fashion way
    - Familiar with and can use very basic thaumaturge and red mage magic, specifically fire. He’s VERY GOOD with fire.
    - Priest spells and spiritual magic, this mostly consists of seeing spirits, guiding them, communication, and sometimes sealing and banishing them.
    - This isn’t a magic ability, but Inwa is far more likely to use his powers of negotiation and talking rather than attacking or using force.

    Personality:
    - Anxiety is usually the word used to describe Inwa. He worries, he overthinks. He swings between abundantly happy and laying flat and wanting to become an inanimate object so that the responsibilities of the world stop piling up. If someone is hurt or getting themselves into a dangerous situation, he will worry. If someone he hates, or a villain doing the same thing? He’s liable to worry about them, too. All life is precious, and all life will stress him out to the ends of the galaxy and back.

    - Imagine if you will a train station where the bullet train doesn’t stop. Every platform is for a thought, and you catch glimpses as they pass. Something is said and even if you didn’t want to think about it, that is the train that will be running around the train station of your mind for weeks. Do you want someone who is academically inclined yet also determined who will sit and fill a conspiracy wall for a week to connect wild situations together to try and make sense of it all? Welcome to Inwa’s mind. It comes with the package.

    - In all honestly, when you meet him, he is polite and kind. Inwa is always happy to make new friends and talk to people. He enjoys learning and getting to listen to people talk. He’s dependable, responsible and will keep his word even to his own detriment. Likewise, he can be a joy to have around if you ignore the frequent manic swing to depression and anxiety.

    - I could go on and on about his drawbacks, as if I haven’t named a few of them. Responsibility leads to determination, and that determination can be as blind as his pacifism. He will save and heal the enemy, even treat them as humanely as anyone else in the fact of insults and terrible treatment, yet he will still lose his temper and tell people off. Inwa’s coping mechanisms are absolutely nonexistent. He’ll be depressed for weeks and then act like nothing happened. He loves meeting people and being social, while also being introverted and eternally worried that he is annoying to others. Loving people also comes with being allergic to commitment and scared of relationships! It’s awful.

    - He’s so bad at math. Please never ask him to try archanist magic or summoning a carbuncle. Unless you are prepared to see what ‘biblically accurate carbuncle’ looks like, it’s best to leave him to his ‘natural magic’ as he calls it. His arms are also noodles. If he tried to lift anything heavier than his staff, he is likely to break something. He would try to work out and gain some muscle mass, but he’s so bad at remembering to eat or take care of himself. Inwa’s just a danger to himself.

Time of Arrival to Kaisou: He’s probably been here for about two weeks! I also have no ideas for the labyrinth, so go ham. I’m sure he cried for a few hours before figuring his way out.

    Character Name: Kinich
    Canon: Genshin Impact
Canon History: Kinich CW for domestic violence, parental death, and child abuse

Canon Personality: 🌺 Kinich comes off cold, quiet, and reserved. He prefers it this way since it keeps people at arms length.

🌺 He doesn't believe that there's anything free in life. Anything given to someone for "free" is suspicious.

🌺 However, when something is sincerely given to him for free, Kinich doesn't know what to do with it. Most of the time, he'll outright refuse to take it or he'll insist on giving something back of equal value. The 'price' of friendship is equally something he can struggle with.

🌺 Despite his cold nature, Kinich deeply cares about the people he grows close to. He has agreed without any prompting to wake up his friends early in the morning for the tournament, for example.

🌺 Whether it's for a job or someone trying to dig for more information about him, Kinich will always name a price for it. He's willing to negotiate it, of course, but he knows his worth and he'll make sure the person hiring him understands that, too. A simple chat with him doesn't have a price tag on it, though he might get a little wary if it goes into a deeper discussion.

🌺 Kinich really doesn't give a damn about chivalry. He'll take any commission and name the price he's willing to work for it. Withholding information or trying to get one over on him will have Kinich revisiting their contract and raising the price. What that raise in price means is generally determined by what is being withheld from him.

🌺 As he puts it, 70% of his energy goes into investigating his commission thoroughly, 10% goes into making his final decision about it, and the remaining goes towards the execution. There's been one time where he has been given a commission to kill Kachina's saurian (dinosaur) companion because of some bullies she had. Instead of going through with the commission, Kinich goes to "teach those lowlifes a lesson" without anyone else knowing about it and forces them to quietly take down the job.

🌺 This very much has led to him having a ruthless and selfish reputation because he doesn't feel the need to explain himself. The job of a Saurian Hunter is already distasteful enough, but someone has to do it so he doesn't mind.

🌺 That being said, he has selflessly sacrificed himself for the sake of his comrades before. After being surrounded by Abyss monsters and knowing that his survival is the only way his comrades can live again, he fights until his last breath. This sacrifice is how he gets his Dendro Vision, which gives him the power necessary to finish the battle and allow himself and his comrades the chance to be resurrected.

🌺 In Kinich's own words, there are just some things out there that are worth doing no matter the cost.

🌺 Kinich has a love of doing extreme sports, such as cliff diving. It's both for the adrenaline rush and to test his skills. At the same time, it also shows his philosophy on how he handles fear. He'll acknowledge it, and then he'll face it head on if the price is right.

AU Name: Iktan Kinich Mendoza Franco
    AU Age: 29
    AU Birthday: November 11 (canon)
    Faction: The Black Order

AU History: CW for child abuse, domestic violence, gambling addiction, alcoholism, and death

Kinich was born in Tulum, Mexico. His mother was a hard-working woman who tended to a small vegetable garden in their backyard while doing part-time work and taking care of their son on her own. His father was a working man who liked to spend his earnings on gambling and drinking. On the days he won his games, he would be as sweet as ever. Gifting Kinich with expensive toys and treats, and getting lovely bouquets of flowers for his wife... but they never took away from the bad days where he lost most of his paycheck. At first, it was just arguments between the married couple, but it soon escalated into violence against his mother. Sometimes the police were called to break up the fight.

However, they soon lost their house in Tulum and moved further away to a rougher part of town. The chances of their neighbors intervening was greatly reduced, and it continued in that way until Kinich was about four years old. He was never sure what happened to his mother, but she left them one night and he never saw her again. Kinich inherited her new little garden, the housework, and the beatings. However, as he grew older, he found that he was pretty lucky and physically very capable even at that age. He was able to escape the violence for a few minutes of freedom.

It wasn't until he was around seven that his father didn't come home one day. Child services was fortunately called and he was placed in a private orphanage. He attended a different school where he diligently studied. Kinich kept quiet and to himself for the most part. Although he excelled in academics and did odd jobs even as a child in order to build up a savings, he didn't really want to attend university. Kinich had curiosity in abundance and a sharp mind, but he liked going through athletics training more than pursuing knowledge. So, when he turned 18, Kinich signed up for career military training at the Heroica Escuela Navy Militar with the intent to join the Cuerpo de Infantería de Marina. As far as Kinich was concerned, this would both challenge him physically and academically to his satisfaction. Fortunately for him, he barely passed the minimum height requirements for recruitment.

He had a lot of promise as an officer, though he didn't make friends very easily. Kinich was a quick study and took to combat training like he was born for the job. He was able to graduate from the university a little earlier than most of his fellow cadets. His future was looking bright as a career officer. That was until he was around 23 years old. An accident occurred on the naval base he was stationed at: an explosion at the munitions depot. Kinich acted quickly with the rest of his comrades to rescue the injured. However, he noticed that the fire seemed to be behaving strangely. It was like it was intentionally trying to entrap them in the inferno. Kinich acted by making certain all of his injured comrades were out of the ring of fire, and he threw the final man out before the circle closed around him.

That was when the final explosion turned his world into a sea of flames and searing pain.

Kinich had very clear memories of the being that saved his life. It overlapped with his memories of a past life, in which he tested and was tested by a similar loudmouthed lizard proclaiming himself as a god. This one was a feathered serpent of some kind calling himself K'uhul Junjaw. Kinich could tell that there was a great power in this creature, and decided to bank on the side of caution. He engaged in negotiating with Junjaw, which took what felt like days but truly was only within a second. Finally, they reached an accord. Kinich would be given new life and the power of this feathered serpent (on a limited, conditional, restricted, contractual, partial, temporary basis). In exchange, Junjaw would receive his "faith" by making a public altar and giving offerings of delicious berries or juice, and will (allegedly) take control of Kinich's body upon his death.

Afterwards, he woke up in a hospital where he was visited by a Guardian from The Black Order. The Guardian thought that they could use the fact that he would be hurt, confused, and high on painkillers to manipulate him into joining them. They didn't expect Kinich to sit up and immediately start making demands on what his contract with them should look like. It would include his base rate, clauses for raising his price based on the difficulty of the mission and how much information was withheld from him, what his benefits should look like on a specific timetable, etc. The Guardian quickly fled the scene and brought in Zhongli to negotiate the initial contract with Kinich.

Upon his release, he was honorably discharged and maintained his military benefits as a veteran. Kinich would swiftly make a reputation for himself as a Guardian who could be hired for various commissions. His rate was high, but he was worth every cent spent on his services. He would inevitably be hired for work from Zodiac and POKEGO due to him only reporting to his superiors in cases where there was an egregious violation of their code. Any minor infractions made while he was in their employ would be tacitly overlooked.

During the Black Order Rebellion, Kinich stayed far away from HQ by working on commissions. To him, it didn't matter who won and who lost. He was going to stay so long as they continued to pay him for his work. At the same time, Kinich did try to investigate who or what might have tried to kill his comrades all those years ago. He just couldn't shake the feeling it wasn't an accident in any way.

    Element: Fire
Purchased Powers: Hair aesthetic (1pt), eye color and pupil (2pts), Dendro Vision (4pts), Spirit Companion (Small; 2pts), Mascot Character (Low; 1pt), Luck +2 (2pts), Elemental Burst (4pts), Elemental Skill (4pts)

    Elemental Skill
Using elemental energy (Dendro/plant element, Earth in Kaisou's system), Kinich can create a grappling hook. He's able to use this to swing around in combat as well as latch onto enemies. By gathering up more energy, Kinich can create a cannon that he can use to fire projectiles of elemental energy. He can fire 3-4 shots depending on circumstances before his energy is depleted. The specific circumstance to get his 4th shot is that Fire magic must be present. Once his Elemental Skill is used in this way, he needs to wait two tags before he can use it again.

He can also use this skill in a similar fashion to Spider-Man's web slinging for travel outside of combat.

    Elemental Burst
Kinich summons a large projection of a dragon that's made up of elemental energy. The dragon will last for 3 tags and can shoot big, elemental laser beams.

Possession: Feathered Serpent (Junjaw); Price - Kinich must make an altar to Junjaw in public, and give it daily offerings of either delicious berries or juice. Junjaw may or may not actually possess Kinich's body in full if Kinich dies.

    Canon: Fidelio Aureus Magnus
Canon History: History here, Shared with Basilio Magnus. PLEASE NOTE, His history contains HEAVY SPOILERS for mid to late Metaphor as he and his brother do not join the main party until late in the game. (He and Basilo are the final party members.)

    Canon Personality:

💜 Loyal - Regardless of what his own thoughts and feelings are, Fidelio is loyal nearly to a fault. So long as he trusts someone, he will follow them to the ends of the earth and do anything in his power to aid them. He will protect them and make sure they're safe, even at a detriment to himself.
💜 Selfless - While he comes across as callous and cold, the truth is, Fidelio is a very selfless person--especially when it comes to protecting the weak. Throwing himself into battles he may not win, or fighting monsters ten times his size; it doesn't matter. So long as it's to protect someone who can't protect themselves, he'll do it.
💜 Quick-Witted - Being stuck in the body of a 16-year old has its downsides, like not being able to get as physically strong as most Paripus his age are capable of. Instead, he's learned to be a quick strategist and someone who can think on his feet. Being able to make the best plan in the moment, he's a good strategist when it comes down to it. He's the 'Brain' while his brother tends to be the 'Brawn'.
💜 Proud - Paripus are animal-like people who are often looked down at by most of society--being seen as inferior due to them being closely related to animals. Fidelio isn't ashamed of his background--deciding instead to be proud of the being that he is, and that he's survived as long as he did despite all difficulties that life has thrown him. As a result he often refuses help from others and pretends he's fine when he's injured or tired, as he's too proud to show any sort of weakness.

🖤 Untrusting - Given the things he's experienced in his life--being used as a target for magic experimentation, growing up being seen as a 'filthy animal'--Fidelio has difficulty trusting people. He can learn to trust and will become a fiercely loyal companion if you do get close, but it takes a long time.
🖤 Sharp-tongued, cold - He keeps nearly everyone at arm's length and chases people away from himself by speaking to them coldly and without remorse. He doesn't pull any punches and will point out the flaws in anyone's words or weaknesses if only to keep them from getting too close to him.
🖤 Stubborn - Regardless if it's stubbornness born from not wanting help from others or kindness from people he doesn't know; Fidelio is stubborn as a bull and is hard-pressed from changing his mind about anything. He likewise would rather walk around with a broken ankle than admit he needs help, and things of that sort.
🖤 Pragmatic - While Fidelio is someone who gets very in his own feelings sometimes--his approach to nearly every situation is logical before it's emotional. He doesn't understand why people would let their feelings get in the way of reaching a goal, even if it means walking over people in order to achieve it.

AU Name: Felix Kinsley, changed it to Fidelio Magnus.
AU Age: 30, but due to circumstances with his past, he appears no older than 16.
    AU Birthday: September 10th

AU History: CW for child abuse/experimentation. Born in Liverpool in the United Kingdom, Felix was bound for a pretty normal life alongside his brother, who was two years younger than him, until the day that his parents went missing, leaving the brothers behind with no family willing to take them in.
Being 6 years old and his brother 4, they were both placed in the system and were bound to live in an Orphanage for a few years until they could be adopted--but made things difficult. For any would-be parents looking for a child, Basil, being the younger brother and easier to adopt, would often sabotage any hopefuls by acting up whenever possible parents got too close. Each brother refusing to get adopted without the other, they ended up reaching the ages of 9 and 7 before they were moved to a different facility.

They thought they were merely being transferred to a different facility, but it turns out that they were instead picked up by an organization called Krusnik, where they spent the next several long years of their life under their torturous regime, being used for all manner of experiments and magic-testing to try to bring about strange powers or god-like possessions to be used as tools by the people who 'adopted' them.

For Felix, the experiments stunted his growth and made him age very slowly--if at all. Reaching the physical age of 16 and then halting any further growth. His skin also lost all pigmentation and appears a sickly whiteish-grey colour, his eyes leeching a sickly yellow tone, and his hair also changed to a dull, dusty colour that's closer to purple than anything else. In terms of powers, he only managed to really gain the ability to make barriers. He uses these to protect his brother or those who were in danger, making himself a bit of a pest to the Krusnik Scientists.

Despite his desire to protect his brother, he feels his attempts to do so made thing worse for Basil--as there was an incident that nearly took the other boy's life. However, he did survive--even at the cost of having something else move into his body to assure his survival. Felix hasn't quite forgiven himself for that, even if he avoids talking about it. It made Basil stronger, and the scientists had much more interest in him and his growth after that day.

Maybe it was just good providence that a week later, their facility was invaded by a Living Weapon in human skin. A pale woman who wanted nothing more than to destroy the entire place and any who held any loyalty to Krusnik. The Magnus brothers held no such desire to uphold anything Krusnik stood for, so the moment that they were given a bit of quarter to leave, they took it. Never looking back. Adjusting to life outside of a cage was strange, but it was a life they could get used to, so long as they had one another.

The only two people in the world they needed were themselves, as who even remembered them? Or so they thought. They ended up meeting with an old friend who somehow recognized the brothers for who they were and after a few days of conversation and convincing, they now seek to sneak into Kaisou to find a place to stay and lie low, as well as adjust to a life of freedom where they can do what they want without any ties to anyone.

They'll change their names and start a new life. One where they follow their own rules.

    That's their hope, at least.

AU Personality Differences: There's not a whole lot of differences between Del's canon personality and his AU one. Having similar life experiences, the only real difference is that his loyalty is to his brother, instead of a Lord aiming to become a king.

(He and Basilo are the final party members.). Light CW for child abuse/experimentation as there's not a ton of detail but it's something I'm going to talk about further down as well.

    Canon Personality:
    + Easy-going
    + Cheerful
    + Reliable
    + Loyal
    + Kind
Basilio's an affable person as long as he's not at odds with you; he dreams of opening a diner with the people closest to him and suggests drawing smiley faces on pastries. He likes talking to people and is an easy come, easy go sort--rolling with life and never spending too much time worrying about things (until the plot forces his hand and forces his perspective.) He's also the ridest of ride or dies, willing to follow his friends (particularly his brother) into the bowels of Hell itself just because it's the right thing to do and there's work to be done. He wants to help people and see the world change for the better, hoping to make it so that things are... fairer. Kinder. He's a bit of a 'my master, right or wrong' type, but he gets better with a good smack about the head an appeal to his better senses.

    +/- Simple
Could be a good thing or a bad thing; Basilio is incredibly straightforward in the way he lives his life. Life's black and white, you're right or wrong, people are strong or weak--he's not given to deep philosophizing and he tends to leave the thinking to his older brother, Del. Things wash out one way or another, and Bas doesn't really begin to see the point of looking at the gray areas in the world until he's forced to stand on business by a true test of his ideals--saving innocent people, or standing idle as they're killed by the man Basilio followed (not Del).

    - Aloof
    - Distrusting
    - Reckless
    - Self-depreciating
On the other hand, being used as experimental fodder and belonging to one of the "lesser" races in the world's setting has set a hardness in Basilio that he won't drop easily, if ever. For as much as he leans towards being social and pleasant, he knows firsthand how easily people will hurt others and has no intention of ever being on the back foot about it ever again. He's a physical fighter so he throws himself into everything headfirst with little regard for his safety--as long as he's opening a path for the others he's fighting for, it's fine if it hurts him. Bas also isn't the 'smart one' of the two brothers, so while he's very emotionally intelligent, he's quick to play off that he's capable of thinking for himself because he's always followed his big brother's lead in things.

AU Name: Basil Kinsley, changed to Basilio Magnus because stuff it, Kinsley House >:C
AU Age: 28; no noted canon age.
    AU Birthday: April 30th

AU History: CW for child abuse/experimentation. Basil and Felix were orphaned and placed in a facility young; Felix has some memories of their folks, but Basil's only ever had his big brother, and it inspired a die-hard loyalty and affection in him. Both brothers would raise hell and act up something fierce if anyone dared try to separate them--and so life continued until Basil and his brother were seven and nine years old, respectively, when the Krusnik organization selected the pair for further testing.

What was framed as a change of facility to the brothers Kinsley was actually the beginning of nearly two decades of intensive, excruciating testing and experimentation that's left permanent scars on both brothers, some more visible than others. Felix took to magic and manipulating energy in a way that Basil never could, but that never stopped Basil from trying to take more than his share of pain in order to spare his sibling more suffering. Felix had his growth stunted, and skin and hair burned to strange, unnatural colors--but despite his best efforts, nothing stuck to Basil until something went terribly, wonderfully wrong in his later teens. Since general magic power hadn't taken root in Basil, he was selected as a candidate for research into the process of magical possession.

Basil died on that table, that day--but in those final moments of his life, the angry, desperate embers of his desire to live, to protectany life other than this reached something's ears, and Basil took its bargain for another chance at making life better.

(He's never given Felix the details of what happened. He tries not to think about them too much himself, to be fair.)

Things were in a holding pattern for a while as Basil trained with his newfound power and played as difficult as he could under the circumstances, until some apocalypse shaped like a woman came steamrolling through the facility he and Felix were in--and rather than stand and fight, they ran off like the devil was on their heels asking about their car's extended warranty. One strong promise to dig into life and not let go no matter how much it hurt and a significant namechange later, Basilio and Fidelio Magnus went to ground and did what any good Englishman would--got the fuck out of the country as fast as they possibly could.

They spent the better part of the last year or two looking for other kids from the old Kinsley Place, making friends with the right people to get you documentation that nobody asks too many questions about, and trusting no one but each other. A little birdie gave them a tip about a certain city, and a gentle suggestion that they have a look at it for themselves, and well... they've got nowhere else to be.

    Anywhere but England, really.

AU Personality Differences: Basilio's had less time to develop himself as a person; where in canon he and Fidelio spent an uncomfortable amount of time as career soldiers (with all the society of other misfits and unwanteds that that brought, despite its hardships), Bas has only really had Del to lean on, so he's a little lonelier and a little more awkward around people. Freedom's new and intoxicating and he's fully running through the Rapunzel-coming-from-the-tower-in-Tangled stages of grief and elation with being a free man... plus his roommate and protective, paranoid older sibling.

Possession: the demigod hero Cú Chulainn, thanks to Krusnik's experiments. Cú Chulainn demands three things:

    1. Seek worthy combat.
    2. Accept any food offered by a woman.
    3. Do not consume dog meat.

Since not eating dog (or fae-interpreted variations of dog) is Cú Chulainn's geas, it makes Basilio ill and put him out of commission for a day or two. Women with lunch carts in parks are his greatest bane.

    Character Name: Mollymauk Tealeaf
    Canon: Critical Role
Canon History: Here! !!WARNING, SPOILERS FOR CAMPGAIN 2!!

    Canon Personality:
─ The first thing you will realize about Mollymauk Tealeaf is that the man stands out like a sore thumb. Not only because of the purple skin, horns, and tail, but because he dresses like an ostentatious eyesore. One way to describe it is very loud. The second thing you'll notice is that he is completely and utterly full of bullshit. Which he most definitely is and it is entirely by design. Mollymauk Tealeaf, after all, is a persona constructed over the course of two years in a circus by a lonely tiefling who crawled his way out of a grave with no memories of who he was or what happened to him. Rather than attempt to uncover his missing memories, Molly deigned to leave whoever he was before buried in the ground, and he has absolutely zero interest in ever digging up his former life up to the point where the mere idea terrifies and repulses him. He's come by who he is honestly, and he likes who he is now. He doesn't want to find out that he's not the person he's decided he is and be forced to feel beholden to the cold reality he's forgotten.

─ It is important to note that Mollymauk "grew up" in a carnival. It was all he knew and his experiences there were an integral part of forming the man he is today. He is painfully aware of his appearance, choosing to make himself as loud and showy as possible. He reasons that if people are going to stare at him he may as well make sure to give them something good to look at. From his obnoxious multicolored coat, to the jewelry adorning his horns, to his tattoos, everything is made to make him stand out as much as humanly possible. He often chases after pleasure, especially when life is disappointing, and new experiences be they good or bad with a great amount of enthusiasm. Life is short and most people only get one, he wants to be happy and enjoy himself, and if he can make other people happy as well? Then all the better.

─ He tends to carry himself with the air of someone very confident and self-assured. Insults flung in his direction tend to slide off him like water off a ducks back. Molly doesn't seem to care that people make snap judgments on him. When asked why anyone should trust him since he lies and bullshits, his response is "Because I always lie and bullshit." He might make up stories, but he's honest about who he is as a person, because it separates him from his former life. Due to being a tiefling, a lot of people are immediately distrusting or suspicious of him, but he can shrug it off like it's nothing. In fact, it takes a lot to get him legitimately angry. He can be stern and unwavering when he's made up his mind, but mostly he lets things breeze on by. Life's too short and full of new experiences to really bother with being unhappy about anything. The closest he ever comes to being genuinely upset is when faced with any aspect of his past before he lost his memories- that can drive him into an absolute fearful panic.

─ He is something of a liar and a con, but he is a good person with a strict moral code- he only takes from people who could stand to have a little less, never takes more than what he feels he's earned, never steals from the people he's around (and expects his party members to do the same), and always follows through on a promise. He seems to see the best in people, to some extent, and encourages people, sometimes through mischief and violence, to do better. In fact, he even uses his skills at Tarot (though he lacks any actual magical divination talent) to set people on what he perceives to be the right path, and when someone points out that he can't possibly know what the right path for those people are, he indignantly protests that he left every town better than the way he came to it, and that he would never seek to send a person down a path they wouldn't choose, explaining that some people just need guidance and a direction. This is never more true than when he stops a fight with some bandits, gives them a stirring speech about getting their lives together or else, and then gives them all some gold, and sends them off.

─ Because of living in the circus where all they had was each other, Molly is extremely loyal to the groups he travels with, even if he doesn't necessarily like all of them. He and Beauregard, for example, have a mutual dislike of one another, but on several occasions he's stopped her from getting hurt and they’re starting to come around as playfully spiteful of one another. He's a liar, in his own words, but not a betrayer, though this doesn't preclude him from shady or sometimes "tough love" tactics, like charming Nott into making her tell him why she wanted to steal from Fjord or slapping Caleb out of PTSD episode, but they're meant for the betterment of the group so it's justified in his mind. It should be noted that due to most circus performers not being hindered by social propriety, these were probably standard tactics in dealing with dishonesty and anxiety among the group, and he just honestly doesn't know any better, nor does he particularly care about learning otherwise.

─ Molly is extremely good at reading people. He's keenly observant, and tends to make very snap judgments on people, which seems to be because he doesn't care about anyone's past or reasoning for their behavior, but rather who they are in the moment. He doesn't care about his past and he doesn't let that define him, so he doesn't let it define other people. How you present yourself in the present is all that matters to him, which means that he's capable of forgiving or just actively not caring what a person has done in their past so long as they're not a royal shitheel in the present. This wisdom also helps him con and lie his way through awkward situations, because he can observe people's reactions and play to their expectations. It's less that he's a good liar and more that he's good at knowing what people want or expect to hear. The minute he starts to expand upon his lies, they risk falling apart, as he tends to go to extremely dramatic fabrications, rather than keeping it simple. Truth be told, unless the situation is dangerous, he doesn't even care if he's caught in a lie. That story he told about how his family are worshipers of a demon that lives in a volcano? Of course it's a lie! But it's a good story, isn't it? The truth is overrated. People don't want to hear the truth. It only upsets people.

    AU Name: n/a
    AU Age: 26
    AU Birthday: November 4

    AU History:
    • raised in a orphanage Mollymauk Tealeaf's childhood was less than stellar. he was always a trouble maker, getting into things he shouldn't, stealing from the sisters who took care of them, sneaking out and staying up way past curfew etc. he brought laughter to an otherwise gloomy environment and the other children loved him, as did the sisters despite all the trouble he always caused.
    • it was that habit of finding trouble that caused everything to fall apart one fateful night. Mollymauk was staying up longer than he should have, in a part of the orphanage that was normally not accessible to the children. the structure was in need of repair, you see, as the orphanage was a old building and the ravages of time had taken it's toll on it. not that Mollymauk cared about that, he enjoyed going places the sisters didn't want him to go, and doing things the sisters didn't want to do; like exploring structurally unsound areas of their home late at night in the pitch darkness.
    • naturally while exploring tragedy occurred, a candle lit to help him see a little better caught a bit of old curtain alight. by the time Mollymauk realized what had happened it was too late, the fire engulfing the old building in a matter of moments. the building collapsed under the weight of the flames, with young Mollymauk inside.
    • by all rights he shouldn't have survived that night. by the time the firefighters arrived and put out the fire, he should have been dead, but miraculously he survived though forever changed. when Mollymauk awoke the next day he found himself in his bed, his head hurting and his body aching, it wasn't until he managed to get up and go to the washroom that he realized something was off. his skin had turned lavender purple, his eyes a solid red, he had grown horns that curled either side of his head, and a tail! a devil just like the one the sisters always spoke of from their books! panicked he went to find one of the sisters only for them to usher him quickly back to his room ordering him to stay inside, that he must not be seen by the other children.
    • for nearly a week Mollymauk was isolated in his room, the door remaining locked unless it was one of the sisters bringing him some food, or a change of clothes. he didn't understand what was happening, why it was happening, and no matter how many times he tried to ask none of the sisters would give him an answer.
    • he was adopted by a rich couple shortly after, the process was quick and nothing like any of the other adoptions that happened in the orphanage. before Mollymauk knew it he was swept away never to see any of the kids he grew up with ever again. He was 10 years old.
    • in the beginning his adopted parents were kind, treating him to all sorts of gifts and making sure he was comfortable in his new life and body. but things turned quickly sour the day he excited showed off a magic trick he had been practicing. it was then that Mollymauk went from beloved son to useful tool.
    • he was encouraged to improve his skills, becoming incredibly talented with slight of hand tricks and pickpocketing, and once he turned the sweet age of 12 he began to preform those tricks to a small crowd of morbidly curious who wanted to see the devil boy and his fancy tricks. sometimes he would even perform a private show for his parents and one or two people he didn't know, watching as his parents attacked and robbed these people before never seeing them again. it didn't take much to realize his "parents" killed them and disposed of their bodies.
    • these shows got more elaborate the older he got, slight of hand tricks begin combined with his alluring charisma, making it all the easier to lure unfortunate souls back for a private show. this continued for 6 years, the couple that adopted him growing richer and richer as time passed, their crimes seemingly going unnoticed or utterly ignored. but everything changed on his 18th birthday.
    • that night their home was attacked by a unknown party, throwing everything into utter chaos. Mollymauk, who had been intending to disappear in the night, took full advantage of the chaos. slipping out the window of what had been his "room" and into the dark knight. he never cared to figure out who had attacked them, or why, he just wanted out of there and away from them. he spent the first two nights jumping at shadows, convinced that he would caught by some other asshole who wanted a personal circus freak to entertain them and their rich friends. the third night he stumbled upon a group of people taking shelter from the rain.
    • one of the women in the group, an older woman with long curly hair that had long since greyed, took one look at him and ushered him over to the fire. hungry and wet, Mollymauk went after a few moments of hesitation. this woman, Leia, made sure he dried encouraging him to stay for as long as he'd like. he had intended to leave the next day, but sometimes plans don't go the way you intended.
    • the next day turned into a week, and then a month, and before he knew it eight years had passed in a blink of an eye. Molly found a family in that rag tag group of people he had found hiding from the rain, a family he didn't know he wanted until the day he found them. they spent the eight years living their lives to the fullest, traveling around and making the best of the world around them. truthfully he would have been content to spend the rest of his days with them, but opportunity reared it's head and called out to him so sweetly. singing a song of a fantastical city and it's unusual happenings. a place where a man like him might just find something new and exciting to experience.

AU Personality Differences: Mollymauk isn't wholly different from his canon personality. He doesn't worry about his past life coming back to bite him in the ass, which is really funny considering he is going to start remembering things the moment he shows up in Kaisou.

    Character Name: Luke Fon Fabre
    Canon: Tales of the Abyss
    Canon History: It's so much.
CW: SUICIDE IDEATION, MANIPULATION, KILLING OF AN ENTIRE TOWN
Canon Personality: Luke starts Tales of the Abyss as an almost wholly unlikeable character, both by the player and the characters in-universe. To call him a "jerk with a heart of gold" might be a mistake; he's certainly a character with a personality that can rub people the wrong way who really cares about people, but he doesn't purposefully use his assholeishness to push people away. Really, it would be more fitting to call him a naive spoiled brat who happened to not be a complete asshole.

Unfortunately, it's Luke's "less-than-pleasant" tendencies that tend to show themselves in the game, first. The game opens as he's living in his father's manor, not really doing anything of note. He's basically a noble who complains about being bored all the time who really likes fighting. It's not really surprising for somebody who was raised surrounded by servants and given anything they'd ever want, it doesn't mean that the character traits are necessarily good, either. His character doesn't change when he's suddenly whisked away either; to call Luke an entitled jerk would be putting it mildly. When him and Tear need to find a way to book it back to the capital, he lets her sell an important necklace without batting an eye. When Ion joins the party and requires frequent breaks to rest, Luke resists and they keep onward. When Mieu joins the party (ostensibly as his pet) his preferred nickname for him is "Thing."

His obnoxious personality aside, there's no denying that he genuinely does care somewhat for people at the beginning of the game. For example, he saves Mieu when the cheagle is attacked by the Liger Queen. While his actions at Akzeriuth are partially motivated by his need to be a hero, it's also partially motivated for his desire to help people. And, of course, even though he's an obnoxious jerk who loves fighting, he absolutely hates killing.

There's also no denying that his hatred for killing is in large part due to naivety, but not in the traditional sense. It's not so much that he's someone for whom belief in the value of life is sacred (in early game, anyway), but rather that something as heavy as killing isn't something wasn't something he'd ever had to think about. As someone who's spent his entire life living in an enclosed bubble, he's lead a somewhat charmed existence. It's no surprise that when his companions start killing other people without (apparent) hesitation, he doesn't take it very well. He finds the idea pretty difficult to deal with, and nearly has a breakdown when he kills a soldier attacking the Tartarus. He has enough trouble that he actually becomes unable to properly fight, and at one point, Tear ends up getting injured protecting him when he freezes in battle.

His naivety doesn't only extend to battle, however. In typical Disney princess spoiled noble fashion, he lacks a certain understanding of how the outside world works. When him and Tear first go to Engeve, he accidentally steals an apple, not understanding that, in the outside world, food is something that you have to pay for. In Akzeriuth, when he first sees people sick and dying, he immediately tells Natalia to back away as they could be dangerous. It's not really a good thing to say, but Luke at the time doesn't really know (or care). Sickness and death weren't really anything that he'd been around, and so when he sees sickness for the first time his immediate reaction is a kind of obnoxious fear. There's no denying that his naivety played a large role in allowing him to be tricked by Master Van, as well.

Of course, his naivety isn't the only reason he was so easily tricked into Akzeriuth. A need for attention and respect played a large part as well. While he'd definitely lived a life of luxury in the manor, where he hadn't ever really wanted for anything, he'd very rarely been treated with respect. His parents and the manor staff had made most of his decisions for him growing up, and even the party doesn't really treat him with respect either (a justified reaction to his personality), and they constantly refuse to answer his questions. A skit between Luke and Tear right before Akzeriuth really hits this point home, as Luke says that Master Van would always explain things if he didn't know them, and was always nice to him. With no one else to take him seriously (except for Guy), it's pretty obvious how he became Master Van's number one fanboy.

With these traits in mind, it's also pretty easy to see how Master Van promising him a place as a hero would make it pretty easy to trick him into destroying the city. His behavior afterwards is reminiscent of his previous personality traits, as well. After everything falls, and the party ends up in the Qliphoth, he almost immediately starts denying responsibility like a small child, saying "It's not my fault! It's not my fault!" and ends up driving the rest of the party away. He gets another big blow to his ego soon afterwards, when he finds out that he actually isn't Luke fon Fabre, but rather a replica of the original Luke fon Fabre, who now goes by Asch the Bloody.

With not only the weight of killing ten thousand people but also not being who he'd always thought he was (or even a real human being for that matter), Luke's character is pretty shaken. After a cursory look at his friends through the eyes of Asch, he receives a pretty loud wakeup call about how much of an ass he's been. At that, he resolves to change, and become a better and more caring person. The change is almost immediately noticeable, as a thank you to Guy prompts the response "Luke said thanks?!"

Of course, not all change is entirely positive, and a good deal of Luke's change after his haircut is negative, albeit in a different direction. While the Luke of the first third of the game was too obnoxious and too self-serving, the Luke in the second third of the game is too self-deprecating and too apologetic. It's a pretty believable reaction for someone who's never really had an opportunity to form a solid sense of self, who'd just been betrayed by one of the people he'd trusted most, and who'd just found out that he might not be an actual person, but his responses are pretty childish nonetheless.

The 'replica' bomb weighs on him for awhile, as he constantly puts himself down or refers to himself as "just a replica." He develops a sort of complex with Asch; he's jealous of Asch for being the original, he feels guilty for stealing Asch's life, he wants Asch's approval, etc. There's no denying that his relationship with Asch is one of, if not the, most important relationships that Luke has with his fellow party members. It's also the most complicated, and is constantly evolving throughout the game.

Needless to say, the aftermath from Akzeriuth still weighs on Luke heavily in the second third, as well. While Luke's change in personality comes with good intentions, there are several times when it almost works against him, especially when combined with his immaturity and inability to see longterm effects. For example, almost immediately after his reformation Luke begins talking about how he'd do anything to fix what had happened, even dying himself, to which Tear almost immediately reprimands him for not considering the weight of his words. Similarly, when the party is traveling with a widow who's husband was killed in Akzeriuth, Luke almost apologizes before Jade stops him, reminding him that the apology would cause more harm than good.

Despite all of this, Luke is still able to fight and defeat Van, although before the battle, it's obvious that there's still a certain need for acceptance, as well as a need to know why he was born. The question's a pretty heavy one, and it ends up weighing on Luke pretty heavily for the month that he's left alone in his manor. Luke's nothing if not a contemplative character (as his journal often signifies), and the time alone almost does more harm than good. While he's somewhat happier and less self-loathing at the end of the month alone than he was immediately after Akzeriuth, he's still preoccupied with the replica dilemma, and Asch, and he still often sees himself as inferior.

None of this becomes more obvious than when he's offered the chance to save many people at the Tower of Rem at the cost of his own life. Despite what he said about giving his life for a chance to make things right, he still hesitates. At the same time, he's still conflicted about the issue over Asch, and keeps insisting that it should be him (as he's the replica), and eventually takes the sword to clear the miasma himself.

This is the true beginning of endgame Luke. Whereas in the first part of the game he was a spoiled brat, and in the second he was nothing but self-deprecating, the Luke post Tower of Rem is one who's...content, if nothing else. The questions that Luke had been asking since the reveals at Akzeriuth (Why was I born?) finally seem to have settled on an answer, and that answer for Luke is that he's simply happy to be alive, even if he knows that he probably won't be alive for very long. It's here that his relationship with Asch sees it's biggest change, whereas he'd always almost relied on Van (and later Asch) for acceptance and acknowledgment, Luke's finally grown to a place where he can stand on his own. When Luke insists that Asch should be the one to free Lorelei, it's no longer because he feels he's inferior, but rather that because, pragmatically, it makes sense for Asch to do it since he's more powerful. Nowhere is his new resolve more apparent than his final standoff with Van, "It doesn't matter if you accept me or not. Here I am. Alive!"

While endgame Luke has finally grown over a need for acceptance and has significantly evolved from his beginning of the game counterpart, there's no denying that many of his traits are still present. Luke certainly looks back on his behavior earlier in the journey and feels embarrassed, but not all of that behavior is gone.

For example, even though he's grown over a lot of his issues with being a jerk to other people, he can still have his moments of being a brat. At the end of the day, he's still someone who was raised with almost everything they ever wanted, and is still prone to complaining, post-change. Additionally, he can get irritated really quickly, especially when teased. A good example is a skit where the party starts teasing him over some cooking that he worked pretty hard on, and he becomes frustrated pretty quickly.

Luke's not only a pretty emotional character, but he's also someone who wears his emotions on his sleeves. He's a pretty easy read for anybody who knows him; at the end of the game, he tries to hide the fact that he's dying from the rest of the party, but almost everyone is able to figure it out immediately anyway.

Even though he's gotten over a good deal of his self-deprecating behavior from the second half of the game, he's still really bothered about Akzeriuth. Jade mentions in a skit that he often wakes up from nightmares, and even if it's not something that he mentions, it's something that still weighs on him.

His relationships with the rest of the party help catalog his change throughout the game; at the beginning of the game, most of the party can hardly stand him, and he can hardly stand most of the party (sans Guy, who he'd grown up with). However, after his personality-changing haircut, his relationship with the party evolves too, and they almost become a family.

Ultimately, it's also important to keep in mind that Luke is kind of still a child. Not necessarily because he's seven years old, but rather because he lived the majority of his life in a very sheltered environment. He goes through a lot through the course of the game, but there's some naivety that's still present even in the end of the game.

    AU Name: Luke Waldorf
    AU Age: 19
    AU Birthday: December 25th

CW: CHILD ABUSE, CHILD ABANDONMENT, CHILD EXPERIMENTATION
AU History: Luke was born the bastard son of Wilder Sr. Both him and his twin brother were born to one of Wilder Senior's many mistresses. When they were still very young (around 5), Wilder senior realized that having so many children around might be problematic (tm), so he handed them off to Krusnik.

Or, at least he tried to. When Krusnik came for them, Luke's brother tried his best to keep them from being taken. This failed, and ended with his brother off the side of a cliff, and Luke squarely in Krusnik's hands.

As it turned out, Luke was exactly the kind of person Krusnik was looking for. He had great destructive power, but it was strong enough that he found it difficult to control. After several years with Krusnik, the higher ups realized that Luke might prove too much of a liability, and so they decided to get rid of him.

Fortunately for Luke, around the same time, a rich couple called the Waldorfs lost their son. They wanted to adopt a child, and Luke happened to fit the criteria (small and red). Krusnik enlisted the help of a former tbo member to wipe Luke's memory before the handoff, and it went extremely poorly. At 7, Luke basically regressed to the state of a toddler.

Still, the Waldorfs were desperate for a child, and they decided to pack up and move, with Luke in tow. Gradually, he began to look and act like a normal kid his age. When he was 8, he was enrolled in public school. It was a peaceful few years until a kidnapping attempt at age 10. Luke was walking home from school when somebody attempted to grab him. Fortunately, a friend of the family was nearby at the time.

Naturally, after everything they went through to get him, the Waldorfs became overprotective. They didn't want to pull Luke from school, but they basically forbade him from going anywhere else. Any time he was somewhere that was not home or school, he was followed by bodyguards.

Luke spent his high school years about the way you'd expect, being the absolute worst being of a teenager anyone could imagine. He was spoiled and he often acted out, but it was often just a ploy for attention as he felt that he was different from his peers. Before anything else, Luke wanted somewhere to belong.

Eventually, he settled on theater. Because practices were often at the school building, his parents relented. Having a group of friends really helped dull his edges, and he managed to graduate high school as a tolerable brat.

Once he graduated, his parents realized it was time for them to loosen their grip a bit. He enrolled at the local university, where he currently lives in the dorms. He's doing absolutely terribly in his classes, and he spends every weekend at home with his family.

AU Personality Differences: The short answer is his personality is the same but much less.

He follows the same general arc of being a brat to being well-intentioned but insufferable. Thankfully, this time Luke was surrounded by people the entire time. The realization that he needed to change didn't come from killing a city of people, it came from people avoiding him because he was the worst. He's still a brat, but it's a lot easier to recover from your friends getting mad at you than it is accidentally destroying a town because the one person you trusted thought you were disposable.

He doesn't carry the same amount of self-loathing, and because he's not faced with the replica dilemma like canon, he never reaches the point of feeling that he's worthless or disposable.

    At least, not yet! :D

    Character Name: Hunter
    Canon: The Owl House
Canon History: CW: lots of murder and brainwashing and really culty horrible treatment of a minor: here!

    Canon Personality:
    Smart yet Naïve
Hunter is a prodigy, he's incredibly adept at the things he does and has put countless hours of training and study into being the best witch he's capable of being, despite his lack of personal magical abilities. He's described as a "teen genius" and is given a lot of authority and power despite his young age. However, that smartness doesn't come with wisdom. Hunter has been extremely sheltered throughout his life, so he doesn't have many experiences outside of the Emperor's Coven, leading him to be very easily deceived both by strangers and those he thinks are on his side.

    Eager to Please
A part of how he was raised, Hunter is very desperate to prove his worth to people he identifies as being in a position of power over him. He'll do anything to earn their respect, no matter how foolish or dangerous it may be. In fact, nothing means more to him than pleasing the people in charge of him, to the point where he can and will betray people trying to be his friend in order to do so.

    Snarky
Maybe it's the fact that the boy is smart, or maybe it's the lingering traces of Caleb within him, but Hunter is a barrel full of sass with very little filter. He won't hesitate to make faces, jokes, or just outright belittle people around him, especially if those people are his enemies. If anything, his default state is sass, even in situations where sass will just make things worse for him.

    Confident yet Insecure
Two things that are seemingly complete opposites, and yet Hunter manages to embody both of these traits at nearly the same time. This boy is oozing with confidence. He isn't afraid to strike poses, dress up ridiculously, or do things that society deems "strange", if just because he doesn't know any better. Hunter is the kind of person that will stride out in front of a legion of Emperor's Coven members wearing a tutu and squawking like a bird and won't expect anything other than absolute obedience. And yet, despite that bravado and performative streak, when it comes down to the things that really matter, Hunter... isn't exactly someone who thinks very much of himself. He's constantly looking for reassurance from his "superiors" and second guesses his own actions and opinions, especially when they start to conflict with what he's always been told is right.

    Loyal and Kind
Weird, with how much of a little shit who betrays friends for a gold star that Hunter can be described as loyal or kind, and yet... here we are. This boy has a lot of issues, but in the end, all of them stem from loyalty. It took a lot for Hunter's loyalty to Belos to be broken, despite all the times the Emperor lashed out at him and outright lied to him, it took going into his mind and seeing the truth of Hunter's own existence for him to finally turn to the people who had been trying to befriend him and open his eyes. And from there, that loyalty went unmatched and untested, with Hunter so immediately turning against long time friends and coworkers, even though it hurt him to do so. However, even under that loyalty, absolutely nothing could fully temper Hunter's kindness. At his core, Hunter is a gentle guy who likes animals, sewing, and learning as much as he can. Even under Belos' order to hand over all palismen in order to feed off their energy, Hunter kept the one that found and befriended him secret, and even when he was facing off against the Owl House group as their enemy, he could never do lasting harm to them, always letting them go when things started getting actually dangerous.

    AU Name: Caleb "Hunter" Wittebane
    AU Age: 21
    AU Birthday: June 12
    Faction: Black Order

AU History: cw: Just Krusnik Things™, cults, abuse, attempted murder of a teenager, brainwashing

Hunter's history doesn't really start with him. Instead, it starts a good few hundred years or so ago with two brothers, Caleb and Philip. Caleb and Philip were avid witch hunters, back in their day, until Caleb found a hot girlfriend and Philip, driven by jealousy and rage, stabbed his brother in the back instead of going to Ye Olde Therapy about it. From then, Hunter has been caught in a cycle of reincarnation, with Philip finding him in nearly every cycle, trying to brainwash him into being a perfect, loyal brother to him again, and eventually killing him whenever Caleb's loyalty starts to waver.

Which... is where Hunter comes in. He was born to two unknown parents in a completely unknown place, given a name he'll never know or be able to track down, because almost as soon as he was born, Philip found him and... took him. From then on, Hunter was raised as Philip's nephew within the organizational structure of Krusnik. He was raised thinking that a child's abilities and memories manifesting and going out of control killed his and Philip's family, and that what Krusnik was doing was necessary to protect the kids taken from themselves, as well as to protect the world from them. He was told that what they were doing was for the greater good, even if some didn't see it that way. And as a child himself with a desperate need to please the otherwise frigid and distant Philip, Hunter did everything he could to support Krusnik, even going so far as to try to convince some of the kids within the system that Krusnik were the good guys, that they'll be okay, now. That they're all part of a bigger, better plan for the future.

The sad thing is... Hunter honestly believed this. And with his time spent around people other than Philip being limited more and more as he got older and started seeing the cracks in the careful brainwashing, he wasn't given much reason to doubt what Philip was preaching.

At least... until the Krusnik raid of 2015. Hunter himself wasn't at that particular raid, though he did handle the aftermath, did know of the kids who were sent into the spirit realm, the Krusnik members who were killed in the process. Belos assured him that it was safe, it was fine, that all he needed to do was keep working and not worry about it, that this was an oversight, a consequence of powers, the reason why Krusnik needed to keep taking and regulating other children, even in the face of this danger. And, reluctantly, Hunter... agreed. As much as he felt something uncomfortable twisting in his gut, he kept following his uncle over the next few years.

Only, he'd begun to think. Begun to really look at things around him. He began to see the misery of the kids they'd taken, the single-mindedness with which Philip worked. And worse, he began to develop abilities, himself. Nearly overnight, his hair went from dusty blond to nearly pure white, his eyes shifted from brown to violet, and worst of all... he began understanding what the birds outside were singing about. For the next few years, Hunter dyed his hair, wore colored contacts, and did his best to shoo birds away from his windowsill. But with Philip seeing Hunter's attention beginning to wander, Hunter found that more often than not, he was being kept isolated in his room, only let out if he was covered head to toe and wearing a mask, working as a "Golden Guard" instead of as Hunter. More and more, Hunter found that the only people he had to talk to were the birds in the branches near his window.

For four years, Hunter lived in growing isolation, still loyal to Philip, but with wandering attention he hadn't had before the raids in 2015. In 2019, after four years of near constant isolation, Hunter finally messed up. He'd been out with Philip, watching his back during an acquisition of another child for Krusnik when he'd stopped, looking up and seeing some birds flying overhead. Without thinking, he said the first thing that came to his mind- "That looks like it'd be fun."

A simple statement, and yet it was one that had Philip flying off the handle. Had him taking one look at his distracted "nephew" and the birds he was staring at before rage and frustration gripped him, sending him surging forward and striking with intent to kill Hunter right then and there. Thankfully for Hunter, the abilities he'd been keeping secret worked to save his life, leaving him wounded but able to dodge a killing blow. And as he lay there, confused and scare and trying to ask his uncle why he was striking out at him, a new group came sweeping in. The Black Order pushed Philip back into retreating and got to treating Hunter's wound, taking him back to their headquarters to rest and recover. After finding out that a very confused and upset Hunter did indeed have abilities and also was now without anywhere else to go, the Order brought him in. It was here that Hunter started going by the name that had been tickling the back of his mind since he was younger, hanging up the name that Philip had given him as a baby, Caleb Wittebane, in favor of a nickname. In favor of the name echoing up from memories that are just starting to spark.

It was there, within the Order, that Hunter moved from one extreme to another, falling into the zealots of the Order and working tirelessly over the next few years in order to try to rise within their ranks, to please them. To show that he was a good worker, that he could be trusted. Only... even with knowing that Philip tried to kill him, hearing about his downfall in Kaisou in 2023 shook Hunter, had him withdraw, had him walking a little uneasy within the Order's halls. In the end, this was a good thing, because when the order fell in 2024 and the zealots were cleared out, Hunter wasn't among them. Anyone in the Order knew that the boy had his issues, that his mindset was very, very easily influenced, but for someone practically born into Krusnik and raised with conditioning shoved down his throat and no blood directly on his hands... well, Hunter himself managed to avoid being punished alongside the zealots.

Under the new management, however, Hunter found himself reassigned and relocated to the very place where his uncle fell. Apparently the higher ups figured that Kaisou would be the best place for Hunter to figure out the rest of his life.

AU Personality Differences: There's not too much of a difference between Kaisou and canon Hunter other that in canon, Hunter has an established support group, but in Kaisou he's going to be coming into rehabilitation completely alone. He doesn't have friends, doesn't have a mentor, he just has a boatload of problems and is very easily influenced because of them.

    Character Name: Asch
    Canon: Tales of the Abyss
Canon History: Asch on Aselia Wiki

    Canon Personality:
Idealist. Beneath the chilly soldier lies a boy who is, in his own way, trying to save the world. He goes to impossible lengths to stop the scheme his own mentor is planning. However, Asch is not a magnificent bastard and fails every time-- mostly because he's by himself. This doesn't deter him at all. He spent most of his life doing things by himself, so he prefers to work in small teams over big ones if he has to ask for help. Still, he can be a good leader, which draws the attention and admiration of many, but he doesn't speak of his own agenda and has trouble communicating.

Leader. That isn't to say that Asch doesn't know how to pull strings or play with others; he uses a band of thieves wanted across the world to do his bidding, which is not as bad as it seems-- it’s good deeds, mostly, and they help him out when he seems to be having trouble because he’s charismatic. Or pays well. Perhaps both. It’s pretty obvious that the people Asch travels with stay because they believe in the same thing he does, struggle with the injustice of the Score and want to do their part to save Auldrant.

Serious and fatalistic. Asch might be young but that doesn't mean he goofs off. On the contrary, he takes his duties very seriously and considers what happens to Auldrant his personal responsibility. Though his dedication to his task makes him seem aloof, caustic, and sometimes vicious toward those around him, Asch loves his country and the world and cares deeply for people as a whole. He may be cool much of the time, but that doesn’t mean he’s blinded to the world or completely incapable of emotion, he just doesn’t know how to express it. When confronted with the fate of the world, Asch will even give his own life, though only as a necessary last resort.

Noble-minded. Asch was raised from a young age to be a perfect noble’s son. His father taught him to consider all courses of action with a calm eye and rule with a steady hand, and in his time with Natalia he taught her to value people’s lives more than land or politics. Together they made a promise to make the world better, the only thing from his past life that he carries with him seven years later.

Distant and bitter. Asch’s death was prophesied in the Score and given to his parents when he was born. Because of this, his father was afraid to love him and raised him with the same cool detachment Asch displays now. It doesn’t help that Asch’s own teacher and family friend kidnapped him and tortured him mercilessly when he was only ten years old. Being betrayed and rejected by the people he loved was only half of the insult, however. With a replica forcing Asch out of house and home, he had to return to the man who ruined his life and continue to train under him for years, knowing full well that he was only being used for his devastating powers. This is how he developed two faces-- one to show Van that he was capable, cruel, and completely obedient, and a second devoted to unraveling his teacher’s plans, whatever they would become.

Hot-tempered. Despite his attempts to be stoic, Asch tends to let his emotions get the better of him where Luke is involved. His first few appearances hit hard and fast as he fights Luke against the orders of his superiors. In that manner, he can get sidetracked by his replica pretty easily, either because he’s trying to prevent Luke from making mistakes or he’s cleaning up after them. So, while Luke eventually tames his tsundere side, Asch keeps his berserk button activated constantly, making him twice as unpredictable and fierce as the Luke that first set out from Baticul. He’s memorable for berating Luke for existing, calling him everything from idiot to the more creative dreck-- basically, trash. The whole time. But it’s done in the same breath as more positive things like "think for yourself" or "you shouldn’t talk about yourself like that". Which is confusing as hell, but that’s Asch feeling the exact same inferiority complex and reacting. He really does care about Luke and what happens to him, and that’s part of why he’s so hard on his replicated self, but a large portion of it is Asch’s own issues and his annoyance at seeing someone connected to him being so goddamned stupid.

Low self-esteem. For all the pride he displays while berating Luke for his lack thereof, Asch has some real identity issues, and his weakness haunts him in his dreams. While Luke fights to prove that he has his own memories and friends and is therefore his own person, Asch struggles with being expendable (a terminal illness only exacerbates it) and how to see himself without his copy in the same picture. Luke was able to change and do all sorts of amazing things because of it, but Asch sees himself as incredibly pathetic, and that’s why he lost everything.

Selfless. While he despises people who can’t seem to think for themselves, he works constantly behind the scenes to ensure Luke’s success... to the exclusion of his own health. After he survives the events at Akzeriuth, he realizes that the Score can be changed, and slowly, he can change himself-- maybe even have a chance to save something from breaking. His fate is still to die, but he gives his life for the world, and to see his replica's success.

    AU Name: Asch Fabre
    AU Age: 19
    AU Birthday: December 25th
    Faction: Black Order

    AU History:
❥ Asch was born the twin brother to Luke, half-brother of Belle and Zelos because Wilder Sr. is a piece of shit. Asch was born first, not that it matters.
❥ When they're 5ish, Wilder Sr. decides he wants to take care of some loose ends a.k.a. the bastard sons who look just like him. Bio mom loves her kids and doesn't suspect anything.
❥ While on a day trip to the countryside, Krusnik agents remove mom from the equation.
❥ Asch tries to protect his brother and ends up getting thrown down a ravine and drowns in a river. His body washes up somewhere.
❥ Luke gets taken into custody by Krusnik and goes through a few years of hell.
❥ Nephrite (Jade), who was probably tracking down Krusnik guys for TBO, stumbles on a dead kindergartener and revives him. Which is good because Asch told the nice spirit who wanted to help him live... to get lost. Oops.
❥ Asch takes everything way too seriously as per usual, and grows attached to his new weird bespectacled guardian. He doesn't call him 'dad' not because he doesn't feel it, but because he's worried it would freak Jade out. They're so good at communicating, you guys.
❥ Asch takes after him in many respects, not only learning the spear but also the sword! Also he's a big nerd who reads lots of books.
❥ He is sort of quiet leverage for TBO but Nephrite still cautions him not to say anything about the dreams he's been having.
❥ Naturally this can't go on forever, especially when his canon abilities manifest. Asch joins TBO to support Nephrite when he's sixteen and trains hard enough to make a name for himself, not wanting to be a burden.
❥ At some point recently, Nephrite helps Asch track down his family via DNA testing. Asch is unable to keep his distance and has a very awkward and brief encounter with Luke, but thankfully isn't recognized. He is also aware of Zelos, Belle, and their business in Kaisou later on.
❥ He knows about the existence of his other relatives but doesn't feel like that's his life anymore, if it ever was in the first place. So he says nothing. Great job, dude.
❥ Asch minded his own fucking business when the rebellion happened, keeping his head down and watching over Luke from a generous distance.
❥ Now he's come out of the woodwork because Kaisou is clearly getting Worse and maybe he can do something about it.

    AU Personality Differences:

Due to being raised by a Tales character, Asch is a touch more nerdy and often chooses the company of books—though he still has a terrible temper. He's also fluent in using a sword as well as a spear, and has a good understanding of magic as it works in Kaisou. He also has slightly more manners, but he still retains that terrible habit of storming off instead of arguing endlessly, because he hates people seeing him flustered.

He also has a deadpan and terribly sarcastic sense of humor, but unlike Jade, he doesn't smile while joking around. His resting bitch face is the stuff of legends.

Thunder Blade. A higher elemental spell that summons a giant sword made of lightning (wind element) to destroy enemies in a large circle. (4 pts)
Hyperresonance - Extreme. A canon power. Normally used to vaporize entire structures but with the lack of Seventh Fonon in our world, it's more on par with the combustion powerset under Fire. The highest level allows Asch to explode/collapse a small building with what is basically sound waves. (8 pts)

    Character Name: Viktor
    Canon: Arcane: League of Legends
Canon History: wiki link, with his intial canonpoint being s1e7--after his prognosis, but before taking Shimmer.
    Canon Abilities: n/a. for now.

Canon Personality: On sight, Viktor looks unwell, gaunt and pale with a crutch at his side and a brace on his leg; one might assume him fragile, though the reality is anything but. Viktor has a sharp intellect and sharper tongue, fully willing and able to stand up for himself with a tranquil but furious temper when necessary. At first he might come off as cold or unfriendly, but getting to know him would reveal that he's more just utterly lacking in social skills and hardened by a lifetime of ableism and classism directed at him. Although his words tend to be as sharp as his intellect, beneath a seemingly cold demeanor is an incredibly kind and caring individual. From the outset, Viktor's involvement in his and Jayce's research is explicitly with the purpose of helping the disenfranchised Undercity. Though not outright stated, it's clear what Viktor truly wanted from the endeavor was for no one else to live the way he has for as short a time as he initially expected to.

It would be easy on sight to assume Viktor weak or frail due to his illness; while that much is true to a limited extent, he is still fully independent and capable, as well as driven to dispel exactly those kinds of assumptions while intently searching for a cure. Additionally, he can easily be regarded as unremarkable or even unassuming compared to other scholars and scientists--but the reality is that he is so brilliant it borders on (and occasionally crosses into) dangerous. Well aware of his abilties and extremely prideful of them, he's an academic force to be reckoned with given the opportunity. His ambitious nature reflects this, as he's often willing to take crazy and occasionally dangerous risks in order to accomplish what he thinks is the best way to improve the world--or to save himself. As Viktor himself says early on, coming to Piltover he had essentially nothing and no one as support, simply believing in himself. With that alone he was able to become the assistant to the dean of the Academy/head of the city's council, a high ranking position in its own right. Even then he insists it was not his life's ambition to be an assistant, and despite considerable risk he convinces Jayce almost immediately upon the pair meeting that they should follow through on dangerous research for the sake of a chance it might improve the world. This quality persists through the rest of the series, to varying effects; tying in to Viktor's stubbornness, he refuses to concede any ground on his principles whether those should be 'our research is not meant for weaponry' or 'remove emotions from humankind'. Which, as you can imagine, kind of complicates a lot of things.

Viktor is an imperfect perfectionist, desperate to cure the things he sees as flaws and weaknesses in himself as well as others. His stubbornness often blinds him to the fact that even while being in poor health, he is a person with intrinsic value regardless of his physical condition. Carrying a loathing of his ailing body and a powerful fear of his own mortality, he is driven well past the point of self-destruction to make some kind of difference to a world he knows he won't be in for long. Pride in his intellect and stubborn refusal to change his ways of thinking are both Viktor's assets and downfall; leading him to hold steadfast to his need to improve the lives of others, but also completely blinding him to the slippery slope of what the cost of that progress is as well as what defines 'weaknesses' needing to be 'cured'.

AU Name: The same, but when he legally requires a last name he uses 'Viktor Reveck'.
AU Age: 38 (34 at canonpoint, plus years in Kaisou)
    AU Birthday: December 29th

AU History: Having come to Kaisou with the first handful of isekais around 2021, unlike the others Viktor had no realistic choice but to join up with Zodiac. His prognosis already bleak, he was in a hurry to get back to Runeterra or at least to find a way to buy himself more time. While the former was at one point attempted (and naturally, failed) in an unfinished metal monstrosity built in his basement, the latter proved much more viable; between Zodiac's health insurance and whatever questionable medicine Baizhu's pharmacy was capable of producing, he was relatively stabilized--against all of his expectations.

Choosing to subscribe to the theory of time discrepancies between universes lest he go insane, Viktor eventually calmed down about getting the hell home as quickly as possible and instead settled into a routine with Zodiac; learning a new world's technology and how to maintain as well as develop it. Despite a mountain of culture shock including but not limited to the concept of electricity being foreign to his steampunk-adjacent homeworld, he adapted incredibly quickly and essentially became the token 'quietly efficient cryptid coworker'. ...except for several incidents during Varian's internship that quickly got out of hand and were only mentioned in hushed terrified whispers around the Zodiac offices after the two were quickly reassigned to literally anything that would keep them a safe distance apart.

As far as a personal life, if Viktor has one he rarely if ever speaks about it; while he often talks with Varian and is more than happy to DM for Harumasa's campaign group, the general shape of what he actually does outside of work with both Zodiac and the university is a big Chandleresque question mark. He hates talking about his home and the people in it because he is constantly incredibly homesick--well, more that he misses a person rather than a place. Either way, he doesn't like to think about it. Most people he knows don't even realize he's actually an isekai--in his defense, they've probably never asked.

AU Personality Differences: Minimal, honestly. Viktor's stabilized condition makes him a little less frantic by nature--still a workaholic, but a calmer one not acting like one on literal borrowed time. While already a reasonably kind person, he's a little easier to get along with than in canon; less reticent and much more comfortable around people in general.

...he is also painfully lonely, but that's being half of runeterra's most codependent duo for you.

    Character Name: Kan MaoMao
    Canon: Apothecary Diaries
    Canon History: MaoMao Wiki
Canon Point: During her tenure working at the Inner Court, as a Lady in Waiting/Assistant to Jinshi.
Age: 18, she’s 17 in the series but I’d rather her be 18.
    Birthday: June 1st
Canon Abilities: She doesn’t have any special powers other than being stupid smart. She is able to deduce three or four probabilities from just a few facts. She’s a trained Apothocary and an Apprentice Physician *shhh, it is still illegal for a girl to be a doctor so no tell or she lose head* She can make medicine and salves from regular ingredients or herbs she finds around the area. She has Poison resistance from testing so many of them on herself that she became immune to most of them. Her perception abilities are second only to her adoptive father. He’s taught her just about everything he knows about Pharmacy and Doctoring, however she’s forbidden from touching corpses as he’s afraid of what she’ll do with the bodies since they can be used to make medicine.

Canon Personality: She’s incredibly pragmatic, she knows what her life is worth and as a lowborn individual it’s not worth much. She has such an intense curiosity she tends to get herself into situations that she should not be in because her sense of justice and curiosity lead her into trouble or to solve problems she knows she can solve. She grew up in the red light district and knows full well what people are capable of, either women who want to get something from someone or a man who wants something from a woman. Growing up in the district she learned to make herself less pretty by adding freckles to her face with dried clay, that way she’d attract less notice from everyone.
She has a habit of refusing to or forcing herself to not notice the life of those around her. She doesn’t like to get involved yet somehow she is always dragged in. She has few friends, most of them other lowborn girls in the inner court, and those of the brothel she grew up in. Those from the brothel she would consider sisters more than friends, but that is mostly because they raised her while her father was working.
She would love to be left alone and make medicine and poisons, but life tends to not let her do that. She loves her job as a taster for the Concubine she works for, because she gets to eat poison and it tastes amazing to her. The other ladies in waiting see her as a poor and innocent girl who needs protecting, not realizing that she loves it. Her keen intellect and abilities are what led Jinshi to notice her as the Inner Court manager, she tries to avoid him and can't see that he is falling in love with her. She sees him as a pretty eunuch who spends too much time around her.

Time of Arrival to Kaisou: There’s a point in the story where she’s investigating a ‘curse’ on the late Emperor, she could somehow have gotten taken to Kaisou during the course of her investigation.
Items: She’s only arriving with the clothes on her back, she doesn’t own anything.

Canon History: it’s fairly empty but also CW for unethical medical experiments, child experimentation, child/human pets, child neglect, abandonment, and endangerment, children trained for murder roulette featuring catchy kpop, assisted suicide, murder

    To expand a little

    • Humanity lost the war against The Aliens. In this loss, Humanity was enslaved and made to be pets of aliens because humans had one thing aliens didn’t, singing. Yeah, apparently alien vocal cords don’t allow them to sing. That’s where the genetic experimentation to make the perfect idol comes in.

    • Ivan was born in the slums, where human children were treated terribly by the aliens. He was eventually auctioned off due to his value and was taken by a very wealthy businessman as a Valentine's Day gift for his wife.

    • Unlike most human pets, Ivan was allowed freedoms others weren’t, like rarely being seen wearing his collar. His relationship with his guardians were more of a business partners situation than one of a pet and owner or parent and child. In this respect, Ivan was given anything he could ever want by his guardian, in exchange for his work at becoming a top idol.

    • Due to spending his early years alone and without love, his emotional growth was stunted, and he spent much of his time alone as the silent child until he met and grew an attachment to Till.

    • Till scorned one of his earlier advances, and Ivan was low-key hurt and traumatized by the lack of returned interest. This started a rocky relationship between the two, but over all, Ivan put a lot of effort into being liked by most others and teaching himself how to ‘act’ and ‘smile’ in order to make others more comfortable around him. Except for Till.

    • Once he became friends with Till, Till became the cursed center of his world, but he never treated him as such because of the awkward way their relationship worked. The love-hate push and pull of their friendship was everything to Ivan, but Till’s feelings and attention were with another, and thus didn’t realize his importance to Ivan.

    • Once The Alien Stage Competition came up, he spent most of his efforts on helping and watching Till. This culminated in Round Six ending his death. Ivan gave his life to see Till live through their match against one another, believing that Till didn’t care about him, so it shouldn’t hurt Till to win.

Canon Abilities: Other than being genetically experimented on and tortured to be the perfect kpop idol, none.

    Canon Personality:

Ivan is seen as the warm, smiling prince by the people who can only see the facade he shows. He learned early in his life that the cold, depressed, blank expression he naturally has wasn’t wanted by others. In order to survive and grow in the hell he was raised in, he learned quickly that the way toward peace was doing whatever was expected of him. To this end, he spent time learning to smile, laugh, and tutor the other children around him that also needed help. In front of the camera’s and aliens, he always put up the perfect exterior, giving the perfect answers, and conducting him in the way expected of him as a rising star in his field.

When he’s away from everyone else, very few have experienced the true, cold, unfeeling person he truly is. Emotions confuse him and are complete mysteries to him. Despite his job being to write and sing songs full of feelings, he finds it difficult to express his own in a way that makes sense. This results in a lot of misunderstandings with Till, and non-answers whenever he’s asked something a little too personal.

He’s best friends with the protagonist and implies that he feels their fourth friend is like a sister to him. The group of the four of them are all fairly close, but the only who sees him for what he really is happens to be The Sister friend. Everyone else perceives him to be their friend and close confidant, while she knows that he doesn’t consider any of them as anything to him.

His time in the slums is what taught him how to focus on what would assure his survival, but he can also be fairly impulsive. He will always choose the more palatable choice despite his own personal feelings unless something else pushes him to do something rash and impulsive. Ivan, however, loves the thrill of being forced to feel something new and real, even if that’s the thrill of being in a fight with someone and experiencing true pain. He may, in fact, find starting the fight easier than talking about feelings and bait it that way instead.

As an adult, Ivan became famous for his commercials and modeling contracts, even becoming the first human to accepted as a brand ambassador for an exclusive and expensive brand. There were even whispers that perhaps his talents would be enough to win Alien Stage and Dethrone the previous winner and Ruler of the Stage. His intelligence and skills coming out of The Garden were top-notch for someone who did not receive the heavy treatments. Everything he accomplished was through his own hardwork.

Ivan did not actually care the context he had trained his whole life for because Till existed and beating Luka to live through the competition didn't matter if it meant he'd kill Till for it. He spends most of his time thinking about Till or singing about Till. He criticized Sister Friend for wanting to die for her girlfriend, calling her a hypocrite, and then turned around and did the same thing. He’s not okay. Ivan let his love for Till consume and end his life without ever telling the man once that the feelings existed. Yet, when asked about his relationship with Till, he merely answers that he thinks they aren’t even friends. Till, on the other hand, is under the impression they’re best friends. Ivan is the King of Yearning, but not even in the same area code as ‘admitting his feelings’.

AU Name: Ivan von Musel Klossowski de Rolo, Just goes by Ivan
    AU Age: 22
    AU Birthday: February 14th
    Faction: The Black Order

AU History: Born to a prestigious family with wealth beyond his imagination, Ivan spent most of his time studying and learning what he could. Being so far down the family line, he knew he would have to make his own way eventually. Yet, due to his age, he didn’t get far enough to truly debate his future or what his motivations were before disaster struck.

Ivan doesn’t know much about the night their parent’s died. He heard Percy storm out of the house, watching him from his window as he fled. He did not hear the intruders when they came in, but he could not miss the uproar that followed afterward. Screams, cries, pleas, and loud, hurried footsteps as Jill tried to protect him and their younger siblings. There was nothing he could do by to try to escape and muster what he could to be the responsible one, but when Jill left them to confront the order, the memories of his own past slowly began to bubble up into the back of his mind. They were not free for long before The Black Order apprehended him and the remaining siblings, marking that as the final time he saw any of his remaining family.

Once in the hand of The Order, Ivan kept his memories a secret, the knowledge of a life where humans were subjected to Alien Control fueling him to remain silent and submit to working for them. From that point Ivan closed up, becoming the quiet, cold, solitary child that most encountered. In his childhood, there was one night he slipped out, making it a good part of the way to an escape before he himself stopped and turned around to return to his room without explanation. To this day, he has never explained what propelled him to leave and what possessed him to return.

Following that, he worked on being more ‘approachable’, smiling and talking to others in a way he didn’t formerly bother with, while still mostly being found on his own. Ivan spent the rest of his time working for the order, growing his shadow powers, until he was assigned to what could only be explained as the middle of no where Ivan sincerely doubted that he made waves in one way or another enough for something like a punishment. It's not in his natural to fuss about assignments, so he goes without complaint, unaware of what awaits him.

AU Personality Differences: Take all of that love that he was consumed with, half it, and store it in ‘kinda pissed at Percy for what went down when they were kids’. Other than that, he’s pretty much the same.

    Canon Personality:
  • Loyal: Lyney is, above all else, incredibly loyal and protective of his family and friends. Some might argue this is actually to "Greek hero fatal flaw levels," but Lyney would insist it's not. Anyone would try to get a highly dangerous magical weapon to protect his sister. Anyone.

  • Secretive: Lyney keeps way too many secrets and loathes even considering sharing them. This nearly gets him executed in canon and severely damages his friendship with the Traveler, though they are able to work that out at least.

  • Cheerful: Between his siblings, Lyney is the more outwardly cheerful and social one. However...

  • Always On: Lyney himself admits that his sociable persona is just that, a persona, and that he really isn't nearly as chatty as he presents himself. This is very much a self-defense mechanism, as he tries very hard not to give people any reason to pity him.

  • Clingy: Lyney's clingy. There's not much else to say about that, he is just very attached to his family and does not like being unwillingly separated from them.

  • AU Name: Lynn Eisner
    AU Age: 25
    AU Birthday: February 2

AU History: Lynn Eisner lost his parents when he was about two years old and was then taken in by his uncle and his wife. Lynn grew up with his cousin Bailey being more like a sister, and for several years things were perfectly fine.

And then the wreck happened. Lynn wasn't unharmed, but he somehow managed to escape with nothing worse than a broken leg, a concussion, and some bruises. His uncle and aunt, however, weren't so lucky...and Bailey almost wasn't. Lynn wasn't sure what happened that day, but he remembers insisting that he be allowed to stay as close to Bailey as possible and having nightmares when he couldn't see her. The nightmares--and Bailey's subsequent miraculous recovery, thanks to her possessor--were like a lightning bolt for the young boy, and he started to remember his past life in Teyvat.

When Bailey went to live with her maternal uncle, Lynn was allowed to go with her and he settled into his new life in Kaisou pretty easily. He was always a friendly, cheerful boy and though the wreck had put a bit of a damper on that, he was still able to be more or less himself. He easily stepped into the role of "translate my cousin's RBF for people", being reminded of his twin and brother from Teyvat, and was terribly over-protective of Bailey until they graduated. At that point, Bailey went on to higher education and Lynn...decided to turn to YouTube. His memories of being a world class magician had been coming back for years, after all, and he was in the age of the internet.

Lynn E, the Great Magician, took off after just a few videos. No one could figure out how he did some of his tricks (though he happily would record himself explaining the simpler ones, eager to spread the love of magic tricks) and that combined with his amazing stage presence just brought the views in. This continued when, a couple of years later, he started vtubing under the handle RedRedRosseland the Amazing Magical Cat(boy). He's never hidden his two personas, though he is very honestly impressed how many people don't seem to know he has two.

Lynn, now largely going by Lyney, stayed in Kaisou for a few years after graduating, but left early in 2024 for his first tour as Lynn E (and Rosseland, at some cons). He returned in October, settling back into a more stationary life once again (and picking up an internship at the Jackdaw, because Bailey told him about their boss just not picking up when an intern was supernatural and Lyney is nothing if not eager for a new bit).

AU Personality Differences: The biggest difference is Lynn is way less likely to put himself at major risk for his family like Lyney was. He still would, of course, but he would think twice or even three times before trying to take a very dangerous will-age-you-rapidly-and-then-kill-you device just to protect his family. We're not at "overprotective to fatal flaw" levels here.

He also doesn't hide as much from people as his past life did, and his cheerful persona is much more real, though he still would consider himself more withdrawn and quiet than he tends to be on camera.

    Canon: Kingdom Hearts
Canon Point: Post Kingdom Hearts 3
    Age: 18
    Birthday: March 28th
    History: Here

    Personality:

optimistic - despite his rough, early beginnings ventus has a pretty cheery demeanor. It's easy for him to see the brighter side of things and hold hope for them when current situations may seem difficult or hard. While this bright disposition isn't an absolute constant part of his outward personality, he does make an effort to keep himself and those around him in high hopes. Ventus believes the best in others, especially of those he cares about deeply, very closely to a point of stubborn refusal to believe otherwise. This is evident with his relationship with terra, when ven is trying to find his friend and along the way finds himself being told stories that vary wildly from his own ideas of what his friend, terra is capable of.

friendly - ventus starts out his journey not only with finding terra on his mind, but also to make new friends along the way. Ventus is exceptionally easy to get along with and his eagerness to meet new people and create friendly connections with them is something he actively seeks out and enjoys. Through all of the worlds he traveled to ventus always came away with at least one or two new friends and a growing understanding of the issues or problems that they currently faced.

empathetic - ventus wears his heart on his sleeve, a trait of his that has gotten him hurt numerous times in the past. His fear and hesitation to hurt others, a soft kindheartedness, is what essentially triggered the creation of his darker half – vanitas – and broke his own heart in the process. It's difficult for him not to relate emotionally with others, even those he may have only just met recently. Ventus is someone who is eager to help others and be a friend if they are in need of such, even if it hurts him in the process. He has a self-sacrificing streak in him that goes along with this trait, having been ready to face his own death or destruction if it meant a secured safety for the ones he cares about.

naive - usually going hand in hand with his optimistic traits, ventus starts out almost completely naive to how the world works around him. After having lost his memory and then being torn in two by master xehanort ventus lived the first few years of his life in the land of departure in a kind of young, innocent state of mind. Essentially relearning how to be a complete person again inside of the bubble that was land of departure with only master eraqus, terra, and aqua there to guide him left him more or less blind to a world far less pure and bright than he was used to. Through the course of his adventure ventus begins to mature, understanding the differences between his own shortcomings and naivety and how his own ignorance affects others, attempting to make amends to fix these mistakes.

stubborn - while ventus may be a pretty cheerful and warmhearted kind of person, he has his own less than positive moments. While easily a pushover at times, there are others where he absolutely refuses to deal with being harassed or ordered around with moments of snapping back or saying things that are blunt and even a little mean.

rash - ventus is a great many things, especially when it concerns his friends or people he cares deeply about and while he has moments of clarity and thoughtfulness there are certainly more times where ventus has acted out in the exact opposite way. Being someone who is sensitive to his own emotions there are at times when ventus reacts in reckless manner. When terra had left the land of departures ventus had followed after him without even considering consulting with eraqus or even aqua before hand, too caught up in his own reactive emotions to terra’s sudden departure. Ventus can say one thing and be extremely stubborn in upholding his views on that, but immediately go against his own words in a heartbeat. When he first encountered vanitas he had blatantly refused to fight him, especially when he knew what would happen if they did so. Yet when vanitas attacked aqua, someone ventus cared deeply about, he abandoned that earlier declaration and rushed to face down vanitas in aqua’s defense.

    Canon History: Here!

Canon Personality: - Charismatic. Lighter holds his title as the Sons of Calydon’s champion and the Red Scarf proudly but even without that he just has magnetic energy. He’s got a passion for any challenge, he’s got good looks, he never belittles anyone who is coming at him with a genuine attempt and helps his opponents up after they fall, giving them improvement advice and welcoming another challenge down the line. He’s just got rizz, as the kids (and Belle) say.

    - Confident. He’ll take any challenge on, small or large, but go in to win and is very aware of his status as the Undefeated Champion. He mentions it idly several times, though it’s not a core part of his personality it IS his entire image. And he has used this to receive better payment for jobs because the man knows his worth in this sense. He’ll take anything that gets him money. He’s got the thug energy that comes with being in a biker gang and formerly a mercenary band.

    - Forgetful. This man’s short and medium term memory is an absolute mess. He’s so bad with names and faces and likely with scheduling. He isn’t ever late probably because as soon as he’s told hey we’re gonna do this thing he goes to it immediately and waits for three hours. He certainly isn’t the sharpest knife in the drawer sometimes but if told that he would tell you "Haha, well at least I can punch and don’t need knives".

    - Prone to shyness. He told the Proxy he is not shy. Which is what a shy person would say. Lighter has his moments of social awkwardness where he forgets or doesn’t particularly know what to say. He knows his Champion-ness only goes so far and the cool sunglasses only cool so much but he is the sort to avoid eye contact.

    - Guilt-ridden. Lighter fully blames himself for the accident that killed his old Mercenary group. He was reluctant for a while to feel anything close with anyone, though in the ring he was placed in that wasn’t necessary. He said himself he was like a Zombie in the ring, afraid of looking his opponents in the eyes and seeing himself in them, this man with his spirit broken and not an ounce of what compassion he used to have. Maybe even the dead eyes that would remind him of his old team. He dwells on this a lot, when an aspect of his past appears he freezes and his charisma halts. He goes through short periods of disassociation that he forces himself out of with a task to do or a conversation with the proxy. It’s classic survivor’s guilt.

    - Altruistic. Lighter is a man who blames himself for the fall and death of the other three people in his old group. He took responsibility and took on massive loans just so the families of the deceased could take care of what they needed to because that needed to be done. He tried to pay it off normally, but inevitably he was brought to the fighting ring to pay the loans off by debt collectors. He has his code of honor that he will not falter from even at the cost of himself. But he won’t ever allow anyone else to diminish their worth or the worth of honesty and integrity.

    - Loyal. Lighter will say until the cows come home that if another gang offers him better payment, he’d leave the Sons of Calydon but he absolutely won’t. They’re his reason for living, quite literally. He would have eventually died in the ring if Big Daddy didn’t scoop him up for the Sons. But more than that, they’re his family. They’re his reason for waking up every morning. He loves and cares for them and that loyalty extends equally to the Proxy who he confided in about how he came into this gang. Trusted them not to interfere in the one verses many take down. The Proxy is one of them.

AU Name: Lorenzo Fuentes (goes by "Lighter")
    AU Age: 29
    AU Birthday: December 27th (Canon)

AU History: cw: death, gun violence, racism, gang violence, bullying

Lorenzo’s life was tumultuous from the very beginning. Born in El Paso, Texas, both of his parents were killed in a shootout and a work accident when he was an infant and was taken care of in those days by his elderly Abuelita Zoila Fuentes, sometimes seeing distant cousins like Rika when they were young. Because of her old age, though, she could not take care of both him and herself for long. He was sent into the Foster Care System when he was 6, his Abuelita passing two years later.

One thing his Abuelita passed onto him though was knowledge of magic and the paranormal world that their family had been tied to for many generations. "You might get some powers like the TV Shows, mijito, but being the heroic one? That’s more fun than being the bad guy, cause the bad guys? God sends them to hell," she told him. Just you know, with a smidge of the fear of God to cap it off, as was her wont.

Things were turbulent for a young man in and out of different homes with five or six other children who only sometimes didn’t make fun of him for not being fluent in English immediately. Some small fires may have been lit in those homes. When he was in better houses with nicer people that he could actually have conversations with and would even help with his English, he would leave them eventually. He never stayed for too long in one place, the longest lasted four years while he was in High School.

Lorenzo was a well known terror and menace in high school when it came to following the rules. He would pick fights with bullies, especially the ones who made fun of accents or names, would threaten them with fire as he carried a switch lighter with him at all times to mask his magic (thus picking up "Lighter" as a nickname). He had been written up multiple times and had middling grades at best. People pounding on the little guy infuriated him and he never stopped fighting them, though he accepted each write up. Other students were drawn to him being such an arbiter of justice, so to speak. He was quite popular and well known by even the biggest wallflower.

After he turned 18 and was no longer eligible for Foster Care, he applied for grants and scholarships for people in his situation as well as physical and sports scholarships. He did acquire one, enrolling in a University in another state, meeting new people. Eventually, he dropped out of college realizing it just wasn’t for him.

He made money through random jobs like youth services for others in foster care, summer camps and the like. But largely moved around just as he was used to. He didn’t know any other life and this was just easier. At some point he came across a man named Kinich on an odd job. They happened to finish the work together and Lighter mentioned he was in between work. Kinich directed him to a mercenary group he worked with once that was kept together by shoe strings and dried gum, essentially. Lighter joined this group, but not long after, their old leader had passed away in an accident. They were close to disbanding but with his natural charisma and leadership skills he took the helm of the head of the group and for a long while as he grew close to them and their families, things went well.

Until they didn’t. He was overconfident. He had the entire group take on a job that was a front for an organized crime ring. Had Lighter noticed their strange choices for meeting places, the constant repairs on bodegas they owned, the fact that they were often armed… he could have avoided this. But they met in a warehouse for an exchange and a rival gang to their client stormed it. Leaving many dead, more missing, and Lighter on his last leg of life surrounded by bodies and contraband just thinking I should have stopped this.

Then a voice called out to him from somewhere. A voice asking if he wanted to live. Saying he had too much potential to win to let one loss stop him. And naturally… he still wanted to live. Whether he deserved to… that was in God’s hands. Or rather. In a god’s hands. As the Norse war god Tyr now took hold in his body. Demanding victory at all costs. To become an undefeated champion.

What else was Lighter to do? He took out loans, he did what he could to fund the families he broke and seek out missing people of those who weren’t confirmed dead to repair families. He lost himself for years in underground rings, forgetting who he was, being taken over by Tyr when the edge of defeat came close at the cost of light sensitivity after prolonged use. However, one of these rings he found himself in was in a place known as "Ghost City". And it was led by a man named Hua Cheng who was seeking information.

Lighter knew that he couldn’t do this anymore. This constant fighting for profit. He lost his passion and wanted it back. So, he’ll scratch Hua Cheng’s back and perhaps Hua Cheng will scratch his. And being around a bunch of outcasts? That was his style.

While he was still a drifter for the most part, Lighter dedicated himself to whatever Hua Cheng needed. Having been in and out of Kaisou for a few years (and taking jobs both Ghost City and otherwise), he was also one of the leads in evacuating Ghost City during the rebellion against the Black Order. He helped them relocate back but spent a few months longer in Shanghai before coming back to Kaisou in early 2025.

    AU Personality Differences:
    - A little temperamental, a lot lonelier. He’s reluctant to lose people again and does not have the support network the Sons of Calydon provided and his past wasn’t filled with kind people, so he has juuuust a bit more of a temper.

    - Guilt-ridden.......2!! He has not fully paid off the debt to the families he ruined, so he has no closure and as a result his survivor’s guilt is much higher.

    - More of a Leader. In the Sons of Calydon, he’s glad for Caesar taking the helm because he won’t have to and his time as such has passed. Again, he doesn’t have the Sons here so in his heart he feels the passion to take charge but his guilt is keeping from seeing that to its full potential.

    2. He has to pet every dog he sees. Every dog. This may include dog people sometimes.

Note about The Bit(tm): He will saying he's Ares given the fact that Tyr is often confused for Mars and in Kaisou's current lore Tyr and other Aesir gods have been MIA. Lighter just calls him "Big Guy".

Character Name: Enhanced Person No. 5, aka Elan Ceres
    Canon: Gundam: Witch from Mercury
    Canon History: https://gundam.fandom.com/wiki/Enhanced_Person_Number_5

    Canon Personality:
🍃 Survivalist. As one of several disposable "Enhanced Persons", Elan—fifth of 'his' name—is very aware of just how worthless his life is. However, he has a strong sense of self-preservation, and will do just about anything to stay alive. Whether it's lying, cheating, or running away—nothing beats his pride.
🍃 Opportunist. No.5 did not get to where he is by simply letting things happen. While the previous holder of the 'Elan' name was cold and passive, No.5 is focused only on getting what he wants. At first it's Suletta's Gundam, but upon realizing there is very little they have in common, he focuses instead on getting the hell out of the conundrum he's found himself in.
🍃 Manipulative. No.5 doesn't care if people think he's a monster. In his pursuit of the mission, he puts up a sweet act to lure in Suletta and gain her trust, even going so far as to attempt to seduce her. When she doesn't respond how he wants, he starts to get violent. At that point another classmate steps in (thank god), but he doesn't seem bothered by being found out, really. His personality is described as being as 'wicked' as the true Elan Ceres, who is even more self-serving than his double.
🍃 Alone. Despite seemingly having everything, No.5 is just another puppet whose only worth is in what information he can pass onto Peil Technologies. Before he gave up his own face and name he is implied to have been some kind of criminal with no future. One can only imagine how alienating it must have felt for No.5 to finally have people look at him and care about him, but only because his whole existence was a lie.
🍃 Insecure. Despite his firm sense of self (hidden from the audience as it is), No.5 does have his insecurities. He projects a lot of them onto Suletta at first, and then onto the witch from Earth he ends up imprisoned with. She keeps trying to beat him up but he is persistent and eventually wins her over. After all, he's right: they're both alone, and both with lives worth less than dust, but he sees a future where she does not.
🍃 Freedom at any cost. Eventually, No.5 earns his freedom... sort of. Seeing a place where he can help (because Suletta is only one person), he volunteers to pilot a Gundam to help quell the conflict. He also apologizes for his past behavior, and mentions his one stipulation: he is not going to die in a Gundam like his predecessor. In return, he tells Suletta everything he knows about No.4, who was her friend in truth... and this, of course, earns her another friend in No.5, who begins to see not only a way out of the current situation, but a world in which he could live as himself again. At the end of the series, he's seen exploring Earth and trying to preserve the sights Norea du Noc left behind in her sketchbook.

    AU Name: Zephyr Dimitrios
    AU Age: 22
    AU Birthday: 6/15 (headcanon)

    AU History:
Zephyr was a kid who had been discarded by the system after getting involved in petty crime, and was sent to Krusnik because he had no worth outside of that. Having something of a high preservation instinct he managed to slip away at a very convenient moment and missed the mass extinction event that the other kids experienced. That doesn't mean he got out unscathed, however. He doesn't have a possession, but he was imbued with monster traits that allow him to "revive" after dying thanks to a certain experimental drug.

While everyone else has been on the trauma train, he's actually spent his years of freedom palling around with some radical left rebels in France and living it up with dubious legality. He heard about some Shit Going Down in Kaisou the past year or two and thought he'd check it out, see if anyone he knew survived. He has a completely different personality from the near-mute kid people might remember, and he picked up some Crime Skills while he was at it (or maybe he knew them beforehand, he's not saying).

AU Personality Differences: Zephyr started off resembling his predecessor no. 4 in personality, but the trauma of being killed and reviving changed him permanently. He learned that to survive, he had to be whatever people wanted him to be. At his core he is a survivor and he will lie, cheat, steal, and manipulate to endure. This is in line with canon, but unlike his character development at the end of the series, he's unaware of how lonely he is and he doesn't have a goal in mind. He's very airy.

Other Characters: Yusuke, Ash, Caelus, Wanderer, Lyney

    Character Name: August Villareal
    Canon: OC
Canon History: August was born to Ciela May Whitlock and an unknown man, though Ciela did say she knew where he was. It was while she was going to find him that she was killed in a car accident, leaving August in the care of his "aunts", Catherine Villareal and Marianne Villareal, née Arnaud.

Unbeknownst to August for most of his life, Ciela isn't actually dead. You see, August's father is a demon lord known to his aunts only as "Johann" and she was going to find whatever hellhole he'd crawled into after knocking her up to drag him out by the ear to help raise their son. By all accounts, she would have likely managed it if she hadn't been lost to Hell. She's still alive, and he knows this now, but it maybe a Hades and Persephone thing. He's not sure. Given that his father is Nebiros and is stated to never really have stayed in one place, August suspects she may be lost, combined with Drama in the Hells keeping her there.

August has never known life outside of the town of Solor, the town closest to the family's bird sanctuary (Crowley Sanctuary for Birds), and in fact would rather not have known life inside the town either as it is much too small for someone as...interesting as August is, with his naturally silver-white hair that he usually has dyed and weird pet raven and interest in fashion and uncanny knack for fortune telling. Guess how many times he was called a witch by someone. Just guess. (Granted, they aren't wrong, but still.)

Canon Abilities: - Demonic Transformation (he is very bird-y)

    - Psychic Ability (largely related to tarot)

    - Five of Wands: Several psychic tarot cards fly out of August's deck, swirling around and attacking everyone in the radius

    - Three of Swords: August draws a card and the target is overwhelmed with despair, weakening them

    - Judgment Reversed: August draws a card, causing psychic pain to the target.
    - Ace of Cups: After using Judgment Reversed, August can heal someone

    - Fool Reversed: August draws a card that hits right to the core of the target, but he’s unable to move.

Canon Personality: Thanks in large part to growing up weird, queer, and pagan in a small town, August is very much the cranky anti-social witch in the woods stereotype, if better dressed. He likes his family, his bird, the only other queer guy in town, the other local witch, and the baker and her boyfriend. That's it. Everyone else can go fuck right off, because August does not have the time or emotional bandwidth to deal with their shit.

That being said, when he's around the people he likes he's the sort of guy you'd expect a twenty something who grew up with crazy healing to be: a little reckless, a lot of a dork, and with some crazy stories. He's also much more personable and vulnerable when he's around the people he likes, since he feels safe with them. He's clingy at times, though he'll deny it, and he's extremely touchy if the other party doesn't mind (read: if he likes you, he will cuddle. A Lot).

Perhaps because of his heritage or perhaps because of the defenses he put up to protect himself as a child, August can also be...very explosive, emotionally speaking. He doesn't take everything personally or anything, but setbacks and bad news can send him into a bit of a spiral until he just snaps and yells or cries or runs off to be alone with his bird. He'll calm down quickly, but whatever upset him might still be simmering in the background, just waiting for another thing to set him off. Thankfully, his abilities are not emotionally powered.

He's also very likely to blame himself for whatever's happening, if it could feasibly be blamed on him. He's working on it.

    AU Name: N/A
    AU Age: 24
    AU Birthday: October 12

AU History: So for much of August's life, there was little to no difference between his canon history and his AU history. His mom was lost to the Spirit Realm, his dad had been possessed by Nebiros (or might have actually been him, he still genuinely isn't sure about that), and when he was about 22 he managed to get his mother out of the Spirit Realm. The biggest difference is that this was all happening in and around Kaisou. August was one of the first people on the app in 2022, dragged into all of this mess by virtue of capitalism and his high spiritual energy.

In August 2024, August and his partner Alexandre (who was not on the app) left Kaisou. There was too much danger, in August's opinion, and he needed to go back to Solor to be with his mother and aunts to help his mother properly recover from the Spirit Realm imprisonment. The Black Order was gone, but there was so much bullshit in the city that August frankly did not feel like it was safe for him or his family.

(Upon leaving Kaisou, he also admitted to Alexandre and his family that he was tired. He'd been ass-deep in the Kaisou stuff since it started and had been trying to keep the city from falling apart and it had finally gotten to him. He'd hit burn out and hard.)

While he was in Solor, however, there was an accident. August, incredibly used to the strength of the Kaisou spirit vein, forgot to account for the weaker vein near his hometown and attempted to use powers he could use with no problem in Kaisou in an attempt to save some people from a house fire. It backfired. August couldn't hold the power he used and his regeneration wasn't nearly as strong, and he very nearly did not survive.

And then Nebiros swooped in. After August had rescued Ciela and started to come into his own powers, the entity had been keeping an eye on August, curious to see if the son of his last possession would reach new heights. And then this happened, and Nebiros had to wonder if this recklessness to protect others was a family trait and if it came from the maternal side, the paternal side, or maybe even himself. Regardless, the entity/demon wanted to keep Ciela's son alive and so offered the same deal he'd made Johann: possession.

August agreed, though he warned Nebiros that he was not afraid of him and if things started to go bad he could and would figure out a way to get rid of him. Nebiros just laughed, certain that August would follow through on that threat if he felt the need. August came back to life with little fanfare...but a lot of fussing from his partner and mother once he told them. So far there hasn't been any trouble, likely because August and Nebiros are frankly more alike than either would admit.

Unfortunately for August, he can't stay away from Kaisou. With a promise to talk to his friends about the burn out situation (and warn them of his possession, just in case), August and Alexandre moved back to Kaisou so August could try and help the city after the latest round of bullshit.

    And so he is back!

AU Personality Differences: He's way more openly a mother hen than he was in his canon, thanks to a couple of years and the Kaisou Nonsense. He makes no apologies for this. The Nebiros incident also firmly beat a sense of self-preservation into August.

    Element: Shadow
Purchased Powers: Canon Ability: Fortune Telling, Master (4)
Canon and Kaisou Ability: Shadow Spirit Companion, Medium (3)
Kaisou Ability: Shadow Jump, Medium (4)
Kaisou Ability: Animal Communication, Fully Converse, Avian (3)
    Canon Ability: Regeneration, High (3)
Kaisou Ability: Shadow Manipulation, High (3)

Possession: He is possessed by Nebiros! It is mostly chill, but the price is once a week he has to buy and complete one of those arts-and-crafts or science kits you see for kids in the stores. August isn't sure why, but whatever.

    Character Name: Dion Lesage
    Canon: Final Fantasy XVI
    Canon History: Dion Lesage

Canon Personality: CW: MENTIONS OF CHILD NEGLECT AND EMOTIONAL MANIPULATION

👑 Dion is a polite, kind, and just man who leans more on the serious side.

👑 It's not that he doesn't know how to have fun. It's just that he has a dry sense of humor and his station in life is kind of isolating.

👑 He cares deeply about the protection, welfare, and general quality of life for the people he's sworn to protect as a dragoon and Dominant of Bahamut.

👑 Dion also holds a great amount of love for his father as he remembers him as a kind man before his remarriage. He also remembers that his father never used to be tyrannical until then, too. That may even have even been true, but it's clear that his father's worst traits are brought to the forefront and encouraged by Anabella, his stepmother, whispering in his ear.

👑 This leads into his deep loathing for Anabella as he refuses to ever call her his mother. He hates everything about her with the feeling being very clearly mutual, and his relationship with his half-brother is a cold one directly because of her. The woman even gloats solely in her expressions that his father has taken her side and is casting Dion away.

👑 To really highlight this, his father always gifts Dion every time they meet with a flower called a wyverntail. As shown in the image, Dion takes incredible care of this gift and does his best to keep it pristine. However, when his half-brother is given the same gift of a wyverntail, he drops it on the floor carelessly and then Anabella intentionally steps on it, crushing the flower.

👑 Dion has an incredibly strong will. When Clive takes the power of an Eikon, usually that means that any Dominant who tries to transform ("prime") into their Eikon will go berserk. This does not happen when Dion takes on the form of Bahamut after Clive takes a portion of his Eikon's power.

👑 He feels a soul-crushing amount of guilt after the Big Bad manipulates a situation in which Dion kills his own father, and intentionally drives him into an all-consuming madness driven by grief. This makes him prime and go on a full on out-of-control rampage as Bahamut. Dion takes full responsibility for the damage he does to his people despite that. He views it as his own sin to bear and understands he might never find redemption.

👑 That moment is a turning point for Dion as he feels as though he doesn't deserve the love and kind regard of other people because of those actions. His old mentor tries to gift him with a wild wyverntail (it has purple petals instead of white), but Dion refuses it and says to only give it to him when he's deserved it.

    AU Name: N/A
    AU Age: 31
    AU Birthday: September 23rd (headcanon)

AU History: CW: CHILD NEGLECT, CHILD ABUSE, EMOTIONAL MANIPULATION, SLUT SHAMING, ACROPHOBIA

Dion was a miracle baby when he was born. His mother was infertile, and the only option they had was IVF. It still took some trial, error, and heartbreak before his mother was able to successfully give birth to him. However, since it gave her such a difficult time and almost cost her life for this, her doctors advised her that she should never get pregnant again. She was happy with her only son, though, and didn't mind that. With how traumatizing the whole thing had been as well, she wasn't keen to try again. If his father hand any strong opinions, he kept it to himself.

Born and raised in London, England, the first few years of his life was great. Although a little serious because of his father's expectations of him, he was still given opportunities to simply be a child. He made friends, he had the love of his parents, all was well... until it wasn't. They'd kept it from him quite well, but his parents were in the middle of a quiet divorce. Dion never knew. It was only when his mother sat him down to talk to him about it that he understood what was going on. He was five or six years old at the time. It was only in retrospect that he understood what his mother couldn't say to a child that age. However, she made sure to emphasize that it was not his fault in the slightest. It was simply between her and his father.

They kept joint custody of Dion, and he went between their houses on alternating weekends. A year after the divorce was finalized, his father started seeing a new woman: Anabella. He took an instant disliking to her. He wasn't able to put his finger on why at the time, but his gut always told him that she was not to be trusted. At first, his father respected that and did try to minimize their interactions. When Dion was around 11 years old, his father then told him that he was going to marry Anabella and after the wedding, they were going to move to the United States. Dion didn't want any of this and told his father as such, but he also wanted his father to be happy. He promised to attend the wedding only for his father's sake.

He was cordial enough during the wedding, and while they were on their honeymoon, he stayed at his mother's house. That was when everything went from calm and peaceful to a shitstorm of unprecedented levels. In a move that could only in hindsight be called calculating, his mother was summoned to court to renegotiate the custody terms. Within one short week, his mother lost all custody of Dion. His father's team of lawyers had attacked her character due to the fact that she was currently a sex worker after falling on hard times following the divorce years ago. It didn't matter in the eyes of the judge that she had made sure to prioritize Dion's safety and welfare. Sole custody was awarded to his father and Anabella by the time they came back from the honeymoon. Not long after that, they moved to the United States.

Dion was enrolled in private school and the whole matter solidified his hatred of Anabella. He would never acknowledge her as his step-mother unless necessary. This was around the time when his Light magic began to manifest. His father's side of the family had been an old and powerful line of magic-users, but where his Aunt Celi had been gifted with being ageless, his father was gifted in bending light to his will. Dion's magic manifested in a gift of teleportation magic. This allowed him to have greater freedom so long as he was careful. He trained with it as best as he could while also juggling his schoolwork. His goal was mostly to become good enough at it that he could stay out of the manor for as long as possible until he had to go back.

The events surrounding the loss of his mother's custody was what put him on the path to being a family law attorney. He studied hard enough in school to graduate early, and by the time he was in high school he was already taking college courses. Despite everything that happened, Dion made certain to keep in contact with his mother. As the years went by, the more and more he hated the kind of person Anabella was turning his father into. The kind man he knew was gone, and in his place was someone cold to him. The two of them would use Dion to help bolster their reputation by riding on his successes as if it was their own.

He was around 23 when he graduated from law school and passed the bar exam. A friend of his decided that to celebrate this milestone, they should go skydiving for the first time. Dion agreed as he felt that it would at least be cathartic to face his fear and still take that leap of faith. It was during this trip that the course of his life would change once again. During his turn skydiving, his parachute didn't deploy no matter how hard he tried. He flipped onto his back and he could feel panic over the ground rushing up to meet him grow unbearable. That was when his memories awakened. He remembered falling just like that to his own perceived death.

With that memory came Bahamut. Dion transformed into a very large dragon to save himself and flew a distance away from where his group was. After returning to his senses, he landed safely and transformed back into a human. While his friend, who had no magic whatsoever, thought that his parachute finally deployed and the wind dragged him far away, Dion was in shock. It wasn't until he got home that the reality sank in to him. A Guardian showed up not five minutes after he arrived home, and "discussed" the situation with him. Given Bahamut's incredible power, the Order wasn't going to take no for an answer. Either he was recruited to their cause or they would have to contain him. They couldn't let Bahamut's Dominant go free.

The Guardian told him that they would give him 24 hours to make a decision. When they came back, they would need his answer. Dion did take that time to think, of course he did. His father and Anabella had heard what happened, and they were putting some pressure on him to take them up on the offer. They could have their uses for a Guardian, especially one with so much apparent power. Dion knew in that moment that he would be nothing but a new weapon for them in their political games. He also knew that The Order shouldn't have the power of a Dominant at their disposal, especially not Bahamut. It was with great pain that he used the little time remaining to him to inform his friends and family that he would be going on sabbatical for a few years, and he wouldn't be able to be reached for some time. It was especially hard to tell his mother, but there was nothing more he could do.

When the Guardian showed up again, Dion told them that he had no desire to be a weapon of The Black Order. Instead, he wanted to be taken away so that he couldn't be used and couldn't hurt anyone. So, The Order locked him away in the Fortress of Meropide. He remained as a prisoner, free to roam the facility to a certain extent given his personality. Dion was prepared to remain there for the rest of his life, and used his imprisonment as time to reconcile with some of his memories.

However, when the prison break occurred during the Rebellion, he decided to leave Kaisou and catch up on all the changes that had happened in the world since his incarceration. Dion reached out to his mother and reconnected with her. He visited London and stayed with her for a few months just to reassure her that he was okay. After that, Dion came to learn that his father and Anabella had moved to Kaisou following his decision. That left him with some conflicting feelings. After some more time re-credentialing himself as a family law attorney, Dion decided he would also move to Kaisou and make himself a permanent resident. If nothing else, he needed to get some closure with all that had happened to him.

AU Personality Differences: 🐉 Considering he hasn't committed patricide and hasn't turned on his people, his guilt is lessened greatly and he doesn't seek redemption through sacrifice. Right now, anyway. This part of him is still in his personality, but that's now only a possibility instead of his current reality.

    Element: Light
Purchased Powers: Dominant of Bahamut (4pts), Teleport (Low; 3pts), Halberd (3pts), Light Elemental Spells (Master; 4pts), Flight (3pts), Size Change (16ft; 3pts)

    Dominant of Bahamut
Dion is able to fully shapeshift into Bahamut (fuck-off enormous dragon) with the size at base being nerfed to less than 7 feet. He can also shapeshift into a hybrid form that makes him glow, makes his eyes glow blue, and gives him dragon wings. This is the basis for all of his canon magical abilities.

    Light Elemental Spells
This will only include all the spells that Dion can cast when he's human or hybrid.

Dia: Conjures a weak projectile of light magic.
Diara: Conjures a medium projectile of light magic.
Fire Breath: Breathe out light-element fire. Magic cast into the fire is instantly nullified.
Impulse: Summon up to four spheres of light that deal damage and binds weaker creatures in place. More powerful enemies do not get bound in place, but are dealt the damage. Lasts 2 tags before exploding.
Megaflare: Rains down projectiles of light magic that only target enemies in a limited range (somewhere around 10-15 feet). The light actively avoids allies. It lasts for 3 tags.
Gigaflare: Fire a large beam of powerful light magic in a straight line.

It doesn't have a name, but he can also conjure a small sphere of light that hovers over his head to help illuminate an area. It follows him around until he dismisses it.
